The top senior prospects in the nation will be showing their wares for scouts in hopes of improving their draft stock, including Arizona State wide receiver Derek Hagan, LSU wideout Skyler Green, UCLA tight end Marcedes Lewis and Memphis running back DeAngelo Williams.
Be sure to join ESPN experts Mel Kiper, Todd McShay and Rick Spielman along with other guests as we break down heights, weights, 40 times and practice performances all week from Mobile!
Buzzmaster (3:26 PM)
Helloooooooo again! We'll be back on Tuesday with more live chats from the Senior Bowl! We'll get started around 1 ET. Talk to you then!
Buzzmaster (12:18 AM)
Scouts, Inc's Todd McShay will kick things off at 1 ET to talk about the first day of practice, who impressed (Tye Hill, Maurice Stovall) and who didn't (Michael Robinson). We'll also have several players stopping by so join us!
Buzzmaster (10:22 AM)
Good morning! Slight change to the schedule. Miami WR Sinorice moss, Notre Dame WR Maurice Stovall and Penn St. QB Michael Robinson will all be rotating in to take your questions starting at about 12:45 ET. We'll have many other players as well. So what do you want to ask?
Buzzmaster (12:30 PM)
Hey everyone, WR Hank Baskett from New Mexico is here!
David Minner
Who would you most like to burn for a TD in the game on Saturday?
Hank Baskett (12:31 PM)
Dang! Some of those Penn State boys! I work out with one of their safeties so I'd like to put one on them.
j.t.
Are you able to have any fun while at the SEnior Bowl or is it all work?
Hank Baskett (12:32 PM)
It's definitely a lot of work but we get to have fun. Just being around all the guys is fun. We have functions scheduled all week so I'm looking forward to that.
Tom (Denver)
What NFL teams represent the coaching staff for the Senior Bowl?
Hank Baskett (12:33 PM)
We have the 49ers staff. It's different from college. They have fun but they are all business. They will snap quicker than the college coaches. I was on the same flight as Coach Nolan so I got to talk to him a bit which was nice.
Brad (Albuquerque)
Hank..I was so upset this year to not see you used more appropriately, otherwise UNM might've been in a bowl. What NFL team would you dream to play for?
Hank Baskett (12:35 PM)
I felt like I was used very graciously this year. It was an offense built around me but things don't always go as you wanted. I have no regrets other than not going to a bowl. I loved Marcus Allen and Bo Jackson and always loved the Raiders growing up.
Christian (Wayne, NJ)
How difficult is it to play with players from other systems and game plans? Is it tough to adjust to playing with new teammates?
Hank Baskett (12:36 PM)
We have to get on the same page. We came here to do our best and to win the game. It's not the same as being with your regular teammates but we are supposed to be the best seniors so we should be able to put it together and win.
Chris (Tampa)
Hank, what teams have spent a lot of time talking to you?
Hank Baskett (12:37 PM)
Everyone asks the same thing .. best game, worst game, strengths and weaknesses. I'm supposed to talk to Tampa today. You get snatched up by every team possible while you are here.
Nick (Eugene)
How much weight does this game factor into draft decisions by the NFL scouts
Hank Baskett (12:38 PM)
You can either increase your status or stay even or drop. You are going to do one of the three so this week is huge. The scouts see you ever minute of the day except when you are in your hotel room. They watch everything you do.
Buzzmaster (12:38 PM)
What are you trying to improve on or showcase this week?
Hank Baskett (12:39 PM)
I'm trying to work on my release off the press. I want to show that I bring a real physical game and that I will make the tough catches.
Mackenzie (ABQ)
What position do hope to play in the NFL? Where do you see your skills being used most appropriately?
Hank Baskett (12:39 PM)
I still see myself being a wide receiver 5, 10 years from now. I see myself having gone to a Pro Bowl or two by then as well.
keenan myers
Who askes harder questions, us or an nfl team?
Hank Baskett (12:41 PM)
NFL team. By far. They will ask the most random questions you can think of. One team gave me three off the wall words and ask you which one describes you. I've said "huh" several times already this week. Or they ask if you if were a certain animal, what would you be like?
Hack McMurty
Beyonce or JLo?
Hank Baskett (12:42 PM)
Beyonce. Just look at her.
Hank Baskett (12:42 PM)
Actually, Eva Longoria.
Matt (Columbia, SC)
Who has the fastist 40 at the senior bowl?
Hank Baskett (12:42 PM)
I run a 4.4. Not sure about everyone else.
Jeremy, Charlotte, NC
How is Brodie Croyle looking down there? I know Bama's offense wasnt good but now that he has some receievers that can catch is he any good ?
Hank Baskett (12:43 PM)
We've connected on a couple passes already. He is getting swamped around here. The whole South team is teasing him about it. You hear "Brodie Brodie" everywhere you go.
Tom (Phoenix)
You mentioned they asked your weakness...Do you think the speed of the game in the NFL will hinder you?
Hank Baskett (12:45 PM)
My only weakness if getting off against the press but that can be fixed. The speed of the game is the only real difference between college and the NFL. You have Defensive Linemen that can outrun receivers. It's crazy.
Jeremy Charlotte, NC
Of all the QBs, who has looked the best coming from a Wide Receiver?
Hank Baskett (12:45 PM)
All three have been impressive. Their ability to place the ball and knowledge of the game is impressive.
Lo Boston
What players have you seen this week that could help the Steelers if our favorite Jerome retires. Do you think they have what it takes to win the Super Bowl next week?
Hank Baskett (12:46 PM)
I think the Steelers will shock everybody. They have a very solid team but it should be a good game.
Hank Baskett (12:47 PM)
Thanks for the questions! I appreciate it. We'll do this again sometime!
Buzzmaster (12:48 PM)
Thanks, Hank! OK, another WR, Sinorice Moss from Miami, is coming up next ... send your questions now!
Sinorice Moss (12:49 PM)
Hello!
Anthony, MD
Whats your statline gonna be on Saturday?
Sinorice Moss (12:50 PM)
Who knows. I have no idea. I just try to make plays whenever the ball comes my way.
Pete (St. Pete, Florida)
Sinorice, who do you think was the best corner you faced in college?
Sinorice Moss (12:50 PM)
I would say Tye Hill from Clemson. He's here this week.
Michael
Sinorice, have you met with any teams yet? Which ones? What did they ask you?
Sinorice Moss (12:51 PM)
I've met with several already. They have been telling me they are interested and asking about my life and my background. They ask me what I expect to do once I get drafted.
boston, MA
Which team would you like to play forin the NFL?
Sinorice Moss (12:52 PM)
I grew up loving the Packers and all the great tradition they had. It just caught my eye then and I'm still a Green Bay fan now. I think Favre will be back next year. I hope he is.
Ben (Baton Rouge, LA)
Yo Sinorice! Can you be another Steve Smith? How is your game similar to his?
Sinorice Moss (12:52 PM)
I could be Sinorice Moss. I can't be Steve Smith. But I hope to be as good as he is.
Jay (Providence)
What kind of pressure do you feel working out in front of all of the scouts at the Senior Bowl?
Sinorice Moss (12:53 PM)
Of course there is pressure to execute in front of all those people. But you just have to concentrate the best you can.
John, NC
You didn't get much of a chance to return kicks at Miami with those duties going to Hester. Do you see yourself as a return guy in the NFL?
Sinorice Moss (12:54 PM)
I will get a big chance to do it in the NFL. A lot of teams are telling me they see me doing that. I've been practicing a lot and hope to get to do it this week.
Jason (Tallahassee, FL)
Sinorice, Who's the best Moss in the pros, Santana or Randy? (Be honest.)
Sinorice Moss (12:54 PM)
Santana. No question!
Travis, Canada
First thing I'm buying Moms/Pops after the contract is signed is_________?
