The Pulse (10:20 AM)
Hey, it's Saturday morning and we've got some late additions to the guest list! Eric Dickerson, Jason Taylor and Jamal Lewis will all be here to talk football, so send your questions for them!
The Pulse (11:24 AM)
Anyone have a question for Jason Taylor? Insde scoop on Ricky Williams? Nick Saban's first year? Like in South Beach? He'll be on in the first hour of the show, so now is the time to ask!
The Pulse (12:42 PM)
All right, we're mere minutes from the start of the show! UNC-Duke is obviously one of the big topics of the day, but we're talking best college rivalries in general ...
The Pulse (12:42 PM)
So what do you all think? What's your favorite rivalry, and why?
Rob - FT Benning, Georgia
Best Rivalry in sports: Army-Navy - it is not just a Football rivalry they play it in every sport at the intercollegiate and even the club level sports like Rugby. Unmatched by anything is sports.
Steve (Dallas)
Besides UNC-Duke, OU-UT in football. OU will win in October! Mark my words!
mike (WI)
how about fsu/fla
The Pulse (12:47 PM)
Come on now, Mike. You know the drill on this show! You've got to back up your claims! Tell us why ...
Andrew (Spokane,WA)
Duke-NC Because every year both teams compete for a championchip
Sam (Indianapolis)
Best Rivalry in Sports- Notre Dame-USC. They have provided many classic games and it is almost always a game that affects the national championship.
Joey (Blairstown, New Jersey)
The best rivalry in sports is Red Sox-Yankees, all the hype, it's classic theatre in my opinion.
Steve (Dallas)
Yankees-Sox. The history goes back so far. And the Red Sox have had the upper hand in the last year.
Joey (Blairstown, New Jersey)
the FSU/FLA rivalry is overrated in my opinion, no more Steve Spurrier vs Bobby Bowden battles, that takes the excitement away.
Sam (Indianapolis)
Pistons-Pacers. The most hate between fans in any pro league today.
The Pulse (12:52 PM)
That's a good point. There seems to be a difference between classic rivalries and rivalries of the moment. Like Cubs-Cardinals vs. Colts-Pats.
Bryan (Lubbock,TX)
Duke-UNC wins it easily. Fans that dont even attend the universitys grow up hating the other. Not a year goes by i dont watch the games and make bets w/ my brother who is a duke fan and they always are at the top of the class in the ACC
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Red Sox-Yanks have only heated up in the past 5 years.....
The Pulse (12:55 PM)
But it only had a short lull, right? It was big in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, etc.
Chris (Virginia Beach)
Best Rivalry in sports??? Are you kidding me that Ohio State/Michigan hasn't been mentioned?? Always something on the line in that big game and the 2 teams (and both teams fans) hate each other!
Matt NYC, NY
Besides last year Duke has bsically beaten UNC every year
Sam (Indianapolis)
Fans will always hate each other even if they dont attend the university, Bryan. I dont have to go to Notre Dame to hate USC.
Johnstone (Bucktown)
OU-UT.... Just the thought of burnt orange makes me ill.....
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
Lets put it this way. The Only rivalry that now doesn't have a sponsor is "The Game" Ohio State vs Michigan. They could both be bottom of the big ten...everyone watches.
Chris (Va Beach)
I have a hard time saying that the best rivalry lies in a sport where they can't even hit each other! (So basketball is definitely out)
Dave (DC)
Whats up with the Yankees/Sox answers ... last time i checked they werent college programs ... USC/Notre Dame, the best trait of a rivalry is that each game is a classic regardless of the talent level
The Pulse (12:59 PM)
True, we went off on a little tangent. But the focus is college rivalries, you're right.
The Pulse (12:59 PM)
All right. we're seconds away from the start of the show!
The Pulse (12:59 PM)
We'll lead off on ESPNEWS with some college hoops updates as Championship Week heats up.
Victor alexandria,
we can have an in game extra can we?
The Pulse (1:02 PM)
We'll be checking in on big games, don't worry. And if any of you want to sound off on games you're watching (while Pulse-ing, of course), fire away all day.
Kyle (Cumberland, RI)
Go Gonzaga!!!! They are going to the final four at least if not winning the whole thing.
The Pulse (1:03 PM)
Ok, the lineup for this first hour is loaded. We'll have Jamal Lewis, Jason Taylor, Eric Dickerson and possibly Michael Irvin.
The Pulse (1:04 PM)
Not to mention John Clayton talking about the current labor mess.
The Pulse (1:04 PM)
What do you all think? Anyone out there following these labor negotiations? Anyone think a deal is going to get done soon?
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
Blame Paul, he's in charge of all of it. And a lot of teams are making moves already.
Andrew (Spokane,WA)
No a deal is not gonna happen for quite a long time
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
Gene Upshaw and the players union is the most to blame by far. No one wants to her about players making that much money arguing. I do think a deal is going to get done. Big Players could be cut, and I think they'll back off their stance a bit. They dont want to lose money.
Bryan (Lubbock,TX)
i hope so for the NFLs sake bcuz i dont want it to end up pullin a NHL
Bryan (Lubbock,TX)
I blame Upshaw and the players union bcuz they want to much from the owners
The Pulse (1:07 PM)
But it's not like the owners aren't living the good life thanks to public financing of stadiums.
Johnstone (Bucktown)
A deal can definitely get done. Primarily because the NFL players union is not very strong....
The Pulse (1:07 PM)
Although this power play from Upshaw has the potential to change that, right?
Bob (Sparta,NC)
Gene Upshaw needs to wise up before he ruins the league. If I went to my employer and demanded to be paid 60% of the company's revenue, guess where I'd be? Unemployed.......
Adam (Wisconsin)
This collective bargaining agreement will make the draft more important. Expect teams to rely on drafting young players to replace veterans.
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
I just hope they resolve differences soon so we can kick off free agency...
Sam (Indianapolis)
The players, according to Birk, dont have any control and Upshaw has a dictatorship. Blame Upshaw and Paul.
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
Upshaw is to blame. Players want to win championships, but they want the most money for them selves, and their team suffers because there is no money for other players
Bryan (Lubbock,TX)
That is true also but what is wrong w/ 57% i mean they are already makin more then half
Andrew (Spokane,WA)
I Blame Upshaw and the union they are not dealing with this very well
Chris (Va Beach)
Bring on the replacements/scabs if the players union wants to play hardball
The Pulse (1:10 PM)
Yikes, does anyone remember the 1987 scab games? The Colts pulled some guy out of a lumber yard to run the wishbone.
