Send in a question to any of our guests (just scroll down and use the white fields below) OR, if you don't have a question but just have something to say about a game going on this weekend, submit your comments and you could see them pop up on your TV screen.
No matter when or what you send us, be sure to include your name and your hometown! YOU are SportsNation, we're checking YOUR PULSE.
The Pulse (5:17 PM)
The Pulse returns on Saturday, live on ESPNEWS and right here on ESPN.com at 1 p.m. ET! It's your chance to take over a program!
The Pulse (5:18 PM)
We've got a tremendous guest list this week, so fire off your questions for any of these folks: Vince Young, Chris Paul, Dominque Wilkins, Troy Aikman, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Ricky Hatton, Jim Thome, Andy Katz, Ric Bucher, Joe Lunardi and even the dog that won Westminster!
The Pulse (11:15 AM)
All right, we're just about 90 minutes away from today's show, and you've been sending in some fantastic questions for our guests.
The Pulse (11:16 AM)
But we also want your opinions and views. So if you've got predictions or rants on the Daytona 500 or Kobe Bryant's image, send them off now!
Ronny (NY)
Im with Tony Stewart. I also think there will be a crash in Daytona and we will be honoring another driver. NASCCAR in my opinion is to unsafe and the risk of death is highest in this sport more than any other.
The Pulse (12:40 PM)
All right, that's what we're talking about. We're making final preparations for the show, but we're looking for your take on Daytona and NASCAR in general.
clay (ft myers)
500 prediction- 1-Matt Kenseth 2-Earnhardt Jr 3-Jay Leno (With most laps led)
The Pulse (12:46 PM)
I know we've got some NASCAR fans out there. SportsNation voters said the 500 was the biggest event of the weekend.
Jennifer Mathis (Battle Creek, MI)
I am praying against someone dying during the 500 and the race today. Nascar has always been inherientaly dangouros, especially the way some drivers choose to bump draft.
The Pulse (12:47 PM)
That's one of the big topics this week, to be sure.
The Pulse (12:49 PM)
Anyone have a sleeper driver to watch on Sunday, or for the season in general? Any tips you want to share with the nation?
Jennifer Mathis (Battle Creek, MI)
I've been watching Nascar since I was 10.
Ronny (NY)
A slepper driver?? About Brian Vickers.
The Pulse (12:51 PM)
What do you like about Vickers' ride for this season, Ronny?
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
Jamie McMurray has a good starting position, and I think he might be able to finish strong. Also I think Jimmie Johnson will do well without his crew chief.
Victor alexandria,la
i said it last year i dont watch nascar.
The Pulse (12:52 PM)
You're in an increasingly small minority on that, Victor.
Ronny (NY)
I like the speeds he put up in the polls.
Jennifer Mathis (Battle Creek, MI)
Carel Edwards, after his consistant run at the end of last season if he continues that consistantce he could win the championship.
Brad Roberts (Louisville,KY)
I look for Denny Hamlin to have a break out year and join Nascar's elite in the next couple seasons
The Pulse (12:56 PM)
By the way, we'll have Troy Aikman, Rusty Wallace and others from Daytona early in the show today.
Ethan (Starkville Mississippi
Nascar is not that interesting. Cars go around in circles.
The Pulse (12:57 PM)
Wow, that has to be a rare opinion in Starkville, Ethan.
Steve Bunin (12:57 PM)
Hey Pulsites! Welcome to another show. Big show today - maybe our biggest ever! Vince Young, Jim Thome, Chris Paul, Dominique Wilkins among others -- send us your Q's, and tell me - who would YOU take #1 in the NFL draft: Reggie, Vince, or Matt?
Justin H. (MountainTop,Pa)
I dont like people who just watch for the crashes they're not real Nascar fans.
Jennifer Mathis (Battle Creek, MI)
Just curious do any of the drivers listen to contempory Christian music, could you guys ask them that?
The Pulse (12:58 PM)
We'll have NASCAR guests all season, Jennifer, so we'll see if we can ask a few of them.
The Pulse (1:01 PM)
And where else do you get the anchors chatting with you live during the show? Steve Bunin and Dari Nowkhah will be in here all afternoon, so give 'em some good material!
The Pulse (1:01 PM)
What do you all think of Steve's question? Who would you take No. 1?
Ronny (NY)
Reggie!! No question. U dont get RB's like this in the draft anymore but u will get QB's like Lienart and Young in the draft.
Justin H. (MountainTop,Pa)
Steve is always right herr at the pulse on Saturdays.
Ryan (VT)
If I was picking for the Texans, it wouldn't be Reggie, Vince, or Matt. Domanick Davis has been spectacular considering the offensive line he's been working with. If Texans stop throwing games and pick D'Brickashaw, they can be a competitive team.
Justin H. (MountainTop,Pa)
We need something different then quaterbacks going first every year.
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
I would take Reggie Bush number one. The Texans already have a QB who should be given one more year to develop. Plus Reggie Bush can help you by catching the ball, running it, and taking punt returns.
Bob-Houston,TX
Vince is a great representative for Houston, but D'Brickashaw is the clear choice with a trade down.
Ted (Portland,ME)
Houston should trade down for more help.
Victor alexandria,la
reggie bush 1 vince young 2 and matt 3.
Evan Wooster (NY)
I would take Steve Young, between him and Leinart and Bush he is the only one who won in the cluch when Leinart and Bush won they won in blowouts.
The Pulse (1:08 PM)
I think the Texans would like a young Steve Young as well, Evan. But we'll assume you meant Vince ... who is coming up next on the Pulse!
Ron (NY)
If you pick Lienart or Young, Carr is worthless but if you pick Bush, you can at least do some plays with both RB's.
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
The problem with taking a QB number one is that there is a chance they will be a bust more so than Running Backs. Think of guys like Akili Smith, Ryan Leaf, etc.
The Pulse (1:10 PM)
How about Blair Thomas, Curtis Enis or other high-profile RBs who didn't go to Penn State? Plenty of busts there ...
Evan Wooster (NY)
Vince should reject the titans and the Texans and all that other nonsense, he should go to the jets they need a quarterback, they have a great runningback, a good defense and the Texans and Titans have no future what so ever.
Trevor (Hays, KS)
wheres vince?
Steve Bunin (1:10 PM)
On the air with Dari!
Steve Bunin (1:10 PM)
Good point, Dieter - but you can also land Peyton or Carson. That's why GMs get sucked into it. My thing is: Brees, Brady, Hasselbeck, Favre, Bulger ... MOST of the great QBs right now were NOT #1-picks or even high first-rdrs.
Erik (San Dimas, CA)
The Texans made the biggest mistake for picking up the option on David Carr.
Dave (detroit mi)
With the detroit Lions keeping Joey Harrington will the lions draft a QB or go after one in the free agency? and who?
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
I say the Lions sign Antwaan Randle El and let him play QB.
Steve Bunin (1:16 PM)
Dave - as a former Michigan resident, I empathize w/Lions fans, and you'd hope they learned from the JOEY debacle... I'd stockpile OL and DL in the first 3 rounds and pick up a QB on Day 2 - maybe Omar Jacobs of B.Green or B.Croyle of Alabama.
Eli (New Orleans)
The Texans will select a quality great all around weapon for David Carr and that will be Reggie Bush, I know what it is like to have a great all around RB in Tiki Barber, so trust me on this, the Texans will select Bush
PAUL (chicago)
the texans need to get a playmaker., carr and davis are ok but they don't have anyone thats great
Peyton G. (VA )
I Belive If Vince Young Drops They Will Take Him But I Belive Miami Is Going To Trade Up To Get Either Young or Jay Cutler if They Do Not Presue Daunte Culpepper.
The Pulse (1:18 PM)
Every week, someone loves the shift key just a little too much. But good take, Peyton.
