THE PULSE (11:42 AM)
What does everyone think about Danica Patrick? Is she going to win a race this year? What happens if she doesn't? What if she does? Send your comments for on-air!
Ryan (Ga)
Who would I choose between Cutler, Leinart, or Young? Without a doubt Matt Leinart. He has the best potential, he's got a chance to be the next Carson Palmer, most experience. He's the only QB i think could step in right now and be effective. Next I'm going with Young. He's too athletic. He won every game last year, he put up spectacular numbers and did it usually only playing 2 to 3 quarters, he'll sell tickets. He probably won't be ready this season but in a year or two I think he'll be the franchise QB for whatever team he plays for.
farina (rush)
i think the whole saga with Danica Patrick is completly over rated....She will win at least one race and that will be it
Matt Blackwell (Tunnel Hill Georgia)
Jay Cutler is the most underrated quarterback in the country he has put up outstanding numbers playing with Vanderbilt. He has lead a subpar team to a great season having to play in the best conference in America. I love Brett Favre but Cutler is the only quarterback that could possibly fill Brett's shoes.
Dell Johnson Houston Tx
The texans should draft Vince Young because David Carr is a sitting lemon
Nick (Peoria)
Danica has a good chance of winning this year she has a good team around her and a year under her belt but even if she doesn't win it wont hurt her marketability ala Anna Kornakova.
Brian, North Vernon, IN
Leinart and Cutler are good QB,s and could start for any NFL team there isbut, Vince young is a playmaker he has the ability to take the game into his own hands and win it. This is something you do not see with the other two, if it was my team I want the best player and that is Vince Young
Tim (Frederick, MD)
I would defenetly rather have Jay Cutler. This guy has raw talent, and the more over-hyped players, like Young and Leinart, usually turn out as "busts".
THE PULSE (12:24 PM)
Let's hear some NCAA Tournament predictions!
Jeff(Bloomington IN)
An old high school friend of Cutler here...the guy is a winner. Always has been. He obviously has the tools to be great in the NFL, but the thing that separates him from the rest is his confidence and swagger. He has "it", whatever that means...
Chase (East Meadow, NY)
Villanova all the way. Foye and Ray you cant go wrong there
David (indianapolis)
what about Memphis????????
THE PULSE (12:35 PM)
What about 'em? Lemme guess .. no respect!
THE PULSE (12:38 PM)
We're nearing showtime! 20 minutes away! Keep sending your comments! You ARE The Pulse!
Tim (FL)
I hope everyone's got their eye on the gators, they can easily take down 'Nova and then the only team they need to worry about is Texas.
Ryan (Ga)
I hate to jump on the bandwagon but i think after the close games UConn has had... they'll step it up and win it all. Florida's another scary team to watch out for. Other than last nights game they've been blowing teams out in the tourney.
craig (nc)
i'd say it's still gonna be uconn, they had their worst night last night and they still won
Pat (New York)
For everyone, how does this years tournament rank to previous tourneys
Som (Screwston, TX)
LSU vs. Texas is the best match up in the Elite 8. Both teams extremely athletic (LSU has Thomas, Tex has Tucker), rely heavily on their big men, depend on outrebounding, and streaky outside shooting. It will be interesting to see if LSU continues to play stiffling defense or if the guards for texas come out big.
Zaid (West Des Moines, IA)
UCLA has a great chance of winning, they have tons of confidence after that amazing come from behind victory over the Zags.
Zaid (West Des Moines, IA)
UCONN has won all their games in nail biting situations. They will need to come out strong versus George Mason.
Martin (Texas)
Texas can make it to the championship if they play there best. But if UConn is able to make it Texas may be in some trouble.
Martin (Texas)
UConn should be able to beat George Mason unless they have another game like last night.
Ryan (Nashville)
It's amazing that teams don't full-court press Texas more often....they have no ballhandlers.
Ryan (Nashville)
If UConn wins, they will be the least-liked champion of all time. They never play up to their full potential.
Ronny (NY)
Every time an anyalist picks UConn to beat a team, its the same reason over and over agian. UConn has to much talent. Well, if Texas faced them, the talent will be evenly patched with Texas's Daniel Gibson, PJ Tucker, and Lamarcus Aldridge againt Marcus Williams, Rudy Gay, and Josh Boone. That is pretty evenly matched up.
Ryan (Ga)
I'm just happy Duke is out!! I think J.J. Reddick showed us why he won't be in the top fifteen come draft day!!
Som (TX)
It took 47 FT attempts for UConn to beat Washington. They turned the ball over 20+ times. Dont think they can afford to do that vs Florida, Nova, Memphis LSU or Tex. They dont resemble the swagger of some of the teams that have won it all in recent history
Doug (Boulder)
Those Patriots are just so loose right now, they'll give UConn all they can handle but UConn will pull away and win by 3.
Daniel(Houston)
Can you say an all-SEC Final. LSU v. Florida.
Phil, Houston, TX
I watch a ton of college hoops and really thought that U.W. got jobbed big time last night in the U Conn game. The entire starting 5 fouls out, critical missed goal tending call late and a chicken crap technical called on Roy. U Conn was handed the game on a silver platter.
THE PULSE (12:55 PM)
Five minutes to showtime!
THE PULSE (12:56 PM)
Turn on ESPNEWS at 1 ET to be part of The Pulse!
