THE PULSE (6:43 PM)
Saturday's guests on THE PULSE include ... Seattle Seahawks kicker Josh Brown, Dick Vitale live from the Kentucky-Kansas game. Rick Majerus live from the Iowa-Illinois game. Len Elmore live from the NC State-UNC game PLUS Andy Katz and Doug Gottlieb will be taking your hoops questions, too.
THE PULSE (6:44 PM)
If you can't get NFL playoffs off the brain, WE NEED YOUR COMMENTS!! Washington or Tampa Bay?? Jax or Pats?? Wild Card weekend is here. Expert Mark Schlereth is here to talk about it with you!
THE PULSE (6:44 PM)
Send 'em in to any of our guests now, just be sure to start with the name of the person you are writing to!
Jack (Harrisonburg, VA)
I see Tampa Bay as a formidable defensive unit but cant the Redskins utilize Cooley to pick apart this defense with the emphasis being on Moss as a deep threat and Portis in the running attack
Chris (VA)
Does anyone think the Skins are gonna win
Paymaan (Maryland)
Redskins will win today.
Brian Unguren (Las Vegas, Nevada)
How badly does Josh Brown and the Seahawks want to play the Redskins and get a little sweet revenge in the NFC Championship game??!
bobby (miami)
washington will destory tampa bay
Micah Williams (Hanau )
I think Washington is coming away with a win on this one why because the redskins have the tools to move the ball down the field they got santana moss and clinton portis there defense will also put pressure on chris simms and totally shutdown cadillac
Matt (VA)
I see Sean Taylor destroying Cadillac today
Joe (San Ramon, CA)
Do the Redskins stand a chance if Clinton Portis doesn't have a good game running the ball?
Geoff ((Preismanwaks, WI))
While the 'Skins have been able to run at will the last few weeks (the key to their streak), TB has a much stronger run defense than anyone in the NFC East. Do you think the 'Skins can establish Portis early and stay in their running game in the second half?
Fan (REading PA)
I am a skins fan, and after playing in Tampa earlier in the season and losing 36-35 I feel the skins have a good chance of winning this game. If you remember they played without Sean Taylor, who is a big force in the secondary. What do you think?
Warren (Philly)
ok first of all the redskins have not been in a playoff game in a while they could barely beat a depleted eagles team do you really think they wiill beat a redskins team that just 3 yrs ago won the superbowl?yeah a few key guys are gone but ronde and derrick are still there I say buccaners 17 skins 7.
THE PULSE (12:15 PM)
Great stuff guys. This is just the kind of stuff we're looking for to use on today's show. Don't forget -- there are three other games. I need comments like this for all of them so SOUND OFF NOW!!
Seth (Buffalo)
Who thinks the jags will win tonight besides me?
Jon (KC)
With Leftwich coming back, the Jags go into New England and give the Pats a loss
Shauvez:(Wichita,Ks)
Jax or Pats?? That shouldn't even be a qustion. pats are gonna smash the jags, the pats have a way better team espially since they have a quaterback that has never loss a playoff game. And there defense is just gone blitz Byron Leftwich knowing that he just came off an injury.I know its gone be a blowout.
Seth (Buffalo)
Jags win tonight 24-14
Big BK (Philadelphia, PA)
Is Fred Taylor going to start and how what keed of out come will the the Jags running game have on the Pats Deffense? Or will the Jags Passing game have a better effect against the Pats D? I think Jacksonville wins by 7 in a close one.
Warren (Philly)
Hey seth I agree it is gonna be an upset!!! tom brady thinks they dont get respect now wait till tonght when the jags d-line are all on him.
Brandon (Prestonsburg, KY)
Watching the Jags play all games this season, they have put Matt Jones in the Shotgun to run the ball almost every game. I feel that drafting matt Jones will help in a game like this. Not neccesarily his production, but the time the Patriots will have to spend on him in practice.
Ben (Oregon)
Patriots also havn't played an away play-off game in awhile, I say they beat the jags and lose their next game.
Brian (Jacksonville)
As a Jags fan, my biggest concern is not having Greg Jones healthy. In cold weather, a bruising back is your best friend. To go even further, the Jags o-line simply isn't suited to block for cut back runners like Taylor, Pearman and Toefield. Do you agree with this and what is your take on the Jags run blocking as a potential achilles heal?
Seth (Buffalo)
Jags WILL win tonight against the 31st ranked pass D even if they are the Pats they will lose
Adrian (HK)
I dunno... the Pats scare me in the playoffs. Their D has been getting healthy, Dillon's been running and well.... Brady's Brady
Devin (Dallas, Tx.)
Do you think that whatever team makes it out of this first game will have any chance at beating the rested Indy team? I know it is a tall order, but is there anything in history saying this can happen?
Stoneham MA
Can any team in the NFC beat the AFC teams like the Patriots or the Colts in the super bowl?
Ronny (NY)
I think Bears and Seahawks stand a chance and you have to include Broncos in that mix Stoneham.
Ian (Knoxville, TN)
Seahawks... Shaun Alexander cannot be stopped, and you know I mean it because I am typing this with a broken finger!
THE PULSE (12:33 PM)
That's dedication, Ian! We like that!
Ronny (NY)
I think Tom Brady made a mistake saying that the Patriots dont get enough respect.
Ben (Oregon)
If the patriots win by 7 or less they will lose their next game, if the win by 14 or more I think they have a shot next week. Anything inbetween is a toss-up.
Ian (Knoxville, TN)
I think the Seahawks are better than both the Pats and the Colts They will win the super bowl.
Ben (Oregon)
If Brady is really an M.V.P. like everyone says, he will find a way to win. At least give them a chance.
Seth (Buffalo)
Last time the Pats got beat in the playoffs it was by the Jags and Fred Taylor had a great game i see history repeating itself tonight.
Ben (Oregon)
I like this set up, Flutie drop kicking the Jags out of the play-offs.