Ryan (VT)
Lions need to use Free Agency to pick up some help on the offensive line, and use the draft to get a solid safety or linebacker
Ron (NY)
Vince Young=Next Steve Mcnair
Anthony martin (Bristol,PA)
I think lions will chase drew brees
alex (canada)
the lions should trade up and get ferguson
Jonathan Mejia (Johnson City, TX)
I think that Vice Young shoul go to Houston because they are in need of a quarterback then a runnig back
Tyler (Ky)
Who whould the saints pick Young or Leinart?
Steve Bunin (1:19 PM)
Tyler - I'd say Leinart. Alex Smith is just the latest QB who threw out o fthe shotgun in college and struggled as a pro (Tim Couch, etc...) -- Now, certainly Vince is a different kind of prospect - huge guy, for one - but Leinart could step in right away and be a mid-level QB as a rookie.
Nick (Houston)
Why was picking up the option on Carr a mistake??? He's a GOOD QB. He just needs more than 0.7s to throw the ball. QB is not the problem with the team, OL and playcalling is
Peyton VA
What Do Think All The Scenarios Are With D'Brick and Will The Texans Persue Him at All or Could He Fall To Someone Like Oakland?
Steve Bunin (1:21 PM)
Peyton - If I were the Texans, and I could get a top-5 pick, plus a stud OL, I'd take that trade, then take D'Brickshaw, and get a RB in the 2nd round. Remember - Chargers gave up the opportunity to get Vick, ended up with L.T. and Brees. And the Texans NEED o-linemen...
PAUL (chicago)
miami needs larry csonka, he can probobly play two more years
Daniel P. (Kentucky)
I would take Reggie Bush number 1 so Vince can go to Tennessee.
Dylan (Wisconsin)
They should take Reggie
Evan Wooster (NY)
The Jets should trade Chad for a first round draft pick
Anthony martin (Bristol,PA)
who will go 1#?
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
I think the Miami Dolphins need to sign Brees rather than draft a QB. He is a young proven QB and I think he can grow with the young players of the Dolphins.
alex (canada)
saints should take leinartbecause wes smart and knows the winning formula
Evan Moskowitz (Clark NJ)
I wonder if the Jets select Ferguson how is reputation with the media will pan out.
Steve Bunin (1:22 PM)
Evan - not well. But it'd be the wisest pick.
Andrew (Flushing, NY)
I love today's technology. I'm creating the 1st round draft class of the 2006 NFL Draft using Madden NFL 06. I'm gonna simulate how all of the prospects will do in the NFL. I'll let you know how it goes.
Jesse (Norfolk, VA)
Leinart will help Tennessee get better if he gets drafted by them
Austin (MI)
Why Do You Type Like This It Takes For Ever
Steve Bunin (1:23 PM)
Ha -- Austin - nice work, but hey, whatever works for each Pulsite. Joe Lunardi, Bracketologist coming up (Big Dance preview, NCAA hoops) -- send him your questions ASAP and if they're good enough, we'll get 'em on the air!
Ron (NY)
Shouldn't Tennessee pick Lienart and not Vince Young?? Wouldn't it make sense to have a Matt Lienart and Norm Chow reunion??
Jesse (Norfolk, VA)
Texans will get bush and become better within the next two years
The Pulse (1:24 PM)
Nice work on the NFL, folks. We'll have D'Brickashaw Ferguson in a bit later.
The Pulse (1:24 PM)
But for now, we're sliding over to college hoops. Joe Lunardi is up next to talk Bracketology.
The Pulse (1:25 PM)
But how about all of you? Aside from Duke and UConn, who are your picks for March?
alex (canada)
we will have a very exciting NIT
The Pulse (1:25 PM)
Easy there, Alex. Or we'll start talking about Swiss hockey.
Tom (Springfield,MA)
Beware of Boston College people, They finally have woken up from the big east hangover. Sean Williams is a beast to wrecken with.
Austin (MI)
Michigan State all the way!!!
Ron (NY)
Aside from Duke and UConn??? It shoud be, Aside from Duke and VILLANOVA
joseph (deerfield, illinois)
I think Texas will win it all, and then they will win the college world series and be national champs in all three major sports!!
Andrew (Flushing, NY)
The Zags are definitely gonna make it. They're a possible #1 seed.
Ryan (Boston,MA)
BC(Bias Pick) Gonzaga.
Rod Fort Knox, KY
Who do you think gets the number one seeds in each of the four brackets and who are the sleepers?
The Pulse (1:28 PM)
Joe just said he thinks Villanova gets the final No. 1, pushing Memphis to a No. 2
diesel
texas aandm corpus christi will be in the tourney.
clay , ft myers
no sec bias , but i like what tennesee is doing and hope the gators get on a good roll
Dari Nowkhah (1:28 PM)
Diesel... no way... not as an independent, should have beaten Mizzou though
Dari Nowkhah (1:28 PM)
Diesel... no way... not as an independent, should have beaten Mizzou though
Bob(Houston-TX)
Where are the guests? Where's Vince?
Dari Nowkhah (1:29 PM)
Bob... you just missed Vince... Hook 'em
Victor alexandria,la
duke villanova uconn. and memphis are my number one seeds as well.
Jesse (Norfolk, VA)
Duke, Memphis, UFlorida, UCONN are going to the final four
chauncey (teaneck)
4 number ones Duke Uconn Gonzaga Memphis
chauncey (teaneck)
and watch out for Georgetown
tom* (parkville, md)
The team that's starting to scare me is Ohio State. I could see them in the Final Four if they aren't in Duke's or UConn's bracket.
Eli (Pittsburgh)
Dari we finally got ESPNEWS at School I missed the pulse but now its back and I couldnt be happier
Dari Nowkhah (1:30 PM)
Eli, you gotta transfer then, man!
PAUL (chicago)
jj redick is gonna go to the bobcats in the nba draft
The Pulse (1:32 PM)
Easy, Paul, easy. We've got to get through March first!
David (Calabasas, CA)
Stanford will not only make the tournament, they will have a big run with their 3 Big Seniors in the tournament.
alex (canada)
Dari were did you go to school
chris (ohio)
watch out for a young tar heel team that could know off a high seed, maybe even a 2 to make the elite 8. Hansbrough can go off at any time (i.e. the GT game on Wed.) and the heels re also coached by the great motivator
Dari Nowkhah (1:33 PM)
What's up Alex... I went to Oklahoma! Boomer Sooner!!
Jesse (Norfolk, VA)
i think the best upset will be memphis beating duke in the tourney if they have a chance
Bob(Houston,TX)
I don't want to have to watch the famous ESPN 'Missing Offensive Line' commercial anymore. Pick D'Brickashaw Ferguson.
Conor NY
Jonathan wut r u talking about david carr is amazing he just doesnt have an offensive line
Eli (Pittsburgh)
How cant the olympics be number 1 IT ONLY HAPPENS ONCE EVERY 4 YEARS
Ben (Orangecity, NY)
Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk, GO KU!
Rob (NY)
After their recent issues of the field and rumor of trading Culpepper.... I have two questions..the first being who should the Vikings draft? Also where is most likely place Culpepper could be traded to?
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
I think Oklahoma and Iowa will get deep into the tourney and one of them might possilbly knock of a high seed.
Dari Nowkhah (1:38 PM)
you go Dieter!
Steve Bunin (1:38 PM)
Rob - the problem for the Vikes is -- Culpepper can barely stand. His knee is in bad shape, so who's gonna trade for him? He may not play at all in '06, and may never be the same again. Plus, he wasn't even mediocre in '05 before he got hurt. Vikes will probably have to cut him.