THE PULSE (12:56 PM)
Just got word that Jamie Dixon is staying at Pittsburgh! A little NCAA news to kick us off!
Paul (UCLA)
Washington should have beat UCONN but they couldn't make free throws
Billy Mcfarland (Reading,PA)
Florida is so good they are like so grande, but there cheerleaders are muy fea.
Ryan (Nashville)
Has there ever been a tournament where the announcers called out the referees more regarding bad calls? It seems like it happens late in every game.
Matt (New Waterford, OH)
UCLA put up a good game against Zaga' and now theyre pumped up to go in and beat the one seed memphis i think well see the final four Tex, UCLA, UCONN and NOVA
THE PULSE (1:00 PM)
Showtime! Welcome to The Pulse!
Billy Mcfarland (Reading,PA)
UCLA is from California so there is no way they are winning.
Hammer (Sharpsburg, PA)
Congrats to PITT for extending Jamie Dixon. Stability is key to a program. Unfortunately he will probably lose his top recruiter in Rohrson....looks like Seton Hall for him.
John (Orlando)
Good news for Pittsburgh with Jamie Dixon.
Will (KC)
If the only way UCONN can advance is for the refs to foul out Washingtons whole team, they aren't going to win it all. The officiating in that game was disgusting and I don't give a hoot about either team, I'm from Kansas
eric (NJ)
Just like north carolina's close call vs Villanova in last year's sweet sixteen, Uconn, having stared down elimination, will come on stronger and better and win it all
Matt (New Waterford, OH)
UCLA has been waiting for a game like this, winning this game will revive the UCLA program, watch for them to make a run for a the championship!
THE PULSE (1:09 PM)
Victor in Chicago! We'll try to get your comment on but please don't send it over and over and over! Deal?
Steve (Dallas)
UCLA will have no problem with Memphis. If Memphis can barely beat Bucknell, UCLA will cream them.
Victor (Chicago)
Ive heard and read alot of posts from UW fans complaining about the foul situation and stuff and I say boy you finally got what you deserved. Illinois got screwed against UW with the foul situation.
Steve (Dallas)
Good afternoon, Pulse. How y'all doin' today?
Steve Bunin (1:11 PM)
Victor - I think sports fans in Seattle are still smarting from the Super Bowl. They did have a huge FT advantage vs Illinois, but that doesn't excuse some of the questionable calls vs UCONN. Brandon Roy's T hurt them badly.
Matt (New Waterford, OH)
You cant say that UCONN only won because of UW's team fouling out, maybe, yes, but it was a close game for most of it, so all you can argue is that it might have gone into overtime
Jason (Atlanta, GA)
Did the refs screw Washington?????
BILLY M (READING,PA)
TWO WORDS, JORDON FARMAR, HE IS THE KEY IF UCLA WANTS TO WIN.
David (Houston)
Everyone is assuming Texas will get by LSU. LSU will be the toughest matchup for Texas. In fact I think their inside game will be to much for Texas.
Steve Bunin (1:12 PM)
Hey Pulsites - Jay Cutler coming up on The Pulse. Who do you think will be the best QB: Leinart, Young, or Cutler?
Tessa, Portland, ME
Hey, boys! Don't you like to post a question from a girl? Sitting here at work waiting for a response.
Steve Bunin (1:13 PM)
Tessa - welcome to the show. Now, what kind of sports knowledge can you throw our way? Who would you draft 1st: Jay, Matt, or Vince?
matt (the pulse hates me)
ya victor, that comment pulls its weight right, you sure your not bias
Jeff (Hartford)
The double technical called on Roy and Gay last night was ridiculous. They were just jabbin. The refs should have just seperated them. There was no need for a double technical. That call killed Washington. The officiating was terrible!
bob (Washington)
I cant belive the zags blew their lead
Christine (Fresno)
It did go into OT, UW would have won the game
Nick (Howell, MI)
Go Michigan St. in Women's Basketball
Steve Bunin (1:14 PM)
Nick - Howell rocks. I used to work in Lansing, then in Kalamazoo/Battle Creek. Coach P knows her stuff, and she's one of the nicest people you'll meet in sports. Along with Izzo, there isn't a nicer or more successful pair of coaches in the NCAA.
frank (philly)
Villanova will meet texas for final game
Sean (Detroit)
This wasn't a good year for the Big Ten...my spartans lost to that dark horse GM
Jordan gould (Tell City Indiana)
I think it's funny that Morrison started crying
Tony Philly
Do you actually think Villanova can make it pass Florida and go to the final 4?
branden (Hartford)
Anderson is clutch we it comes down to one shot, Uconn is goin all the way
Steve (Dallas)
Villanova will get to the Final Four, then lose to UConn.
brigi (nj)
nova's the best team left in the tournament with the most hunger to win it all
John (Orlando)
'Nova vs Florida is the best match-up in the Elite 8. I think they match up good against each other Tauren Green vs Allen Ray will be a great guard match up.
Travis Walker (Terre Haute, IN)
George Mason is going to pull of the biggest upset ever and knock off UCONN!!
Steve Bunin (1:21 PM)
John - you only have to post once, bro. We'll put it on if it's good enough! Now, I see you didn't say who's gonna win: Nova or Florida?
John (Fairfax)
UConn is getting it done, but just barely... it just seems that they don't have the "fire" since a lot of their players are heading to the NBA regardless.
marc (atlanta)
why is there a double standard in the media when it comes to duke basketball? Whenever they get 51% of the calls there is collective outrage, whenever it goes wildly the other way, there is collective silence.