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
Think about all the college players who will lose alot of money, kids who left early... who could suffer GREATLY because of no CBA. Think about how the draft will cease to exist, because of no CBA
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
Gene Upshaw is defending his players Paul Tagilabue is the one making all the talk over the owners.
Adam (Wisconsin)
Believe me, this isn't Upshaw's fault. The owners are greedy and they want even more money.
The Pulse (1:11 PM)
In the end, that may be the case for both sides.
Sam (Indianapolis)
I am ready for this to be over. I really hope this does not interrupt the WBC and the NCAA Tourney.
The Pulse (1:12 PM)
And that's a good place to put the final word for that topic. We're paying attention because we have to!
Johnstone (Bucktown)
In response to 1987, I guess Mo Clarett actually still has a chance to play in the league afterall...
The Pulse (1:12 PM)
Ha, ok, that will be the final word.
The Pulse (1:12 PM)
Ok. Jamal Lewis is up next!
The Pulse (1:13 PM)
What do you think? Does Lewis still have something left after a down year?
The Pulse (1:13 PM)
Where do you think he should head in free agency?
Bryan (Lubbock,TX)
Jamal Lewis will return to form this year whether its w/ Baltimore or another franchise. I would love to see him come and play for my Atlanta Falcons and bring a back that better fits the bill after Dunn decided to call it quits
Victor (Chicago)
He should sign with a playoff team, maybe try the Dolphins, they need him since Williams could be gone for awhile.
Matt (AZ)
He has something left...behind a great line of course
Erick (West Palm Beach, FL)
Jamal is done.
The Pulse (1:15 PM)
You do have to worry a little; power backs can go downhile in a hurry.
Bob (Sparta,NC)
Lewis is still a very good back. His down year should be blamed on an old, declining offensive line.
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Last year's offseason in the big house killed him. A full offseason of workouts and healthy living will put him back amongst the league's elite.
Josh (New York)
He should go with the Ravens or Jets...The Jets need a steady, built RB, Cedric Houston wont get the job done after Curtis Martins retirement
josh (shreveport)
jamal lewis will be just fine. What is he like 26 how can he be over? I think the cardinals would be a good fit.
Sam (Cleveland)
It'll be interesting to see if he does...not exactly a great YPC last year. Maybe he'll become the next Jerome Bettis
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
Why is he in free-agency?? He is a great player stupid move by the no-flying Ravens.
Sam (Indianapolis)
Lewis should play for the 49ers. He would get playing time and could take weight off Smith's shoulders.
The Pulse (1:19 PM)
Is he a big step behind Shaun Alexander and Edgerrin James on the open market?
Bryan (Lubbock,TX)
Jamal is still a great back and any team that gets his services will get a great steal from the Ravens
chauncey (teaneck)
I think he is done but some team would take a chance on him because of one great year.
Sam (Cleveland)
Can you blame the offensive line for a 8-for-17 against Houston?
Erick (West Palm Beach, FL)
Jamal is 3 steps behind Alexander and Edge
BenP (el paso tx)
Jamal Lewis would be great if he would be better off with another team.
Sam (Cleveland)
I'd say he is...He's durability is in question.
Kent (Mississippi)
yeah a huge step.......
Andrew (Spokane,wa)
OOOO YES HE IS WAY BEHIND
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
Jamal probaly knows what team he's going to be on, the DOLPHINS!! NO!! How about the Saints, who need one good player to make them happy. That's only if they don't get a RB in the 1rst round. Good chance he's going to New Orleans.
Adam (Wisconsin)
He is just a cheaper alternative to a back like Alexander or James in the free agent market.
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Sounds like Jamal is a goner...
liz
Jamal:Thank you for what you did for the ravens, you carried our offense for so long. Thank you !!!
Sean (Tampa)
I thinke hes going to go to the Vikings. He would fit in nicely with that team.
The Pulse (1:21 PM)
Ok. that was pretty unanimous. He definitely seems to slide in the middle tier of available backs.
Matt (AZ)
He's a HUGE step behind Alexander and James...people need to realize that that 2,000 yard season was a while ago...he's not the player he was. Edge and the MVP are in their primes.
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
Jamal Lewis is a HUGE step behind Shaun Alexander. You have to produce, and Jamals legal issues, and lack of production, makes him a big gamble.
Kyle (Cumberland, RI)
He ruined his own career thanks to those drug charges. He was on cloud 9 before that.
Sean (Baltimore)
Jamal is better than SA and Edge, the Colts and Seahawks just have the better Oline
victor alexandria,la
he should not sign with another teamthat's wrong.
Bryan (Lubbock,TX)
i dont think that u can blame Billick for his down year.
The Pulse (1:22 PM)
Wow, it's always good to hear a different opinion
Andrew (Baltimore MD)
Jamal still has good years left. Last season was a combination of injury recooperation, not the ideal offseason and poor O line play.Jamal with a good to great line would be a sight to see!
Erick (West Palm Beach, FL)
Shaun from Baltimore is a homer
Bryan (Lubbock,TX)
victor needs 2 explain his logic on how signing w/ another team is wrong
The Pulse (1:25 PM)
Nice work, you guys are on fire today.
The Pulse (1:25 PM)
All right, looks like Jason Taylor is up very soon, but we're going to update some hops first.
The Pulse (1:26 PM)
Cincy is working on an upset against West Va. ... 56-49 in the second half.
The Pulse (1:26 PM)
Could be a huge win for the Bearcats and a tough break for bubble teams like Creighton.
The Pulse (1:26 PM)
We'll have highlights of Cincy-WVU right after the break on ESPNEWS.
The Pulse (1:27 PM)
And Michigan State up 44-43 on Illinois.
Kent (Mississippi)
i dont see that as an upset.... WVU is overrated
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
It wouldn't be that much of an upset for Cinci, on home court, on senior day.
The Pulse (1:27 PM)
Yeah, but the Pittsnogles are still ranked.
Adam (Wisconsin)
West Virginia won't do anything in the tournament. Even though they're in the Big East, they don't have the talent to go anywhere.
Kyle (Cumberland, RI)
Pittsnogle will bring them back with his outside shooting!
Bryan (Lubbock,TX)
WV wins and dies by the 3 if u can shut down the perimeter game u win its plain and simple
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Gansey's recent struggles have directly affected the 'Neers winning.
Vinod (Blackfoot,ID)
West Virginia has the potential to be a dangerous tourney team because of their great perimeter play.
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
Bilas already called the Cinci upset.
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
WVU is one of those teams that can beat anyone and also lose to anyone any given night.