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
I think David Carr has one more year left to prove himself, otherwise he's out. It might be a good idea to sign a veteran backup such as Jon Kitna this offseason just in case he can't make ith through this year.
Steve Bunin (1:39 PM)
Dieter - you're not wrong, but there's NO WAY the Bengals are letting Kitna go. Like Culpepper, if C.palmer can't heal up, Cincy needs Kitna. He might earn a big deal w/the Bengals.
chris (ohio)
anyway... back to basketball, how about an Ohio State team as a bracket buster... the pieces are in place, a coach who has taken a middle seed to an eliete 8 (matta with xavier in 04), and a group of shooters who can scorch the nets, like the michigan game when they were 14 for 18 at one point
Steve Bunin (1:40 PM)
Chris - the future looks bright in Ohio with the Thad Five coming in (though it's really just a Thad 2) ... but they're strong in '06... my problem is, they probably won't be any better than a 3 or 4 seed, and depending on the b.10 tourney, maybe only a 5-seed, which means a tough draw in the Big Dance.
chris (ohio)
steve, any news on the rehab of carson plamer?
chris (nj)
wasnt quite sure if my message went up (loyal jets fan location not telling you).anyways i think chad Pennington should stop being a T.O. and become a Tom Brady and take that pay cut. last year the money should have gone to John Abraham or Mckenzie.
Steve Bunin (1:41 PM)
Chris - nothing from my spies in Ohio. Just that it's gonna be a lonnnnnnnng haul back. Don't forget, many QBs have rushed back too soon and were never the same again. If I were the Bengals, I'd rest him for all of 2006, and bring him back in '07.
Dari Nowkhah (1:41 PM)
Yeah, but Chris... an 89% pay cut?? Come on... gotta hold the Jets a little responsible for making the deal!
Abdul (Michigan)
Michigan State will be National champs when its all said and done. Izzo's team always come to play in the Tourny.
Victor alexandria,la
will you update the bracketbuster games?
The Pulse (1:42 PM)
You bet, Victor. Which game you keeping an eye on?
Steve Bunin (1:43 PM)
Abdul - I covered MSU in Lansing in 2000 and 2001, from the NCAA Title run to the Charlie Bell follow-up year. They're loaded, but I get real scared when Izzo himself says this is is weakest rebounding team ever. Reading between the lines, I think he believes this is his SOFTEST team ever, and that ain't an Izzo trait.
Brad Roberts (Louisville,Ky)
My prediction is there will be at least one Big Ten team in the Final Four. (Either MSU or OSU)
Steve Bunin (1:43 PM)
Brad - no love for Illinois?
Sam (WI)
I also forgot to mention that Carmelo Anthony didn't get in the All-Star game because more people would want Yao Ming? That is bull crap!
Joe D (Queens, NY)
I agree with chris from nj but 8 mil is too much to ask for, he needs to put up some numbers and stay on the field to be denying any type of paycut(im a giants fan)
Steve Bunin (1:44 PM)
Sam -Melo did get robbed, but he's not a center. You can't blame the fans on that. They had to vote for somebody - who would YOU vote for in the West? Joel Przybilla? Robby Swift?
Ron (Kansas)
why don't i see my questions?
Steve Bunin (1:44 PM)
Ron, what are you talking about?
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
What will the seahawks do in the draft this year?
Dari Nowkhah (1:44 PM)
Here's what the Jets were doing, I bet... ask him to cut 8... he comes back with "I'll give 4 mil back"... and then... in about a second, the Jets say "Okay, thanks!" Just a little negotiating.
Brad Roberts (Louisville,Ky)
No way should Chad Pennington take that big of a paycut. No one would do that. I wouldn't would you? He's sacrificed his body for that team.
Steve Bunin (1:45 PM)
Dieter - my spies back home in Seattle tell me they want a DB or a DE. at the end of the 1st round, there should be some depth there, but they might trade down to mid-2nd round, pile up some day-2 picks to avoid a 1st-round contract.
Eli (Pittsburgh)
Steve and Dari, worst logos in the 4 major sports what are they in your opinions
Dari Nowkhah (1:45 PM)
Logos or team names?
Steve Bunin (1:46 PM)
Eli - I'll go with Oklahoma Sooners. Kidding, I think Dari's gonna take a swing at me, though.
Eli (Pittsburgh)
Logos
Steve Bunin (1:46 PM)
worst logos? Notre Dame. The leprechaun.
The Pulse (1:47 PM)
Just to update you, Bucknell is up one with about a minute left. And Dominique Wilkins is up next on the Pulse!
Dari Nowkhah (1:48 PM)
wow... lemme think... everybody can chime in on this.
PAUL (chicago)
tthe texan's logo sucks, it looks like a dead cow
The Pulse (1:48 PM)
So if you have thoughts on Bucknell or other March sleepers, fire them off!
Dari Nowkhah (1:49 PM)
What is the Tennessee Titans thing? That's what our researcher wants to know... he has a point... terrible logo.
Brad Roberts (Louisville,Ky)
Illinois is a sweet 16/elite eight at the most. Illinois will go as far as Dee Brown/James Augustine will take them. MSU/OSU are the deepest teams. MSU is always a tough out in March.
Dari Nowkhah (1:49 PM)
Or, what about the Celtics clover? Huh?? A leaf?
Dari Nowkhah (1:49 PM)
If you're gonna have a clover, shouldn't it be four... not 3?? At least make it lucky.
Eli (Pittsburgh)
Personally the Dallas Stars 3rd Jersery, the stars making up Taurus its just not the right logo
Eli (Pittsburgh)
well the main logo is a Comet and the other one is a sword
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
The Devil Rays have a pretty ugly logo.
PAUL (chicago)
a leave is better than a dead cow
Eli (Pittsburgh)
Nashville is the "Athens of the south" so thats why they go with the greek titans. Bud Adams actually wanted to keep it the oliers but the city didnt want it.
Dari Nowkhah (1:52 PM)
ONe more logo question... what is the Flyers logo about?
PAUL (chicago)
the nashville hockey logo looks like a dead cat skull
Dari Nowkhah (1:52 PM)
Who's the best dunker ever??
Erik (San Dimas, CA)
'Nique is the greatest dunker of all time!!!!!!!!
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
The Flyers logo is the letter "P", "flying" across the front of the jersey...
Mike (Marlton, NJ)
You revolutionized the 360 dunk.
Dari Nowkhah (1:53 PM)
Oh, it is a P isn't it? Never noticed that. Thanks for the info!
Rob (St. Louis)
You were the best dunker I've ever seen!
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
the "P" BTW, is for Philadelphia (must explain that for the Red Sox fans in the room)...
chris (ohio)
Anybody catch how mad Scott Van Pelt was last night that 'Nique only got 9% of the "best dunk" vote on sportscenter?
Ron (NY)
Michael Jordan!!! No Question
Peyton G. (Virginia)
Who are you Dari? What do you do?
Dari Nowkhah (1:54 PM)
Payton, you gotta be watching the show... I'm on the show! Thanks for watching!
chauncey (teaneck)
Vince Carter though his dunks have fell off recently.
Joe D (Queens, NY)
What was the best dunk ever in the history of the dunk contest?
Dari Nowkhah (1:54 PM)
Jordan - free throw line.
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
Best dunker i have to go with Vince Carter. If he had participated in more contests we probably would have seen more amazing dunks from him. The 360 windmill and the between the legs dunk. Vince it is.
Peyton G. (Virginia)
I am Dude Thnx
Brad Roberts (Louisville,Ky)
Nique or Jordan.............too close to call. Jordan from the free throw line is the most memorable to me
Peyton G. (Virginia)
Myy Bad Dari I feel lucky to talk to the person thats on my favorite show FOR REAL.
Joe D (Queens, NY)
i think the best thing vince did was the dunk during the olmpics when he jumped completely over the defender
alex (canada)
syracuse, orange?