Seth (Buffalo)
Jags will pass and run on the Pats making good use of the playaction as well against the 31st ranked pass D in the Pats
Anthony (Chicago)
Can the New England secondary slow down any significant passing attack?
Dave (Boston)
Can LeBrandon Toefield hurt the Patriots or is he a flash in the pan?
THE PULSE (12:37 PM)
These are all great questions. Hopefully Stink can answer them on-air today.
THE PULSE (12:38 PM)

Erik (San Dimas)
It's time for another exciting 3 hour edition of THE PULSE
THE PULSE (1:05 PM)
Hey, what do you guys think of Marcus Vick??
Dustin Hamilton (Vidalia Ga)
I don`t see why Virginia Tech suspended Marcus Vick. I think if he said he didn't do it puposely just give him a small suspension if you think he did. VT was a great team this year. They played well on both sides of the ball, but Marcus led that VT offense he gave them that extra demension that most QB's don't have enough of and thats speed and he used his speed wisely. He knew when to sit in the pocket and throw and when to get out of the pocket and take off.
Mike Baltimore
Marcus Vick deserves this completely. It doesn't matter how good u think u are, he is just a waste cause he could be a good player
Warren (Philly)
I LOVE MARCUS.But he reminds me of maurice clarett so much talen and youth but jus gets in a lot of trouble.
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
He's really looking forward to being one of those pro's that gets suspended and gets foolish on the daily.
Jeff (Iowa)
VaTech game Marcus Vick every possible chance to get his act together and stay in school. He has no one to blame but himself, and if you think he was only suspended because of what he did in the bowl game, you're a fool. There is more brewing with him, and that's what the school cut ties with him. Best of luck in the NFL, Marcus. I see another Maurice Clarett situation in your future.
Seth (Buffalo )
He's gettin what he deserves you cant let someone like him get to the NFL without first learning discipline.
Tom (VA)
Why isn't the press putting a little more heat on Frank Beamer for the VT/Vick issues? Was the fact that he wasn't at the press conference, Beamer saying he didn't agree with the dismissal from the team? How many chances was this kid supposed to get because his brother is Michael Vick. He has acted like a thug since he arrived at VT and Beamer always seems to look away because he wants to win.
chauncey (teaneck)
He is an idiot if he followed his brothers advice he would be a first round pick next year.
Dan (Ohio)
Vt should give him one more chance
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
I disagree, after all that mischeif, like Ron Artestt you just have to throw him off the team. No person can get away with all that trouble.
Seth (Buffalo )
He'd be the Terrell Owens of quarterbacks if this didnt happen in my opinion.
Shane (Columbus)
Isnt this His third suspension already?
Travis, Edgeley ND
Do you even think a team will take a chance on Marcus and draft him. If so who will and what round?
Seth (Buffalo )
I see Oakland drafting him with their first pick lol!!
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
No his sixth.
Ken (Hawaii)
With Marcus Vick's dismissal from VT and his possible decision to go to the NFL...When will the NFL and the rest of the World stop allowing convicted fellons and drug users to enter a glammered sport to entertain our youth. Not only is the business of the NFL being degraded with this happending, but it's letting our children get the idea in their heads that it is OK to use drugs and get into trouble because you'll still be able to get into the sporting community.
Josh Reising (Colorado Springs, CO)
I think what Marcus Vick got is perfect, if he is to go into the NFL, he needs to start demonstrating maturity on all levels, and also being responsible, getting a into problems off the field, as well as on the field is not exceptable
Erik (San Dimas, CA)
Marcus Vick is nothing but a punk kid who thought because his last name is is Vick, he could get away with anything. He got exactly what he deserved. I just hope he learned his lesson.
Ian (Detroit)
Marcus Vick needs to understand that his actions on and off field change his draft status. If I was a GM of a NFL team and I saw his comments after his dismissal, I would be thinking T.O. I don't think his is doing that great lately.
mike (va)
i dont think he's really as good as everybody thinks he is. mike vick can change a game. as for marcus he can play terribly in BIG games like against miami. 6 turnovers. 6. hes another TO/Clarrett like player and will only get himself into trouble the rest of his life
Jeff (Iowa)
I know we are a nation of second and third chances. Vick has used his up, and more. What's said is that the NFL, a true business in every sense of the word, will find a place for this kid despite his baggage. Perhaps it will work out, but perhaps a year in the CFL or Arena League would teach him a little humility and better prepare him for the NFL and more importantly, life.
Warren (Philly)
AS i would know because i am african american -- if a player like micheal acts like a thug, white america automaticaly smells truoble. im not saying racism had anthing to do with it, but if this was eli back in ole miss it would not be the sitiuation.
THE PULSE (1:15 PM)
Very good points, one and all.
THE PULSE (1:15 PM)
Now, let's talk to Mark Schelreth ... Chris Simms comments??
Malik New Jersey
I think Chris Simms will be the difference maker in this game. If has a poor game, the Redskins Will crush them. But if he has a good game Tampa Bay will win. Who's the difference maker in your mind?
Matt, Stroudsburg, PA
Chris Simms will struggle in his first playoff game because of the depleted running game. He will be forced to throw and cause turnovers.
Jack (Sacramento)
Can Washington really score as much as they did against Tampa earlier this season? I know they are on a roll, but Tampa has a great Defense.
Ben (Oregon)
Washington and Tampa bay need to treat this game with a lot of importance. This may be the last time they are in the play-offs for awhile.
Seth (Buffalo )
Lavar Arrington needs to shake Simms up a little and that will end his day as far as confidence goes
Matt (Orlando)
How will Simms be able to handle the pressure of Washington's front 7? I don't think TB's OLine is healthy, and very good to begin with, and I think he'll be on his back alot during this game
Chris M (Dallas TX)
Too inexperienced for the playoffs. give him another year
Garrett Holland,Michigan
Who do you think will come up bigger, Plaxico Burress or Steve Smith, and why?
chauncey (teaneck)
Do you think anyone can stop Steve Smith?
