The Pulse (10:43 AM)
Hey, we've got a late addition for you baseball fans enjoying the first week of the season. Kevin Millar of the Baltimore Orioles will be on, so send in your questions!
The Pulse (12:49 PM)
Ok. we're minutes away from the show. How is everyone today?
The Pulse (12:50 PM)
Two big topics right off the top of the show, we're talking about Brett Favre and The Masters ...
The Pulse (12:50 PM)
What do you all think is going to happen with Favre? He didn't clear much up today at a news conference for a charity event.
The Pulse (12:51 PM)
Does he owe the Packers a decision? Did they owe it to him to do more in the offseason?
The Pulse (12:52 PM)
Now is the best time to get your take on air, if you've got a good take on Favre ...
David (Chicago)
Watching Favre at these press conferences is more painful thank watching Willie Mays with the Mets or MJ with the Wizards. Make up your mind already!
The Pulse (12:53 PM)
That's what I'm talking about. Good stuff, David.
Andrew (Corona,CA)
Farve dosen't want to be remebered as a 4 and 12 quarterback. He will come back for 1 more year.
The Pulse (12:54 PM)
But what happens if the team around him isn't any better. What would another 4-12 record do to his legacy.
Steve (Dallas)
Its not that hard when your body is breaking down to make a decision.
Bryan (Oshkosh, WI)
There's a very a negative reaction here. It's getting ridiculous. He's leading everyone on and no one knows why. I still think he's coming back and yes the packers do owe it to him to do more, but today was a sham
Frank (Ansonia, CT)
I say sign Farve to a 2 year deal that will allow him to properly bring Rodgers in slowly
The Pulse (12:56 PM)
I don't know, I don't think Favre has any interest in being a mentor to Rodgers.
Steve (Dallas)
What if the Packers go 3-13 this season if he retires? Is it his fault because he didn't come back?
Steve Bunin (12:57 PM)
Hey Pulsites - welcome back! We've got a hell of a show for you today - Lavar Arrington, Mike Conley SR and JR (Olympic triple jump Gold Medalist and future OSU hoops star), - Kevin Millar, Clinton Portis, Jerry Porter -- Roger Federer and my favorite - ROB SCHNEIDER - yes the star of BENCHWARMERS.
Chico, St. Paul, MN
LaVar, "Have anybody from the Vikings contacted you for possibly playing for the Vikes? If not/so what do you think of comming and playing here? Don't worry I don't think there will be much of a rookie party this year and I know it won't be anywhere near water.
bill, san diego
lavar, why wouldn't you consider the cowboys? we would welcome you with open arms...and teaming you with demarcus ware would make for something special.
Frank (Ansonia, CT)
But I would think that he would have a vested intrest in how well the Packers do after he leaves. Brett was coached by some of the best QB coaches in the last 15 years. He would want to pass that knowledge along, I would think.
The Pulse (1:01 PM)
You would hope so, but his comments so far haven't suggested it.
The Pulse (1:02 PM)
Does anyone think the Packers have the talent to make a run if Favre returns?
Steve (Dallas)
Brett's legacy will not be tarnished if he comes back and the Packers go 3-13. Just consider what he has done for the franchise.
Travis (Indiana State)
Favre is trying to pressure the GB front office to sign some big name free agents, but once again that isn't going to happen...
The Pulse (1:03 PM)
Charles Woodson, maybe?
Alex New York
Do you feel mad at Joe Gibbs for letting you go and not giving you playing tome last year?
Deion (Charlotte NC)
Just because Favre is a legend doesn't mean he can alter the way the packers attack free agency or the draft. He needs to make a decision soon.
Steve Bunin (1:04 PM)
Keep the good questions coming for Lavar Arrington, Pulsites - he's here soon.....
Johnstone (Wrigleyville)
The Packers lost a TON of really close games last year with a disaster of a line and a bang of injuries. They might make a playoff run, not a run for the bowl.
Steve (Dallas)
I doubt Lavar Arrington will try GB.
Adrian (Hong Kong)
So let's say that Favre retires. Who becomes the starter for GB this year? If I'm not mistaken Tim Couch is still on the team, isn't he?
Johnstone (Wrigleyville)
Favre got hit last year so many times you would have thought he was married to Jim Brown.
Deion (Charlotte NC)
Just because Favre is a legend doesn't mean he can alter the way the packers attack free agency or the draft. He needs to make a decision soon.
alex, d.c.
lavar, any chance of coming back to d.c.? we miss you.
Steve (Dallas)
No, I don't think so. They just had too many injuries last year, and plus, Favre's body is dead.
Frank (Ansonia, CT)
They have a shot to make it to the playoffs. This IS the NFC North.
Kevin (Binghamton, NY)
Who is Lavar going to sign with? LA would look good as the next power linebacker for Big Blue!
Steve Bunin (1:06 PM)
Pulsites - as Dari talks Masters w/Andy North, I'm asking YOU - would you want lavar on your NFL team? 3x Pro Bowler, but only about 50 tackles and 1 sack in the last 2 yrs combined, and couldn't get along w/Joe Gibbs. What do you think?
DP (Windsor, ON)
(For Roy Williams): Roy, I am a huge fan of yours...the way you carry yourself and of course with the way you 'lay a lid' on your opposition on the field. Do you think the latest 'new beginning' for T.O. in Dallas could be his last if he happens to cause a corruption there as well? At some point you would think owners and teams would see the trail on dust this guy has left behind (in SF and in Philly)? Or is the desperation to win worth the gamble to these owners?