Adam (Wisconsin)
Pittsnogle's good, but take a look at all the great teams. They have more than one good player!
george (NYC, New York)
west virginia needs a life. they can't play and everbody knows it
The Pulse (1:31 PM)
Anyone watching the MSU-Illinois game? Any thoughts on the Spartans playing well on senor day? Proof they could be dangerous in the tourney?
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
WVU making a run....within 6.
Greg(Titletown)
let's all settle down there on the WVU hatewagon, they are tourney tested and are losing a game that has no bearing on them right now, who cares.
Johnstone (Bucktown, Chicago)
The MSU-Illini game is fantastic.... Then again, any game that has Bill Raftery is genius.
Matt (AZ)
MSU was my preseason national title pick...now...they could be bound to be upset by a mid-major in the first round
george (NYC, New York)
Spartans are going to be bloody and deadly. they will probably win the tourney. I said so the whole time.
Dan (DeKalb)
MSU has underperformed all year, this was there big chance to make a real run at the big ten title and they blew it.
Johnstone (Bucktown, Chicago)
Izzos teams always seem to peak at the right time, dont discount the Spartans just yet. Just remember last year......
The Pulse (1:39 PM)
All right, we've still got Jason Taylor coming on to talk, but it looks like we're going to check in with a live look at that Cincy-WVU game!
The Pulse (1:39 PM)
So for all of you WVU doubters, here's a live look ...
mike ((wisconsin))
WVU isn't going anywhere
Adam (Wisconsin)
Gansy just hit a huge 3 to put WVU back in it. This might be a game after all.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Normally I hate Cincy, but I really believe I hate Pittsnogle more....
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Eric Hicks has been the difference in this one. WVU has no one to match his physical presence.
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
Hicks on senior day will not be denied. Cinci just seems to not be phased by the ebb and flow of it.
The Pulse (1:42 PM)
Wow, this is turning into a real shootout, Cincy up 75-73
The Pulse (1:42 PM)
2:16 left
Greg(Titletown)
The hater ade in this room has gone bad, what could you possibly hate about WVU, other then the fact that they did better then your team in last years tourney??
Joe (Jersey)
WATCH OUT CINCI!!!!! HERE COMES PITTSNOGLE AND WVU!!!!!!
Matt (AZ)
WVU is a decent team...they went far last year because nobody saw it coming...this year...people see the 'Neers from a mile away...I'd be surprised if they got to the sweet 16
The Pulse (1:43 PM)
And there's Adam from Wisconsin, getting his analysis on ESPNEWS!
The Pulse (1:43 PM)
And now we're sliding over to B.C. and Va. Tech for a live look
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
BC is lucky they're in the ACC this year. They would be getting exposed in the superior Big East.
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
VT's sports teams have the worst attitude, from Vick's Riverdance on Dumerville, to their new QB getting suspended..
The Pulse (1:45 PM)
All right, that was a real quick look., but we just hopped over to the Big South, with a tourney bid on the line.
irvin (Puerto Rico)
the coastal winthrop game is also getting interesting on espn2
The Pulse (1:46 PM)
And Wingo from NJ getting his Big South commentary on air!
Sam (Indianapolis)
Winthrop is the powerhouse in the Big South. Today they will be exposed.
Adam (Wisconsin)
Why does this Big South game even matter? The winner still won't go anywhere.
The Pulse (1:47 PM)
Whew, ok, that was a blitz through the college hoops scene. We've got plenty of hoops and more football coming up in the second hour.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Someone get me a champagne!
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Can Winthrop still get an at large? All signs point to "no".
The Pulse (1:48 PM)
Cincy still up two with the ball and 30 seconds!
The Pulse (1:49 PM)
We'll head back for the final 25 seconds in Cincy, as WVU will have to foul and hope for some misses.
Sam (Indianapolis)
I am sick of this football. It is taking away from the conference tournaments.
The Pulse (1:50 PM)
We've got live hoops right now!
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
Uh-oh. You should put on the Cincy game, I think I just saw Bob Huggins in the stands lighting a smoke and dumping an airplane bottle of Johnny Walker Black into his Coke..
The Pulse (1:50 PM)
Now that's just mean.
irvin (Puerto Rico)
its over cincy is a great free throw shooting team
Dari Nowkhah (1:51 PM)
Hey... guys and gals... how you likin' these InGame Extras?? Good stuff, eh??
Sam (Indianapolis)
Cincinati fires its idiot coach, goes to the Big East and wins. I never would have thought that CIncinati would be the best addition.
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Fantastic Dari! Keep up the good work...
george (NYC, New York)
sorta ya. its cool.
Kyle (Cumberland, RI)
Exceptional coverage!!!
Bryan (Lubbock, TX)
I like it but im like everyone else i dont really care for Winthrop
Andrew (Spokane, WA)
I love it!
bracketgirl (nc)
guarentted 3 pointer by wvu
Barry (Cincinnati)
they are awesome
Bob (Sparta,NC)
The InGame Extras are great! Cincy not out of the woods yet, not the way WVU shoots from the perimeter........
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
WVU Pittsnogled themselves right out of this one.....
Cassius, Flushing
the in-games are top notch dari
The Pulse (1:55 PM)
We're going live to Cincy for the final 3 seconds, as WVU looks to tie with the ball!
michael ((Wisconsin))
WVU wont winthis game
Dari Nowkhah (1:56 PM)
Skeeter... not quite yet he hasn't!
michael ((Wisconsin))
in games rock
Cassius (Flushing, NY)
about to fall of the edge of my seat
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
I can't see WVU winning this game.
Greg(Titletown)
OMG, WVU lost to CInci with Cinci's tourney hopes on the line and WVU with little to play for, wow, they are terrible, time to take down last years banners 'Neers fans:)
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
I think you set a screen for a Gansey 3 here...
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
WVU must shoot.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
deny the perimeter please, make Pittsnogle U throw up a brick...
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
good foul...
john trumann
do you think uab is in the ncaa tournament after beating 3rd ranked memphis.
Dari Nowkhah (1:58 PM)
Absolutely, John... UAB is in!
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
NO!! Don't turn it off.
Dari Nowkhah (1:58 PM)
NOW he Pittsnogled them!!
The Pulse (1:58 PM)
Sorry, we had to check in at the Big South title game, but we're headed back!
Johnstone (Bucktown, Chicago)
Wow.... That was REALLY weird.
Dari Nowkhah (1:59 PM)
We're going back to Coastal/Winthrop for the end, no worries peeps!!