Steve Bunin (1:21 PM)
Marc ............. ............... (get it?)
Mike (Syracuse)
Nova will beat Florida. The fast tempo will favor Nova. They have more talented guards. They won't shoot so poorly vs Florida.
Burton (Dallas)
It will be a hard fought game, probably one of the best in the elite 8 matchups, but the Florida Gators will prevail. our athleticism matches there's, but we have an advantage b/c we have 4 athletic 6'8"-6'10" big guys...Go Gators
Alex (Houston)
LSU/Texas should be a great game between two inside-oriented teams. The difference is going to be who can get the shots from the outside. I think Texas is going to take it from LSU with thier outside shooters (if Paulino can duplicate that kind of clutch shooting)
Matt (New Waterford, OH)
i dont see Texas winning it because of inconsistency
Chris (New York)
UConn won because you know that CBS was never going to allow either UWash or George Mason in the final four. You don't think that played a hand in the poor officiating ? UConn draws much bigger ratings then either of the other 2 schools could.
Mike (Grand Rapids, MI)
Lions should do everything in their power to draft Jay.
Steve Bunin (1:25 PM)
Pulsites - by the way, Vince Van Patten (poker star) is back on the show. Send us your emails!
Benjamin (Seattle)
If Nova starts slow again they won't have a chance vs. Florida.
Steve Bunin (1:26 PM)
Benjamin - glad you're up early and not fuming over the Huskies (UW) loss. What do you think of the officiating? Personally, I tell all the kids I've coached you can NEVER blame the refs. But many Dawgs fans feel differently.
Greg (Los Angeles)
LSU will beat Texas. They are more athletic and have the bigs to shut down Aldridge.
Benjamin (Seattle)
The phantom tripping by Dentom and the goaltending by Armstrong sealed the West Coast Huskies fate.
Randy (Newtown)
With his great play last night, Will Sheridan is finally getting some attention... the four guard play was hardly used last night. It shows how Villanova can adapt to do anything to win.... Nova over Florida
Lew (RI)
am i on the pulssssseeeee..
Steve Bunin (1:27 PM)
Yes Lew, you are. Mazel Tov.
Samuel (Texas)
Jay Cultler should be the first quarterback drafted in the draft. He played in okay college ,Vanderbilt, and still did excellent. He did great in the combine as well. If he was on a good team in college, he would be the best quarterback with no doubt.
Josh (Oklahoma)
Carolina will win the super bowl next year fo sho'
Derrick (North Richland Hills Texas)
If Texas can bring what the have done so far to tonights game they will advance
Antwuan (Keller, TX)
The best player matchup in the Elite 8 will be Arron Afflalo against Rodney Carney. Afflalo is instant offense and locks up with the other team's best perimeter player every time. Carney is the most explosive player in college basketball. He can score any way and every way.
Steve Bunin (1:29 PM)
Antwuan - great call. Afflalo has flown under the radar all year b/c of the East Coast bias. So has Carney for that matter. That will be a HECK of a matchup. Who do you like to come out on top?
Mike (Syracuse)
Oh, yeah, forgot about Sheridan. Nova has plenty of big guys that will match up well vs Floridas. Sheridan, Clark, Cunningham, Frasor. They have a bigger team than people think, because they usually use their guards more. They proved they have big guys last night vs BC though. Nova wins, with their underrated versatility to play big, and small.
Mike (Seattle)
What was the deal with the shoddy officiating in the UW vs. UCONN game? Don't they know we want to see the players decide the game and not them?
Kris (San Fran)
There were too many bad calls that went one way.....and at critical points in the game.
Benjamin (Seattle)
The reffing was that bad, the Huskies did the most damage to themselves. The OT calls were a little bad though.
Wheres (Showmaster)
Who is Steve Bunin and where have you taken the Showmaster?
Steve Bunin (1:30 PM)
Wheres - I'm the co-anchor of the show today. Who's the showmaster?
Drew (Cleveland, Ohio)
Well to be honest, in drafting a QB it depends on who my stater is and what kind of knowledge they can impart upon any of those three fine college athletes, None of them are ready for a starting job, I think that the teams still looking for a QB are so banged up on the offensive line that it doesn't matter who you put back there, the QB is gonna get leveled.
Shawn (Philly)
Nova won't shoot as poorly, but Noah is a stud, it should be very very close...
Matt (New Waterford, OH)
i dont know. I think that LSU will become over confident because of beating the 1 seed, so i think theyll come into the game and try doing too much and Texas will prevail.
Zaid (West Des Moines)
I think LSU has a ton of confidence after beating Duke. This will help them edge out Texas.
Earl (Philadelphia)
Any one who has watched Nova hoops this year knows they are special. Foye and Ray are staples, but every game, when it is needed the most, someone steps up. Jay Wright is an underrated coach. He has put the young players in positions to gain exp. all year, in preperation for the tourney. GO NOVA!!
Zaid (West Des Moines)
UCONN has been getting out to slow starts against their opponents. They will need to come out strong against GMU
Zaid (West Des Moines)
Texas vs. LSU will be very fun to watch. Both have big inside presence. PJ Tucker vs. big baby!