Johnstone (Wrigleyville)
Boomer Sooner!! This will be my first red/white game since grad school!!! ESPN kicks junk.
The Pulse (1:11 PM)
Ok, so play suspended at The Masters ...
The Pulse (1:11 PM)
Any golf fans out there? Or any non-golf fans who still watch The Masters?
john (san diego ca)
I GOT UP AT FIVE AM TO SEE FAVRE HOLD A PRESS CONFERENCE AND SAY "I DON'T KNOW WHY Y'ALL HERE AT MY PRESS CONFERENCE?"FLIP A COIN ALREADY,DUDE!!
Josh (Dallas TX)
Lavar what do you think about the possibility of switching sides in the rivalry, and joining up with the Cowboys? Have the Cowboys contacted you at all?
Josh (Olney Maryland)
Hey Clinton. Do you Think that The addition of two new WR will open the running game up with you with the Defense haveing more to think about then you, Moss, and Cooley. Also, you planning to dress up some more on your weekly Press conferences?
Zaid (West Des Moines, IA)
LaVar, when you retire, what do you want people to remember you as?
Matt (Bismarck)
No it wont be his fault. just like when the Eagles go 5-11, will be T.O.'s fault no. Favre is pretty much God, if he didnt come back he would still probably be the best Qb ever!!
Frank (Ansonia, CT)
Between The Players Champ and The Masters, this is my favorite month of the golf year. Too bad the Players is moving to May next year.
Kevin (Binghamton, NY)
Lavar and Antonio together again wearing blue in the meadowlands, watch out nfc east!
Aaron (Oceanside)
Lavar, you should definately sign with the giants. We need all the help at olb
jimmy (md)
this goes out to bill in san diego, im sure lavar wants to go to a team that has half a lick of talent, so dallas would be a bad choice
Zaid (West Des Moines, IA)
LaVar, is there any specific linebacker that you model your game after?
Brian (Rhode Island)
Come on Lavar, I know your trying to make your money, which is cool, but you gotta suck it up already and join The New York Giants and make a run at the Super Bowl this year!!!!!! Come on Lavar, sign the contract!!!! Join the Giants!!!!!
Josh (shelby,nc)
Lavar, you went to college with Shamarr Finney(from my hometown).Any chance of him being picked up by a teasm?I had heard you had gotten him the try out with the Skins the last few years.
Kurt Stuebs (Wichita Falls, TX)
Hey LaVar, how bout playing for Jim Mora JR. and the Falcons. Maybe take some pressure off Michael Vick being the superstar you are.
steve (portland OR)
hey Lavar. have you considered playing in the black hole? who was your team growing up?
Rick, NY
Lavar...the Big Blue needs another big intimidating linebacker. Play in the house that LT built, and join the list of great NY backers..LA! There's nothing better than bleeding blue and whipping the Redskins, Cowboys and Eagles!
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Will LaVar be firing his agents soon and getting some legal representation that knows how to read a contract properly?
Steve Bunin (1:22 PM)
Pulsites - great work w/Lavar - we couldn't get in all the questions on the air, but we have more opportunities right now w/Chris Speilman, talking CFB. Who are your top 3 national title contenders? I like WVU, USC, and Ohio State.
Frank (Ansonia, CT)
You have to be kidding me. Whomever said that Giant fans would give up salary and first-born's is crazy. The guy isn't even a top-10 player at his position.
The Pulse (1:23 PM)
But it'd be ok to give up your first-born for a top 10 player?!
Winslow (New York)
I Am A Eagles Fan And Would Like For The Eagles To Pick Chad Jackson In The First Round Because We Have No Threats At WR
Steve Bunin (1:23 PM)
Winslow - What's With Capitalizing Every Word? Doesn't That Take A Lot Of Extra Time? :)
Kyle Brown (Monticello, IN)
Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Penn State for the top 3 teams in CFB next season
Johnson (Tennessee)
West Virginia is a tad overrated, don't you think Chris? I can see them in the lower tier of the Top 10 but NOT top 5!
justin (forest hill md)
how can Notre Dame be over looked Steve?
Steve Bunin (1:25 PM)
Justin - I like ND too, but a tough schedule makes it hard for me to think they'll run the table. Home vs Penn St,, @ Mich. St., @ USC, home vs UCLA ...
Noel (East Northport, NY)
I Like Texas, Florida, And Ohklahoma
Josh (shelby,nc)
CLEMSON TIGERSSSSSS
Frank (Ansonia, CT)
I think you would have to add Florida and Michigan to that list. And maybe ND. Just a few thoughts.
Steve Bunin (1:26 PM)
You're right. Florida could be strong, but Year 2 may not be the Urban Title Year. I think he needs 2 more to win it all once he has all his guys there. Michigan will go as far as Chad Henne takes 'em, but I don't know that they beat OSU in '06.
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
Who do you think is going to win the Pac-10 conference. I think that confernece is up for grabs this year...
Steve Bunin (1:28 PM)
Dieter - I don't know how up for grabs it in, I like USC no matter how many new faces they have. I'll tell you one thing, being a Seattle native, it AIN'T GONNA BE UW!