Sinorice Moss (12:54 PM)
A house.
Mike (Florence, MS)
Sinorice, how do you see the Hurricane's playing next season? Thanks!
Sinorice Moss (12:55 PM)
The challenges will be overcoming the loss of some great coaches and so many seniors. But it's a great program. They will never fall flat.
Mike (Florence, MS)
Who's your pick in Superbowl XL?
Sinorice Moss (12:55 PM)
Pittsburgh!
Tony (Charleston,SC)
Where would you rate yourself amongst all of the other Wideouts
Sinorice Moss (12:56 PM)
I feel like I am. I hope to prove that this week.
Graham (Raleigh, NC)
What do you think you've improved on the most while in college that will help you succeed in the NFL?
Sinorice Moss (12:57 PM)
My ability to make the big catch and snag the ball wherever it was. That is what so many scouts like about me. I really improved on that in college.
Bob, Toledo, OH
Sinorice- have you been able to help out the 'Canes with recruiting this year with all that is going on with you? Will you work out in Coral Gables like so many other 'Canes do in the off-season?
Sinorice Moss (12:58 PM)
I've talked to a lot of local guys in Miami and a lot of them are interested and see the opportunity to be on a great team. I feel like I helped a lot in that area, I hope I did. I'll always be in Coral Gables in the offseason!
Mike (Florence, MS)
Have you had a chance to sample any tasty southern cuisine since being in Mobile?
Sinorice Moss (12:58 PM)
Not really. Haven't had the chance yet but I hope to. Thanks for the questions! Go Canes!
Buzzmaster (12:59 PM)
Thanks, Sinorice! Geez. he just shook Buzz's hand and almost broke it! That dude's got a grip!
Buzzmaster (1:02 PM)
Next us is .. you guessed it .. another WR! Notre Dame WR Maurice Stovall will be here momentarily .. send your questions!
Buzzmaster (1:10 PM)
So how's everyone doing this fine Tuesday?
Mike (Florence, MS)
Doing great Buzz. How's the weather in Mobile? I'm driving down from Jackson MS to see the Senior Bowl on Saturday.
Buzzmaster (1:11 PM)
Beautiful. It was in the 70s yesterday.
J.J. (Johnstown)
Great Buzz thank you for asking
tacoma (wa)
super
Chuck (Dallas, TX)
Are you sure it was Sinorice's handshake and not your girly hand?
Buzzmaster (1:14 PM)
That's very possible.
Buzzmaster (1:15 PM)
Anyone have a quick question for Ivan Maisel before he runs out? He's sitting right here.
Patrick, CA
Ivan, What WR has impressed you the msot this week?
Ivan Maisel (1:17 PM)
Travis Wilson from Oklahoma. It's tough to jusge anything right now because QBs and WRs are trying to learn each other and the playbooks. But I've seen Wilson make some great catches and I've seen him finish his pass routes which the North coaches have really been stepping on the receivers about doing.
Ivan Maisel (1:17 PM)
He's an under the radar guy because he has been hurt but he won't be under the radar for long.
Orion (West Coast)
Hey Ivan how come you didn't play some ball back in the days?
Ivan Maisel (1:18 PM)
I had a 40 time that nearly cracked double figures.
Patrick, CA
Thanks Ivan. Hve fun this week!
Buzzmaster (1:19 PM)
Still waiting on Mr. Stovall. We're also slated to have Michael Robinson stopping by a little later .. after that we're just going to grab whoever we can find!
Hende (OH)
So let me get this straight, ESPN flies you around to transcribe other people's answers? Quite a gig you got there Buzz.
Buzzmaster (1:22 PM)
Hey, it's not all fun and games. Wait ... yeah it is. Sorry about that. The best part about coming to the Senior Bowl is the food. Seriously. Just around the corner from the hotel here is "The Little Chicken". Chowing down now on country fried steak, Macaroni and Cheese and something I don't even have a name for ... it's like a hushpuppy but it has creamed corn on the inside. Anyone know what that's called?
Kerry (MD)
CORN FRITTERS!!!! I love those!
Dean (Akron, OH)
Buzz, that's called disgusting, I think.
Mike (Florence, MS)
Buzz, it's just deep-fried cream corn. In the South, we deep-fry anything. I went to a baseball game here in Jackson and ordered deep-fried macaroni & cheeze. Delicious, but an artery clogger.
Ivan Maisel (1:25 PM)
Thanks for stopping by the Food Network .. we're begging Buzz to continue Senior Bowl coverage.
Jeff (Dayton)
What's the best place to be sent for ESPN? Do you get Pro Bowl travel?
Buzzmaster (1:27 PM)
Yeah, Pro Bowl is pretty sweet. But not going this year.
Joe (Ca)
Get Robinson in here! Penn State wooooooo
Buzzmaster (1:29 PM)
Hold on .. Buzz is going to go investigate real quick.
Buzzmaster (1:32 PM)
Just bumped into Vandy QB Jay Cutler .. say hi to Jay ..
Jay Cutler (1:33 PM)
Hey everyone ..
Donny-Los Angeles, CA
If Kobe can score 81, can an NFL team do it in the years to come?
Jay Cutler (1:34 PM)
No, an NFL team will not do it. Defenses are way too sophisticated. If anything, scoring will go down.
Rick , NY
Hey Jay, I was just curious. What do you think separates you from your 2 other highly ranked peers, Leinart and Young?
Jay Cutler (1:34 PM)
I think I'm a mixture of both of those guys. Leinart's strengths are as a pocket passer and VY is a runner. I'm a blend of the two.
Brian (CA)
Hye Jay, do you think that Kiper's love affair with your game by putting you so high up in the mock draft is justified...are you the real deal?
Jay Cutler (1:35 PM)
Yeah, I'm the real deal. I've done my part throughout my career to put myself in the top QB category.
Matt (Buffalo)
How's it going Jay? Just a quick one , being at a school that didn't get the nat'l recognition as a USC or Texas type program, what do you think is the most important thing for you to seperate yourself?
Jay Cutler (1:36 PM)
By coming to the Senior Bowl. It's a great way to put yourself in front of the coaches and let your talent take over.
mel (jersey city, nj)
Who do you have for the Super Bowl?
Jay Cutler (1:36 PM)
Pittsburgh. They are just on a roll. Their defense and running game is better.
Donny-Los Angeles, CA
Jay, One of the mock drafts have you dropping to 18 and playing for the Cowboys, would you like to play for coach Parcells?
Jay Cutler (1:37 PM)
I would love to play for him. He obviously knows how to coach QBs and it's a great town with a great fan base.
John (Kansas)
how fast if your fastball?
Jay Cutler (1:38 PM)
I played shortstop.
Os (NJ)
Hey Jay... are you feeling any difference in the game this week working with better WR's? against better defensive players?
Jay Cutler (1:39 PM)
Yeah, it's a big adjustment. Playing at Vandy we didn't have All Americans at every position. Getting used to the timing is tough but that's why we are practicing all week.
Eric, CA
Your thoughts on the whole Reggie v. VY for the top pick? Just wondering if college players feel as split as the media on the issue. I personally think it's Reggie without a doubt
Jay Cutler (1:40 PM)
It depends on the teams need. I think Bush is the best college football player and if the Texans stay with Carr, he would be a good pick for them.
Allen (T-town, AL)
Jay, you're quite a talented QB. What other programs recruited you comming out of HS?
Jay Cutler (1:41 PM)
I wasn't highly recruited. I was commmitted to Illinois for awhile but they dropped me and Vandy was one of the only other schools that wanted me at QB.
stephen, ma
what's the coaching like out there?
Jay Cutler (1:41 PM)
It's been great. The intesity is up. They pass on as much knowledge as they can to all the players here which is great. But yesterday, everything was 100 miles per hour. Norm was just like Go! Go! Go! and I'm like, I don't even know the play call!