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
All the pressure is on Simms, he has very little experience, and the Redskins are loaded with Santana Moss on fire, and Mark Brunell, the Redskins will crush Simms.
Josh Reising (Colorado Springs, CO)
Chris Simms has done a exceptable job thus far, being able to just go out there and control then game and do what is asked of him, and having carnell williams in the back field and having galloway and clayton at the WR postions, its been a easy transition for him
Seth (Buffalo )
Cadillac will determine how good a day Simms has probably.
Jeremy (Maryland)
I think Greg Williams will get to Simms this time. I don't think the Bucs can put up anywhere near 36 points again on the Redskins.
Raymond (Durango,CO)
Chris has choked in pressure situations before (Big 12 Title game against Colorado) .
Rory (Louisiana)
I think Chris will have a hard time against a washington def.
Kent (Mississippi)
the Redskins win in a rout.. 42-13 Bucs D is too overated...
THE PULSE (1:20 PM)
How about Jax - Pats??
Raymond (Durango,CO)
Can Leftwich possibly preform at the level needed to have a chance angaints a team that just dosnt lose in the playoffs?
Chris (San Diego)
Jags and Pats - what a bore. Neither team deserves a playoff game while the Chargers and Chiefs watch from home. The Jags had a cushy schedule and the Pats had the privelage of the lowly AFC East.
Bryan (Brockton, MA)
Hmm... I'm a Pats fan but it's still a tough call. The Jags do have an edge in size, but let's see what Belichick and Brady pulls out of their sleeves
jason (oneonta)
pats defense is revamped right now, even though the secondary is still weak, pat 27-17
Gil, Jacksonville, Fl
The NFL is in for a surprise victory by the Jaguars over the Patriots. I just don't want to hear that the Patriots are not the same team that won the last two Super Bowls. Right now no one is giving my Jaguars a chance, they feel the Jaguars don't belong on the same field. They don't know the Jaguars.
Seth (Buffalo )
Byron will throttle a New England secondary that hasnt faced a decent offense in at least a month.
Jeff (Iowa)
Brady's comments about lack of respect should have the Jags fired up, but I don't think they can win at New England. The Pats are playing too well right now. The Jags only hope is if Fragile Fred can tear them up, but the guy hurts himself getting dressed for the game any more.
Chris M (Dallas TX)
Low scoring game, defense controls the tempo. Brady wins this game on a couple long completions. Pats D holds the Jags. Pats 17 Jags 7
Matt (Orlando)
Two words...Tom Brady
Matt (Clinton, MA)
The Jaguars are expected to start Byron Leftwich. Should we expect to see Garrard come in sometime in the second quarter? Which quarterback do the Patriots better match up against?
shane (Columbus)
not starting Gerrard would be there biggest mistake of the season
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
A team that made the playoffs right before the season's end will be crushed. The Patriots BARELY MADE THE PLAYOFFS, AND THEY WOULDN'T'VE if the Jets were better, While the Jaguars looked like they'd make it a long time ago. Jags 31-13
Josh Reising (Colorado Springs, CO)
Nobody talks about how well the Jags played, they obviously have done what it takes for them to be a 12-4 football team, no matter who is at QB, they might win
Ryan (Orland Park, IL)
New England will win this game today and they will do it in easily. 31-14 Pats win.
nico (California)
the difference in this game will be the health of Bruschi
THE PULSE (1:23 PM)
Alright. Let's switch gears to Rick Majerus and college hoops.
Pat (St. Louis, MO)
Rick Majerus---There is a team in Coulmiba, MO that could really use you right now!!! The Big 12 is a great conference--hope to see you in black and gold this off season.
THE PULSE (1:24 PM)
Coach is at the Illinois - Iowa game. What do you guys think of that one??
Dan Joliet Il
what do you think of illinois chances of making another final four run.
Jeff (Iowa)
Who do you see coming out on top at the end of the Big Ten season? Is Illinois as good as they appear to be, or is Michigan State the class of the conference? Does Iowa have a shot at finishing in the top half of the conference?
Jake (Canada)
How do you feel about Iowa in March?
jason (oneonta)
Illi are to solid, i can't see Iowa being able to hang with them
nico (California)
illinois is an underrated team, and with dee leading they should beat the hawkeyes
Bob (Lima, OH)
Is the Big Ten the best conference this year, with Ohio State, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, and Michigan State leading the way, (2 unbeatens and a slew of tough nosed ball clubs)?
Justin Dougherty (Iowa)
Is Iowa's men basketball team a Big Ten title contender.
THE PULSE (1:27 PM)
You're on TV, Justin!
Chris M (Dallas TX)
Illinois underrated? Who have they played thus far?this is the biggest game they have had this season
nico (California)
iowa CAN'T SHOOT, and brown can shoot better than everybody on iowa
Ben (Chicago)
Why are the Illini so highly ranked? Indiana and MSU are much better Big Ten teams than the Illini and U of I has played no one other than UNC, who teeters on the end of the top 25.
THE PULSE (1:29 PM)
Great stuff that segment, guys!!
THE PULSE (1:29 PM)
How about the Florida-Georgia game. That piece is coming up next!
THE PULSE (1:30 PM)
I'll need Maryland - Miami comments too. Anyone watching that game? Miami is about to pull a bit of an upset, it sseems.
Raymond (Durango,CO)
How about them Gators?
ADAM (CHARLOTTE)
WHAT IS UP WITH THE FLORIDA GATORS DID THEY JUST HAVE AN EASY SCHEDULE OR IS IT A FLUK OR ARE THEY JUST GOOD
Warren (PHILLY)
FLUKEFLUKE
nico (California)
florida is going to be a team to watch in march
Jason C. (Oneonta, NY)
Unfortunately for Georia, they are outclassed here. Even though the game is in Georgia. Florida is to tough!