Andrew (bel air MD)
notre dame and penn state are two teams that made a huge splash last year, getting back to prominance...they will continue on that path this year without a doubt....how would a national title game between those two storied programs look?? sounds like fun to me
Kyle Brown (Monticello, IN)
Oklahoma, Texas, and USC are the top 3 busts for next season
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
BTW, rest in peace Maggie Dixon....
Johnstone (Wrigleyville)
If you think that Texas is going to make a run with 2 green qbs, you have wires crossed.
andrew (BEL AIR, MD)
I agree 100% steve...usc has this guy still, his names carroll...he can do wonders and he will have whoever is playing there ready to win that conference
Noel (East Northport, NY)
Kyle have you LOOKED at a recruiting class this year theyre 3 of the top 10 title contenders
Johnstone (Wrigleyville)
Notre Dame and Penn State play each other in September.... Try again.
The Pulse (1:32 PM)
Hey, we jumped off on college football there for a bit, but getting back to The Masters ...
The Pulse (1:33 PM)
Anyone have thoughts on the final two rounds?
Steve Bunin (1:33 PM)
Yes I know they play in SEP, Wrigleyville -- I wasn't going in order, just listing the games. The Irish will be tough, but Year 2 in the C.Weis era might have some hiccups.
The Pulse (1:33 PM)
Jose Maria Olazabal making a run before play was suspended today.
Winslow (New York)
the masters is shutdown for now
Nathan (Delano, MN)
NOOO not The Masters!!!
Noel (East Northport, NY)
lefty will dominate the end and win it all
The Pulse (1:34 PM)
Does your interest depend on Tiger Woods being in contention on Sunday?
Kyle Brown (Monticello, IN)
Is David Duvall still in the running? Oh wait, he hasn't been in the running for in anything since the 90's
Justin (forest Hill MD)
This years masters is like a poker tourney, the course is too tough the 11th hole alone can take anyone out of thier round
Winslow (New York)
golf is making me mad the same people always come out on top
Noel (East Northport, NY)
No tiger is not playing his best due to his father (god bless mr.woods)
Kurt Stuebs (Wichita Falls, TX)
Without Tiger in the running there is no reason to watch.
Jake (California)
Tiger will win 10 masters before he retires
Brandon (Richmond VA)
If Tiger isn't in contention, then I dont care about the masters.
Frank (Ansonia, CT)
The final round can be just as intreging if Tiger isn't in contention. We just need 2 or 3 guys within 2 shots of each other during the last 9. Sunday afternoon at the Masters has all the allure of any other major sports event when its done like that.
tom* (parkville, md)
My interest in the Masters tends to depend on my lack of interest in whatever else may be on TV at the time.
Johnstone (Wrigleyville)
I will watch the final 4 holes of the last round if I am hungover and the remote stops working.... Does that count?
Marshall (Merced, Ca.)
Wouldn't the golf gods like to see Phil and Tiger down the stretch-or would those gods be CBS, because everyone knows the ratings would be through the roof$$$$$
Nathan (Delano, MN)
USC takes Pac-10 conference!
The Pulse (1:42 PM)
Ok, good stuff there.
Frank (Ansonia, CT)
Hmmmm.......Sunday afternooon in April. Early season baseball, college softball, or a major golf championship. YOU DECIDE!!!!
The Pulse (1:43 PM)
Oklahoma beating Texas AandM in softball, just days after AandM knocked off No. 1 Texas ...
Deion (Charlotte NC)
I would watch the Masters, but I might pass out due to the extreme boring levels.
Phillip (NC)
If North Carolina can get a quarterback established, do you see them making a run at the ACC title this year?
Milton,Florida
Lavar, I am a Jacksonville, FL native and avid Jaguars supporter and fan. When do you plan to make a decision on where you will sign? Wht haven;t you accepted the Jags offer if all the reports are true that we have offered you the best and hishest contract offer so far?
Winslow (New York)
i was also wondering why chad jackson is not talked about much after that great output @ the combine
Steve Bunin (1:43 PM)
Chad Jackson is TOTALLY talked about! He's the biggest mover among WRs! He's the bomb, yo.
Justin (forest Hill MD)
At least it is getting to be crunch time in the NBA, hey STEVE whats wrong with Tim D.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I'd rather watch the NFL schedule release instead of the Masters...
Steve Bunin (1:45 PM)
Justin - my spies say he's hurting pretty badly, but the Spurs can't really shelve him b/c the Mavs will pass S.Ant. in the standings, and then the Spurs would have to go on the road vs DAL and maybe even vs PHO in the W.Conf. finals ...
Rob E (Towson, Md)
So, was Eric Gagne a steroid user or what? Couldn't cut it as a starter, moved to the pen, gained 5-7 mph on his fast ball a couple years ago and becomes a dominater. And ever since the steroid policy went into effect last year, his body has continually broken down. What do you think?
Kyle Brown (Monticello, IN)
I think Rob E is insane
The Pulse (1:47 PM)
Next up we're talking individual dominance in sports.
Steve Bunin (1:47 PM)
Rob - that's a VERRRRRY interesting question.
Frank (Ansonia, CT)
I don't think Rob E is crazy. Two words. Brady Anderson.
Nathan (Delano, MN)
I think Rob E made a great point! I think he is!
The Pulse (1:47 PM)
Roger Federer, Tiger Woods, Floyd Mayweather, Annika Sorenstam, who you got?