The Pulse (1:56 PM)
Bucknell and N. Iowa going to OT, by the way.
ron (kansas)
worst logos? Washburn Ichabods
Dari Nowkhah (1:56 PM)
Allright Payton, you're back on my good side!
PAUL (chicago)
no Julius erving
Anthony (NY)
Hey Dari you hit the bullseye with that comment about the Pennington negotiations.
Bobby, Houston
I had a question for Vince...I was told he's not going to throw at the combine...but doesn't he think he should throw to prove he has a better arm than David Carr and that he needs to be the Texans number 1 pick
Greg Toledo, OH
Hey my top five for the NFL draft looks like This:1. My Texans take Reggie Bush2. Saints take Matt Leinart3. Titans take D'Brickashaw Ferguson4. Jets take Vince Young5. Packers Take AJ HAWK!!!Hey Steve tell me what you think about those and what you agree and disagree on. Please and thanks.
Erik (San Dimas, CA)
The Dunk Contest has lost it's flare over the years
Dari Nowkhah (1:57 PM)
Nate Robinson will be fun to watch tonight!
chris (ohio)
its a little dissapointing that lebron doesnt participate it the slam dunk contests, his athleticism and leaping ability should enable him to do some amazing things
The Pulse (1:59 PM)
Northern Iowa now up one with four minutes left in OT
Ben (Piacquadio)
I bet You Can Win The Dunk Contest Now
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
I think LeBron is just afraid he might embarass himself if he enters the Dunk Contest.
brian NY
Dominique was my favorite player growing up, I played high school and college basketball wearing the number 21. Nique is one of the great scorers of the 80's, he deserves to be in the hall, there are 25,000 reasons why!
The Pulse (2:00 PM)
Good interview there with 'Nique wraps up the first hour, but we've got plenty more to come!
Joe D (Queens, NY)
Best player in NBA?
The Pulse (2:02 PM)
That's a good question, Joe. One of the things we're talking about soon is Kobe Bryant's image.
The Pulse (2:02 PM)
Is he the NBA's best player? Do you like him? Do you dislike him? Sound off!
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
I don't like the way Kobe Bryant plays basketball. I know he has great talent but if he wants to be on a winning team he is going to have to learn to create shots for others. In my mind the great players can help his team in all ways possible.
The Pulse (2:03 PM)
That's what we're looking for. Nice stuff, Dieter! What do the rest of you think?
Peyton G. (Virginia)
NBA now or NBA History? Now Kobe or LeBronThen Larry Bird or Micheal Jordan, mabey Magic
Braxton Harmon (Albuquerque)
Lebron is much better than Kobe right now!
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I think players like Kobe and A.I. would be perfectly fine if they got big contracts and shot the "rock" 40 times a game, and let the wins and losses fall where they may...
chris (ohio)
3 important aspects to joes question, 1: best athlete - lebron2: best shot creator - kobe3: best anchor on a championship team - tim duncan
Steven (California)
Kobe is an awesome one on one player, but the best player in the NBA is Steve Nash hands down!! Only a great player can make a guy name Boris a great Fantasy pick up.
Victor alexandria,la
kobe bryant deserves to be at the top of his game.
The Pulse (2:09 PM)
Ok, so we all seem to agree he's at least among the best two or three, but do you like him?
Eli (Pittsburgh)
gotta go have a great day Dari and Steve great show keep it up. I love having the pulse back
Justin H. (MountainTop,Pa)
Lebron can dish out the ball and rebound each and every game while all Kobe cares about is himself.
The Pulse (2:09 PM)
So that's a don't like ...
Braxton Harmon (Albuquerque)
If lebron shot the ball all the time like kobe than he could get 100 but he is a TEAM player!
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
no (it's probably because the guy gives himself his own nickname..."mamba", how corny is that?)
Joe (Miami)
Kobe is too selfish
Steven (California)
Not a Laker fan, but he is a compelling player to watch. Liking Kobe is like rooting for the Yankees.
Max (Atlanta, GA)
I think Kobe really cares about winning and works hard to improve his team
Braxton Harmon (Albuquerque)
No! He is not trying to help evolve the game to the next level. Kobe plays for himself unlike Lebron who is trying to take the NBA to the next level. Lebron is a team player and cares about the state of the game.
Joe D (Queens, NY)
I love kobe, and the new commercial, what that commercial says is true, the only bad thiong about kobe is he helps himself more than his team and thats y i think there was a problem between him and shaq when they were playing together
chris (ohio)
its like his commercial says: love him or hate him, for the same reasons. However, one of those was "a champion" but he hasnt been to the playoffs since the big aristotle went to south beach
Peyton G. (Virginia)
Not really like we all know there;s no I in Team but again like we all know he got Shaq shipped to South Beach and in turn hurt the team significantly and also the team aspect of the game to him starts with K and ends with OBE !!!!
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
Kobe can shoot the ball. I have to say he is the best shooter but he is not a great leader. All the attention that has anything to do with his team goes to him.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
wait, can I be the Terminator? how about the punisher..
josh shreveport la
No sometimes you can just tell about someone and that is the way I feel about him. It is really sad that someone with as much talent as him could be celebrated as little as him. Just imagine if lebron scored 82.
tony, orlando
You guys don't know basketball. Look how many shots Kobe, Lebron and A.I. take to get there totals. The game is about so much more than that.
Steve Bunin (2:13 PM)
Greg - I think fans are bigger fans of AJ Hawk than scouts, though I'm one who agrees he could be a GREAT NFL LB. I think Tennessee WILL take Vince.
Peyton G. (Virginia)
Double OT B/W bucknell andN. Iowa
caleb st.louis missouri
i think kobe should win mvp of the all star game and the 2005-2006 nba season
Justin H. (MountainTop,Pa)
Kobe is a ball hog and will never learn no matter how many times someone tells him.
Mateo (Vegas)
I like how Kobe Bryant's desire to win, work ethic, etc. Admitting to his old lady on national TV he cheated after he got caught was about as heartfelt as Jimmy Swaggert telling his followers he was a "sinner". BAAAH!! BAAAAHHH!!!
Chris (Tampa, FL)
NCAA Champion is DUKE men and women. People say DUKE'S men is not deep enough on their bench. What you fail to realize is that DUKE starts two freshmen and two seniors come off the bench and produce and they can easily put in some freshmen who would get valuable minutes. Everyone now knows about J.J. Reddick is the collegebasketball player of the year and until someone shuts him down, DUKE may not lose another game.
Peyton G. (Virginia)
How many Pro Bwols will D'Brick Get Voted To?Do you think he could make the HOF?Will Mario Williams get drafted by Oakland or GB?
chauncey (teaneck)
Kobe Bryant is my favorite player people don't like him because they say he is too selfish but he has no talent around him they also say he is a rapist though he was never convicted.
chris (ohio)
wingo, kobe shot 45 times against toronto, had 81, and the lakers won
tony, orlando
best player is Wade. Who else can score 25-35 consistently while only taking 13-15 shots.
PAUL (chicago)
if lebron shot 82 he'd be doing more bubblegum commercials
Dave (Los Angeles)
Theres a reason every GM said they would want Kobe on their team over anyone else...
Unknown (Da Hood)
Kobe was said to be the next Jordan we finnaly got the next Jordan now in LeBron James.
chris (ohio)
tony, lebron. thats who
Unknown (Da Hood)
Nate Robison wins the dunk contest and Quentin Richardson in the 3 point. This may be coming from Reggie Miller or the drrunk at the bar.
levi williams bama
best player today is wade,,,and no close seconds
Joe D (Queens, NY)
Kobe and Iverson both have no talent around them, i dont blame them for being high scorers. If lebron scored 82 hed be in the HOF already
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
LeBron is close to becoming the best if not he already is the best. He is an all around player who plays well on all dimensions of the game.
tony, orlando
Am I banned from the show and don't know it? I made my case for Wade being the best player because he can score 25-35 easily and only take 13-15 shots. Kobe, Lebron, or A.I can't do that consistently.