Darron (Maryland)
I am seriously upset with the way CBS has covered this tournament. Last night when George Mason was winning by 10+ they were still televising it even though Washington and Uconn were all tied with uder 2 to go. That is absolutely insane and i believe they should not be allowed to televise the tournament anymore. ESPN should do it because they have multiple channels and you could flip to the game you wan to watch instead of being forced to watch what CBS wants to televise. It's monopolizing the event. Poor job CBS
Lloyd (Oakland)
UConn played some of the most careless basketball I have seen in a long time last night. The good news for them is they've played 3 terrible tournament games and their still in the Elite 8.
maurice holden (akron, ohio)
I'm a big ohio state fan and from what I understand their defense will have to catch up with the offense but do you think they deserve the number 1 ranking in football since v. young left tx early? What are their chance of winning the national title. TX WILL FALL TO OSU THIS FALL. GO BUCKEYES
Dave (NY)
how is jay wright underrated? are you high? he's coach of the year, his team has been dominant all year, and he once led hofstra to 2 straight NCAA appearances and got a guy named Speedy Claxton noticed by some NBA scouts
Pat (West Caldwell, NJ)
So much for the "down year for the SEC". Two teams in the Elite Eight! When will the talking heads stop hyping the ACC and Big Ten and give this conference some regular-season respect?!?!???
Talking (Heads)
Don't forget about the Big East, I mean, we love them too and wanted all 16 teams in the tournament. And we would only have one left if UCONN wasn't pulled through last night
Shawn (Berwick, PA)
Florida > Villanova, Villanova will choke just like all Philly teams do in the big games.
Zaid (West Des Moines)
I must admit, I thought the Big 10 was very powerful in the regular season. Being in Iowa, I saw them lose to NW St. and GMU beat Mich St. I do not think they are a "Power" conference anymore.
Ryan (Nashville)
All season, the Big East essentially amounted to UConn, Villanova, and a bunch of other mediocre teams. They still deserved a bunch of bids, but those 2 have been the class of the conference all year.
Mike (Syracuse)
I think Shawn is just angry his application got denied from Villanova.
Matt (Chesapeake, Va)
Everytime a sports team in Washington loses now are we gonna blame the officiating? Seriously, the Superbowl I'll give ya, but the officiating last night was not at all terrible.
Chip (Harrisburg, PA)
I think Shawn is just angry because he lives in Berwick (P.S. my mother is from Berwick).
Dave (NY)
The Big 10 is in even sorrier shape next season, with stars like Dee Brown, Paul Davis, and Maurice Ager moving on to the NBA
Ben (Cincinnati, Ohio)
UConn went to the free throw line like 45 times. Something defanitley was wrong with it, especially that last call. Over the back? Are you kidding me? That was just a bunch of guys desperately wanting the rebound, and it was totally clean.
Shawn (Berwick, PA)
Ha, Mike is one funny guy. You want examples? See the Eag;es(McNabb getting sick in the SB) as well as 3 straight NFC Championship losses, then the Sixers heck even the horse from Philly couldn't get the job done. And yes I do hate Berwick.
Johnstone (Bucktown)
Ohio State is going to own the Big 10 next year. Greg Oden is a FREAK and could have a "Carmelo Impact"
Shawn (Berwick, PA)
Danica was the absolute best thing that could've happened to the IRL
Erick (Indiana)
Not only will Danica win, but she will finish 2nd in points this year!
Steve Bunin (1:51 PM)
How funny were those IRL drivers, Pulsites? Could have been the best interview we've ever had on the PULSE.
Steve Bunin (1:52 PM)
My bad Zaid -- how do you pronounce it?
Michael (Connecticut)
Danica wont finished 2nd in points this year.. maybe 9th or 10th .. with two wins.. that including indianapolis 500..
Bill (Oakland, CA)
Chesson anderetti that was comedy they need a reality show!
Jon (New York)
Danice might be the best thing to happen to IRl.. but.. it's still IRL..
Stephan (Richmondville,NY)
looking at these UCONN Wash highlights that was a fun game to watch last night
JR (Atlanta)
Why is no one giving Memphis and love...they are the most talented team from top to bottom in the country outside of UCONN but they are not a favorite to win today...you all better wake up..the Tigers are for real!
Johnstone (Bucktown)
Michael Owen had to have surgery on his broken foot compromising his chances of being match fit for the World Cup. (Chirp, chirp, chirp)
Steve (Dallas)
I put my bracket with Duke as the champ through the paper shredder Thursday. That could have never felt so good.
Steve Bunin (1:59 PM)
Johnstone - soccer fan? Who do you like in the Cup? Hard to pick against Brazil, even with Ronaldo slumping.
Jamey ( Ms )
Best coach left in the tournament? CALHOUN
Earl (Philly)
Danica has brought more interest to IRL. Before her, I thought it had something to d with Ireland. She is young, and will continue to get better.(Has Dan Patrick got a new parking spot yet?)
Jim (Gainesville)
no it wasnt. it was misserable watching wash blow it and appleby choked. TAKE THE BALL TO THE BASKET!
Jeremy (Rochester Hills, MI)
At this point i think Florida has the best chance of surviving this game tommorrow. I picked them when the season started to go to the Final Four
Mark (Boston, MA)
BC vs Nova was great game. Foye is a stud.
David (Ashland, OR)
UConn is overrated they needed the refs help to win that game last night. Although that Andersons threes off the bench is about as clutch as anything ive seen this year in basketball.