Jason C. (Oneonta, NY)
Well, Miami has answered any run that Maryland has tried. Thus giving them a chance!
nico (California)
59-54 canes over terps looks like maryland came back
Raymond (Durango,CO)
Florida has been a pleasent supprise for Florida fans, but can they keep this level up for the rest of the season, and will they be in the mix in March?
Tim, Fort Hood
Is Florida the most underated team in the top 10.
Erik (San Dimas, CA)
Florida's rolling
Raymond (Durango,CO)
How could a team be this good and sneak up on everyone like this? I knew they were good, but did anyone predict this type of start?
Warren(Raleigh)
GO GATORS!!! I knew the Gators were gonna be good this year with the recruits coming in. They will be final four this year
Kent (Mississippi)
Kansas!!! wow! What has happened to UK?
THE PULSE (1:35 PM)
It's 54-30 Kansas!!
nico (California)
staying in the sec, KENTUCKY IS SO OVERRATED!!!!!!!!
Jeff (Baltimore)
Kansas will be a team to watch down the road..Kentucky just isnt a real good team
THE PULSE (1:36 PM)
We're giving you a little in-game extra right now on ESPNews. Check out this Maryland - Miami game.
Chris M (Dallas TX)
Boring Game. Kansas playing good ball, as usual. Kentucky is deplorable and overrated
nico (California)
ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK do not even begin to sleep on kansas they are a good team
Jeff (Baltimore)
Only reason why Kentucky is winning games this year is because of their coaching----talent isnt there
Jeff (Iowa)
My Baby Jayhawks are putting a hurtin' on those kitty-cats from Kentucky.
Warren (PHILLY)
IF ILLI IS UNDERATED KENTUCKY IS OVERRATED VERY OVERATED.
Raymond (Durango,CO)
Kentucky is a big dissapointment to me, Kansas just finally exposed them for what they are
Jason C. (Oneonta, NY)
UK has showed inconsistency all season, And KU being young and explosive proves the score
Marc (New York City)
UK is goin down the tubes, seriously
Erik (San Dimas, CA)
Is it possible that Tubby Smith's Kentuck Wilcats be unranked. I bet Ashley Judd is in shock and awe
Warren (PHILLY)
BYE BYE KENTUCKY THERE BEST DAYS ARE BEHIND THEM
nico (California)
oh where oh where has rajon gone oh where oh where could he be
josh (mississippi)
YEA LOL
THE PULSE (1:41 PM)
Hey guys, pretty soon we'll be talking NFL Draft. I want your COMMENTS. Who should go first. What should the Texans do? Draft, trade ... Reggie, Vince, Matt???
josh (mississippi)
YEA VINCE YOUNG NUMBER 1 IN DRAFT
Matt (Orlando)
We have a trade...with the first pick in the draft, the Tennessee Titans select Vince Young, with the 3rd pick the Houston Texans select D'Brickishaw Ferguson (how it should go down...but they'll take Bush)
Adrian (HK)
Anyone think that Reggie Bush will stay in school for one more year so that he can get into a better organization?
Sean Kennedy (Lancaster,CA)
If Bush goes to the draft, the texans need to take him, they need to build around David Carr.
Raymond (Durango,CO)
The Texans Should Trade the pick and get a Oline to protect a good QB in David Carr, I think that would be the best path for them at this time
Jon (KC)
Houston = Reggie, Reggie, Reggie.
Jeff (Baltimore)
The Texans are CRAZYYYY if they do not pick Reggie Bush----by the time his career is over he will be top 10 all time RB (as long as he stays healthy).
Jeff (Iowa)
If the Texans believe David Carr is their QB of the future, and if they can get someone to erase the nightmares of being sacked over and over, then they need to take Bush. I think he is a one in a generation player, and they can't pass him up unless they are absolutely dazzled by a trade package.
Jason C. (Oneonta, NY)
The Texans need line help more than a QB or RB. I think they should trade and work out some help for that poor offensive line!!
Raymond (Durango,CO)
Vince Young is NOT ready for the NFL!! He does not know how an NFL offense works, he runs an option offence in Texas, name one option offence in the NFL
J.J. (Johnstown)
I think that LenDale White will be a better NFL back then Reggie Bush. I think LenDale has the physcalness to take on hits from NFL linebackers and will be alot more durible, i like what bush has done this year but he wont be play the Fresno State Bulldogs in the NFL. I see Bush as a situational back. maybe 15 touches a game where White could get 25-30 carries and be effective.
Kent (Mississippi)
Vince young is so lucky... his knee was down and that td in the first quarter shouldn't have counted... I am one of the few in Mississippi that can't stand texas...
Chris M (Dallas TX)
Regiie goes to Houston... they have a QB in Carr. They may better be served looking for a front line, as well. Jerry will try to find a way to pick up one of the QB's, this wont happen. Cowboys will potentially pick up Vick if hes still available in the Draft. Dallas money will not fix their QB problem this year. Too many teams looking for QB's
Jeff (Baltimore)
By the way, BIG MISTAKE if you're a team and you take Vince Young over Leinart or Bush. Running QBs DO NOT win super bowls and he is going to be a bust. NO DOUBT!!
JOSH (MISSISSIPPI)
HOW THINKS VINCE SHOULD BE NUMBER ONE OVER ALL PICK I HOPE HE STAYS FOR HIS SENORIER YEAR HE WILL FOR SURE TO WIN THE HESIMEN
Raymond (Durango,CO)
Matt is being disrespected, he will be a big time factor down the road for whom ever drafts him, in 5 years when we look back at this draft, Matt will have made the biggest diffrence (ala Carson Palmer)
Jeff (Iowa)
Bush is 6-0, 200-plus pounds. He's more than big enough to take on NFL tacklers. Tiki Barber and Warrick Dunn seem to be doing all right.
THE PULSE (1:48 PM)
How about some questions and comments for Seahawks kicker Josh Brown??
Husker Nebraska
Josh what has been the biggest influence in your success as a professional kicker? How about them Huskers?