Steve Bunin (2:19 PM)
Tony - we don't ban anybody from the show. Well, we ban many Yankee fans and Notre Dame fans. But other than that, nobody else. :)
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Individuals do not win NBA Championships (ask Jordan in the mid-80's); TEAMS win Championships...
Erik (San Dimas, CA)
Kobe is nothing but a pompus player who only cares about pattening his own stats and doesn't care about making his teamate better.
JP (Santa Fe, NM)
Lebron is talented but just ask him who he looks up too...yup, KOBE BRYANT!
Joe (Miami)
tony- exactly and he is a great team player
tony, orlando
How can you guys compare Lebron to Wade? In Wade's rookie season he took a talentless Miami team to game six of the semifinals. Lebron hasn't taken cleveland anywhere but back to the Lottery. and they virtually have same kind of supporting casts.
Marty Kane (White Haven,Pa)
Go Darko you rule you will definetly be an all star!!!!!
Steve Bunin (2:23 PM)
Pulsites - the dog and then Chris Paul are coming up --- send your questions for either one - nizzow.
"Toby" Harrisonburg ,Va
Woof woof woof woof ... bark?
Joe D (Queens, NY)
Meow
josh shreveport la
rufus what kind of dog are you and how much do you cost I gotta have one of your brothers
Peyton G. (VA)
Rufus Can I Get an Autograph???? Please???? UR the underated dog of the year !!!!!!!!!
The Pulse (2:26 PM)
All right, we'll get back to sports in a minute, but take a deep breath and enjoy this, It's short and it's kind of funny.
Joe D (Queens, NY)
I dont believe that a dog is on tv, he won a competition h did not compete in a sport. I think sports should be on the pulse when you are athletic
The Pulse (2:26 PM)
C'mon, Joe, it's like five minutes. Sense of humor!
ron (toledo)
Hey Rufus, since your retiring you gonna go join espn now as an analyst?
Braxton Harmon (Albuquerque)
Rufus will you teach teach al davis a few new tricks?
Mateo (Vegas)
Was Rufus forced into retirement, or did he go on his own terms?
The Pulse (2:27 PM)
He went out on top, on his own terms.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
head shape? that's a cool dog though...
Peyton G. (VA)
Rufus you have a HUGE EGG Shaped Head
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
Rufus, how long has it taken you to train for this event?
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
Wow, that lady is going for the Sally Jesse Raphael look, circa 1999. Bad choice.
josh shreveport la
do dogs go to the glue factory too of is that just retired horses?
JP (Santa Fe, NM)
do you guys really have to cover this stuff?
Erik (San Dimas, CA)
Rufus is the best name for a dog I have ever heard.
Steven J. (San Francisco, CA)
Rufus do you drink beer like Spud Mckenzie
Tyler (Baiting Hollow,NY)
What an ugly dog was he the best looking? If so what has this world come to?
Ryan (Boston,MA)
Bucknell,lost 65-61.
Joe D (Queens, NY)
I like Rufus, he watches espn
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Did Rufus ever go into the Westminster crowd because someone was heckling one of his family members?
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
I think Rufus should change his name to "Sam Cassell"
The Pulse (2:31 PM)
Ouch
The Pulse (2:31 PM)
Ok, ok, that was your five minutes to refresh. Now let's finish stong! Chris Paul is up next!
Tj (Houston)
Chris Paul is the next Isiah Thomas
The Pulse (2:32 PM)
We'll hope you mean strictly as a player. I'm not sure he could run a minor league into the ground just yet ...
josh shreveport la
seriously what kind of dog is that
Steve Bunin (2:32 PM)
Josh -- a rich one.
Chris (Tampa)
Chris Paul, you may be rookie of the year and really should be. will that make you more happier that winning a game or two in the playoffs or even a series
TJ (Houston)
Can anyone stop Chris Paul?
Braxton Harmon (Albuquerque)
Chris who was you idol in the nba as a kid?
The Pulse (2:33 PM)
Only the folks who didn't select him for the All-Star Game.
Steve Bunin (2:33 PM)
good question, Braxton - I'll ask him!
Joe D (Queens, NY)
Only Chris Paul can stop Chis Paul
Tim (San Diego)
Ray Allen should have been left of the all-star roster for Chris Paul
Adam (Teague)
Chris would you rather win the skills challenge or play in the all star game?
Tyler (Baiting Hollow,NY)
Chris Paul being compared To Isiah Thomas?Fair. But will he be a better gm??
Erik (San Dimas, CA)
I think a terrior
Joe (Miami)
Chris, How do you feel about Wake Forest's troubles this year?
ron (toledo)
Chris shouldnt of made the all star team, if LeBron didnt make it his rookie year no way that Chris should of made it
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
Last night was the first time I saw CP since he was at Wake. Totally impressed. The Frosh-Soph game is the best part of NBA weekend when the rooks keep it close and scare the sophs into playing hard.
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
Let me say, I had seen CP a couple times this year, but I was most impressed with his performance last night. If it wasn't for Baby AI's big night, he would've won MVP.
James (CR, Iowa)
Chris, congrats on the great year, any predictions on the dunk contest tonight
The Pulse (2:38 PM)
What about you guys, who do you think is going to win? Nate Robinson as the little man? Andre Iguodala? The defending champ Josh Smith?
Tom (New Jersey)
Chris Paul is the next Jason Kidd
Braxton Harmon (Albuquerque)
Hkim Warrick that's all I have to say you will be amazed!
The Pulse (2:39 PM)
Hard to be a sleeper in a four-man field, but he seems to be just that.
Tim (Hampstead, NH)
NPR will win. Think Spud Webb.
Peyton G. (VA)
Iguodala to some it up quickly it's has forte and he's a BEAST
Joe (Miami)
Andre he was tearin it up last night and from the sound of it he has even more to show
ron (toledo)
If Nate makes a dunk he will get sympathy votes
The Pulse (2:40 PM)
If? Did you see him at Washington? The guy routinely threw down in games ...
Tom (New Jersey)
Iguodala will win the slam dunk competiton because he wants to have a sweep this weekend
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
I personally have to go with Iguodala, he looked good last night. Have to go with the Philly boy.
Tyler (Baiting Hollow,NY)
As a 11 year old Knick fan i want Nate to win so I can have something to talk about the Knicks!
Mateo (Vegas)
National Public Radio is in the dunk contest?
The Pulse (2:41 PM)
Don't forget to help support them ...
JP (Santa Fe, NM)
Is Kobe in the dunk contest, if not...oh well.
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
I've seen Nate Robinson on breakaways and I don't think he can hang with the big boys.
Steven J. (San Francisco, CA)
I hope Nate Robinson wins, so that the Knicks can say they won something this year.
Joe D (Queens, NY)
CP loves Nate, i love CP
Peyton G. (VA)
i never knew that a dunk contest could only consist of FOUR CONTESTENTS
The Pulse (2:44 PM)
How about this ... who would you rather have: Chris Paul or Dwyane Wade?
The Pulse (2:44 PM)
If you were starting a franchise ...
Josh White (Lake City, Tennessee)
Dwyane Wade
phil (Monessen,Pa)
Chris paul is going to win multiple championships and go down in history with the great pg's in history
Tim (Hampstead, NH)
D-Wade. Chris is good, but not on Wade's level at ALL.
josh (shreveport)
gotta go with wade sorry man.