Eric S (Kingston, Michigan)
What is propelling George Mason to this Miracle run? They may even beat UConn(doubtful) if they play their best and UConn plays its worst!
Travis (Alabama)
IRL is better than NASCAR, but NASCAR has more commercial appeal. You actually need to be an athlete to be in the IRL. Overweight people like Terry Labonte and Tony Stewart wouldnt even be able to fit in an IndyCar nowadays.
Dave (NY)
This speech is making me hungry...
Jon (New York)
That's like saying sumo wrestlers arent atheltes because they're a little chubby
Thomas H (Madison, NC)
Don't count out George Mason. They have already beat two great teams this tourement.
Paul ((Santa Monica, CA))
UCONN was shaky the whole tournment, if they want to go to the national championship then they have got to step it up.
Dave (NY)
I agree. Their physique doesn't matter, it's the lack of physical exertion that really means they aren't atheletes...
Will (KS)
Stop saying racers are athletes. Whats next, pin ball leagues. Chefs being athletes? I drive a car and it doesn't make me an athlete! Even if I drove around in a circle for 12 hours
Derek (Auburn)
This the best tourement in a long time. Every game is coming down to the last shot
Justin (Omaha)
The ONLY reason I's like to see Texas win it all this year would be to see a school hold the Big 3 in National Championships at once. That would be cool and a very tough task
CJ (Flint)
Yeah, thats the same Will. Try doing at 200 mph with someone on your tail for 5 hours
Travis (Alabama)
Do you drive a manual open wheeled car 3 wide going 200 MPH? I didnt think so...
Dave (NY)
I'm gonna go do my daily workout - drive to 7-11 with my great athletic abilities, and refeul with some a that miraculous "pizza" cure coach Calhoun talked about
Brandon (Memphis,TN)
I like u JR you like my hometown team two so yea your cool and UCONN better watch out in the Championship game
Saad (Baltimore)
Im thinking France they've done it before
Steve Bunin (2:08 PM)
Saad - France got it done on its home turf, but this year? I think it's the Brazilians unless they coach or the Italians.
mike (Long Island)
Lets go Tigers! Memphis wins it all!!!
Brandon (Memphis,TN)
listin to Jon he has a point
Matt (New Waterford, OH)
Poor barry bonds, nobody will leave him alone
david (Ashland, OR)
How bad was the officiating last night in the Wash-Conn game??? Those refs were so scared at the end of the game security had to walk them home.
Dave (NY)
Bonds is making himself look really guilty by throwing out his suit just so he doesn't have to testify under oath
UCONN (Highlights)
What about the one when the official gave uconns pregame peptalk. That was a good highlight
Steve (Dallas)
I just got back from Barnes and Noble, getting Game of Shadows. I can't wait to start reading.
Travis (Indiana State)
Bonds should just come clean so we can put this whole steroid era behind us.
Derrick (North Richland Hills, Texas)
Hey i live in a trailer park and that was not a funny joke
Zack (Michigan)
How long before his first 'roid rage' incident involving a writer?
Jon (New York)
Yes, poor multi-millionaire.. poor poor multi-millionaire..
Brandon (Memphis,TN)
Screw Barry Bonds he took steriods Bonds brought all of this on hisself Matt he shouldn't have taken steriods
Zaid (West Des Moines)
Netherlands will win the World Cup.
Andrew (Oshkosh)
If the media left Bonds alone, he would call a press conference to complain about the media
Lawton (Charleston)
Sumo Wrestlers are by no means atheletes, they eat themselves to death, the other night ESPN showed some sumo wrestling and the guy who won was 5'10" 415
Brandon (Memphis,TN)
Can we please get back to hoops talk
Brain (The Great State of Texas)
Texas had better play alot smarter today 'cause LSU has the athletes to match...
Sam (Atlanta, Georgia)
George Mason will lose by 20. They don't match up well with Marcus Williams, Josh Boone, and Rudy Gay.
CJ (Flint)
Hopefully Bonds hurts himself before the regular season again.
Deuce (Lansing, Mich.)
Is there any doubt that UConn is the best team in the tournament by far? Sure, they've played three close games but when the Huskies turn it on, they're unstoppable. After being beaten down by Washington last night, UConn finally flicked the "on" switch and the rest was history. Anyone doubt that if UConn plays like they did in the final 12 minutes last night they'll easily win the title?
Phil (Eugene)
Was that the worst piece of officiating we have seen in the tourney last night in the UCONN-Washington game last night or what? I would say UCONN did a damn good job coming back to win that last night, but the officiating definetly won them that game.
Steve (Dallas)
Does anybody besides me believe that Garry Sheffield knowingly took steroids?
JOhn (Dallas)
Again, Memphis gets no love despite being the most impressive team in the tourney so far. Go Tigerssssss
Alex (San Antonio, TX)
Texas is easily going to handle LSU. The only reason they beat Duke, is because they played horribly and J.J. had one of his worst games. A season-low in points. No way they could have won.
Matt (New Waterford, OH)
Does barry bonds complain? Maybe yes, but look at a player like manny ramirez, hes always complaining and he doesnt get the media like barry does
Zaid (West Des Moines)
I think Bonds will retire very very soon. He knows he will get caught soon.
Chris (Cleveland OH)
Forget about the World Cup its MARCH MADNESS BABY.
Zaid (West Des Moines)
Steve Bunin- Who has been your favorite interview in your career?