Jeff (South Beach)
Jay, we want you in Miami - have you talked to Nick Saban yet?
Jay Cutler (1:41 PM)
I met him last night and we had a great meeting. They might be drafting a QB.
Don (Kalamazoo, MI)
Jay... Mel Kiper has you as high as number 9 to the Lions, a place where you would obviously be competing for a starting spot right away. Would you be excited to step in there with the obvious talent they have at the receiver positions?
Jay Cutler (1:42 PM)
I think it's always tough for a rookie QB to come in and make a quick impact. But the Lions do have great talent at WR so anything is possible.
Allen (Tuscaloosa, AL)
Always wanted to ask this....how hard are the classes at Vandy?
Jay Cutler (1:43 PM)
The hardest part is getting in and getting adjusted to the workload but once you get it down, it's hard to not be successful.
Bengi (Dyersville, IA)
What aspect are you most looking forward to in the NFL life?
Jay Cutler (1:44 PM)
Just getting paid to do what you love. It's always been a dream to play in the NFL so if it can become a reality that would be great.
Ron (Camarillo, CA)
Jay, who has impressed you the most this week?
Jay Cutler (1:45 PM)
Our entire WR corp is big and fast and it's been a blast throwing to them.
John (Kansas)
do you like sandwiches?
Jay Cutler (1:45 PM)
I love them. Especially turkey.
Kerry
Jay, random question. Did you know this former Vandy receiver doing the Real World/Road Rules thing? If so, was he any good?
Jay Cutler (1:46 PM)
M.J. Garrett. I played with him for two years. He was good.
3FF (Arlington, VA)
Dude, do you get any groupies down there at the Senior Bowl?
Jay Cutler (1:46 PM)
I'm not aware if the Senior Bowl has groupies.
Michael, Washington DC
As a Vandy '05, just wanted to express my gratitute. Although we fell a game short of a bowl, I've never seen Vandy fans as fired up as last season.
Jay Cutler (1:47 PM)
Thank you very much. I appreciate the support. Coach Johnson and the staff are really working hard to keep improving on last season. Thanks for the questions!
Buzzmaster (1:49 PM)
Thanks, Jay!
Buzzmaster (1:49 PM)
OK, we're hoping to get Michael Robinson in here next .. but could be someone else .. oh, the drama ..
Batch (Beantown)
Speaking of drama ... ok I don't have anything clever to put here
Ben (Oakland)
You sure know how to keep your audience on the edge of their seat
John (Buffalo)
Buzz....are you getting these guys cell phone numbers so you can freeload a few tickets down the road???
Buzzmaster (1:52 PM)
How did you know that? Freaky.
Jeff (Cleveland)
Isn't all the drama on TNT?
Buzzmaster (1:52 PM)
Not today.
Marty (Cinci)
What happened to MoSto?
Buzzmaster (1:54 PM)
He got pulled into a meeting. But we'll get him on eventually. It's about a 200 ft. walk from the lobby to where we are so that's 200 ft of agents, scouts. hanger's on to wade through ..
Todd (Boston)
Buzz, any random thoughts on life that you'd like to share with us right now?
Buzzmaster (1:57 PM)
I'm eating conocut creme pie right now.
Buzzmaster (2:01 PM)
OK, we're going to have a lull in players for awhile because there are team meetings and the South team is practicing at 2:30 ET. But Scouts, Inc.'s Todd McShay is coming back any second to break things down ..
Scout's Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:04 PM)
Hello everyone. What's on your mind?
Rocky (Nashville)
Does Jay Cutler really have a realistic chance of being a top 10 draft pick?
Scout's Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:07 PM)
I think he does. I think Cutler will be off the board in the top 15. I don't see him necessarily as a top 15 pick in terms of overall talent but the lack of depth in this year's QB class has pushed him into that range. I'm impressed by his arm strength and he's realitively mobile. He's intelligent, competitive and tough.
Scout's Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:08 PM)
He'll need some good coaching and a lot of work on his mechanics. He's a little up and down in terms of his accuracy and consistency.
Ricky, Houston
So what team do you guys think will draft Michael Robinson and do you see him playing QB in the NFL?
Scout's Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:09 PM)
I don't see any chance he plays QB in the NFL. He's wasting his time here. It's really too bad. It's a borderline travesty because he has a whole week to take advantage of everyone being here and to show what he can do as a receiver or RB. He's doing a little bit as a return guy which is another area he could contribute at. But to make an NFL team and make a career of it, it would have to be at WR or RB.
Marty (Cinci)
Is Mo Stovall a first rounder? Where and when do you see him going?
Scout's Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:11 PM)
I think Stovall will come off the board in the second round. There is obviously some concern about his one year of production. He has better numbers in his senior year than his first three years combined. It seems like the light has come on for him and playing under Coach Weis was helpful for him. He took off a good amount of weight and got in better shape and for the first time he is really motivated to play. He doesn't have great speed and he takes a litle long to get in and out of his routes but when you are 6'4", 220 and running in the mid 4.5's with the ability to catch over the shoulder, there is room for you in the NFL. I think he will be among the top 4-6 receivers taken in the draft.
Rashad from Fremont, CA
Todd, Of the receivers at practices this week, who cathes the ball in his hands (not letting it get to the body) most consistently?
Scout's Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:13 PM)
Good question. I would say Jason Avant or Sinorice Moss. Those two guys are very good at that. Avant dropped a couple passes today though. But he is the most consistent of the group, with Moss a close second. Moss is good at "plucking" the ball and bringing it into this body. The guy who has been the worst at this is Derek Hagan who has really been fighting the ball this week.
Christine (Fresno)
What player had the biggest difference between actual sized to the size listed in their schools media guide?
Scout's Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:14 PM)
Christine bringing the tough questions! Maurice Stovall had dropped 20 pounds. D'Angelo Williams was 5'8" 1/2 which was shorter than expected.
Jeff (Cleveland)
Whos the best pash rusher down there?
Scout's Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:16 PM)
I think it's Kiwanuka. He hasn't had a great week yet and got planted by D'Brickashaw Ferguson today.
Todd (Birmingham, AL)
How much does UAB's Darrell Hackney's lack of height hurt his status?
Scout's Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:17 PM)
It certainly doesn't help but each year there seems to be less of an emphasis on height at the QB position. I'll have a better feel on him after this afternooon's practice.
TJ (Portland, ME)
Who is the best RB that nobdy is talking about?
Scout's Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:19 PM)
Jerious Norwood has really stood out as an underrated player here at the Senior Bowl. Very explosive with decent size. He needs to get a little bigger but he has stood out already this week.
Manny (Hawaii)
Todd, answer a Hula Bowl question. I watched the game and was very impressed with the starting center from the North squad, he later played tackle and looked good also. His name was Brian Barthelmes from UVA. I don't see him on anyone's draft boards? He is listed at 6'7 290 and looked pretty physical to me, what is the deal?
Scout's Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:21 PM)
He's a classic example of a good college guy who doesn't project as a real contributor in the NFL because of his size and quickness. There were very few players in that game that will get drafted in the first three rounds. The majority of players in that game are second day draft picks.
Andrew (Jackson, MS)
What's the buzz on D.J. Shockley?
Scout's Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:22 PM)
He didn't have a great day yesterday. Inconsistent play on the ball. He misssed several open targetrs and he looked like he was getting frustrated. You also have to take into consideration it's his first day back after awhile in a whole new sceme with new players. That's a lot of kinks to iron out. Overall the consensus is Shockley deserves a chance to show what he can do at QB before looking at a possible position switch.
bob (nyc)
Last year at this time Matt Jones was a 3rd rounder at best, but the Jags took a flyer on him in the 1st based solely on athletic ability. What team would be most likely to do the same this year with Hester? Denver, maybe, with two first rounders and no real speed guys in the passing game?