Noel (East Northport, NY)
Rob, You have to understand that steroids Huet pitchers careers they dont wan't to bul up they tear muscles
Frank (Ansonia, CT)
No Rob, it was all Lord Calvert and venison steaks.
Andrew (Flushing, NY)
Eric Gagne did not use steroids ever!!! I refuse to believe that.
The Pulse (1:48 PM)
Or anyone else in an individual sport. Michael Phelps?
Kyle Brown (Monticello, IN)
I think the Suns are better off without Amare, because he is one of the most overrated players in the NBA and in sports period. Steve Nash paired up with any four players is still one of the best teams in the NBA
jeff (Dayton)
I would rather watch a news conference detailing more info gathered on Bonds steroid use investigation than the masters
Josh Jax,Fl
LAVAR SIGN WITH THE JAGS! TOP 5 DEFENSE WILL REVITALIZE YOUR DOMINANCE!
The Pulse (1:50 PM)
So back to dominance in an individual sport ...
JC (AZ)
Pele
The Pulse (1:50 PM)
All right, we should qualify that with "active" athlete ...
Noel (East Northport, NY)
Michael Phelps! Pulsew how could you accuse him he's a hero in u.s. sports
The Pulse (1:51 PM)
Yeah, that was a little bit of chat feedback. I was actually nominating him as one of the most dominant individual athletes, with Federer, etc.
Noel (East Northport, NY)
Phelps is incredible
JC (AZ)
I have to, ROger Federer and Tiger Woods
Kyle Brown (Monticello, IN)
Is poker an individual sport? If it is then Chris Ferguson is the most dominant individual athlete in sports
Kurt Stuebs (Wichita Falls, TX)
Ronaldo and the rest of the Brazilian national team dominate soccer every world cup since 1998 and other competitions.
The Pulse (1:52 PM)
Every World Cup since 1998? You mean the one World Cup that has taken place since 1998?
Robert (Wisconsin)
Mayweather is gonna prove tonight once again that he is the pound for pound king in boxing
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
Tiger Woods, Albert Pujols, Michael Phelps, Shaun White (snowboarding)
Sammi (Newburg NY)
when i think of dominance i think Tiger. Headlines i think bonds. Stupidity palmeiro
The Pulse (1:52 PM)
Shaun White, that's a great new nomination.
Jabin (blackwood, NJ)
As far as I'm concerned, the packers should just go ahead without Brett Favre at the healm. Don't get me wrong, he did great things for the packers and the game of football itself. But his time is gone. When things start to go wrong during a game you can always count on Favre to make a few horrible decisions because he lets his emotions get the best of him. It is definitely time to start a new era at the frozen tundra with Aaron Rogers leading the way.
victor alexandria,la
tiger woods will win the masters.
Marshall (Merced, Ca.)
Roger-what's it like knowing you can kick anybody's but in a game of tennis. You and Sampras in his prime would be an awesome match!! You are awesome, good luck with the rest of your career!!!
Maggie (Chicago)
Cael Sanderson. Now that's dominance.
Rob E (Towson, md)
Hey Noel, Not all steroids are designed to bulk you up. If I am not mistaken, more pitchers have tested positive for steroid use so far then everyday players.
The Pulse (1:53 PM)
Which of these guys make you watch a sport you might not otherwise watch?
Noel (East Northport, NY)
i thought u said phelps wass on roids sorry guys
Kayc (Boston)
yea ill go with Tiger Woods that guy is just amazing.
Justin (forest Hill MD)
If poker counts then Phil Helmuth would take it, look at the numbers, he is the Tiger Woods of poker.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
NONE
Kayc (Boston)
Tiger Woods. Golf is boring, but when he is playing, there is always a chance he will go on a tear and you will see something historic.
Taaven Jones (columbus, ohio)
Tiger Wood by a landslide
Nathan (Delano, MN)
Golf, Tennis, and poker arent sports... they're hobbies!!
The Pulse (1:56 PM)
Ok, nice little debate there.
JC (AZ)
Ronado, soccer is really broing but he plays with style, as with the rest of the Brazillian team so I would watch him
The Pulse (1:57 PM)
We'll get you updated on the news of the day next
The Pulse (1:57 PM)
And then we've got Kevin Millar coming on to talk a little baseball.
Steve Bunin (1:57 PM)
JC - Brazil rocks. My wife is from there so I'm totally tuned into the Brazilians. But Ronaldo, while still a top-10 player, is not the best anymore. Ronaldinho is the 2x World Player of the Year. He's the guy in the new Nike commercials...
Justin (forest Hill MD)
How Do you think Millar feels playing on a team where the HR leader only had 26? A drop off from his old squad
Alex (Brooklyn)
Kevin Millar that cowboy with a tattooe he's crazy, and on the Pulse. The pulse is now the wild wild west. And Millar's on the BOSOX. More like Boo-sox!! Go Yanks!!
The Pulse (2:00 PM)
Millar is on the Orioles now, Alex. You're free to stop hating him at this point.
Kayc (Boston, MA)
I don't think Millar is worrying about the homeruns did you see that pitching last night?? Horendous!! 7 walks in the first inning. Millar is probly worried a little bit more about his pitchers than his homerun hitters.
Alex (Brooklyn)
Anytime Millar hits a double no one cares, he goes 6-6 he's still on the trading block. I thought he was the guy the BOsox liked, oh I forgot what happens in Boston doesn't stay in Boston now that he's on the Orioles.