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
I'd probably go with Dwyane Wade too
Peyton G. (VA)
Wade He has Proved him self and paul needs another year for me to answer that
JP (Santa Fe, NM)
Who makes you guys ask these dumb questions?
The Pulse (2:46 PM)
Rufus
Steven J. (San Francisco, CA)
Chris Paul but not by much, just becacuse he has less to work with on the Hornets.
Joe D (Queens, NY)
OOOH he compares himself to isiah, just like we have
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
I have to say Dwayne Wade he can shoot the ball better and can still make great passes.
Ronny (NY)
Dwyane Wade just because we know what he will bring us and even though Chris paul is a great player, I want him to do better next year so for now, Dwyane Wade.
Mike (Austin, TX)
Dwayne Wade, no question. Anyone that can take a game over against the second best defense (you didn't think I put the Pistons ahead of the Spurs did you?) in the league gets my vote.
The Pulse (2:49 PM)
All right, any baseball fans out there? Pitchers and catchers have reported, and we've got Jim Thome up next to talking about moving to the defending champs ...
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
what's next?
The Pulse (2:49 PM)
Thome from Arizona!
Ron (NY)
Baseball is back and I m so excited!!!!!!
Dari Nowkhah (2:49 PM)
Okay guys... Jim Thome is next... what do you think he has left in the tank at 37 or so?
PAUL (chicago)
thome should go back to cleveland
Ron (NY)
Can we get some World Series picks on the Pulse???
Jon (Mobile)
Damn. Baseball chat. Here comes the Yankees and Red Sox chat 90% of the baseball world doesn't care about...
Peyton G. (VA)
Thome.....that's a up in the air question he's lost some but still is a great player
Kurt (Boston)
Thome has nothing left, he'll be a number six or seven hitter with disappointing stats this year.
The Pulse (2:52 PM)
But will he be better than Carl Everett? That's all they really need?
Josh (Osan AB, South Korea)
Oakland A's this is their year
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
Jim, as a Phillies fan myself I was sad to see you go, but I have to be honest and say that you definitely have more of a chance to get a title there. What do you think about the team around you now?
Brian Bannister (St Lucie, Florida)
Hey yall, this is from Spring Training! Im so excited. Do yall think i can make the Mets starting rotation?
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
I'm calling it, Thome hits 25+ HRs this year.
Adam (Texas)
Jim is going to give the Sox what Frank Thomas gave to them when healthy. He will be a solid 275 hitter with 25 Hrs. and 85 RBI's in a DH/1B role. He gives Konerko a rest at first more often and will fill in nicely behind Konerko and Uribe.
Erik (San Dimas, CA)
Question for Jim Thome: Jim, what city is better: Cleveland, Philadelphia, or Chicago?
The Pulse (2:54 PM)
Yeah, what does Thome have to do to play somewhere without frost on Opening Day?
Tim (Hampstead, NH)
Carl Everett brings a certain intimidation to the field. His teammates piss their pants every time they mess up and think "Oh no! Here comes Carl to beat me up!". It's motivation and without it, the White Sox will not win.
Tim (Hampstead, NH)
He needs to "retire" and then go play at home for the Diamondbacks like that weasal Clemens.
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
Prediction: Guillen, in a Playboy interview, rips into Thome for not being a real Venezuelen.
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
I think the Mariners have improved this year by filling the need at catcher with the siging of japanese catcher Kenji Johjima. They added Jarrod Washburn who had a 3.20 ERA last year and can fill the need in the rotation. With Felix Hernandez coming up, and if he has a good year I think the Mariners can take a wild card spot.
Mike (Austin)
Adam - agreed.
The Pulse (2:56 PM)
Is Thome a Hall of Famer?
The Pulse (2:56 PM)
Does he need to get to 500 home runs?
Josh White (Lake City, Tennessee)
yeah
PAUL (chicago)
no
Peyton G. (VA)
Mabey..............
The Pulse (2:58 PM)
Well, that about covers that ...
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
Thome is a definite Hall of Famer, but it would be nice to see him get to 500
Chris (Utah)
I think he might be able to make the hall of fame as long as he can keep clean of Steroids
Tim (Hampstead, NH)
No, he's no HOFer
Peyton G. (VA)
Most Likely he will need to get over the 500 plateu to get in early after he retires
Luigy (Hershey, PA)
Jim Thome is overrated
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
Honestly I don't think Thome is a Hall of Famer. He doesn't have a high enough batting average to be a HOFamer in my opinion.
Kurt (Boston)
Thome is not a HOF'er. He just never hit the plateau of Amazing. He was threatening, but too one dimensional
Ron (NY)
Yes, because if you are a pure power hitter like Thome, you have to put up at least 500 HRs.
The Pulse (2:59 PM)
Ok. we'll get more baseball on here as spring training moves along, we just wanted to wet your whistle.
The Pulse (3:00 PM)
We've got some updates coming up next, and we've still got D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Andy Katz and Ric Bucher for guests!
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
If Thome get into the Hall, I'm pretty sure the ghost of Tony Olivia will awaken, looking for revenge.
The Pulse (3:01 PM)
USA and Slovakia locked in a tight hockey game in Torino. Big game for both teams.
Tim (Hampstead, NH)
Okay let's talk basketball then
The Pulse (3:01 PM)
We'll have some scores for you this hour, don't worry. And plenty of tourney chatter with Andy Katz.
Tim (Hampstead, NH)
Maybe if hockey was interesting I would watch. For now I wait for figure skating.
Alex Bedford, IN
Any chance that the Hoosiers will hire Mark Few as the head basketball coach?
The Pulse (3:03 PM)
You can count on Andy Katz having a take on Mike Davis' departure and the future at IU.
Tyler (Baiting Hollow,NY)
USA needs to win this game! They are playing Slovakia!
The Pulse (3:04 PM)
Hey, Slovakia blitzed Russia earlier.
Nick (Fairview NJ)
Can we talk about some nba rumors?
The Pulse (3:04 PM)
You bet. Ric Bucher will be here at the end of the hour.
Tyler (Baiting Hollow,NY)
The Hoosiers should hire Former Knick coach Don Cheney!Just Kidding. What happened to him anyways?
Kurt (Boston MA)
Is that it? Are we done here?
The Pulse (3:09 PM)
Still more to come. D'Brickashaw Ferguson is next.
The Pulse (3:09 PM)
The poll question is which guy will make the most Pro Bowls: D'Brickashaw, Vince Young, Reggie Bush or Matt Leinart?
The Pulse (3:09 PM)
What do you all think? Is it possible Brick is actually the best player in this draft?
Anthony: Passaic, NJ
If Cowboys trade up and get OT Ferguson expect Bledsoe and Julius Jones to be more productive numbers in 2006
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
none. d'angelo williams.
josh (shreveport la)
ferguson it is the safe bet.
Nick (Fairview, NJ)
I think Ferguson has a great future ahead of him
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
I like pretty much everybody's situation except Bush's...Who really want to play for the Texans. I think Leinart take home a couple with Joe Horn
Kurt (Boston MA)
D'Brickashaw.
The Pulse (3:12 PM)
Brick is getting a lot of support, but does anyone think the Texans should just pick him if they didn't get any good trade offers?
Kurt (Boston MA)
How far up can an OL go and really be an asset? Was Robert Gallery worth the 2nd pick? Will D'Brickashaw be worth a 4th or 5th?
The Pulse (3:13 PM)
Yep, that's the big question. Do you have to take a skill position player (or a LB/DE) on defense with the top pick? Or can an OT be worth the price?
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
Nah, I think Brick goes to the NY Jets
MIke (Austin, TX)
Bush is the best player of the bunch but there are way too many good RBs out there. I'd go with one of the QBs (so few good ones, especially in the NFC), but I don't see either of these two guys being superstars in the NFL (yes, it says Austin next to my name). D'Brick by default.