Chris Miller (Des Moines, Iowa)
What would the farthest distance you could kick for a pontenial game winning field goal?
Paul (Ellensburg, WA)
How does the leg feel Josh? It's been great to see you become one of the more accurate kickers in the NFL. I speak for all Hawk fans when we say that we trust your leg when it comes down to game time. Good luck and enjoy the ride
John, Seattle
Josh, did you feel any empathy for Jay Feely in the game against you when he missed three FGs?
Oliver, Seattle, Washington
How do you deal with the stress of being an NFL kicker? What do you do after you miss a vital field goal? Do you sympathize with Jay Feely? Well thank you for your time, Josh, and I look forward to seeing your amazing kicking skills displayed in the upcoming playoffs and of course the Super Bowl. By the way, I would vote you MVP of the Seahawks any day. Your my boy Josh, chea.
Erik (San Dimas, CA)
Josh, What exactly is a Seahawk
Seth (Buffalo)
Josh what was that celebration in Dallas? Are you trying to start a new trend?
sean a. key largo,fl
Josh Brownfirst of all, like to congratulate you and the team for all your regular season accomplishments. I was sitting in the hawk's nest for the showdown with indy. Qwest Field was rocking and I want to know how much the "12th man" really affects the outcome of the game and how it will help you win the NFC championship this year?
Zac Smith (Tacoma, WA)
Hey Josh.... After winning the game against the Cowboys with that improbable last second field goal, your impromptu celebration showcased some hidden talent in the speed and agility department. Did Coach Holmgren threaten to have you RETURN kicks the week after as well as deliver them?
Chuck (Scranton, PA)
Josh, same question from OLiver, being a kicker in the NFL , although not as physical as being a linemand or defensive end has alot of pressure included with the job, what do you do to prepare for this huge playoff game in the next two weeks in case you are needed for a game winning field goal in the playoffs or even in the SUPER BOWL
john (phoenix arizona)
hey josh brown! Do big guys like Shaun Alexander make fun of you for being a kicker?
Ken Sauer (Middletown, CT)
what ever happened to the kicking the ball bare foot? does anyone even try this anymore??
THE PULSE (1:53 PM)
You're on, Ken. Guys, great stuff for Josh. Nice job!
THE PULSE (1:53 PM)
Back to college hoops.
THE PULSE (1:54 PM)

Yeah, Florida has their game wrapped up and under the tree labeled "Gifts to the March Madness Gods"
Sean Kennedy (Lancaster,CA)
looks like Virginia is going to win, clemson looks lost.
Kent (Mississippi)
Wow..... Clemson and Virginia: two teams who won't make the NCAA tournament
Raymond (Durango,CO)
I want to see a buzzer beater for Virginia/Clemson, that would be epic
John (Arizona)
clemso will win I guarentee it
Victor alexandria,la

THE PULSE (2:00 PM)

Ian (Knoxville, TN)
Anybody besides me gonna give big ups to the UT Lady Volunteers! They face off against UConn today!
THE PULSE (2:03 PM)
There are some HUGE women's hoops games on today.
THE PULSE (2:04 PM)
LSU is running away from Minn. The Rutgers - Michigan State game is intense!
Raymond (Durango,CO)
Lady Huskies!!
nico (simi valley, california)
summit over auriemma today
Liam
7 seconds left in that Rutgers-MSU game.
THE PULSE (2:05 PM)
73-71 MSU is your final! Rutgers got upset this afternoon.
Carol (Conn)
Huskies over Lady Vols later today!! Write it down!
Ian (Knoxville, TN)
Kansas wins 73-46 vs. Kentucky.
THE PULSE (2:07 PM)
Rock chalk.
Jason C. (Oneonta,NY)
Looks like it's about over, Miami upsets Maryland!!
Kerry (MD)
Unfortunately my Terps are looking a lot like last year's today.
Jeff (Baltimore)
Gary Williams has to do a better job of getting his Maryland team up for a game. How do you get destroyed by Miami??
Steve (DC)
Why is this group of Maryland terps unable to have anything that resembles consistency. They are an embarassement
Raymond (Durango,CO)
Dicky V Baby, Kansas will be Top 5 during the next few years!!
nico (simi valley, California)
kentucky got rocked chalked and met a new jayhawk brandon rush
Jeremy (Lowell,IN)
Hey who's next?
THE PULSE (2:12 PM)
I think it will be Mr. Len Elmore comin' at you from UNC-NCState. Len's live at Chapel Hill. Tar Heels in the house?
Daniel (Charlotte,NC)
GO HEELS
Raymond (Durango,CO)
GO TAR HEELS!!! UNC, UNC, UNC
Dan (Charlotte,NC)
the pack's goin down
Ryan (Winston-Salem, NC)
NC State is No. 12 in the nation but still under the radar. Do they get the big win at UNC this weekend that moves them into the Top 10?
THE PULSE (2:19 PM)
You're on, Ryan!!
Mike (Hartford CT)
What's your impressions of BC at this point as they kick it into gear for ACC play?
THE PULSE (2:20 PM)
You too, Mike!!
Daniel (Peach Orchard, AR)
NC STATE is going to stomp UNC by over 25 points
Rick (Kenai,AK.)
After today, the Tarheels will not be ranked, sorry!!
THE PULSE (2:21 PM)
Great stuff guys. Let's get back to the NFL Wild Card weekend!! General thoughts on these four big games??
Brownsville, Texas
Why don't the Broncos get any credit? There record is better than the Patriots, Steelers, and Bengels. Yet almost all analysts talk about other wild card teams.
Wally (Milwuakee, Wisconsin)
I think there is a chance this weekend that all the road teams could come away with victories? Do you think this is possible and has it ever been done before on Wild Card Weekend?
Nico (Simi Valley, California)
Pittsburgh will beat Cincinati tomorrow! Look out for a 300 yard game from Big Ben!!!!!!!!