Scout's Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:25 PM)
I think there are two qualifiers .. first off it has to be a team that has shown a pension for creativity. Like the Steelers or Patriots. The second thing is it has to be a team without real specific needs. Hester will not be a first round pick and I'd be surprised if he got into the second round. As for the third or fourth round, more teams are willing to take a chance on a position move so it's hard to predict who might take that chance.
John from Philly
haven't heard to much about demeco ryans. is he making any impression at all?
Scout's Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:26 PM)
Yeah, he looked good yesterday. It's tough with LBs to say much about them after one day. He is probably the most instinctive LB here. He is quick and make plays in the short area. But his lack of great speed was obvious yesterday.
Buzzmaster (2:27 PM)
Side note .. when Jay Cutler was here a minute ago he looked at the roster and said "Oh, DeMeco's here?". He wasn't happy he was on the other team ; )
Jared Seattle
How do you view Jerome Harrison in the Senior Bowl and do you think he can be and everydown back in the NFL?
Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:29 PM)
His size really concerns me. It's not necessarily the height but his lack of overal bulk. He will have a hard time handling a full load in the NFL. When push comes to shove he will level off as a very good No. 2, change of pace type back in the NFL. I don't think anyone would draft him with the thought of being a full-time starter.
Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay (2:30 PM)
I appreciate all the great questions. Today we start to get a much better view of the guys and who is improving and who is disappointing. I'll be back tomorrow for more questions!
Alex (Palm Harbor, FL)
Where's Buzz; what we got? I thought this pony show was goin' until 3:00.
Buzzmaster (2:36 PM)
Still here. Where would I go?
Richard (Krzyzewskiville)
is this practice on ESPN right now live?
Buzzmaster (2:38 PM)
Yes! And in high def!
Phil (Cleveland)
figured you would head out for food
Buzzmaster (2:39 PM)
Nah. That coconut creme pie was very filling. And have to start getting prepared for dinner. We're eyeing the Original Oyster House. Or a return trip to Dreamland Bar-B-Q.
Jim (New York, NY)
What's the word on Michael Robinson, is he around to take a question or two?
Buzzmaster (2:41 PM)
He will be. He was going to do it earlier but a team official wanted to talk to him. We'll get him. Hopefully he won't read his ESPN.com evaluation first or he might not want to talk to us.
Matt- Bordentown NJ
Yo buzzmaster- If you had the 1st pick in the draft (assume you need every position) and you had to pick someone who's there at senior bowl practice (no one else) who do you take?
Buzzmaster (2:46 PM)
Hmm.. that's a good question because there isn't that one superstar player that overshadows everyone like in some years. The QB prospects are good but none of them are really great. Same for the RBs. I'd say D'Brickashaw Ferguson. McShay was right, that dude is a monster. He could anchor anybody's OL.
Batch (Beantown)
Buzzmaster ever consider going by Master of Buzz? It carries more authority with it then your current title
Buzzmaster (2:49 PM)
Have to get promoted for that title.
Alex (Palm Harbor, FL)
Matt, since Buzz is probably begging down Michael Robinson at the moment. I'll answer your question: D'Brickashaw Ferguson...because it don't matter who's got the ball if they don't have blockin'; just ask David Carr, Dom Capers, and the shoulda been fired Charley Casserly.
Buzzmaster (2:50 PM)
Hang on, gonna go cruise the lobby real quick .. be right back.
Buzzmaster (3:07 PM)
Sorry about the delay there ... ran into agent David Canter. We're going to do a video diary with one his clients, Florida WR Chad Jackson. He's living in a mansion in Florida with 8 other draftees. It's like a NFL Draft Real World. Look for that in ESPN Motion in the coming weeks.
Mike (OH)
Buzz...it's your boss! They removed all of the food from the lobby a few minutes ago. Quit pretending that you are looking for players when you are really looking for food! Don't make me call Showgirl...
Buzzmaster (3:09 PM)
There are still some Krispy Kreme's out there. Every morning they put out about 50 dozen donuts.
Rick (Charleston, WV)
I think Todd McShay's criticism of Michael Robinson as a quarterback is unjustified. I watched every Penn State game this year and thought Michael did a great job. Considering JoePa only gave him one year to play full time at the QB position, I thought he was outstanding. If he still had another year to play it, I think he would grow by leaps and bounds just like Vince Young did at Texas. Teams that write him off at the QB position are making a mistake.
Pat
I totally agree with Rick.
Buzzmaster (3:16 PM)
Well, Robinson's got the rest of the week to change Todd's mind. We'll see.
Andy (Madison, WI)
Sorry Rick, if you watched all the PSU games this year how did you miss all of the wide open WR's Robinson missed. The guy is a great athlete but he has no chance of being a QB in the NFL. You'll see Jeff George back for you see Robinson starting at QB...
Buzzmaster (3:18 PM)
OK, the lobby is empty right now and everyone is at practice. We'll have another stream of players coming through starting at about 4:30 ET. If we can round anyone up before then, we will. Stay tuned.
Erich (Toledo, Ohio)
Yea Robinson is a lot smaller and no where near the passer that Young is. He is a nice runner though, i'd definitely give him a look elsewhere
DC (New York, NY)
Robinson will not be a Qb in the league....unless he is a Seneca Wallace type of player in Seatlle...3rd Qb that can help with trick plays and at Wr and returner...he's a great athlete for sure!
Mike (Naples)
He didn't do that poorly at all, Andy. He missed a few against Michigan State, but in other games, he was making great reads and throws.
Justin(PA)
Robinson will step up, like he has been doing!!
J.J. (Johnstown PA)
I would like to personally thank michael robinson. im not going to lie i was one of the guys who wrote him off as a QB. But he turned the team around and made penn state a great team. Thanks to him recruiting is up, and Penn States future looks bright. My sincere apologies to Michael for not believing in him from the start.
Andy (Arkansas)
Andy is Madison is just mad that Robinson torched Wisconsin's defense!!!
Bish(State College)
Michael Robinson coming on soon?
Buzzmaster (3:23 PM)
He might end up coming on tomorrow. So make sure you stay logged on today through Thursday. We don't always get much advanced notice when a guy is coming.
Buzzmaster (3:36 PM)
OK, just cruised the lobby again .. there is still hope of getting Robinson today. Buzz is on the case!
John (Buffalo)
Buzz - you are not used to working this hard....are you
Buzzmaster (3:37 PM)
No. All this walking around is tiring. I'm winded.
Buzzmaster (3:38 PM)
Maurice Stovall is here!
jesse
Maurice! What did Charlie Weis do for you as a player? Do you feel like he made you a better WR?
Maurice Stovall (3:39 PM)
For one, he made me lose weight. The way is offense is, it just put me in a better position to make plays.
Jay ( San Diego)
Is there any QB in the league you dream of playing with?
Maurice Stovall (3:40 PM)
Not really. But growing up I always liked Randall Cunningham.
Josh, Nashville
Have you caught any passes from Jay Cutler, yet? Is it hard to develop timing so quickly with unknown QB's?
Maurice Stovall (3:40 PM)
He throws the ball hard! We're getting our timing down.
John (Kansas)
Is Brady Quinn the next Tom Brady?
Maurice Stovall (3:40 PM)
I think he has a pretty good chance!
Jason (maryland)
Hey maurice, do you think your season was overshadowed by the season Jeff had?
Maurice Stovall (3:41 PM)
It doesn't really matter to me what people think. As long as my coaches and family know what I contributed to the team.
Wade (Nashville)
Maurice, who is the best DB you've gone against this week?
Maurice Stovall (3:42 PM)
Will Blackmon. He's just strong and has good hips and fast feet.
Os (NJ)
I'm hearing good things about your stock rising... congrats... is there any WR in the NFL that you could compare your style/skill to?