Larry (cheektowaga, ny)
Are all Yankees as clueless as Alex in regards to baseball?
Kurt Stuebs (Wichita Falls, TX)
Millar never has to worry about making the playoffs ever again because there is no hope with the team he is on.
The Pulse (2:05 PM)
Certainly not in the AL East. The question is do the Blue Jays have enough to disrupt the Red Sox-Yankees party at the top?
Kyle (Londonderry, NH)
Everyone in Red Sox nation still loves Kevin Millar even though he now plays for the O's.
Josh Schulz (Port Huron, MI)
I agree Baltimore is still missing some pieces to the puzzle
Larry (cheektowaga, ny)
How can you not like Millar, but it is sad that he is on a team in which the best player doesnt even want to be there (Tejada)
John (Sacramento, CA)
Millar's downfall is that he pulls every ball down the third base line. He's like Sheffield without the power.
matt gio s.i.n.y.
yes the Jays do have enough. However the question should be do the yankees have enough to stay in the redsox toronto race this year!!!!!! there pitching staff is horendous!!!!
Jon (NYC)
The Blue Jays could finish first easily if they moved to the NL West..
Kayc (Boston, MA)
Maybe if the Jay's had 5 or 6 more Roy Halladay's.
Justin (forest Hill MD)
Troy Glaus is giving what we thought power in the lineup, but the key to their team is B.J. Ryan
Brandon (Richmond Va)
The orioles will never win the AL East with the Yanks in it, because they wont spend in free agency.
Bob, Boston
Have you met Anna Benson yet?
The Pulse (2:10 PM)
Now that's hard-hitting news, Bob.
Edju Martin (Salisbury, MA)
The Blue Jays spent a lot of money but they'll come up short again...their big-ticket pitching signee may not make more than 10 starts, that's over a million-per-start
Winslow (New York)
I believe that you should consider the orioles before the Blue Jays if your talking about the yankees and Boston
The Pulse (2:11 PM)
Wow, that's a bold statement, but Millar would probably agree with you.
Michael (Westborough, MA)
I don't think the Bluejays have enough offence yet. They got Overbay amd Glause in the offseason but still need a little more. Maybe the pitching good get some help as well.
Bob, Boston
Millar, come down to the power plant tonight and all us Red Sox fans will buy you some beers.
The Pulse (2:13 PM)
Just a reminder, we've got Jerry Porter from the Oakland Raiders up next.
The Pulse (2:14 PM)
As Kevin Millar takes your e-mail questions ...
Noel (East Northport, NY)
what ever happened to bill mueller?
The Pulse (2:15 PM)
He's with the Dodgers new-look infield.
The Pulse (2:16 PM)
Ok, so moving back to football.
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
Raiders? Raiders? Did someone say Raiders? Oh wait that's playoffs...something the Raiders aren't going to make next season.
The Pulse (2:17 PM)
How about it? What do you all think of the Raiders going with Aaron Brooks?
The Pulse (2:17 PM)
Will he thrive in new surroundings? Or did the Raiders just find another Kerry Collins?
Alex (Brooklyn)
Larry Brown said he was going to trade Jerome James, why trade him, every game he starts he entertains the crowd and he is always knocking down shots, and onto 30 points a games, Jalen Rose, he can play PF and SF and SG don't trade him. And guys, Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis. Marbury is already the heart of NY everyone loves him, and Francis you just signed to a 5-year deal, but he isn't doing well, and every pay for a hot-dog goes to a salary. Larry Brown is a terrible coach. All you're going to get if you trade these guys is captain Kangaroo. Jamal Crawford is doing well lately but don't trade those 4.
Edju Martin (Salisbury, MA)
At least the Raiders replaced Norv Turner. They could have replaced him with MC Hammer and still upgraded.
JC (Phoenix)
He will compete with ASU legend Andrew Walter for the starting QB job
scott (jackson, ms)
I am a saints fan and therefore not a huge fan of aaron brooks but with moss and porter ne may lose but he will still be smiling
Edju Martin (Salisbury, MA)
Just what the Raiders need, an undisciplined QB to play with Randy Moss.
Justin (forest Hill MD)
I hope the Raiders are going to make a move in the draft, Brooks is a back-up
Marshall (Merced, Ca.)
Brooks isn't the right choice!! The Raiders always make bad decisions, the good choice is Matt Leinhart!!!
robb (carlisle, PA)
I think Brooks was a great pick up. He has great feet, good pocket presence and that big cannon that Al Davis loves. Plus he doesn't count 10 million against the cap like Collins did. What do you think Jerry?
Anthony (Riverview, FL)
Aaron Brooks will fail in Oakland. I'm a huge raiders fan and i can say that honestly. We just cut Kerry Collins because he was so inconsistent, and then we replaced him with another inconsistent QB. Makes no sense to me and Aaron Brooks hasn't done anything to separate him from the rest of the QB bunch besides throwing a backwards lateral.
Kyle Brown (Monticello, IN)
I'm pretty sure that even Ryan Leaf could do a better job than Aaron Brooks at this point
The Pulse (2:24 PM)
Not many people seem to think much of Brooks. But how about this, are the Raiders a playoff-caliber team if they have a good QB?