Will (Storrs, CT)
I can honestly see the two AFC teams with byes ( colts and bronco's ) losing at home in the divisional round....Pittsburg and New England are playing as good as anyone right now...
Kyle (Cumberland, RI)
Patriots are going to roll over Jacksonville in the cold weather at Gillette Stadium!
Raymond (Durango,CO)
BRONCOS all the way, they will sneak up on who ever they play and beat them with smashmouth running and defense
Jason C. (Oneonta,NY)
The Broncos are talked about less then the Patriots, yet Brady is complaining about the lack of respect. Yet his team isn't 13-3 and getting no respect!
Wally (Milwuakee, Wisconsin)
I think Jacksonville is being overlooked by everyone including Tom Brady and the Patriots. Nobody is giving them credit for a 12-4 season, why not?
THE PULSE (2:26 PM)
Lenny and Wally -- you're on!
Raymond (Durango,CO)
They were playing in the same division with the Colts, i mean two of their losses were the Colts and they should have won the first!
Chris M (Dallas TX)
AFC will have Colts, Denver, Steelers and Pats. Denver wins it allNFC has Seattle Chicago, Washington and GiantsGiants play denver in the Super Bowl
Erik (San Dimas, CA)
Beig Ben will have a field day with that poorest Cincinnati Bengal defense
Jeff (Iowa)
The road to the Super Bowl goes through Indy, and no one in the AFC is going to be them in the dome this year, including New England.
Seth (Tenafly, NJ)
If the Bengals want to have a good chance of moving on in the postseason against the Steelers, they need to get Rudi Johnson a bunch of carries each possession. He is a key component to their offense being so explosive.
Rick (Kenai,AK.)
Seattle will win the Super Bowl.
Will (Storrs)
No one wants to play the Bears right now....not with that defense, and teams havent been able to scout grossman for a whole season....what do you think are there chances to get past Seattle?
Jeff (Baltimore)
It would be a shame to see Seattle win the NFC because they will have no chance against the AFC...I'd rather see Chicago or Carolina represent the NFC....They are the only 2 who I think may have a chance
Tim Donohue (Mount Pocono,PA)
i say the steelers and the seahawks go all the way.
Jordan (Boston)
Brady's undefeted playoff record is finally going to be done this year....maybe this week but if not definately next week....the only two teams that i believe they can handle are the jags and they seem to handle the Steelers well also
Raymond (Durango,CO)
Denver Beat the Chargers to a pulp! Didnt the Chargers beat Indy in the Dome? The road goes through Denver, Indy losses to the Pats in the Second Round sending them to Denver where they got pounded on during week 6, catapulting the Broncos to Detroit to face The Bears. End of Story
Wally (Milwuakee, Wisconsin)
The Bears will lose in the first round.
Will (Storrs)
After seeing how the Chargers beat Indy, i think both New England and Pitt both have great chances to beat them....it comes down to the front 7 and gettin pressure on manning....and both teams have front 7's playing great right now!!!!
Nico (Simi Valley, California)
Does anyone believe in SEATTLE?!!!!!
Jeff (Iowa)
Is it just me, or do AFC fans seem like snobs? No way Seattle can beat anyone in the AFC? Please, the Seahawks have a balanced team and a coach who has won the big one before.
Kent (Mississippi)
Superbowl XL: Broncos versus Giants
Lou (Wisconsin)
Colts vs Giants
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
No one on the Giants defensive line can stop SS. The Giants only have offensive dynamites. Steve Smith will blow the Giants away.
JC (NJ)
Tiki for 200??????? AGAIN
Alexus (Naples, FL)
If Carolina is on their game tommorrow, the Giants don't stand a chance
Fred (Durham)
The panthers will slaughter the giants like they did to atlanta last week and tiki doesn't stand a chance!
keith (nyc)
Let's be honest; does anyone think Jacksonville has a chance of winning at Foxboro tonight? Didn't think so. Those oddds are about as good as Mel Kiper getting a crew cut.
Wally (Milwuakee, Wisconsin)
Jacksonville will win tonight using their defense.
Will (Long Island, NY)
Defense can take you only so far... It's the playoffs! ..... Chicago needs to be able to put points on the board. Seattle will have no problem representing the NFC.
Chris M (Dallas TX)
What weapons do the Panthers have compared to Manning, Tiki, Jacobs, Shockey, Toomer, Buress, Strahan and Umenyiora
Jesse (Redondo Beach, CA)
Jaguars have a chance if it's a high scoring game
Nico (Simi Valley, CA)
Don't underestimate the Jags. They will lose, but it will NOT be a blowout.
Will (Long Island, New York)
The game that most interests me this weekend has to be N.E. and Jacksonville. Patriots surging, and the Jags coming off a great season, I think it should be a great match up. Big question mark though, what is Leftwich going to be able to do in his first game back?
Andy (Indianapolis, Indiana)
The jags are a very tough team...they have played the colts very very tough, do not look for a New England blowout this evening!
Jordan (Boston)
Patriots were the ones who disrespected the Jags...i mean is was quite obvious that Cassell threw that 2 pt. conversion ball out of bounds intentionally......
Jordan (Boston)
The Pats are in a worse division than Jacksonville...and all i hear is that Jacksonville only played cupcakes....how about how the Pats played the jets, bill and dolphins a combined 6 times?? that is CUPCAKE schedule
Jeff (Iowa)
The only team in the NFC with no shot at the Super Bowl is New York, because of how Eli has been playing lately. If the Bears had some offense, they would have a chance, but Seattle is the team to beat.
Raymond (Durango,CO)
Any NFC team couldnt beat San Diego who didnt even make the Playoffs, AFC fans know that, NFC fans just wait and see in Detroit when the AFC crushes the NFC
Chris M (Dallas TX)
The real question asked should be who can stop the G-men. Seattle should have lost to both the Giants and the Cowboys. Can Chicago pose an offensive threat? Giants have the Team in the NFC that answers all the questions posed here. Seattle loses to the Giants. id be surprised to see Chicago stop Moss from Washington or the short pass game that Grossman may develope... Giants take the NFC. Now you have something to talk about
Chris M (Dallas TX)
Coughlin beats his old team, convincingly
Raymond (Durango,CO)
New York would lose to the lowest seed in the AFC playoff picture, Chicago is the only legit NFC team
Chris M (Dallas Tx)
Number One receiver from the NFC, Num,ber one defense from the NFC. C'mon Brother... you actually think the AFC wins the Super Bowl?