Maurice Stovall (3:42 PM)
Hmm... probably Terrell Owens.
John (Voorhees, NJ)
I was personally thrilled to see you come on so strong in your senior season, I had been telling people since you got on the field that you'd end up something special. What type of offense would be the best fit for you in the NFL?
Maurice Stovall (3:43 PM)
One that has a really balanced run and pass game.
Allison
Maurice, if you could go back on your college career, what is one thing you would have done differently?
Maurice Stovall (3:44 PM)
I would have made one more play to beat USC.
Pete (Philly)
Maurice, i went to HS down the road from ya (Radnor) and also went to Notre Dame, im pulling for the Eagles to take you as well, would you be pumped to play for the team you grew up near? or would it not make much of a difference.
Maurice Stovall (3:44 PM)
It doesn't make a difference. But I've always been an Eagles fan so that would be exciting.
joe (philly, pa)
who was your favorite coach to play for: Weis, Willingham, or Bielli?
Maurice Stovall (3:45 PM)
Bielli!
Brian, Lk. Mry, Fl
hey Maurice, do u think u guys were cheated outa ur win against usc
Maurice Stovall (3:45 PM)
No. They just made one more play than we did.
Chris (Chicago, IL)
Maurice, Do you think you have an advantage over other receivers heading to the NFL seeing as you've basically played in the Patriots' offense for a year?
Maurice Stovall (3:46 PM)
I think that is something teams might consider.
Os (NJ)
what team(s) do you feel have shown the most interest in you thus far? who have you met with?
Maurice Stovall (3:46 PM)
It's all about the same. They all seem interested.
Robert (Montana)
Maurice, do you wish you had a couple more years left with Charlie Weis?
Maurice Stovall (3:47 PM)
Definitely. Yes.
brad ( seattle )
i've heard that your probably going in the late first round any paticular team that you would like to get drafted by that has a high pick?
Maurice Stovall (3:47 PM)
Yeah, I've been hearing last first round, too. I think that's about right.
Cedric (Baton Rouge)
Got your XBOX360 yet?
Maurice Stovall (3:48 PM)
Couldn't find one!
Ben, Mobile, AL
Maurice, you guys getting to have nay fun around here? It sounds like all business, is there any play at all?
Maurice Stovall (3:48 PM)
There is a business part of it but the fun is being on the field.
Rafael (Blacksburg)
Have any other WRs at the Senior Bowl impressed you?
Maurice Stovall (3:48 PM)
Yes. All of them on the North team are impressive.
Dwight (scranton, pa)
Mo- what will you miss most and least about ND. What is it about the NFL that you are most looking forward to?
Maurice Stovall (3:49 PM)
I'll miss my teamattes the most. I won't miss the weather. As far as the NFL, I'm just looking forward to a change. Something new.
Mat (Scottsdale, AZ)
What happened at the Fiesta Bowl. With a month to prepare Weiss was supposed to put together a great gameplan, but you guys got flat out beat and out coached, what happened?
Maurice Stovall (3:50 PM)
We just didn't make enough plays. Simple as that.
dapper (pa)
do you feel as though you can jump right into a lineup in the NFL?
Maurice Stovall (3:51 PM)
I'll find that out in mini-camp! Thanks for the questions and taking the time to chat with me. I appreciate the interest. Go Irish!
Buzzmaster (3:51 PM)
Thanks, Mo!
Buzzmaster (3:52 PM)
Hang tight .. M-Rob .. did I just call him that? .. might be coming by soon.
Andy (Madison, WI)
Hey Buzz, where can I find a chat listing for the day now that it's not listed on the new ESPN frontpage?
Buzzmaster (3:52 PM)
It's there. Look under the poll to the right.
Buzzmaster (3:54 PM)
Arizona State WR Derek Hagan is coming up next in just a moment .. start sending your questions now!
Buzzmaster (3:56 PM)
And I just got word we WILL have Michael Robinson a little later .. so stick around for that ..
Tim (Auburn, AL)
Buzz, how about getting some local guys in here?
Buzzmaster (3:57 PM)
We will. Have patience.
Buzzmaster (3:58 PM)
Hagan is doing a TV thing right now where they are making him say "Today is the day the North dominates!" They're making him talk smack!
Buzzmaster (3:58 PM)
Now he's saying "I'm on the rise!"
Buzzmaster (3:59 PM)
"The time is now!"
Buzzmaster (3:59 PM)
This is getting cheesy. OK, here he comes.
Derek Hagan (4:00 PM)
Hello everyone.
Wade (Nashville)
Derek, how nervous were you yesterday when you were in front of everybody getting weighed and measured?
Derek Hagan (4:00 PM)
Nervous because I was the very last one to go. They were going alphabetical but I switched teams so I was last. All eyes were on me!
marc (nyc)
Who would you rather get hit by: Polamalu, Lynch, or Dawkins?
Derek Hagan (4:01 PM)
Polamalu because he is smaller and hasn't been around as long. I played against him in college.
Shawn (Tempe)
Derek, had a great time watching you guys play this past year. Which ASU QB do you see leading the team in the future?
Derek Hagan (4:02 PM)
I see Sam Keller leading the team. He got hurt last year and it unforunately ended his season. But he shouldn't lose his position just for getting hurt. But Rudy Carpenter did a wonderful job filling in.
Aaron
Does ASU have the best looking girls on the planet? And if not who's better?
Derek Hagan (4:03 PM)
I think ASU has the upper hand just because of the weather. Everyone loves the heat and loves to vacation there. Arizona is the place to be.
Max Cleveland, Ohio
Derek, Could you break a tackle by AJ Hawk?
Derek Hagan (4:03 PM)
I don't think AJ could keep up with me in the open field!
Chris (State College, PA)
Hey Derek, I just read your online draft bio. Looks like you don't have too many weaknesses. Do you think you can be an intant force in the NFL next year?
Derek Hagan (4:04 PM)
I think so. It all comes down to being prepared and working hard. I know I"ll be a rookie but I'll be learning from all the veterans that have been there.
Mike (Florence, MS)
Derek, how complicated is the playbook in an all-star game like the Senior Bowl?
Derek Hagan (4:04 PM)
Some of it is complicated but we have Norm Chow so I'm familar with some of it. Overall, I have the playbook down and shouldn't make any mistakes this weekend.
Pete from St. Pete
Derek, who was the best cornerback you faced in college?
Derek Hagan (4:05 PM)
I really don't think there was one. Nobody could keep up with me in one-on-one. It was all double and triple teams after the first couple games.
Dave (Hollywood)
Are they having you run routes that you are not used to?
Derek Hagan (4:06 PM)
Most of them I have run before. They are deeper but pretty much the same. You just have to know how to get in and out of your breaks.
Steve (Detroit)
Derek, How do you think you are going to do in the Senior Bowl?
Derek Hagan (4:07 PM)
I think I'll do pretty well. I know the gameplan and practice has gone well. They say the way you practice is how you will play in the game so I feel good.
Tony (NJ)
Derek, which QB at this event is impressing you the most?
Derek Hagan (4:07 PM)
All three QBs .. Whitehurts, Cutler and Robinson are all very different but good. They are all doing a great job.
Grant (LA)
pete smoked me on that question, Who had the worst pass defense you faced all year?
Derek Hagan (4:08 PM)
I'd say Temple. It was pretty bad. We knew what they were going to do and were just running right by them.
Aaron (Phoenix)
Are you going to surpass Rod Tidwell and be the greatest Sun Devil WR in the NFL
Derek Hagan (4:08 PM)
I think so! Cuba Gooding played a pretty good role representing the Sun Devils .. but I better pass him!
Ian from Indiana
What area of your game do you feel you could work on?
Derek Hagan (4:09 PM)
I really don't think I need to work on much. But whenever I step on the field there is always something I want to get better at .. blocking, finishing, etc.