Steve Bunin (2:27 PM)
Zaid - honestly, that was one of 'em. But I'm a huge John Wooden fan, so any interview w/Bill Walton is on my list, 'cause he preaches the religion of the Wizard of Westwood. Jay Wright (NOva coach) was on here a few weeks ago. That was pretty tight. And Roger Federer.
Jon (New York)
Steve, you mean you DIDNT have George Mason in the Sweet 16? Preposterous!
Steve Bunin (2:28 PM)
Jon - I had Wichita State in the Sweet 16 - does that count for anything?
Jeff (Connecticut)
I am a big UCONN fan, but the refs screwed Washington over.
Steve Bunin (2:28 PM)
Look at Jeff - telling it like it is.
Michael (Margate, NJ)
Some really great basketball coaches have come from Philadelphia and Jay Wright is another name on that list.
CJ (Flint)
There are no great coaches, just great players.
Steve Bunin (2:32 PM)
Send your Florida comments now!
Matt (New Waterford, OH)
thats a bull crap line! So your saying that coaches like coach K or Jim Boehiem or Bobby Knight should just be replaced by some low playing know nothing guys?
Dewey (San Francisco)
How many substitutions did Jay Wright have last night? 85? Clark and Cunningham give Villanova a bigger presence on defense, but they lose offensive mismatches with Ray and Nardi on the bench. Hard for Ray and Nardi to get into the rhythm of the game with that many ins-and-outs, and Clark and Cunningham are hardly offensive threats.
Bill (Jim Thorpe, PA)
Nova is going Gator Hunting!!!
Jim (Philadelphia)
Florida cannot turn the ball over like BC did yesterday. If they do, they are COOKED.
Brad (Boston)
Florida showed that they can play against a slow-tempo team, but I dont think they have enough to beat a strong willed Villanova squad.
Derek (Auburn)
Why do you think good coaches constantly hAVE GREAT players? Because they're great coaches
Andrew (Oshkosh)
Joakim Noah should play radio basketball so we dont have to look at him. How can you not think that is funny. O yeah, Nova will beat them
Zaid (West Des Moines)
Florida has a power man in Joakim Noah. He may take over the whole tournament.
greg (mt.kisco,NY)
i love the gators they are playing really well and their best players are all sophmores whp play really hard so they will get it done against nova
Colin (NJ)
LSU will win
Matt (New Waterford, OH)
i love the team chemistry! They always know were to put the ball, IN THE HANDS OF JOAKIM NOAH!!
Tom (NJ)
Memphis has looked amazing so far but i dont know if they make the final four they can handle texas or lsu
David (Ashland, OR)
Good call about the refs. They dropped more calls then my cell phone service.
Dave (NY)
i just dont care if sheff or anyone else took them while they were still legal, which is what's in question, as long as theyre not doing it now that it IS banned
Go (Memphis)
Rodney Carney is a beast!!! When that guy dunks his head is at the rim, now if they can get Dozier to stop going Rasheed Wallace with the T's they have a great chance
John (Indiana)
How does Uconn get to the elite eight without even playing that well
Nathan (Kentucky)
Florida is hot. They will win the title, and Noah will go pro.
DJ (Bradford, MA)
all college athletes should be required to take a public speaking class.
John (CA)
How can any person claim that racing is a sport. If it is it requires the least amount of physical talent. Also how can anyperson watch cars drive around a circle for a few hours.
Derrick (North Richland Hills, Texas)
Hey steve and john what do you think about dallas getting TO
Mike (Philadelphia)
Don't blame Appleby for not going for the layup, he didn't telegraph that pass that got stolen
Andy (Houston, TX)
vince young is the best prospect on the board. he has every intangible that you could ask for (winner, leader, well-liked, etc) and has unmatched athletic ability. leinart will be good and i don't know about cutler. VY is the real deal.
Ronak (Nashville)
Jay Cutler has all the tools to make it at the next level
jonathan (green bay WI)
Cutler would be my pick. he is split image of a quarterback i know Brett Favre. Strong arm and accurate.
matt (the pulse hates me)
leinart, cutler= product of system, like all the texas tech qbs
Bobby (Hillsborough, NJ)
Cutler has the most accurate arm, I've seen a ton of Vandy games. He also always hits his receivers perfectly on slants.
Chris (Boulder)
Leinart is the man. Young played in a gimicky system and Cutler never had a chance to prove he has the winning mettle
Matt (New Waterford, OH)
Jays arm is a weapon of mass destruction!!
Brandon (Memphis,TN)
Why are we talkin about football man it's MARCH MADNESS!!!!!!!!!
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I thought a Commodore was an RandB singer...
Derek (Auburn)
Cutler will be a very good player. Maybe not a Hall of Famer but maybe a pro-bowler
Travis (Indiana State)
In five years everybody will wonder why Vince Young was so hyped.
dr0z77 (germany)
what up peeps!
Cj (Los angeles, Ca)
Because UCONN is the team with the most NBA talent
Zack (Michigan)
Pure Talent.
Trish (CT)
Memephis will not be in the final four. They are just too young. Give them a year!
David (South Dakota)
Memphis makes the final four but that is it.
patrick (palmerton,Pa)
i have villanova and texas to play in the finals
Jim (Philadelphia, PA)
Texas, UCLA, UConn, Villanova - that's your Final Four ladies.
Bennett (Chico, CA)
Nova will win by 13 points today. Florida cannot handle their offense.