Alex (Brooklyn)
The great raid. Starring Jerry Porter, an academic award winner and Randy Moss the funniest guy on the planet and 1-time Viking aggrivater, who on the Vikings was called Benjamin "Brat" Oakland shall Raid this season.
Marshall (Merced, Ca.)
Randy, Jerry, Lamont- All we need is a QB, and then a different owner!!
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
The Raiders won't win anything because their defense couldn't stop a toilet...
Derek (Auburn)
is signing art schell some kind of joke by the raiders. It's been ages since he was in the NFL
Winslow (New York)
Joey Porter Has Been Overshadowed by the presence of randy moss
Josh (Dallas TX)
The fact that the Saints would rather start an unproven Todd Bauman over him last year says it all. Brooks is past his prime.
Derek (Auburn)
aarnon brooks and randy moss could be a great team. Brooks has the arm to led one fly 50 yards and randy moss is fast enough and athletic enough to go get it.
Winslow (New York)
jerry portor just said HELL NO he didnt want T.O as a teammate
richard bernier fall river mas
Kevin If You Had To Pick From One team to play for The Yankees Or Red Sox
Nathan (Delano, MN)
Wow Hell no to Terrell Owens... Thats cool!
Michael (Westborough, MA)
Do you think your team, the Raiders, have the best wide recieving core in the NFL?
JC (Phoenix)
oakland can still get Vince Young or Jay Cutler in the draft.
The Pulse (2:25 PM)
Yeah, Jerry doesn't seem to be T.O.'s biggest fan.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
wow, the T.O. statement is pretty telling (especially since JP plays with Moss)...
Justin (forest Hill MD)
Jerry Porter is the man for publicly shunning T.O.
Kyle Brown (Monticello, IN)
You mean Jerry Porter right? Joey plays for Pittsburgh
Winslow (New York)
Jerry Porter is ripping T.O on the pulse
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
my respect level for Jerry Porter just maxed out...
Anthony (Riverview, FL)
Andrew Walter is the QB that can lead this team to the playoffs. He has great potential and it is a shame to see him sit on the sidelines. He should beat out Brooks in Training Camp. Brooks has already had his turn to show what he has, and by putting him in there to start you let other new talent start to deterioriate without giving Walter a chance. No need for the Raiders to draft Vince Young or Jay Cutler because then they'll have 2 untested QB's. Why draft a new QB when you haven't tested what you have already drafted the year before?
Michael (Westborough, MA)
The Raiders made a good descision by signing Aaron Brooks. People have forgotten the durability and throwing stregnth with him. He is a all around good QB.
Derek (Auburn)
the raiders are the football version of the NY Knicks
The Pulse (2:31 PM)
Hey, shifting gears here, the Nets and Cavs are locked in a tight NBA battle right now
The Pulse (2:32 PM)
58-51 for the Nets right now in the third.
The Pulse (2:32 PM)
Anyone have a take on the Nets' recent torrid streak, or LeBron finally making the playoffs?
Kurt Stuebs (Wichita Falls, TX)
go Nets!! Would that be 15 straight?
Noel (East Northport)
I Hate both but as a nyer i say GO CAVS!
Kevin (Landover MD)
The Wizards are a sleeper to win the East. Not the Nets
Frank (Ansonia, CT)
The Nets are definatly looking like the team to beat in the East. Miami is on cruise control, and with the way Twan likes to put up ugly shots early in the shot clock, they wouldn't stand a chance against NJ. Other than that, the rest of the East is week and the Nets will be in the finals, barring injury to one of thier big three
Marshall (Merced, Ca.)
I heard that Jay Z was thinking of signing LeBron after next season when JayZ move the Nets to Brooklyn. LeBron on the Nets, they win a title thier first year
Edju Martin (Salisbury, MA)
If LeBron wants to be the next Jordan, making the playoffs shouldn't be a goal, it should be a requirement
The Pulse (2:36 PM)
It MJ a few years to finally win a playoff series as well.
Levi (nd)
There are other sports besides the NFL? Wake me up when the Finals start..oh wait, I won't care then either.
Kyle Brown (Monticello, IN)
I still don't think Lawrence Frank is that good of a coach. Anyone with Vinsanity, RJ, and Kidd is going to seem like a great coach
Edju Martin (Salisbury, MA)
The Wizards are a sleeper to win the ABA East, maybe
Chad (Madison, OH)
It's about time Lebron got to the playoffs. Maybe now thatll be an incentive for him to stay.
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
LeBron is becoming the next MJ. He can score, rebound, and very importantly create shots for teamates. The Cavs are lucky to have a player with so much talent.
Winslow (New York)
he didnt win a championship until 91 and first came into the league in 85 so lebron has time to develop
Derek (Auburn CA)
Jordan didn't make the playoff untill pippen came. Larry hughes is no where near as good as scottie and he's been hurt all year
The Pulse (2:39 PM)
Ok, we'll check back in on that game in the fourth quarter ...
The Pulse (2:39 PM)
Now we're talking NFL draft ...
The Pulse (2:39 PM)
And I know there are some draft fans out there ...
Eddie (Tampa,Fl)
Who is going to be a better QB Matt, Vince, or Jay in the NFL.
The Pulse (2:41 PM)
I have a hunch Todd McShay will talk about the QBs next.
Chris (Fremont, CA)
Whats up with Daneglo Williams dropping so low??? The guy can PLAY!!! he is the next L.T. and should be a top 10 pick!!!