Cassius (Flushing, NY)
YEAH UAB!
BenP (El Paso,TX)
no not good stuff great stuff!
Adam (Wisconsin)
For the last time I don't care about the Big South game!!
Cassius (Flushing, NY)
oh im worried...dont want to be deprived of coastal/winthrop
Dari Nowkhah (2:00 PM)
Adam... THIS is what makes March Madness March Madness! Gotta get into it man!
Sam (Indianapolis)
These games are ones where players give 1000% to get in the tourney.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I'm rooting for Winthrop because their mascot is an E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles....
The Pulse (2:01 PM)
Adam and Cassius, you guys are March Madness grinches.
BenP (El Paso,TX)
what an ending for withrop
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I heard Camden County College is playing top-rated Gloucester County College on ESPN2...
Sean (Fort Mill)
Winthrop is underrated, they almost upset Gonzaga last year in the tourney, and stuck with Memphis this year
The Pulse (2:01 PM)
You're on the grinch list now, too, Wingo.
Vinod (Blackfoot,ID)
Congrats Winthrop! You get be be destroyed by a number one seed!
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Dear Winthrop, welcome to the Big Dance. Sincerely, "the Committee"
The Pulse (2:02 PM)
Ok, everyone take a deep breath as we head to break.
The Pulse (2:03 PM)
We'll talk with folks from both games (Cincy and Big South title game) coming back.
Sam (Indianapolis)
Two teams are officially in the NCAA Penn and Winthrop.
The Pulse (2:03 PM)
Any of you have final thoughts on either the Bearcats or Winthrop?
Adam (Wisconsin)
Hey don't call me a grinch I care about most of the stuff.
Cassius (Flushing, NY)
take a breath...im hyperventalating over here
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I'm playing...man, what a bunch of grouches live in Bristol!
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
I'll admit, that, its the first time I've ever laid my eyes on Shannaclier (Chanaclear?) basketball..
Sam (Indianapolis)
Please give WInthrop their due. They won their tourney and should be congratulated.
The Pulse (2:04 PM)
Get us above freezing and we'll feel better, Wingo!
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Cincy is a team no one will want to face in the tourney. They could challenge a 1 seed as an 8/9 team.
Johnstone (Bucktown, Chicago)
Kennedy needs a contract
Barry (Cincinnati)
yea, the BEARCATS are amazing
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Winthrop will enjoy the first 5 mins of the tourney....
michael ((Wisconsin))
big win for the cats
Adam (Wisconsin)
This Bearcats win might have bought them a higher seed in the tournament.
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
Cinci showed up big today, and I think put fear into teams that didn't see them. WV matched up well against duke, Cinci with a new coach could be a sleeper of a team.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
final thoughts? yeah, neither team is winning anything this year...
Barry (Cincinnati)
Now if the cats can win one in the big east tourny they could get a pretty decent seed
michael ((Wisconsin))
WVU is.......... OVERRATRD
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Is there anything better than Saturdays with the Pulse? I think not...
Johnstone (Bucktown, Chicago)
The Illini are about to leave East Lansing with a W. Dee Brown went off in the 2nd half.
Victor alexandria,la.
cincy will have their say in the ncaa tournament.
michael ((Wisconsin))
cats could get get a 5 or 6 seed
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Gatorade and the Pulse are a perfect cure to a Saturday morning hangover...
The Pulse (2:08 PM)
We're there for you, Skeeter.
Sam (Indianapolis)
This chat room thing is why I look forward to Saturdays.
The Pulse (2:09 PM)
Wow, it's a veritable lovefest in here. It's your show, so it's good to hear you enjoy it.
Vinod (Blackfoot,ID)
um...... Jason Taylor??
The Pulse (2:10 PM)
We're trying to track him down. He's at Michael Irvin's birthday bash in Florida, and they had a golf tournament this morning.
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
WVU just changed overrated to underrated. They shouldn't be overrated!!! THey're great! So now they're underrated. C'mon and he almost made a buzzer beater. And the home pressure for UC would've went down and had they would've won.
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
(Skeeter is refraining from making comments about Michael Irvin's birthday bash...)
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I have tattoo suggestion for Pittsnogle..."I must be aware of all game situations and respond accordingly"
The Pulse (2:12 PM)
Ok, it sounds like Jason Taylor may indeed be next!
The Pulse (2:13 PM)
(By the way, Joe Lunardi has Cincinnati as a No. 12, playing Kansas in his most recent bracket. This win might move them up a slot or two).
Johnstone (Bucktown, Chicago)
And The Pulse is refraining from posting comments about the bash.....
Johnstone (Bucktown, Chicago)
Cincy is at best a 10.... And a scary 10 at that.
The Pulse (2:15 PM)
Dang it, folks. I'm sorry to report Jason Taylor has bolted the tournament and won't be able to chat with us.
The Pulse (2:15 PM)
The perils of live television.
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
Anyone else find the GW mascot more creepy than patriotic?
The Pulse (2:16 PM)
But we do have Todd McShay (I can see him fiddling with his microphone) from Boston to talk NFL draft next!
Adam (Wisconsin)
C'mon, I was looking forward to Jason Taylor.
The Pulse (2:16 PM)
So were we, Adam. Sorry about that.
Vinod (Blackfoot,ID)
So who's the next guest?
The Pulse (2:17 PM)
We're talking NFL draft for a few minutes. Todd McShay from Scouts, Inc. and then (hopefully) Florida WR Chad Jackson.
Bryan (Lubbock, TX)
I actually take off from work in order to celebrate the NFL Draft. That is how much I love it
The Pulse (2:17 PM)
Now that's ... dedication?
Bob (Sparta,NC)
If there is no CBA after this season, could we be looking at the last NFL draft??
The Pulse (2:18 PM)
In theory, I think that's true (or next year?) but that's the complete doomsday scenario. Just rhetoric from the players' union.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Will Vernon Davis last past the Top 10 picks?
The Pulse (2:19 PM)
You ask, and Todd answers! He says yes, probably.
michael ((Wisconsin))
i love the draft
The Pulse (2:20 PM)
How much stock do you all put in great combine workouts like Davis and Chad Jackson?
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
What questions will Todd answer?
The Pulse (2:21 PM)
Right now he's talking quarterbacks, with Jay Cutler. But we're hoping to get some of your emails in as well here.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Two Words: Mike Mamula...
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Terrible memories Wingo...
Sean (Baltimore)
Davis performed at Maryland, and had one of the best combines ever so I put a lot of stock into it. I don't like workout warriors, but Davis was dominate on the field also
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
I think it says alot for a great all over combine workout. It's not just coming up big in ONE drill, but all over... It says something about it.
