The ongoing battle over the Redskins nickname resumed this week, when Washington, D.C. councilman David Grosso announced his plans to submit a non-binding resolution asking the team to change its name. If Grosso has it his way, in the future fans won't be cheering for the Redskins, but instead for the "Redtails." Are you in favor is this modification?

• Stonehill64: "'Don't politicians have bigger fish to fry? He should be focused on the economic and social issues facing his city, rather than a name of a pro football team that brings millions in revenue to his city, and may offend a handful. If you're offended, don't go to the game."

Sidney Crosby has been out since suffering a broken jaw on March 30 against the New York Islanders, and it looks like the Pittsburgh Penguins will be without their captain when they open the playoffs against that same Islanders team. Crosby has not been cleared by doctors to play and will miss at least Game 1 of the Penguins' opening-round playoff series. Pittsburgh earned the Eastern Conference's top seed despite not having Crosby for the last 12 games of the season. Do they need him to advance in the playoffs?

• Damastes0714: " The Penguins need Crosby to win the Cup, but I don't think they need him to win this series. They'll take their time with him. If we see him in this series its because the Pens NEED him, but I wouldn't expect him until Round 2."

While you weren't looking, Tim Hudson has been building a pretty impressive Hall of Fame résumé. He won his 200th career game on Tuesday night, even adding a home run that bounced off Bryce Harper's glove. 200 wins isn't a Hall of Fame milestone by any stretch of the imagination, but Hudson is young enough that he could add significantly to his already-impressive totals. To wit: His past three seasons have seen him go 49-26 with a 3.19 ERA and 399 strikeouts. We're not saying his best years are ahead of him, but he's clearly ascribing to the "fine wine" theory of aging.

• Justin Riddick: "'Hudson's going to have to reach the Hall of Fame as a compiler instead of someone who was a really dominant pitcher. The guy's basically been a consistent #2 caliber starting pitcher since joining Atlanta. If he has a career ending injury in the next year or two or his performance has a significant drop in 2014 or 2015, he definitely won't make it."
• Jason O'Rear: "200 wins is a great accomplishment, but it speaks more to longevity and good luck on Tim Hudson's part to be in this position. There are too many people being passed over (like a lot of Tigers on the 1984 team) for this to merit inclusion."
• Shanynn Forbes Karkowsky : "The Hall of Fame is for the greatest to ever play their position. Tim Hudson? Nice career, good pitcher. HOF - NO WAY."
• Luca Ferrieri: "His numbers are better than some of the pitchers already in the HOF. So, by that logic, he IS hof worthy."
• Paul Schmidt: "I think you have to compare Tim Hudson to the other starters that pitched during his career. Not once in his career did he challenge for the Cy Young award. I would put him at very good, but not HOF."
• Tiger Sanders: "He deserves to be in the hall. There will be no more 300 game winners in today's game."

The math said the Clippers were in control once they took a 2-0 lead on the Grizzlies in their first-round Western Conference playoff series. But math was powerless to keep Blake Griffin from landing on Lamar Odom's foot in practice and spraining his ankle. Now the Clippers find themselves down 3-2 and headed to Memphis, where the Grizzlies can close out the series Friday night. Will Griffin, who played 20 minutes in Tuesday's loss, return in Game 6? And will it be enough to help the Clippers force a Game 7 in L.A.?

• TheFeedMachine: "Depth does not work in the playoffs unless you can control the tempo, and the Clippers are not controlling the tempo. The idea is to gas out the Grizzlies starters, and then have your bench outplay their bench. The problem is that they are gassing out the Grizzlies starters and are playing their bench against the Grizzlies starters, who are dominating them."
• JKC1990: "Biggest difference in this series is the interior play of Randolph and Gasol versus Griffin and Jordan. Blake needs to work on his post game and the Clippers might be better suited getting a Center who can create his own shot versus a guy like Jordan who gets all of his points off of Chris Paul. The Lob City act is fine for fans, but it won't win titles. Randolph and Gasol have just dominated this series on the inside, and the Clippers have no answer. Their only consistent, capable scorer other than Paul is Jamal Crawford, and he comes off the bench. "

How do you contain a scoring threat like Stephen Curry? If you're the Denver Nuggets, maybe you impede him a little bit -- after all, Curry's not exactly the largest guy on the court. Good physical play is an effective part of many game plans, but Warriors coach Mark Jackson thinks the Nuggets were going a little too far, claiming that they targeted Curry's left ankle, which he sprained in Game 2. Whatever the Nuggets did, it worked -- they've given themselves new life in this closely fought series.

We wouldn't bet against Phil Jackson in anything -- he seems like one of those infuriating people who's good at whatever he tries -- but the Raptors seem to be casting against type in their reported pursuit of Jackson as their team president. Jackson's strengths as a coach are well-known, but as a president, he's something of an untested quantity. Pat Riley has found success with the Miami Heat in a similar role, but we'd imagine that Jackson would be far more amenable to simply coaching -- if there's a coaching job for him to take, that is.

• dave374000: "Jackson is a credible name, but has no real credibility as a president or GM. He is great at managing great players, but there are no great players in Toronto (and I'm a Raptors' fan). His greatest asset to the Raptors would be attracting real stars ... and Rudy Gay's contract pretty much makes that impossible."

The Nationals have been careful with Stephen Strasburg's right arm -- so careful that they shut him down before the playoffs last season to protect his surgically repaired right elbow. So the team and its fans are likely relieved to hear from GM Mike Rizzo that Strasburg's arm is "structurally perfect." That sure beats manager Davey Johnson's gloomier assessment Monday night that Strasburg "doesn't look right to me."

So Strasburg (1-4, 3.13 ERA) can make good on his pledge to not miss a start and try to bounce back from a six-inning no-decision against the Braves, in which he struggled to keep his arm loose and throw strikes. But the whole episode makes us wonder: How much caution with a pitching prospect's arm is enough -- or too much?

• thsCoach99: "The guy has a flaw in his mechanics and elbow/forearm trouble will always be an issue for him. He does not get his arm up by the time his front foot hits the ground. Basically, his arm is late getting into a position to move forward with the ball in hand. This puts a tremendous amount of tortional pressure on his forearm and elbow. Mark Prior and Kerry Wood had the same mechanical flaw."

Tim Tebow may be gone, but that doesn't mean the Jets' quarterback situation is settled. General manager John Idzik said that there's going to be an open competition for the QB spot, including everyone from struggling incumbent Mark Sanchez to backup Matt Simms. Whether the quarterback who starts the season will be the same person who finishes it is another question, but the Jets are keeping what options they have open on all fronts.