Jake (Columbus, OH)
Derek- - Good luck this week, who delivered the hardest hit you took in college?
Derek Hagan (4:10 PM)
I think it was Frosty Rucker my sophomore year. He's a DE who dropped back about 20 yards and I didn't see him. He blew me up and I fumbled. I was dazed heading back to the sideline.
Shawn (Tempe)
As a real ASU fan, I would like to congradulate you on the victory against LSU this year, the refs are blind, the last TD shouldnt count.
Derek Hagan (4:11 PM)
I wish it didn't count either. But it's just one of those things. It happens once every blue moon and it just had to happen to us.
mitch ( houston)
mel kiper has you going to the Buccs in the first round on his mock draft, would you like to get picked by the buccs?
Derek Hagan (4:12 PM)
Wherever I go is fine. I have no control over that. I can't pull an Eli Manning. I'll be happy wherever I go.
Dave (Hollywood)
What will your 40 time be at the Combine?
Derek Hagan (4:12 PM)
My 40 time will be in the 4.4 range.
Chris (Utica New York
Derek, knowing that important people are watching. Does practicing at this event make it as intense as a game?
Derek Hagan (4:13 PM)
Whenever you are out there you want to go at full speed so yes, it feels like a game. We bust our tail out there. The game is easy in comparison.
Dan (AZ)
How do you see the Sun Devils doing next season, record-wise? Do you think Dirk deserved his contract extentsion?
Derek Hagan (4:14 PM)
I think they will improve from this past season. Us finishing at 7-5 was something we couldn't imagine. I feel this team next year has a chance to win the Pac-10. I'm pretty much the only player on offense they are losing. They should finish first or second in the Pac 10.
Russ (Dyersville, IA)
Which current NFL WR would you say you are most similar to?
Derek Hagan (4:15 PM)
If it was in the past I would say Jerry Rice. I always try to learn from watching. But with him being retired, I'd say Hines Ward even though he is smaller. I just like the way he does all the little things to help his team win.
Aaron (Phoenix)
Who has the worst looking cheerleaders in the Pac-10?
Derek Hagan (4:16 PM)
Oregon State.
Jack (Mobile, AL)
Would you rather this game be played here in Mobile or in a bigger city?
Derek Hagan (4:16 PM)
No. I have no preference. It's my first time here so I'm just out sightseeing and going ot practice everyday.
Blake from Oklahoma
Do you like Mike Stoops?
Derek Hagan (4:17 PM)
He's a good coach but he's a wildcat. The rivalry between Sun Devils and Wildcats is very intense. But he's a good coach. I've talked to him a couple times.
Jason (Jacksonville, FL)
How about Jacksonville? How would you feel if you got drafted by htem? Are they a good fit for you?
Derek Hagan (4:18 PM)
Any team would be a good fit for me! Just coming in as a rookie I have to learn my role and learn from the veterans who have been there before me.
Andrew Walters (Oakland)
Hey, Derek. Who do you think is better, me or Sam Keller?
Derek Hagan (4:19 PM)
Wow! I'd say you are both great QBs. I had a great time with Walters. Now it's Sam's turn. He has taken over. Andrew has moved on and maybe someday Sam can also end up in the NFL. Thanks for the question. Go Devils!
Buzzmaster (4:19 PM)
Thanks, Derek!
Buzzmaster (4:20 PM)
OK, how many seconds before somebody sends in a google image of the Oregon State cheerleaders?
Jason (Jax, FL)
Who's the next guest?
Buzzmaster (4:22 PM)
Don't know yet .. but stay tuned. M-Rob is still a possibility.
Os (NJ)
as requested: http://oregonstate.edu/dept/osucheer/images/Nationals%2005/team%20w%20trophy%2005%20smaller%20cropped.jpg
Buzzmaster (4:24 PM)
Yeah, that didn't take long. The government now thinks you have a thing for Oregon State cheerleaders.
Carey SC
Buzz, who makes you say "wow, he's a future star"?
Buzzmaster (4:24 PM)
Nobody yet, but it's early.
Dave(Philly)
Honestly Buzz, in the words of the demi-god Sean Salisbury, you are stealing your paycheck right now.
Buzzmaster (4:26 PM)
If you say my paycheck you would know that isn't exactly a capital crime.
Dave (philly)
Hmm... I don't know if I'd call them the worst looking bunch around, but then again, he was comparing them to the rest of the Pac10. Has anyone even looked at Stanford? Or are they too smart to have cheerleaders?
Jess
i though this was over at 3?
Buzzmaster (4:29 PM)
Nah, we keep going. There are other chats going on starting at 3 that you could join, but why would you want to? Isn't the Buzz enough?
Matt(Central PA)
Hurry up and get Michael Robinson in here, I have to leave work soon and then I'll be using my own resources and thats not fair!
Buzzmaster (4:30 PM)
Workin' on it!
Lael (San Juan, PR)
Buzz is stretching it for overtime.
Buzzmaster (4:32 PM)
We'll be here until probably 6 ET through Thursday. On Friday we won't have any players but Mel Kiper will stop by to break down the week.
Dave (Philly)
Central PA??? I grew up there, they don't have resources unless you include a horse and buggy in that category
Big John (???)
Have you taken a poll of the players on who they think will win the Super Bowl? If not, you should. That will give you something to do.
Buzzmaster (4:34 PM)
So far everyone has said Steelers.
Buzzmaster (4:35 PM)
Da Brick! D'Brickashaw Ferguson will be here in just a few minutes!
Mike, Naples
What's M-Rob doing right now?
Buzzmaster (4:36 PM)
Sleeping. Seriously. But he'll be here later.
Buzzmaster (4:38 PM)
D'Brickashaw is also doing the "The time is now!" stick.
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:39 PM)
Hello!
Buzzmaster (4:40 PM)
How has practice been so far?
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:40 PM)
So far it's been really intense. Everybody here is a great athlete. You have to be on your Ps and Qs but that is what makes it fun.
Matt (Columbia, SC)
D'Brick, is mathias hard to block?
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:41 PM)
He's very versatile. He's a top competitor for sure.
John
Are you going to refer to them as pancake blocks or "Brick Layers" in the NFL?
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:41 PM)
Might as well go brick layers. I like that.
Mike, Naples
D'Brickashaw, what are your thoughts on the limited fame/credit that offensive lineman get? Does it bother you?
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:42 PM)
It doesn't bother me. As offensive linemen, I get joy out of protecting my QB and making a successful block. An OL not getting attention is probably a good thing. If you know the OL, it's usually a bad thing because of what he did or didn't do.
Aaron (Phoenix)
Whats the funniest thing thats happened during the week so far? And who's your roomie for the week?
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:42 PM)
I've met a lot of funny guys so far. The person they assigned as my roomate isn't here so I have my own room.
Charlie (Ann Arbor)
Brick, anyone make fun of your name growing up? If so, what are you going to do them once you get your sign-on bonus?
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:43 PM)
They were more in awe of the name because it's so long. They would ask me how long it took to learn how to spell it. But I'm not a mean guy. I just let it go. I'm cool.
Jeremy (MN)
Give me your Overall rating for madden. (Out of 100) Pass Blocking, Run Blocking?
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:44 PM)
I don't know! I have no idea. I don't play video games.
Vince (williamsport,pa)
Me and my boys have been tryin to compare you to a current NFL star...I say Chris Samuels......Just wondering who you would compare yourself to.
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:45 PM)
Lomas Brown. He's a retired LT with the Giants. I've been told we have similarities.
O.C. H-town
what positions did you play in highschool? Did you like Defense?
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:45 PM)
Defensive end and tackle on both sides.
Phil Slidell, LA
I know that it is off topic, but have you heard anything on wether Brett will return and play for the Pack another year. He lives 15 min from me, but wont get off that dang tractor!