Bryan (Lubbock, TX)
Cutler is overrated
Bob (Sparta,NC)
I don't put much stock in them at all. Florida wide receivers have always been over hyped only to bust or be very average players at the next level.
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
Two words I never wanted to hear again. I still have a Mamula jersey. It is basically a decoration from the bad times.
The Pulse (2:23 PM)
He just talked about A.J. Hawk for Mike in Chicago.
The Pulse (2:24 PM)
And now Maurice Drew for Mike in California (lot of Mikes on the show today).
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Is this the worst wide receiver draft class ever?
The Pulse (2:25 PM)
Good lead, Wingo. We'll have Chad Jackson next. He's moving up the WR charts after a great combine.
Bryan (Lubbock, TX)
heres my two words: Sinorice Moss
Sam (Indianapolis)
Who is AJ Hawk dating again? I forgot after the ten thousand time they mentioned her at the Notre Dame-Ohio State game.
The Pulse (2:25 PM)
And we had her as a guest on The Pulse!
Josh Jax, Fl
Florida wide receivers were only busts because spurrier only made them look good. They were always 4.5 40 type of guys. Chad is the real deal.
Sean (Baltimore)
Yes, but next year will be one of the best. Calvin Johnson is amazing
Alex (Brooklyn NY)
At my school there is an autographed Chad Jackson photo.
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
I wish my last name was Moss so I could be a pro WR.
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
I think Moss, Holmes, Jackson, make this a pretty good WR draft class
Adam (Wisconsin)
I don't think it's such a bad WR draft class. I mean, there's Chad Jackson... okay, it's pretty bad.
Josh Jax, Fl
Two words for Sinorice moss: A Bust
Irvin (Puerto Rico)
the last 2 years have had great wide receiver classes, it was just a matter of time before we hadf an average WR class.
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
Hawk's dating Laura Quinn. She infamously picked her brother to win.. what a joke. haha.
Bryan (Lubbock, TX)
Chad is the third best WR in the draft and Sinorice Moss is the best imo. Maybe me bein a Miami fan thats a homer pick but he is quick and very versatile in every aspect of the game.
Derek (Fresno)
Shouldn't we judge a class by its performance?
The Pulse (2:28 PM)
But then what would we talk about for the next two months?
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
I think Santonio runs the best routes, and is fast. I think Jackson is BLAZING fast, but rounds off his routes.. It's really which is your need?
Derek (Fresno)
Vince Young's wonderlic test.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
We are a very superficial society Derek...we judge people at our leisure...
Dari Nowkhah (2:29 PM)
Sorry guys... Jason sacked us. It hurt.
Adam (Wisconsin)
Certain teams, like the Ravens, need a speed receiver like Jackson. But teams like the Falcons need a route runner like Holmes.
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
Can we please talk about how Young got a 6 on his wonderlic, then got to retest.. alone in a room with an NFL player rep, and ended up with a 16?
The Pulse (2:32 PM)
Ok, what do you all think of that story? Do you downgrade Vince because of it, or is it much ado about nothing?
The Pulse (2:32 PM)
I mean, whatever the score, the guy had enough reading comprehension to pick apart USC's defense.
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Why does anyone care about the wonderlic anyway?
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
As Jim Rome Said "Look, the wonderlic may not mean alot, but with a 6, I wouldn't trust you to step off a curb, and not get smashed by a bus."
Sean (Baltimore)
Young's wonderlic score gets too much press. It has nothing to do with football (does it really matter if he knows what the 9th month is; its sad if he doesn't, but it doesn't make him a bad football player), and a 16 is not that bad
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
I don't think it should affect his draft value.
Vinod (Blackfoot,ID)
Those questions were sooooo easy! Will he be able to read the playbook?
Adam (Wisconsin)
Can someone please tell me what the Wonderlic test is? I can't find it anywhere.
The Pulse (2:33 PM)
It's basically supposed to be a measure of reading comprehension. More than actual knowledge.
Miles (Huntsville, Texas)
2 months ago, he was a college football hero. Now, people question is running, passing, and pretty much anything they can think of to discredit him. I guess people like to take shots at the people who are on top.
Bryan (Lubbock, TX)
its much ado about nuthing. The wonderlic tells u whether u can tell time or how much gatorade was drank in an hr or practice. It has nuthin to do w/ football
Irvin (Puerto Rico)
Based on the sample test that espn.com had i could have done better than vince young
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Exactly, I wouldn't draft Vince because he knows that 8 1/2 is the next logical number in a certain sequence. I'm drafting him because he passed for 300 yards and ran for 200 more in the national championship game.
Derek (Fresno)
USC had a defense?
Miles (Huntsville, Texas)
Didn't Dan Marino score a 14 on his wondleric? What a bust he turned out to be...
Jeff (Baltimore, MD)
I think my 3 year old could have gotten a 6 on that test. Just adds icing on the cake that Matt LEinart is the best QB in this draft
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
The wonderlic grades your ability to reason under pressure with basic knowledge. if you get 6.. 4 points under literate. That is a problem. He's the face of your franchise.
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
I think it's far more damning that Mac Brown said he did better the less he coached him than the wonderlich...
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
A scholarship player on Texas not being able to understand reading comprehension? And why am I not shocked about thses findings.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
NFL coaches want football players, not Rhodes scholars (if the guy can play, get off his back)...
The Pulse (2:37 PM)
So assuming you would put Leinart first (and speak up if you wouldn't), would you take Jay Cutler ahead of Vince Young?
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
Good point, I think he has proven that he definately can play.
Sam (Indianapolis)
Wingo, we dont know if he can play! He didnt do anything at the Combine.
Adam (Wisconsin)
I would draft Vince Young before Cutler, not because of his stats, but because he actually won games. You can't say that about Jay Cutler.
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
I think Cutler jumps Young for sure. He never was super accurate, Vick honestly isn't AMAZING, but he's semi educated.
Sean (Baltimore)
Cutler is probably the most overhyped player in this draft class. Kyle Boller anyone?
Derek (Fresno)
I'd take Cutler over Young.
Miles (Huntsville, Texas)
You don't think VY can play? Funny, I thought he played 3 years in college and won a national championship.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
He won a National Championship! I don't think the guy is incapable of being a player...
Vinod (Blackfoot,ID)
I never really saw Cutler play at Vanderbilt but I think I may just take him over Young.
