The Penguins had to fight hard in the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference as a whole just to be considered for a playoff spot. Every team but the Islanders made the postseason in the Atlantic, which leads to some interesting questions about which team will emerge victorious this season. The Central Division was the same way in the West; despite Detroit's overall dominance, they didn't get their 112 points the easy way.