Cj (Los angeles, Ca)
Joakim Noah dunks like a girl.
Derek (Auburn)
Why aren't we saying no team can match the 4 guards of Nova? It's all about Nova getting dominated down low.
CJ (Flint)
Coaches have great players because they boosters pay for them.
Steve Bunin (2:52 PM)
CJ - what are you talking about? How are the Flintstones anyway - Charlie Bell, one of the most underrated guards in Big Ten history.
Richard (Syracuse)
doesnt nova play tomorrow?
Chris (Boulder)
Young was smartto come out with his stock as high as it will probably ever get.
Alex (Boston)
I smell a Ryan Leaf... Vince Young has one unforgettable moment like Doug Flutie and he will get a whole career out of it.
Steve Bunin (2:53 PM)
Verrrrrrry interesting point, Alex -- I think some NFL people are starting to smell the same thing - not the total flame-out that Leaf was, but maybe a real struggle going from a shotgun offense in CFB to behind-center in the pro's.
Derek (Auburn)
Leinert will be the best pro. He played against the best competition. He played against team's haymaker every week
DJ (Bradford, MA)
Vince Young=Michael Vick-Light, all legs, not accurate, fun to watch, maddening to root for.
Richard (Syracuse)
vince young can't read nfl defenses bill bellchick makes his money on guys like him
JR (MI)
There is no good QBs in the draft just year. Just product of a System with good teammates
Chris (h-bizzoro)
Cutler could not throw a grape in the ocean. We all know that.
Ryan (Ga)
What RB (besides Reggie Bush) will go 1st? White, Williams, or Moroney?
Bobby (Hillsborough, NJ)
George Mason plays some awesome D, and definitly have a chance of beating UConn. They will play their hardest, so you have to give them a chance.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
How do I actually know this guy is the coach of George Mason University and not an imposter?
Dan (Eugene)
Anyone else besides me rooting for Mason tomorrow?
Steve (Dallas)
Dan, you're the lone ranger. UConn will destroy George Mason.
Matt (New Waterford, OH)
GMU here!
Seth (TN)
George Washington will lose to UConn by 25 or more. They just don't match up well.
Steve (Dallas)
1 hour to go!
Joe ((Troy, NY))
Everyone should root for George Mason. America loves an underdog and having them in the Final 4 would be a great stroy.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
What's the over/under for times Jim Calhoun whines tomorrow to a referee?
Dan (Eugene)
Hey, I didn't say they would win necessarily, I'm just rooting for them. I think it would be great for the game to have them in the Final Four, and it would also help me in all my pools.
Jon (New York)
BLASPHEMY!
Shahin (Greenville, NC)
Yeah America does love an underdog, but CBS wants teams generate revenue in the Final 4 and GMU is not one of them.
Dayne (East Dublin, GA)
We need for Kenny Mayne........not dancing
Jason (Phoenix)
Hmmm... A tough decision: March Madness or Golf.....MARCH MADNESS BABY!!!!!!
Mark (MS)
I dont forsee Reggie Bush being a great NFL player
Steve Bunin (3:13 PM)
Send your Villanova comments now!
Travis (Indiana State)
Steve, if you were an NFL GM and needed a QB who would you take?
Antwuan (Keller, TX)
I think Nova woulda been my lock for National Champions if Curtis Sumpter wasnt hurt.
KASEY (SIOUX RAPIDS)
Nova got lucky with Boston College...i'm guessing they are out in the next round vs florida
Dustin(ashland, ky)
who cares what CBS wants! honestly ill take the underdog. i mean if GMU goes all of the way thats got the all of the makings of a Disney movie.
Steve Bunin (3:14 PM)
I'd take Matt Leinart; I'm convinced he's the real deal, and so are all of my NFL spies. But I'd also keep in mind (yes, I'm talking to you, Jets and Texans fans) that no matter who you have at QB, you gotta have time to throw, or you're done. Look at Brady, Peyton, Hasslebeck, Favre in his great years, Montana -- they all had great OLines. The game is won in the trenches. If you don't have the hogs, you ain't gonna win.
JD (CT)
Huskies have played awful still in elite 8 here comes the sleeping giant!
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
How cool was it that Villanova ran the same exact inbounds play to beat BC that it ran to also beat Cincy in the last seconds of both games!
Travis (Indiana State)
Nova's lack of inside play is going to come back to haunt them...
Majik Johnson (Hollywood)
The UTex 2-3 zone not only matched ut shut down the Nova guards ...and the Horns dominated them in the paint to boot
Dayne (East Dublin,GA)
The only thing that gives Nova a shot is how their coach rotates the players for endurance
Dayne (East Dublin,GA)
Since when is Steve Bunin about IRL clothing?
Steve Bunin (3:17 PM)
Doug Gottlieb is coming up at 3:30 .. send your questions for him ..
Randy (Newtown)
It's a play Nova practices every day since the phantom travel call last year against UNC
Kasey (sioux rapids)
Nova has the best gaurds in all of basketball...on an off night like they had vs. BC they almost loss...next game they will be on fire and not look back vs florida
Sid (Brooklyn, NY)
When is Sam Walker gonna be on the show?
Steve Bunin (3:23 PM)
In the next 30 minutes..
Matt (Strongsville)
I think Nova's guards are quite overrated, especially Allan Ray. These guys all shoot on the low end of 40% and seem to just start chucking 3's at times.