Bob (Sparta,NC)
My question about Leinart is: Can the man take a hit? To me. it doesn't look like it. If you get taken off the board early, your protection isn't going to be that great.
Nicholas (Sunnyvale, CA)
Hey, Peyton Manning is considered one of the smartest QBs in the NFL... how many titles has he won? Exactly.
Greg, Miami, FL
Hey guys, wonderlic scores mean nothing. Jay Fielder went to Dartmouth...sure, he may have gotten a perfect score, but does that mean that he is any good??
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
I would just take Reggie Bush and hand the ball off. I'll play QB I don't care. I can run back a few feet and hand the ball into someone else's hands. Heck, give me A.J. Feeley.
Derek (Fresno)
Young can't throw the ball over 30 yards, and Cutler has the arm strength and accuracy.
The Pulse (2:41 PM)
Come on now, I don't think arm strength is one of the things anyone worries about with Young.
Vinod (Blackfoot,ID)
The only problem with Leinart is that he isn't mobile at all.
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Jackson looked like a young TO in that combine reel....
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
Young can't throw over 30 yards? I think you mean Leinart.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Cutler is so accurate that Vanderbilt went what, 11-34 when he was behind center?
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
No, but from 30 yards and out Young proved he couldn't hit a bus.
The Pulse (2:43 PM)
He was the most proficient passer in D-I!
Derek (Fresno)
When was the last time you saw Young complete a 30 yard fade route?
Greg, Miami, FL
Derek from Fresno, just so you know, Young was the only quarterback among Whitehurst, Croyle, and Cutler to hit a target from 50+ yards...do some research, my friend.
Adam (Wisconsin)
Young can't throw the ball over 30 yards? Did you watch the Rose Bowl??
Tony (Kansas City Kansas)
How many big games has Cutler won? Has he ever brought his team back
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
Put Cutler in USC where Leinart was and the results would have been just as good.
Don (Seattle, WA)
Vince Young won't be able to run away from NFL DEs the way he did in the rose bowl
Jeff (Baltimore, MD)
What it basically comes down to is if you want to win a Super Bowl you need to take Leinart, if you want to Sell tickets than you should take Young. Running QB's dont win Super Bowls!!
The Pulse (2:44 PM)
John Elway and Steve Young didn't win any Super Bowls?
Vinod (Blackfoot,ID)
Jackson just said it was common sense!!!!! Vince is only 6 out of 50 on common sense questions? You will need common sense as a QB.
Robert (San Antonio)
Amazing. One test and suddenly he can't play. Are you all morons? He was 30-2 and played in a top conference. Do you think Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma and USC don't run sophisticated defenses? They didn't exactly bother him. And the guy can throw 70 yards downfield and now he can't throw? Amazing.
Amanda (Ohio)
I'm just not real big on those QBs whose mentality is always run first. I'm still not sold on Young's passing ability.
Greg, Miami, FL
John Elway was very much a running quarterback...with 2 super bowls.
Jeff (BAltimore, MD)
NO, their arms won them super bowls...how many Championships has Mcnabb, Vick, Cunningham...ETC won??
The Pulse (2:47 PM)
Wait, wait, wait. You're saying McNabb and Culpepper are more run-first quarterbacks than Elway and S. Young were at the same point in their careers? That's crazy.
Adam (Wisconsin)
Athletic quarterbacks may be the future for that position.
Joshua (Portsmouth, Ohio)
Elway and Young were scrambling QB's.. Vick is a rushing QB. Be fair.
The Pulse (2:48 PM)
I'll give you that, but I don't think the comparison from another chatter looping in McNabb and Culpepper was fair. I'd say they compare very much with Elway and Young.
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
McNabb won't run, that is why he hasn't. All because he doesn't want to be labeled a running QB too. It's a shame.
Greg, Miami, FL
I don't know about you guys, but in that champsionship game, I saw Young put on a display of finesse and accuracy. Sure, his receivers were open a lot of the time, but someone still needs to get the ball to them. And frankly, I don't care if he runs or passes...it's the yards that matter. Remember, Vince Young single-handedly won that national champsionship. Without him, Texas is blown out. I don't think of that as overrated.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
This has become a real dumb, repetitive argument; deal with it people, Vince Young is getting drafted, and you won't have to wait long to see it...
The Pulse (2:51 PM)
All right,. fair enough we'll leave it there. Eric Dickerson is on air right now!
The Pulse (2:52 PM)
Where does Dickerson rank on the all-time list? Is he up there with Payton, Emmitt, Barry Sanders, etc?
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
Barry Sanders broke my ankles every time he cut. I miss watching him play. Best all time if you ask me.
Vinod (Blackfoot,ID)
He's a little below Emmitt. Not in the same league with Sweetness or Sanders.
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
I don't remember him being as dominant as long as the upper echelon, but the hear of his career was as good as anyone's...
Jeff (Baltimore, MD)
Speaking of All-Time list, Reggie Bush will be a top 10 running back of all time by the time he is done, probably top 5 as long as he remains healthy.
Bob (Sparta,NC)
Dickerson speaks the truth!!! The Hall of Fame is very political and the voters(sports writers) hold grudges which is a shame. Especially the way Art Monk and Michael Irvin have been snubbed.
anthony (canyon,texas)
Dickerson would be at 4 all-time but not as good as Barry Sanders'who is number 1.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I liked Eric Dickerson's game alot, but I think Payton and Emmitt where the creme de la creme....
The Pulse (2:56 PM)
All right, you all seem a little burned out on football. We're going to head back to hoops at the top of the hour, updating scores and talking to Joe Lunardi.
Skeeter (EHT, NJ)
Jim Brown is the best..
Bob (Sparta,NC)
Barry Sanders is not the #1 all time. That spot belongs to Jim Brown.
The Pulse (2:57 PM)
Two votes for Jim Brown, so we'll leave it there.
Brett (Bay City, MI)
If the Buckeyes run the table and win the Big Ten Tournament, does anyone see them as a 1# seed?
The Pulse (2:58 PM)
I have a feeling Joe Lunardi will be talking about that much desired fourth No. 1 seed.
The Pulse (2:58 PM)
Meanwhile, Louisville is tied 37-37 at half with UConn in a big game for the Cardinals.
The Pulse (2:58 PM)
Although even that might not be enough.
Sam (Indianapolis)
Lunardi has such an easy job. Three months a year just talking about college bball.
The Pulse (2:59 PM)
But he's pretty darn good at it.
The Pulse (2:59 PM)
He also works in the administration for St. Joseph's, so it's not his only gig.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Villanova + #1 seed = National Championship!
