U.S. Open Day 12 live blog

Hi, all, and glad you could join us for the women's final at Flushing Meadows.

Technically, Serena Williams' clash against Kim Clijsters is a semi, but it's the real finale -- let's be honest. Both are riding 12-match winning streaks at the U.S. Open.

Williams is the most dominant big-game women's player around, and Clijsters, a feel-good story, has sizzled since coming out of retirement.

Williams has the clear edge in their head-to-heads, at 7-1, and even though the eight matches took place prior to Clijsters' comeback, the Belgian won't discard the stat. However, it's interesting to note that both their Grand Slam encounters went to a tight three sets, won by Williams.

Williams last lost a Grand Slam semifinal at the French Open way back in 2003.

We can only hope Mother Nature cooperates.