Tim (Hampstead, NH)
D-brrrrrrrricccccckkkk
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
It is possible. If you look at the Seahawks drafting Walter Jones in the top 10, he is now the most dominant player in the NFL and allows the 'Hawks to run consistantly to the left side.
Jon (Mobile)
Ferguson is the best player in this draft. Period.
Peyton G. (VA)
yes he could be so vaulable to so many team (houston,Tennennessee,NYJ,GB,Oakland)
Josh (shreveport la)
I am not sold on vince Young He is a winner but a pro bowler I dont know.
Taylor D (Oakland Tennessee)
Jom Thome could be a HOFer but he needs to hit 500 longballs and a higher batting average and win a championship.
Dan Johns (South San Francsico)
He may not be a Hall of Famer, but he will definitely help the White Sox to another World Series Apperance against the Giants!
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
I think if D'Brickashaw turns out to be a Walter Jones then it is worth it. The Seahawks took him early in the draft when they got him and he is one of the most dominant players in the NFL.
Rema (Ohio)
I have something to say to Erik from San Dimas CA, Yeah you say that Kobe is only caring about himslef and only cares about pattening his own stats yeah well I only have one thing to say to you. IDIOT, are you serius if you think that then obviously you dont know anything about him, you probably just heard it from some other idiot cause you cant possibly think that I doubt you even watch basketball. Why dont you think before you talk. You and all the other people saying he is selfish and only cares about himself you guys need to shut your mouths, cause you dont know anything about him. Man, what idiots, keep playing awesome Kobe. Dont listen to anything these idiots are saying.
Jon (Mobile)
It's a really tough question. Reggie is really nice trade bait, but D'Brick would contribute more to the team by himself.
Josh (Osan AB, South Korea)
I'm tired of people saying they should pick the best player, how about picking the best player for the team. Texans have a good QB and RB already
Steve Bunin (3:15 PM)
Rema -- this is a chill chat room. Let's hold off on the personal attacks! You never even said why you LIKE Kobe.
Tyler (Baiting Hollow,NY)
D'Brickshaw Do you think you can handle the pressure of New York if you get drafted by the Jets?
The Pulse (3:15 PM)
But is there an element of marketing when you have that No. 1 pick? Is that fair to consider?
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
Hey Brick, what team will you most miss playing in college?
Peyton G. (VA)
D'Brick is worth # 1 bc it all matters what the team with pick needs
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
Hey Brick, what team will you most miss playing in college?
Taylor D (Oakland Tennessee)
D'angelo is the safest bet. Does the rushing title mean a thing.
MIke (Austin, TX)
Texans should trade the pick, no question.
Tim (Hampstead, NH)
Josh - I agree!
Nick (Fairview, NJ)
If he D'Brick stays healthy i think he will be one ever...he has the speed and strength to be a great one
Phil (Monessen,Pa)
D-Brick will be this drafts John Ogden
levi williams bama
OL are worth mid 1st rd pick
Todd (Orange, CA)
The Sox merely exchanged Frank Thomas for another overpaid has-been.
Alex, Boston, Ma
Is it good for basketball that a player charged with sexual assault (not convicted) have his jersey on the market...I don't think it is
Mike (Philly, PA)
This is for Jim Thome: Jim, when you came to Philly, along with the other big free agent signing, Billy Wagner, you brought life and excitement back to Phillies baseball. I'm sad you have to go, and wish you the best of luck in your new uniform. After spending a few seasons with Pat Burrell, do you think he'll develop into a consistent power hitter like yourself?
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
Oh no, Kobe and the Franchise on the same team, massive disaster
The Pulse (3:16 PM)
But as someone mentioned, look at how much Walter Jones stablized everything in Seattle, opening holes for Shaun Alexander and protecting Hasselbeck.
DA Givens (Columbus, OH)
How about Ohio State basketball? We're finally back to the glory levels of Jimmy Jackson's era...We'll make a run at the title this year, then definitely win it all next year with Oden!!! Go BUCKS..I LOVE NCAA
Peyton G. (VA)
he shoot someone ........oh wrong cheny !!!!!!
Nick (Fairview, NJ)
Poor lamar odom...everywhere hes gone they want to trade him
The Pulse (3:17 PM)
Isn't that worth the investment?
Kurt (Boston MA)
OL can be dominant and really help, but I wouldn't waste a top 5 pick on it. Look at the Patriots. They have a steady O-Line of young guys drafted in the later rounds.
levi bama
id rather watch old rod carew highlights than any of these powerhitters today
The Pulse (3:17 PM)
Good point, although they also got their QB that way!
Josh (shreveport la)
There has been plenty of years that my 'fins would have been alot better with a few big guys up front actually doing there job. I good o lineman is indespensable.
Tyler (Baiting Hollow,NY)
D'Brick Can you fix the Jets by keeping Chad Pennington healthy or whoever is back at QB?
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
The NFL does very little marketing of individual players, save $$ton Manning McNabb. You don't need big name stars to make $$.
Adam (Texas)
Vince is the best QB to go this high in the draft since Vick. Did anyone complain then? He is a winner and will turn a franchise around within two years of playing time. He is a better passer than Vick already. In the college skills challenge, he was the only one to even hit either target. He is the top pick in my mind
Jon (Mobile)
Kurt, look at your own advice. Tom Brady was a 6th Rounder.
Kurt (Boston MA)
The Texans need to trade with the Jets. If the Jets get the first pick, they can take Reggie Bush, or either of the QB's if Pennington doesn't wish to take his pay cut. The Texans can pick up any of the other RB's or D'Brickashaw if satisfied wth Dominack Davis
Josh (shreveport la)
You didnt hear? pennington is an "egg".
Reggie (Orlando)
Does Brick think Pennington is an *egg back there* too?
Kurt (Boston MA)
I know. It's a lot safer to take a top QB than bank on a 6th round QB.. but you can always find OL in the later rounds
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
Yeah, who do we think said Chad was an egg?
The Pulse (3:22 PM)
I know we've got some Jets fans in here, or at least people who hate the Jets. Should they stick with Chad Pennington? Or do they need to make a move for Leinart or Young?
Mike (Austin, TX)
Without Pennington, Mike Greenberg might cry though. Gotta keep him in there.
Kurt (Boston MA)
Eric Mangini will regret his decision to take the Jets job. The J-E-T-S have no future.
Josh (shreveport la)
Do the jets have the worst luck ever or is there some "curse" that we dont know about maybe "the curse of blair thomas"
Tim (New Hampshire)
They need Daunte.
Kurt (Boston MA)
The Jets should trade up to number one and take Leinart
The Pulse (3:24 PM)
How much do you think that would cost? Would their pick and John Abraham be too little? Too much? You know he's not happy about getting the franchise tag again.
Nick (Fairview NJ)
It doesnt matter who the jets get at qb they they still have to worry about 15 other positions too
Peyton G. (VA)
like i said the trade for the #1 pick and houston get D'Brick
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
I don't think they move for Leinart or Young...Although Young is what they need. They need a mobile QB, so if not Young, maybe see if the Saints cut Aaron Brooks
Mateo (Vegas)
Is Chad Pennington a better paid version of Rex Grossman?
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
I would love to see Abraham in an Eagles jersey
Josh (shreveport la)
My fins would gladly trade the deadly trio of gus "get on the bus" sage rosenfels, and "why am I in the nfl" cleo lemon
Jon (Mobile)
Sigh. O-Line needs more love. The term "Skill position" should be abolished.
Dave
NCAA hoops..time for John Cheney to retire..how about Mike Davis coaching the Owls?
Alex (Jacksonville)
Lets face it, Jets need a Qb, but when they get one, whos he throwin to? Coles was a disappointment. And Martin is to old to hand to.