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:46 PM)
Who knows if he will be back. It's hard to say.
Donny-Los Angeles, CA
Coach Parcells in Dallas needs an OT, have any Dallas scouts been in contact? Crossing my fingers.
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:46 PM)
I haven't had the chance to talk to Dallas as of yet.
Justin, Orlando
D'Brickshaw, do you see yourself putting on any weight once you get into the NFL, to deal with the more powerful lineman in the league?
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:47 PM)
I'm flexible. If I need to I could put on the necessary lbs to be the most effective player I can be.
Steve
What was Al Grogh's advice to you as a former NFL coach?
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:49 PM)
He gave me insight into all the various aspects of what it is to be an NFL player. We broke down some tape, talked about having an agent, all of it.
Chris (Tampa)
Brick, who's the baddest DL at the South practice?
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:50 PM)
Everybody has their own special talent. I'd say Tapp, Kiwanuka, Adeyanjua .. they are all great. That's why they are here.
Stephen, Orange County CA
There is speculation that you could go #4 to New York or #5 to Green Bay. A) How would you feel playing the Big City? B) How would you feel protecting Brett Favre, if he comes back?
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:51 PM)
I wouldn't mind either. NY would be coming home so that would be great.
Greg
Leg Press or Squat?
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:52 PM)
I like squats. But presses are just as effective.
Jessica, Boston
have you talked to anyone from the Patriots organization? What do you think of them?
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (4:53 PM)
Yes. It went OK. All the teams are about the same. Thanks for the questions and all the support. I hope to continue doing all I can to be the best player I can be. Take care.
Buzzmaster (4:54 PM)
Thanks, Brick!
Buzzmaster (4:54 PM)
Wow, he's an impressive guy. Very cool.
Jared, Traverse City
Buzz, is it boring at all to sit and do this all day?
Buzzmaster (5:01 PM)
Nah, not at all. These are all really cool guys. Nice to see them up close.
Wade (Nashville)
*Nodding my head to the Jeopardy! music* Who's next, Buzz?
Buzzmaster (5:03 PM)
Gonna cruise the lobby and see who we can find.
Big John (???)
I think it would be very interesting to get one of the Senior Bowl coaches to talk to. Get a coach Buzz!!!
Buzzmaster (5:06 PM)
Oh, we've tried. But they are here on a mission and don't have time for interviews.
Dave (Hollywood)
Buzz, is Showgirl bored sitting back in Bristol?
Buzzmaster (5:06 PM)
ShowGirl is packing her bags for the Winter X Games.
Ralph, Clarksville
Buzz, what do we have to do to get your job next year?
Buzzmaster (5:07 PM)
Bribe me with gumbo, bar-b-q and a Whataburger.
joe (penn state)
What is Robinson doing sleeping at 4:00 in the afternoon? Maybe you could take some of those corn fritters and wake him up.
matt - mobile, al
hey buzz...when you said Buzzmaster: (1:22 PM ET ) "The Little Chicken". didn't you mean "the little kitchen"?
Buzzmaster (5:09 PM)
Yes. Freudian Slip. Had Chicken Fried Steak at the Little Kitchen.
Jared, Traverse City
Buzz come on your letting us all down, grab Deangelo Williams!
Buzzmaster (5:11 PM)
Patience! We have plenty of time between now and Thursday. D'Angelo will make a visit.
Mark(Bowling Green)
Yo Buzz, I just read that some of the NFL officials said they would take Jay Cutler over Lienart and Young. What is it that they see in Jay Cutler? vs. latter.
Buzzmaster (5:15 PM)
Haven't heard anyone say that around here. That sounds like wishful thinking.
Chris (State College, PA)
Buzz, who's next man?
Buzzmaster (5:17 PM)
Workin' on it.
Buzzmaster (5:19 PM)
Michael Robinson is on his way ... and because I made you wait ... we're grabbing Tamba Hali as well.
joe (penn state)
I told you corn fritters would work!
Adam (State College)
Buzz keeps promising M-Rob. If he doesn't deliver soon we should form a lynch mob.
Kristin (Huntington Beach, CA)
Buzz, if you deliver on Tamba with MRob, I'll forgive you for all the waiting !!
joe (penn state)
Or we can just have Tamba sit on him!
matt - mobile, al
hey buzz, since it's time to eat again, there is an EXCELLENT bbq joint on government you might want to look into - saucy q. best bbq in town, i promise.
Buzzmaster (5:28 PM)
Yeah, drove by it. We're hittin' the Original Oyster House tonight.
joe (penn state)
If Robinson is this elusive in the NFL he'll make a lot of money.
matt - mobile, al
can't go wrong with the original oyster house. they are excellent too. they just reopened in the past couple of months. they were washed away when katrina hit.
Buzzmaster (5:31 PM)
Yeah, we figured as much when we drove by the other night. How did Felix's survive?
Kristin (Huntington Beach, CA)
You can't go to dinner til after MRob and Tamba are here! Joe, Adam, Chris, and I have been patiently waiting!
Buzzmaster (5:33 PM)
Understood.
Bill (Tusc., AL)
Hey Buzz, have you heard anything so far about Brodie Croyle?
Buzzmaster (5:34 PM)
Just that he's the fan favorite this week.
Chris (Utica New York)
Cmon buzz, I'm sitting here at my dealership and there is nobody to sell a car to so I need some kind of excitement.
Buzzmaster (5:36 PM)
We're waiting as well .. but soon the clouds will part and M-Rob and Tamba will grace us with their presence. Have faith.
Phil (Long Beach)
Maybe MRob bumped into Scout's Todd McShay on the way here and had to settle some things?
Buzzmaster (5:40 PM)
Hmm.. that's possible. Better go check the lobby.
Buzzmaster (5:44 PM)
OK, no sign of a struggle. That's good.
Buzzmaster (5:45 PM)
We also might have Miami OL Eric Winston and Michigan DL Gabe Watson stopping by as well ..
Kyle (Las Vegas, Nevada)
Empty promises...
Mat (Scottsdale, AZ)
Buzz is Jake Plummer'ing this chat.
Buzzmaster (5:49 PM)
Hey now! That was a cheap shot!
Buzzmaster (5:50 PM)
Eric Winston is here!
Eric Winston (5:51 PM)
Hey everyone.
Buzzmaster (5:51 PM)
Tell us about your week so far. How's it been?
Eric Winston (5:55 PM)
I don't think you can ever prepare for something like this. Imagine every NFL person you have ever seen and they are all here. It's overwhelming. But the practices have been what I've expected and it has been a lot of fun.
Mike/ Midland, Texas
Eric, Was the competition in one and team drills today similar to game conditions with so many scout in attendance.
Eric Winston (5:55 PM)
It's up there. Everyone is competing at a really high level. You can never really simulate a game but guys were really flying around out there today.
Mike (Florence, MS)
Eric, how much does crowd noise affect a lineman's ability to remain in a stance?
Eric Winston (5:56 PM)
It can be tough at the tackle position. You have to have one eye on the ball and one eye on the defender. But that is part of football and what is so great about homefield advantage.
Phil (Long Beach)
Eric, is Cristobal going to take over Art's job as OL coach? Throw me some info, please!
Eric Winston (5:57 PM)
I really don't know. I hope so. I'm sure there are lots of great candidates that could come in but he's a very talented coach and would bring a lot of great qualities to the position. Miami would do themselves right by going that route.
Brant, Austin TE
Eric.....Who was the hardest defensive player you blocked this year....It can be be a DE or a DT?
Eric Winston (5:58 PM)
Man, that's tough. I saw some good ones. Wimbley from FSU was really good. The safety from LSU played really well.
