Does a Super Bowl MVP put Ray Lewis on your All-Super Bowl team?
On Thursday, January 26 at 9 p.m. ET, ESPN will unveil The Ultimate Super Bowl 40-Man Roster in advance of Super Bowl XL. A distinguished panel of voters, all of whom have covered all 39 Super Bowls, will cast their ballots to determine the first 39 spots. What about the 40th? Well, that's where you come in.

The panel will select 18 players on offense (including starters and backups), 18 on defense (including starters and backups), a kicker, a punter and a kick returner for a total of 39 roster spots. The 40th spot will go to the player with the highest vote total from SportsNation that was not already picked by the panel.

We start in Week 1 with the heart of the defense, middle linebackers. The ballot includes Ray Lewis, who won Super Bowl MVP honors on defense for the Baltimore Ravens, Robert Jones, who led a Dallas Cowboys defense that forced nine turnovers in Super Bowl XXVII, and Jack Lambert, who won all four of the Super Bowls he played in for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

  • Tedy Bruschi (Patriots) - Super Bowls: 3. Won: 3. Helped hold high-powered Rams to 3 points over three quarters on the way to a 20-17 win in SB XXXVI. Totaled six tackles, one assist, one sack and one INT in 24-21 win over Philadelphia in SB XXIX.
     
  • Nick Buoniconti (Dolphins) - Super Bowls: 3. Won: 2. Helped lead Dolphins to a 14-7 win over Washington in Super Bowl VII, giving up zero offensive points. Returned in Super Bowl VIII, giving up just seven points in a 24-7 win over Minnesota.
     
  • Robert Jones (Cowboys) - Super Bowls: 4. Won: 3. Helped lead a Super Bowl XXVII defensive effort that forced nine Buffalo turnovers in a 52-17 win. Took part in Super Bowl XXVIII win as a substitute and started in Super Bowl XXX win over Pittsburgh.
     
  • Lee Roy Jordan (Cowboys) - Super Bowls: 3. Won: 1. Helped lead defensive effort in Super Bowl VI that didn't allow the Dolphins to score a touchdown and gain just 185 total yards in a 24-3 Dallas victory.
     
  • Jack Lambert (Steelers) - Super Bowls: 4. Won: 4. In Super Bowl IX, helped lead defensive effort that gave up just 119 total yards to Minnesota and zero offensive points. Intercepted three passes and scored safety in Super Bowl X.
     
  • Ray Lewis (Ravens) - Super Bowls: 1. Won: 1. Won Super Bowl MVP honors as a defensive player. In Super Bowl XXV, totaled three sacks, two assists, four passes defensed and led a unit that held New York to 152 total yards and zero offensive points.
