Vote: Best players of the pre-ESPN era?

 Pete Maravich
Is "Pistol Pete" Maravich among your top four?

Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills of South Dakota is a unique American symbol. It represents American patriotism and history, while honoring some of the country's greatest leaders. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln are forever etched into the soft granite of the mountain, until, as sculptor Gutzon Borglum said, "the wind and the rain alone shall wear them away."

As much as Mount Rushmore is unique to America, so is NCAA basketball and its March tournament. Many players have made names for themselves throughout the history of this tournament and during their careers. Specific tournaments, performances and games played by these college players are forever etched into the granite of time and our minds.

Thus, the question becomes, which players would you carve into a college basketball Mount Rushmore? We've listed 10 candidates from the pre-ESPN era (before 1980) and we want you to vote for four. Scroll down and vote SportsNation!