Vinod (Blackfoot,ID)
Louisville needs to run the table to get into the tourney.
Adam (Wisconsin)
Who's up next on The Pulse?
The Pulse (3:00 PM)
Joe Lunardi is in his chair right now, getting ready to talk.
Sam (Indianapolis)
If Louisville wins the tournament, I will not watch the NCAA. That is how little faith I have in the Cards.
The Pulse (3:01 PM)
Vandy is up 10 on Tennessee at half. That could end any remote hopes for a No. 1 seed for the Vols.
Adam (Wisconsin)
It's amazing how fast Louisville fell this year. A few months ago, they were one of the favorites in the Big East.
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
I just want to give a shot out to Seton Hall. Preseason projected 15th place finish in the Big East, and now they are going dancing. You have to love it. Go HALL!
Mike, NY
Does George Washington deserve even a top 3 seed? This past thursday I was at the game vs St.Bonaventure, and GW did not play like a top 10 team.
The Pulse (3:03 PM)
They aren't exactly wiping the floor with Charlotte right now, but they're up six at the break.
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
GW is missing Pops, that is why.
The Pulse (3:03 PM)
Fair point.
caleb ((Georgia))
tennessee isn't going to be a number 1 seed if they win the SEC tornament
Adam (Wisconsin)
George Washington might even deserve a no. 1 seed.
The Pulse (3:04 PM)
Well, let's start there. If we assume UConn, Duke and Villanova are safe (at least for now), who deserves the final No. 1 seed? And why?
mick (north miami beach)
no no no...its still duke..nova....uconn and memphis
Derek (Fresno)
GW is being disrespected.
Sam (Indianapolis)
Easy Adam, the A-10 is a little too easy to make a #1 seed.
Josh (Lake Jackson,Tx)
GW will get to the sweet sixteen and thats it
The Pulse (3:06 PM)
I sense a referendum on GW coming up in here ...
Derek (Fresno)
GW deserves maybe a 2 or 3 seed, not a 1
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
They are in a bad conference, they don't deserve it.
Sam (Indianapolis)
Texas because they have beaten many good teams like Kansas and only have lost to good teams like Duke.
Jeff (Baltimore, MD)
GW should be like a 5 or 6....they, like Gonzaga, should be penalized for playing NOONE!!
Vinod (Blackfoot,ID)
It has to be Memphis... If Uconn loses to the Cardinals then Memphis would be #1 in the country.
The Pulse (3:08 PM)
Not after losing to UAB this week.
Josh (Lake Jackson,Tx)
Texas? o come on they lost to ATM on a low scoring game too many losses an close ones for me.
Brett (Bay City, MI)
Texas got smoked in 2 games by over 15 points
Josh (Lake Jackson,Tx)
Duke, UCONN, MEMPHIS, AND NOVA FOR SHURE
Trevor (Raleigh, North Carolina)
How about lets talkabout the UNC vs. Duke game
The Pulse (3:09 PM)
Don't worry, we'll be talking about the ig game. We're talking about the rest of the bracket with Joe right now.
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
I am sick of hearing about Duke vs. NC. No thanks.
Sam (Indianapolis)
The Zgs could find themselves a #1 seed with Texas, Memphis losing/
Vinod (Blackfoot,ID)
That isn't fair. GW doesn't choose their schedule! They have done extremely well with the schedule they have been given. 2 or 3 seed for sure.
The Pulse (3:10 PM)
That's not entirely true. They pick their nonconference schedule.
The Pulse (3:12 PM)
How about we get some sleepers from you guys? Teams you think will be seeded fifth or lower? And give some reasoning!
The Pulse (3:12 PM)
Maybe even someone like Washington, who has slipped below the radar recently.
Adam (Wisconsin)
Maybe George Washington can be the next team accepted into the Big East. That would make it, what, twenty teams?
Derek (Fresno)
Nevada baby! They have a great inside game with Nick Fazekas. Expect them to get to the Elite Eight.
Jesse (Wisconsin)
UAB is always underrated, they are always impressive in the tourney, and they still get no national attention.
Rob (Windermere, FL)
Kentucky, they are playing well of late and they are too talented to not be a threat in the tournament. If they get an 8 or 9 seed, watch out
Steve (Dallas)
Texas AandM. 6 in a row, they are killing Texas Tech right now. They will be dancing.
The Pulse (3:14 PM)
Joe has them as one of his last four out, still some work to do in the B12 tourney.
Brett (Bay City, MI)
Even though Michigan State lost today I think they will be extremely dangerous in the tournamet as a 5-6th seed. They are extremely athletic and can get hot from the outside
Greg(Titletown)
BC, veteran leadership, sweet frosh PG Rice, they will make some noise if they don't run into the officials from the Duke game
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
Seton Hall, the team is so streaky. They could get blown out by 50 in the first round, but they could also go on a run far into the tourney.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Good to see Roy Jones stinks at something besides boxing these days....
The Pulse (3:15 PM)
Yes indeed, Roy Jones is up next on The Pulse. Any fight fans out there?
Cam (Oxnard, CA)
for a washed op fighter?
Jesse (Wisconsin)
Nope
Steve (Dallas)
Boxing is like watching paint dry.
Sam (Indianapolis)
No, not really.
Brett (Bay City, MI)
No one cares about boxing anymore - next
Cam (Oxnard, CA)
boxing is only as exciting as its heavyweight division...and that division stinks
stefan (eugene)
YAH!!!!!
The Pulse (3:17 PM)
Well, there's one ...
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Who is this Welsh fighter that's fighting tonight on Showtime? (and was featured in ESPN the Magazine)?
The Pulse (3:17 PM)
The only Welsh native I know of is Catherine Zeta Jones, and I'm guessing it's not her.
Michael, Chicago,IL
Do you think Roy would put up a bout against Mosley if both were in there prime as of today?
billy (constatinople pa)
roy jones was never a good boxer
Anthony (Canyon,Texas)
I hate boxing.
Jesse (Wisconsin)
I'd watch her box.
Cam (Oxnard, CA)
i would watch her do....anything
Derek (Fresno)
The middle weight and light weight have been interesting. Heavyweight is boring now.
Vinod (Blackfoot,ID)
Boxing isn't a sport, Just a glorified verzion of street fighting.
Albert (Van Nuys, Ca)
I love boxing but the heavyweight division sucks right now.
Derek (Fresno)
What about that 7'0 guy who is the heavywight champ?
stefan eugene
one what?
The Pulse (3:19 PM)
Boxing fan
billy (st.augestine flordia)
Mosley would kill Roy!!