Stephen PA
Vince, who was the prankster at Texas?
Kurt (Boston MA)
I'm not a big NFL analyst, so I can't tell you how much it would cost. But the Jets pick and Abraham should be enough to satisfy Houston. The Texans could get D'Brickashaw or another top RB with the 4, and Abraham as well. Sounds well worth it to me.
Tyler (Baiting Hollow,NY)
Chad Pennington is a whimp the Jets should trade abraham and their pick for the titans pick
The Pulse (3:27 PM)
All right, let's shift gears to hoops for the final 30 minutes this week. Starting with college, as Andy Katz is up next ...
The Pulse (3:27 PM)
What interests you all the most right now in college hoops? What's the story you'd like to hear more about?
Alex (Jacksonville)
Nothin to talk about, Dukes got it on lockdown
The Pulse (3:28 PM)
No faith in UConn or the other Big East powers?
Tim (New Hampshire)
That poll to the right disgusts me.
The Pulse (3:29 PM)
Disgusts?
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
I want to hear what Andy Katz has to say about my beloved UCONN losing to Nova.
Jon (Mobile)
1 word: Villanova.
Gordon Lee (Milwaukee)
When UConn gets past Marquette, we'll talk.
Kurt (Boston MA)
College hoops is to populated. I can't follow every team in every division. All I can say is go BC, they really impressed me after finishing within 2 of Duke. They could have won if the refs weren't ...
Alex (Jacksonville)
Uconn is nice, but Duke has to many powers. Even if you could maintain Redick, you cant stop Willaims and the freshman wonders
Kurt (Boston MA)
If the refs weren't "drunk"
Tyler (Baiting Hollow,NY)
How come nobody is talking about the downfall of Kentucky?
The Pulse (3:31 PM)
I have a hunch Andy will hit on that topic.
The Pulse (3:31 PM)
Right now, Florida and Arkansas are locked in a tight SEC game
The Pulse (3:32 PM)
Missouri State up eight on UW-Milwaukee in a BracketBuster
The Pulse (3:32 PM)
And Colorado about to take a bad loss against Kansas State.
Alex (Jacksonville)
Florida is overated
Gordon Lee (Milwaukee)
Speaking of downfalls, the Indiana basketball program needs to get over Bobby Knight. Does a coach have to choke-a-kid to get respect?
Kurt (Boston MA)
Lets get some Final 4 picks
The Pulse (3:35 PM)
How about your Final Four picks?
Nick (Fairview NJ)
i dont even think Florida's the best team in the SEC i like Tennessee
Kurt (Boston MA)
I don't follow NCAA Basketball so this is a shot in the dark with me.I'll put Duke in as a shoe-in, Villanova, UCONN maybe
Peyton G. (VA)
Nova,Uconn,Bucknell,W.VA
The Pulse (3:37 PM)
The Bison? Wow
shelby (texas)
duke unc texas and maryland are final 4 picks
The Pulse (3:37 PM)
Maryland may have trouble making the field as it stands now, 5-6 in the ACC.
The Pulse (3:37 PM)
But hey, we like the sleeper picks.
Alex (Jacksonville)
Duke, Gonzaga, Texas, and either Uconn/NC State
Jarrod (Sarasota)
My Picks, Duke, Nova, Uconn, a darkhorse that no thought about
The Pulse (3:38 PM)
C'mon, you have to at least name the darkhorse!
Kurt (Boston MA)
I'll put my faith in BC, as unwise at may be. They won't make it, but I'm not betting any moneyy
Ryan (Boston,MA)
None of the ESPN Men hoops crew give BC any respect, expect for saying overrated.
The Pulse (3:38 PM)
Yes, ESPN is known for being very anti-Boston ...
Jon (Mobile)
Auburn, South Florida, Bucknell, Northwestern
The Pulse (3:39 PM)
A sleeper, Jon, we like a sleeper.
Nick (Fairview NJ)
Watch out for kansas they are ending this season strong
Kurt (Boston MA)
Thats because BC can't beat the big teams. If they had beaten Duke, we'd hear about them
Aaron (Akron)
Osu,Uconn,Tenn,Nova
Kurt (Boston MA)
so my final Final Four: Duke, Villanova, UCONN, and Boston College.
The Pulse (3:41 PM)
Here's Andy's take on IU ...
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
Gonzaga is overrated, as is Adam Morrison!
Peyton G. (VA)
watch out for nick fazekas and neveada
Kurt (Boston MA)
BC should call Matthias Kiwanuka off the gridiron and put him at Power Forward
The Pulse (3:43 PM)
All right, we've got NBA coming up with Ric Bucher as soon as Andy wraps up here with some emails.
The Pulse (3:44 PM)
We've also got our eye on the Busch race at Daytona, as Dale Earnhardt Jr. is in contention to win late.
Alex (Jacksonville)
How long til the NBA talks?
The Pulse (3:44 PM)
Right now!
The Pulse (3:45 PM)
The hot rumor is Steve Francis to the Lakers, with Lamar Odom involved. Good idea for either team?
The Pulse (3:45 PM)
Which would be a tougher chemistry mix: Kobe and Francis or Stephon Marbury and Francis?
Alex (Jacksonville)
Where is Steve Francis going to end up?
sean Beantown
dominque amazing high flyer. You were always wowing the crowd. Jim Thome on the other hand one of the most over rated power hitters in baseball. Go whitesox would of been better off with thomas and addressing other positions but im not management
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
Finally some NBA talk about how the Lakers are trying to get Steve Francis
PAUL (chicago)
no steve francis sucks, he's done
Kurt (Boston MA)
Bad for the Lakers. The last thing they need is Steve Francis on the same team with KB
Aaron (Akron)
Yeah that would be great for the Laker 2 players with 50 points and the ystill lose.
Nick ((Fairview, NJ))
Kobe and Francis would be a nightmare
Peyton G. (VA)
NO kobe and franchise are both possesion players
Chris (Coatesville, PA)
Tougher mix, Kobe and Francis
Nick ((Fairview, NJ))
Steve Francis should go to Denver because they need a scoring point guard
Jarrod (Sarasota)
Bad for the lakers, if kobe couldn't get along with shaq how is he gonna get along with francis
The Pulse (3:48 PM)
Ric is going to have the inside scoop on Francis -- and it's not the Lakers, apparently.
Alex (Jacksonville)
I've heard Steve goin to Minnesota. How would that shape out? Same thing with the Sonics
Kurt (Boston MA)
When are the Celtics goign to make a positive move. All their moves have been for the sake of "shaking it up" instead of getting better. I wouldn't mind bringing Franchise to Boston, as long as it didn't cost too much, but I doubt it will happen. Danny Ainge is a ----head.
The Pulse (3:50 PM)
Wow, Ric thinks the Skills Challenge is going to become the top event at AS Weekend.
The Pulse (3:51 PM)
Our SportsNation poll says you all think the dunk contest is still the most entertaining event.
Gordon Lee (Milwaukee)
Look at what Iguodala did in the Rookie/Sophmore game last night. This ego thing with players like Iverson and Bryant has to stop. These teams would be so much better if they'd share the rock with other players who can score as well.
sean, Beantown
nba sucks now a days learn how to play fundamentaly this aint a dunk contest
Peyton G. (VA)
Francis to DEnver ??????
Kurt (Boston MA)
The three team deal with Denver and the Knicks for Francis isn't going to happen.
Peyton G. (VA)
Bucher just siad it most likely would
Nick (Fairview, NJ)
Darko Milicic will never be a big impact in the nba
The Pulse (3:54 PM)
All right, folks, great stuff again this week. You offered up great material for some A-List guests.
The Pulse (3:54 PM)
We'll do it all again bext week!