Nathan (Delano, MN)
Laurence Maroney a Minnesota Viking.. Maybe how about Matt Leinart to N.O. Saints.. Maybe!
Marshall (Merced, Ca.)
Besides Reggie Bush, Matt Leinhart is the smartest choice, a proven leader with so so talent at WR in college. A SMART QB w/ pocket presence, it helps when your college coach for four years is a former NFL coach
Brian (Sacramento, CA)
I'd say Jay has more appeal than the other two... I am still miffed with Matt anways
The Pulse (2:44 PM)
Anyone shifting their opinion on Reggie Bush? Any doubt the Texans should take him No. 1?
Ben Buchwalter (Chillicothe, Ohio)
Reggie with a 4.33 one of the best since the Joey Galloway time
abram alex (las vegas )
daneglo williams will be in a good system with the broncos at pick 22
Derek (Auburn CA)
99% of us have never seen cutler play. The average person who likes cutler is just listening to the experts say he's a good quarterback
Edju Martin (Salisbury, MA)
If I was Houston I'd give at least a bit of thought to D'Brickashaw Ferguson, unless they have proof that seeing David Carr crumpled every third play in the backfield helps the offense be effective
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Bush will go first to Houston (even though they should address their horrible O-line with Ferguson)...
Ben Buchwalter (Chillicothe, Ohio)
NO WAY. By far Bush is the best player on the board.
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
The Texans should DEFINATELY take Reggie Bush. He is one of the most athletic players I have seen in any sport. He can rack up yards returning kicks, running the ball, and catching passes out of the slot. Houston: Take Reggie #1!!!
Daniel (Houston)
Vince Young should be the focus of the Houston Texans despite some of the events that have occured. David Carr is not a good QB that has regressed rather than progressed at the point.
Brandon (Richmond Va)
If Bush dosen't go number 1 I think the world may be ending. Anyone would be crazy not to take him.
Alex (Brooklyn )
At this point, the 2006 NFL draft class is turning out to be as good as the 2005 class for the NBA draft. At this point you can have the 30th pick and still have a caliber-counter player.
Derek (Auburn CA)
Normaly i would say the texans shoud trade down and get Fergueson, but reggie bush is a once in a lifetime talent
Garrett (Longview Wa)
The Texans should take reggie bush because the texans already have a quarterback david carr he just dont have anybody to throw to
Anthony (Riverview, FL)
My sleeper pick in this years draft, Bruce Gradkowski out of Toledo. Fast QB, good arm.Raiders should draft Hawk, Williams, Ferguson, or Huff. Don't got for Cutler or Young, as we already have 3 QB's on the Depth Chart.
tom* (parkville, md)
I think the Texans would improve more by taking Ferguson, but there's no way you take him with the first pick. If the Jets or Titans decide they'll trade first picks and add a few sweeteners, then you do it.
The Pulse (2:53 PM)
All right, Dan Rafael is up next to talk Judah-Mayweather. You all want to preview the big fight or keep talking draft?
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
Draft Draft and Draft
Edju Martin (Salisbury, MA)
Fight! Fight! Fight!
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I feel a draft in here...
Kurt Stuebs (Wichita Falls, TX)
DRAFT!!
Derek (Auburn CA)
Draft!! Boxing is a boring sport
The Pulse (2:55 PM)
Ok, fair enough.
The Pulse (2:56 PM)
How about defense, which seems to be the overlooked topic in the draft.
The Pulse (2:56 PM)
Mario Williams. A.J. Hawk, Michael Huff ...
The Pulse (2:56 PM)
Who is the best bet, who is overrated?
Daniel (Houston, Tx)
I like Michael Huff the kid is an absolute gamer him and Michael Griffin in the secondary at UT had to be the best in the entire country. The kid can tackle and has excellent speed and of course he loves to HIT!
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I'm not sure Tamba Hali is "overrated", but every mock draft I've seen keeps saying his "stock" is dropping....
Winslow (New York)
A.J Hawk ran the same 40 as Vince Yound and on top of that he has great instinct and leadership and should be picked early
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
Michael Huff is a valuable and versatile player who can play cornerback or safety. I think he will go early due to his versatility.
Edju Martin (Salisbury, MA)
We've had a mixed bag with OSU LBs in New England...Vrabel's done very well, while Katzenmoyer was a bust.
Anthony (Riverview, FL)
Best Michael Huff, Most Over rated Mario Williams. He's going to have to grow a couple of inches and put on more muscle if he plans to mess with the Tackles we have in this league.
Ronny (NY)
I think the most overrated player in this draft is Vince Young because ya he ran all over USC in the Rose Bowl and that made us all excited ofr him in the draft but he cant do that in the NFL and hes nothing special when it comes to throwing.
Edju Martin (Salisbury, MA)
Anthony's analysis of Mario Williams sounds very similar to what everyone was saying about Dwight Freeney.
Nick (Westmoreland, NY)
Mario Williams is extremely over rated. He's way too small.
Mikey (West Lafayete, IN)
Too small? Mario Williams weighs almost 300 lbs. For a DE, that is huge! Yet still he turned in a respectable 40 time.
The Pulse (3:04 PM)
Ok, good stuff on the NFL draft. But it's the final hour, so let's move on ...