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Joe Calzaghe! man, don't you guys read your own magazine at ESPN?
Cam (Oxnard, CA)
where have you gone marvelous marvin hagler?
The Pulse (3:20 PM)
There you go, Wingo. Dari and Roy are talking about your boy Calzeghe.
Greg(Titletown)
I wonder if Roy has the cure for a ridiculous hangover. Maybe if he knocks me cold, it'll go away and I'll forget about it
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Calzaghe is 40-0 baby!!
Jesse (Wisconsin)
Dari didn't know the last name though.
Cam (Oxnard, CA)
hey pulse...any word on the nfl talks?
The Pulse (3:22 PM)
Nothing new seems to have broken today.
The Pulse (3:23 PM)
All right, we'll be checking the basketball scoreboard at the bottom of the hour.
The Pulse (3:23 PM)
So if you've got some thoughts on Lou-UConn, GW-Char or Lipscomb-Belmont, sound off right now.
The Pulse (3:24 PM)
Louisville is up six with 15 minutes left.
Cam (Oxnard, CA)
roy jones rapping? what a train wreck
The Pulse (3:24 PM)
GW up five on Charlotte.
The Pulse (3:24 PM)
Anyone think Louisville deserves to be in?
Derek (Fresno)
I just daid that and you didn't post it. Have to take the credit, don't ya Pulse?
Sam (Indianapolis)
If Louisville wins, Nova better be scared, all of the other top four teams would have lost.
The Pulse (3:25 PM)
Yeah, but they lost to UConn last week.
Cam (Oxnard, CA)
louisville does not deserve in...poor conference record
Derek (Fresno)
Yeah, but they lost one of their players during the loss to UCONN.
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
Louisville needs to go to at least the finals of the Big East Tourney, and more than likely win it.
Brandon (North East, PA)
UConn is a good team. Nothing to be ashamed of there.
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
All Big East final to the NCAAs this year. UConn and Nova. That's my prediction.
The Pulse (3:29 PM)
And UConn surges back into the lead, 52-50./
James (NY)
UCONN is a good team when they put some effort into playing
Cam (Oxnard, CA)
uconn and nova are the two most complete and deepest teams in america
Steve (Dallas)
Louisville better win or they will be out, no matter how far they go in the Big East Tourney.
Jesse (Wisconsin)
Obviously Rick Pitino gets his kids to play hard in March.
The Pulse (3:32 PM)
Ok, where were we?
Jesse (Wisconsin)
Belmont Lipscomb? The game to see who gets to play in the play-in game.
Kurt (Boston MA)
Lets get to baseball
The Pulse (3:34 PM)
Not a lot of baseball on the show today (I think we had a WBC highlight at some point ... hours ago). But we'll start piling up the baseball guests as the month continues.
Vinod (Blackfoot,ID)
James Woods??????????
The Pulse (3:35 PM)
He's a big-time poker player, so we'll be talking some cards with him.
Sam (Indianapolis)
What baseball? it is just spring training and the WBC.
Cam (Oxnard, CA)
fine...the world is shocked to hear that kerry wood is hurt
The Pulse (3:35 PM)
And there's your baseball.
Kurt (Boston MA)
I'm not watching todays show, I usually do, but I'm too busy with Spring Training, I'm too anxious for baseball to begin
Jesse (Wisconsin)
No baseball because nobody cares about the WBC. I'm not watching a game at 3 am, I gotta be sleeping.
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
As much as I like cards it is getting too much exposure.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Will James Woods be discussing the Academy Awards?
The Pulse (3:36 PM)
I think it's safe to assume he'll get asked about it. ...
The Pulse (3:37 PM)
We're winding down here. Anyone want to throw out their Oscar picks? Best picture? Best Actor? Actress?
James (NY)
It's March... there are other things going besides College Hoops?
Sam (Indianapolis)
Nobody cares, this is sports not AandE.
Cam (Oxnard, CA)
best actor juaquin phoenix...he was unbelievable
Jesse (Wisconsin)
Reese Witherspoon wins for whatever she was up for, Best Actress or Supporting Actress?
The Pulse (3:39 PM)
Actress, for Walk the Line.
Nico (Simi Valley, California)
GEORGE CLOONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Steve (Dallas)
Brokeback Mountain will win 5 Oscars. Mark it!
Curt (Wi)
You guys at the Pulse need to pickup your game
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
Where is Russel Crowe on the Best Actor list? Cinderella Man was outstanding and so was he. He is the Michael Jordan of acting.
Steve (Dallas)
Jon Stewart will be a great host.
The Pulse (3:41 PM)
All right, not a lot of movie buffs out there apparently.
chauncey (teaneck)
Terrance Howard for hustle and flow.
The Pulse (3:42 PM)
All right, we're winding down on The Pulse. Where we headed for the final few minutes in here? James Woods is up next on air to talk poker.
Chris (Austin)
University of Texas will win the NCAA baseball national championship again.
Steve (Dallas)
Hockey. Dave Tippett is not happy with the Stars. Big surprise.
Cam (Oxnard, CA)
louisville is playing as hard as i have seen them play this year
Cam (Oxnard, CA)
ncaa baseball?..come on pulse...control what is going on here
The Pulse (3:44 PM)
It's 3:45, Cam. Sort of the open-mike section of the chat.
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
Sounds like Shaun White is getting desperate, got shot down by Sasha Cohen, next thing you know he's hanging out with lindey lohan...
The Pulse (3:45 PM)
Hey, we've got some breaking news. Unconfirmed reports that the NFL labor talks are very dead.
The Pulse (3:46 PM)
It doesn't look like there will be a labor deal. This could get messsy for the NFL.
Jesse (Wisconsin)
Surprise surprise.
Fenst (Feasterville, PA)
Damn labor deals, always ruining everything.
Cam (Oxnard, CA)
gene upshaw is a cancer to the union
Jesse (Wisconsin)
I would care more if my Packers weren't in great position to deal, or even benefit, from this.Redskins fans might be pretty mad though.
Sean (Baltimore)
Bad news for all the small market teams.
Jon M. (Hudsonville, MI)
I love sports, but I am really sick of all of these athletes complaining about how much they're making. They're playing a game for pete's sake. I definitely think professional atheletes should not make more money than those who really make our country go (the president, no matter who it is, and the military)
The Pulse (3:51 PM)
All right, we'll leave it at that. Make sure to stick with ESPN.com for all the news on the possible breakdown of labor talks.
The Pulse (3:51 PM)
And we'll see you next week for The Pulse!