Aaron (PHX)
Which actor play you in the Eric Winston story? Im thinking a young Burt Peynolds
Eric Winston (5:59 PM)
I was thinking of Dolf Lundgren back in the Masters of the Universe days.
Adam (Lawrence ks)
Whats the worst thing you have done to someone/ had done to you at the bottom of a pile?
Eric Winston (6:00 PM)
Usually you can't move much so there isn't much room to manuever. Not too many bad things go on. If the ball is loose it's a different story. Then things can get ugly. But usually everyone just wants to get off everyone else.
Chris (Utica NY)
Hey Eric, Let me ask you a question. Is it all about the U this year at the senior bowl?
Eric Winston (6:02 PM)
It's always about the U! It's cool being here with all the other guys. It's great to meet all of them. Thanks for the questions! I wish I could stay longer but I have to run.
Buzzmaster (6:02 PM)
Thanks, Eric. Good luck on Saturday.
Phil (Long Beach)
Buzz, it is obvious why Hali is not here yet. He has been kept from the chat by the unbelievable blocking talents of Eric Winston.
Buzzmaster (6:08 PM)
Gonna go cruise the lobby again for M-Rob ...
Buzzmaster (6:10 PM)
M-ROB IS IN THE HOUSE .. he will be here in approximately 3 minutes.
Buzzmaster (6:12 PM)
Keep sending your questions for Michael Robinson .. he's almost here!
Michael Robinson (6:15 PM)
Hey everyone.
Kristin (Huntington Beach, CA)
Mike Rob, would you prefer to go higher in the draft for a team that wants to convert you to a WR/RB? or drop lower for the chance to be an NFL QB? Come play for Pittsburgh and help us create a dynasty! Good Luck this week! WE ARE... !!
Michael Robinson (6:16 PM)
I would definitely want to go higher in the draft. This is a good chance for me to show people my versatility. I just want a shot at QB and I can go from there.
Jerome, Checotah, OK
Hey Michael....There's all this talk about Vince Young and Matt Leinart. Are you mad because you dont get the credit that you deserve like those two?
Michael Robinson (6:17 PM)
I'm not upset. They deserve all the praise they get. They were great QBs for three and four years. I can't ask to be put up there with them. But at the same time, I do think I deserve a little something. We were the No. 3 team in the country.
Kristin (Huntington Beach, CA)
Mike, what was the toughest D that you faced this season? Anything you would change about your career so far? WE ARE..!!
Michael Robinson (6:18 PM)
By far was Florida State. Their defensive speed was unreal.
ricky (charlotte)
mike you are the man...how does it feel to know this season you guys had has opened the door for this huge recruiting class? you put psu back on the map
Michael Robinson (6:19 PM)
That feels great. Hopefully our seniors can leave Penn State and let everyone know PSU has a winning tradition. A lot of recruits understand that we have a blueprint to win. I think our guys will be alright.
Alan (Oakland, PA)
Michael, do you think Pitt and Penn State should renew their rivalry with each other?
Michael Robinson (6:19 PM)
Most definitely. No question. Every other school has an in-state rival, why can't we? It would be a great game every year.
Jason (Baltimore, MD)
Mike, Please defend yourself against the people who think that you "project" to a WR or a RB in the NFL. What skills do you have that would translate into the NFL at the QB position?
Michael Robinson (6:21 PM)
My ability to make plays outside of the pocket, to change things up when the play doesn't go as planned and my ability to read defenses. Most people automaticaly label me as not being accurate or not being able to read defense and I have no idea why.
W (State College, Pa)
Mike, How is the pace different in practice this week as compared to the PSU staff??
Michael Robinson (6:22 PM)
It's been a little more easy-going. Paterno is always going 125 MPH. The entire practice is full speed at PSU. There is no time to think about things. You just do it. We have very uptempo practices. The games actually seem slower.
Brad (Washington, DC)
You were so busy lighting up the Big Ten that we didn't get to see much of Anthony Morelli. What's in store for next year?
Michael Robinson (6:22 PM)
Anthony will be alright. Obviously he has some maturing to do but he has a big-time arm. If he can stay in his playbook and understand defenses, I think he will be alright.
Jason (Baltimore, MD)
Mike, how did it feel to raise the orange bowl trophy knowing that your team brought Penn State back to national prominence and got the critics off JoePa's back?
Michael Robinson (6:23 PM)
First of all, to raise that trophy was heavy. It wasn't easy. But it felt good knowing we let people know that JoePa is still a great coach. We let them know we are still a great team. It felt really really good.
Chris(Utica NY)
Yo Mike, pregame music, Luda or Kanye?
Michael Robinson (6:24 PM)
Ludacris. Probably because I'm a Southern guy.
Joe (Bloomsburg, PA)
what do you think of NOW telling Coach Paterno to resign?
Michael Robinson (6:25 PM)
You can't please everybody. A lot of times Coach Paterno gets taken the wrong way. He never means to hurt anybody. They justt need to leave him alone.
Sean Philadelphia,PA
I read somewhere that you & Donovan McNabb talk every now & then. Would you like to play here in Philly w/ D-Mac??
Michael Robinson (6:26 PM)
After I got injured last year I did talk to him. I would not mind playing for Philly or any team that would draft me.
Chris (Utica NY)
Mike, I see you as a well rounded QB, Do you think its fair that you have been labeled as a scrambler and not a passer because all the focus was on Joe P. this year?
Michael Robinson (6:27 PM)
It's not fair. But at the same time I do run around a lot. Like I said before, I don't know where the labels come from. You just get them tatooed on you.
Kris (State College)
What was the best advice Paterno gave you?
Michael Robinson (6:27 PM)
Just to be myself. Not to worry about what people say.
tim (philly, pa)
hey mike, whats going on? i'm a junior in high school and i've been following PSU football since i was in 6th grade. do you feel disrespected by the talks of where you might go in the draft? i feel you are, after all, you were 5th in the heisman voting.
Michael Robinson (6:29 PM)
I don't worry about that. I know it's their job to talk about stuff like that but you can't get upset about other people's opinions. You have to realize most of those people have never played a down of football in their life.
Andrew (State College)
Hey Mike, Skeller or Lion's Den?
Michael Robinson (6:29 PM)
Lion's Den.
Kristin (Huntington Beach, CA)
Mike, What is the hardest part of this whole week?
Michael Robinson (6:30 PM)
Trying to find time to sleep.
Aaron PHX
Would you guys have beaten Texas?
Michael Robinson (6:30 PM)
It's tough to say now. They are a great team. I just would have loved the chance to see how we matched up.
Jim (central PA)
Who would you like to run over the most in the NFL? p.s. great season...WE ARE
Michael Robinson (6:30 PM)
I just want to get there first. I can't start any speculations now. I don't even have a check yet!
Jim (State College, PA)
Being from VA, have you been in touch with Marcus Vick? What do you think about his long list of troubles at VTech?
Michael Robinson (6:32 PM)
I have never talked to him. But I wish him luck. Thanks for the questions and thanks for all your interest in me and Penn State. Keep praying for me. Take care.
Buzzmaster (6:32 PM)
Thanks, Mike. Get some sleep and have a good practice tomorrow!
Buzzmaster (6:33 PM)
OK, Tamba had to run. Sorry about that. 1-for-2.
Buzzmaster (6:34 PM)
OK, folks that's going to wrap things up for today. But we'll be back tomorrow starting around 1 ET. We'll have a bunch more players stopping by so be sure to log on!
joe (penn state)
Thanks for chatting Mike! Buzz, thanks for tracking him down!
Buzzmaster (6:34 PM)
No problem! Talk to you again tomorrow! It's off to the Original Oyster House! Thanks!
Buzzmaster (6:34 PM)
Hold on! Nevermind!
Buzzmaster (6:36 PM)
Wait! False alarm. We thought we had an Elvis sighting but no. See you tomorrow!