Chris M (Dallas Tx)
What does the AFC have that the NFC doesnt. Lets see... two running backs in the MVP Race, NFC. QB's QB's cant win the game alone. NFC wins the Super Bowl this year
Adrian (HK)
I think looking at it right now, there's no way anyone in the NFC can beat the top AFC teams. But then again... stranger things have happened and I mean.... that's why they play the game, right?
Jeff (Iowa)
You're right, Adrian. Just ask USC.
THE PULSE (2:50 PM)
What do you think about the Cincy-Pitts matchup?
Wally (Milwuakee, Wisconsin)
The inexperience of Carson Palmer and the Bengals in the playoffs will result in some unwanted nerves taking over their play.
Wally (Milwuakee, Wisconsin)
I don't think the Bengals will have any success tomorrow against the Steelers and their physical defense. It's going to be a long day for Carson Palmer.
Joe (Mass)
The Bengals are going to school the steelers its not like the steelers can actually put up numbers
Jason C. (Oneonta,NY)
The Steelers-Bengals is definitely a toss-up, it will depend on who can get the tempo first.
Jeff (Ohio)
If Carson Palmer throws for over 300 yards does it guarantee a Bengal win?
Jordan (Boston)
I'd love Cincy to win.....but i just think the Steelers will run all over that defense...
Kevin (Albany, NY)
Wait a minute...Cincy finished the season with the better record, they are the 3 seed playing the 6, they beat the Steelers in their most recent game...and they're 4 point underdogs at home?
THE PULSE (2:51 PM)
Throw the disrespect card!!!
Tim Cloe (Blacksburg, VA)
Why is everyone picking the Steelers? They cant run if they are losing. Best defense for CIN is a great Offense. We all saw it last time, the Steelers cant keep up.
J. Hall Winston-Salem, NC
Why are we sleeping on the Steelers and their potential to make it to the super bowl or at least the AFC championship. We do have one thing to our advantage this year, and that?s no home games.
THE PULSE (2:53 PM)
You're on J!
Will (Storrs)
jeff, Not if the bengals let Big Ben throw for 300 as well
Wally (Milwuakee, Wisconsin)
The Bengals won't even be in the game on Sunday.
Rick (Kenai,AK.)
The Bengals will be caged in that Steel Curtain!
Tim (Cincinnati, Ohio)
Although Cincinnati has been stumbling lately, I think that when they play all their starters they will win. I think people underestimate how important Chris Perry was to our offense before his injury (i know he played yesterday for a while, but that was without Palmer, co-running back Rudi Johnson, and the left side of the line was shuffled with the absence of Levi Jones). I think that when our lineup is back to normal, it will be enough to stop Pittsburgh, even if it is a shootout.
THE PULSE (2:53 PM)
TV for you, Tim!
Joe (Boston)
Cincy and pitts. Thats easy cincy all the way . Ok Palmer leads the league in passing tds. Big Ben has been slowing down. Rudi Johnsons doin insane. Bettis is doing alright. Chad is a BEAST. Hines ward just is good. Cincy tramples over pitts 28 24.
chuck (scranton,pa)
Pittsburghs offensive line is healthy with MARVEL SMiTH being healthy, I ask can the Bengals stop Jerome Bettis and WILLIE PARKER....I say NO and the steelers D fense will get to PALMER early and often Steelers win
Chris M (Dallas TX)
Pitt wins with Ball control, smart coach controls the game causing Cinci to pass, resulting in turnovers. Pitt by 10
THE PULSE (2:54 PM)
Good stuff folks! You guys are all over these wild card matchups.
Ian (Knoxville, TN)
UT LADY Volunteers vs. UCONN LADY Huskies. The two greatest coaches in women's basketball square off, PAt Summit vs, Geno Auriemma.
THE PULSE (2:56 PM)
Score update for y'all. Connectict leads Tennessee 41-39 with 1.5 seconds to halftime.
THE PULSE (2:57 PM)
It stands at 41-39 as they head to the lockerrooms.
THE PULSE (2:58 PM)
Alright. How about Redskins vs. Bucs???
THE PULSE (2:59 PM)
Any questions for Qadry Ismail? He's up next. Send 'em now!
CHARLIE (ALEXANDRIA VA)
THE SKINS GOT WEAPONS ON OFFENCE AND DEFENCE: PORTIS, MOSS, COOLEY, TAYLOR ARRINGTON AND COACH GIBBS. AND WITH HOW HOT THEY ARE PLAYING, TAMPA IS GONNA GET BURNED
John D (Middletown, NJ)
How can you bet against Tampa? They already won against the Redskins this year and their Cadillac got a new set of tires mid year and is running on all cylinders, if i was Redskins I would be worried about not becoming roadkill.
Tyler (NC)
Can the 'Skins go all the way? They are super hot and a good pick this weekend @ Tampa. I believe that the 'Skins wont be robbed this time.
Wally (Milwuakee, Wisconsin)
Santana Moss will have a big day today. Clinton Portis will open up the deep game, which will lead to a long day for Tampa Bay.
andrew (buffalo)
i like the skins because of Brunell's playoff expirienca vs. Simms
Wally (Milwuakee, Wisconsin)
Look out for the Redskins to make a serious playoff run. They've beaten Seattle this year, so they can contend with anyone in the NFC.
Rick (Kenai,AK.)
Washington is playing really good heading in to these playoffs, Simms too young to play well enough to win.
kevin (lubbock tx)
Gibbs against Simms ?, I'll take Gibbs!!