Majik Johnson (Hollywood)
Can anyone imagine how good Texas would be if TJ Ford had not left for the NBA? Ford, Gibson, Aldridge, Tucker, and Buckman. Yeow!
Andrew (Oshkosh)
well the Bucks would be better if TJ Ford had not left early!!!!!!!!!!!
Andres (Indiana, PA)
yeah, keep thinking about Ford while LSU brings the big guy and frustrate the longhorns out of the tournament! Its a bad match up for the horns and Vince Young is not playing.
Matt (New Waterford, OH)
Is LSU going into there game with texas over confident?
Bobby (Hillsborizzle, NJ)
Well just think about how good duke would have been if they still had deng. I mean they would have been disgusting this year.
Dayne (East Dublin,GA)
Imagine if Lebron would have gone to College
Bill (Jim Thorpe, PA)
We'll see how overrated Nova's guards are after they skin the gators
kasey (sioux rapids)
name other backcourts that has schooled both of the gaurds in the same game....foye had 29 points vs BC becuase allen ray had a bad shooting night
Wally California
What do the Villanova players eat for a pre-game meal. .... My favorite is pancakes..
Steve Bunin (3:28 PM)
Wally - I'm a french toast guy myself, but normally, cereal and milk does the trick. I don't know what the Wildcats eat, but they're off the chain on the court.
Dustin(ashland, ky)
If you were a team like texas, would u trade down and try to solidify that O-line or just take the best player available...Bush??? They have a decent RB and QB, just no line at all
kasey (sioux rapids)
Can GMU do the upset vs uconn??
Dayne (East Dublin,GA)
Doug, How good is Kevin Pittsnogle, overated,underated... whats your assesment?
Matt (Strongsville)
Was anyone besides me stunned to find that Doug Gottlieb played basketball in college, I mean look at how unathletic he looks.
Joe (Troy, NY)
Stunned doesn't begin to describe it.
Andrew (Oshkosh)
Why is it snowing during a NASCAR race?!!!!!!
Stifler (Michigan)
Andrew, its called weather, get over it.
Kevin (Boston Sports Nation)
Villanova is "off the chain" on the court, hmmm. Is that slang for "outplayed for 38 minutes in regulation last night and lucky to win" ?
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Wahwahwah, Boston...doesn't Johnny Damon look great in pinstripes?
Matt (Strongsville)
What's more stunning is that Doug Gottlieb actually played....he averaged 8.6 assists per game in his junior year.
Travis (Indiana State)
Damon is another example of players playing only for the money and not for the love of the game.
kyle (or)
Nova showed they can play a tough physical team. And win. Florida could be in trouble.
Zaid (West Des Moines )
Still can't believe you pronounced my name wrong... I take that as an insult haha just kidding.
shad (caribbean)
lol
Jermaine Tripp (Medina,Oh)
Please dont let the refs get caught up in the games and decide them. Let the men who worked so hard all year play ball and call the obvious. Dont ruin the game for the true college bball fans. holla
Zaid (West Des Moines )
STEVIE BUNIN!
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
he loved Boston so much he almost ran people over to get out of there (just like the Babe)...
Dayne (East Dublin,GA)
Please turn off your cell phones while in the Pulse
Steve (Dallas)
Dayne, what are you, AMC Movie Theaters?
Travis (Indiana State)
If the Royals would have offered Damn top money then he would be in KC right now...
Dayne (East Dublin,GA)
Stop with the Baseball talk, you will have 7 months to discuss it. Continue with March Maddness!!
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
The Royals could have offered Damon part ownership and he still would've left...
Steve (Dallas)
I wish The Pulse was a 5 or 6 hour chat. I have to go back to worrying about school til' next Saturday.
Dustin(ashland, ky)
NY payed top dollar for a 32 year old past his prime and with a Bum shoulder. Boston got a 24 year old(Crisp) that can throw the ball and put up the same numbers. not to mention he doesnt have that big price tag
Andrew (Oshkosh)
yeah I have an exam monday that i havent started studying for. and because of sports and my discovery of the pulse it may not ever happen
Travis (Indiana State)
Athletes need to take a lesson from Tom Brandy and take less money so that more money can be spent on their teamates.
Dayne (East Dublin,GA)
I cant wait until football season.. the best time of the year!
Andrew (Oshkosh)
The best time of the year is without a doubt March Madness. And this is coming from a HUGE football fan
Steve Bunin (3:53 PM)
Pulsites - time to head out. Thanks for hanging with us- nearly 2,000 posts - now THAT is old-school. Peace in the Middle East ... BIZZYE!
Dustin(ashland, ky)
March Maddness always makes me sad this time of the year, knowing that the only thing thats going to be on is baseball. they should have year round football/basketball
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
good to see Sam dressed up for this interview...I often wear a t-shirt to work with my sports coat...
Steve (Dallas)
Well guys, it's been great. Got plans next weekend, so my return to the Pulse is questionable. See y'all next week, or April 8th.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
until we meet again...late
Dayne (East Dublin,GA)
If it is the best time of the year, then why is this board filled with baseball.
aaron (los angeles)
Evrybody watch the UCLA BRUINS slow down the "fast athletic" memphis tigers, tonight! GO UCLA!
Dayne (East Dublin,GA)
Lets create a petition for a daily pulse
THE PULSE (3:58 PM)
That's a wrap for today! Thanks everyone! See you next weekend at the same time!