The Pulse (3:05 PM)
We've got Clinton Portis up next
The Pulse (3:06 PM)
Followed by Mike Conley Jr. and Mike Conley, the elder. The son is part of Ohio State's great recruiting class and the dad is a world-record holder in long jump.
The Pulse (3:07 PM)
Anyone thinking about college hoops for next season yet?
The Pulse (3:07 PM)
Greg Oden arriving ...
The Pulse (3:07 PM)
Noah, Horford and Brewer all apparently returning for Florida ...
Kyle Brown (Monticello, IN)
Greg oden is going to be he top player in CBB next season...AP Player of the year and #1 draft pick for after that...Oden will be amazing in the NBA
Winslow (New York)
no dont care for college basketball it just ended and only lets me know football season is closer
Daniel (Houston,Tx)
Well Florida will be stacked with all of their Super Sophs coming back and maybe Texas can be good if Tucker and Aldridge come back. Look for North Carolina to do big things.
tom* (parkville, md)
I don't 100% buy the return of the three Florida stars. It might happen, but as the draft gets closer, one or two may get second thoughts. It happens all the time.
Derek (Auburn CA)
because noah is coming back i bette buy a good radio to listen to florida games on. I was hoping i could watch a Floriad game on TV but i don't want to look at him
Daniel (Houston,Tx)
I am also anxious to see Kevin Durant, a two time all-american in high school I think he could be a great one heading into Texas.
Mark Cincinnati, OH
Ohio State they got a great class coming in. they are going to be great. im saying it now OSU 2007 national champs.
Joe (cleveland, Oh)
Greg Oden, Mike Conley, Daquen Cook, David Ligtly, this speaks for itself i know who the national champions are,....Go Buckeyes..
Aaron (Los Angeles)
UCLA national champs.... the best player on UCLA is coming back after missing the whole season, JOSH SHIPP
Alex (Brooklyn )
We're still talking College Basketball? I mean the next college thing is Football, and from Sept.-Jan. That's the only thing the Pulse talks about. I don't want to talk college right now.
The Pulse (3:14 PM)
Ok, fair enough. Although you've also got baseball all summer before football ...
Noel (East Northport, NY)
i saw it that was incredible it was one of the more beautiful dunks of all-time by bron bron
The Pulse (3:14 PM)
It was a heck of a dunk, we'll show you the highlight coming up.
vinny reston, va
Where is Clinton?
Noel (East Northport)
I Hate The Nets!
The Pulse (3:16 PM)
He's on right now, talking with Dari.
Kyle Brown (Monticello, IN)
Do you rember when the Raiders were in the Superbowl? Neither do they
Kevin (Baltimore, MD):
Kevin Millar - O's fans really appreciated your comments about not acting 'too cool for school' - a problem that usually distances the players from fans. Last night - 13 BBs, 2 HBPs and a WP! Why didn't you step in and throw a few strikes?
your mom (your house)
jaguars will win the superbowl!
Noel (East Northport)
Good T.O. dosnt deserve respect
Marshall (Merced, Ca.)
Dump Brooks, sign Farve, possibly the best decision ever
Josh Schulz (Port Huron, MI)
Jerry, what do you think Aaron Brooks brings to the table that Kerry Collins couldn't?
Evan (virginia)
Why are we talking about the raiders? THEY SUCK!!!
JC (Phoenix)
Oakland has a good offense but a bad defense. it depends on how the defense plays
Noel (East Northport)
Steve: T.O. As A Teamate Jerry: Hell NO!!!
Marshall (Merced, Ca.)
The Raiders will go to the playoffs with Brooks!!!..........When pigs fly
Steve Bunin (3:18 PM)
Pulsites - we got Rob Schneider coming up - he's hysterical in our chat. We're also about to talk with future Ohio State hoops megastar Mike Conley JR and his dad, Olympic Triple Jump Gold Medalist Mike Conley. Any questions for them??
Derek (Auburn CA)
Can i say something about the NFL banning TD celebrations? Last year when Chad johnson said he hit a dear in cinncinatti and was going to use it in one of his Celebrations, that was the only reason why i watched that game. I love watching bengals, panthers and T.O games because of what the do when the score a touchdown
Mark (the nati)
ask rob schneider how his movies get made. ask him how that duce biggalo 2 got made.
Alex (Brooklyn )
LET YOUR!!!!!........... Voice be heard?
Noel (East Northport, NY)
conleys are great athletes
Dan (Jersey)
T.O. is gonna be good in Dallas with paarcells but i think he'll get mad at Drew Bledsoe
Mike (Champaign, IL)
Let's see the Cubs give Jim Hendry a new deal ... and not Derek Lee. Too bad most Cubbie fans have their heads too far up the Tribune company's rear ends to realize that they don't care about their fans.
Derek (Auburn CA)
OSU has a good chance to win a national championship in football and basketball
Jeff (Mpls, MN)
Kevin Millar - story for you...Last fall we were in Scottsdale celebrating our 10 yr anniversary. I was there for a conference, then had my wife fly out for the weekend. I arranged for roses and champagne delivered to the room when we were out for dinner. Oddly, it never showed up. When checking out, we realized there was a room mixup. Some guy named Kevin Millar got our stuff!! Hope you enjoyed the roses...
Steve Bunin (3:51 PM)
We're outta here Pulsites, enjoy Rob Schneider. Dari says hi, and I say, "BIZZYE!"