CJ (Michigan)
Bucs defense is the key factor this week. If the hold washington to 15 points or less, the will when. Bucs 23 Washinton 17
Joe (Boston)
Brunell simms???? Thats easy brunell. Brunell has been in the league for a long time but simms is just starting his great career isee sins schoolin the bucs
JOHN MEDLEY(ROXBORO,NC)
THE REDSKINS WILL LOSE THIS GAME IF THEY PLAY LIKE THEY DID AGAINST THE LOWLY EAGLES. THE BUCS DEFENSE IS BETTER THAN WAS PHILLY`S AND MARK BRUNELL WILL LOSE THIS GAME WITH INTERCEPTIONS AND FUMBLES.
Rick (Kenai,AK.)
Washington 24 Tampa Bay 13
Paul (Valley Village, CA)
Don't count out the Bucs. Chris Sims will ride that UT Longhorns momentum into the playoffs.
Kyle (Bowie, Maryland)
No one has mentioned Mark Brunells injury all week. I know he will be better than last week, but he looked HORRIBLE last week. Will he be healed enough to play against an even better Bucs defense?
Nico G. (Simi Valley, California)
I think Simms is good enough to exploit the weakness of no Shawn Springs. Bucs win 27-20
Alexus (Naples, FL)
The 'Skins D will overwhelm Simms
Jamie (NC)
In your opinion, are the Carolina Panthers a contender or a pretender to reach Super Bowl XL? how far will they get?
THE PULSE (3:14 PM)
You're on, Jamie!
THE PULSE (3:19 PM)
Men's college hoops, anyone??
Nico G. (Simi Valley, California)
Finally!!!!!!!!!! Can we talk some Pac Ten Hoops?
Matt (Philadelphia, PA)
Are you serious...?...wildcard weekend baby
Mike: (Seattle, Washington)
How do you feel about the strength of the Pac 10 this year? Could the Washington Huskies make a run at the Final Four?
mark (charlotte)
You can't beat the ACC Baby!
Rick (Kenai,AK.)
ACC is overrated
Nico G. (Simi Valley, California)
Out west in California around L.A. basketball is more important than pro football!
Jeff (Baltimore)
#1 Duke has a tough game tomorrow at #23 Wake Forest
JOHN MEDLEY(NC)
I`M NOT SOLD ON DUKE YET. I DON`T THINK THEY ARE THAT GOOD. EVERYONE WILL SEE THAT WHEN THEY START THEIR ACC SCHEDULE. WHAT YOU GUYS THINK?
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
maybe that explains why LA doesn't have a football team...
Joe (Boston)
How bout them BC eagles????
THE PULSE (3:24 PM)
Katz is talking about your Eagles now, Joe!
Nico G. (Simi Valley, California)
Hey Pulse! What's the next topic?
THE PULSE (3:30 PM)
UConn- Tenn women's hoops and Mel Kiper on the NFL Draft.
Jeff (Baltimore)
Hey Mel, Do YOU really think Vince young will be a productive NFL QB?? Or will he be a Randall Cunningham, Michael Vick type of Running QB, who doesnt win Super Bowls??
Tim Donohue: (mount pocono pennsylvania)
I say Vince Young should go #1 if he enters. Why not?
Erik (San Dimas, CA)
Mel, From a business and marketing standpoint wouldn't make a lot of sense for the Houston Texans to draft Vince Young?
Joe (Boston)
this draft order is simple1st Reggie Bush2nd Vince Young3rd Matt Leinart
Max (Georgia)
I think Vince Young will stay at Texas and Reggie Bush will go #1 to the Texans.
THE PULSE (3:41 PM)
Lots of weight on those junior shoulders. They have some big decisions to make.
Joe (Boston)
I see Lendall White and Bush leaving in top 5But i see vince young going 2nd and leinart going 3rd
Joe (Boston)
they dont need vince young. give carr a line and u haveyour own vince young
Alex (Brooklyn)
If Vince young goes to the Saints, and Reggie Bush goes to the Texans than will Matt Leinart be selected in the same area as Aaron Rodgers?
Joe (Boston)
1st Reggie Bush2nd Vince young3rd Matt Leinart4th Deangelo Williamsthats the draft order
Warren (Philly)
I ACTUALLY THINK MATT IS GONNA BE A BUST LIKE TIM COUCH,BUSH IS GONNA BE LIKE BARRY,LENDELL WILL BE RICKY WILLIAMS AND VINCE YOUNG WILL BE A DONNOVAN MCNABB
Rick (Kenai,AK.)
Vince Young will be a low top ten pick because of his throwing mechanics, running abilities are good but wont be good enough in the NFL, just ask Vick.
THE PULSE (3:45 PM)
Are you guys watching this Oklahoma - Nebraska game???
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
NEBRRASKA DRAINED IT!
Jeff (Iowa)
Did you ever notice how many ex-Huskers named Brown are in the NFL? Kris, Mike, Ralph, Josh.
THE PULSE (3:45 PM)
Interesting tidbit, Jeff.
THE PULSE (3:46 PM)
Great hoop games on right now. Turn on ESPNews if you don't get the game on your station!! WE've got it for you!
Alex (Brooklyn)
Yes what a 3 great d on the steal EXECUTION BABY!!!!!!!
Tony (Brooklyn)
And how bout the UConn - Tenn women's game??! Incredible!
THE PULSE (3:47 PM)
Nebraska upsets Oklahoma 59-58!!!
Alexus (Naples, FL)
OOOOOOOOOOO he missd
Erik (San Dimas, Ca)
As Dickie V would say THIS IS AWESOME BABY WITH A CAPITAL A
THE PULSE (3:48 PM)
And, FYI ... Tenn leads UConn 63-58 with 8 mins left to play
THE PULSE (3:55 PM)
Great stuff this week, folks. See you next Saturday -- same time, same place! Enjoy these hoop games and a HUGE weekend on the gridiron!!
