Why did Kobe change his number?
Bal (Reno NV)
He thinks himself one step ahead of Micheal Jordan, so he is adding one to the number 23.
BeeJ (San Diego, Ca)
Kobe just wants to start over his image and to regain his trust from the fans. And what better way to do so by changing his jersey number.
William (Granada Hills, CA)
I think Kobe is switching to the number 24 to get back to Number 1 again in NBA jersey sales.
Patrick (Glendale, CA)
Kobe's changing his number for the same reason he was seriously considering signing with the Clippers. It is something no one would expect him to do.
KLU (Fullerton, CA)
Because Kobe's a selfish jerk.
Scott (Washington D.C.)
I think it is obvious that Kobe was intimidated (as most Americans are) by Jack Bauer (of the TV show "24") and forced to switch
KC (Seattle, WA)
Because he is a self-absorbed, ego-maniac and he wants to one-up Jordan.
Bob (Jacksonville, AZ)
Because it will throw off the triple team defenders.
B.C. (Chicago, IL)
Maybe he's going to sign and sell all his "8" equipment and paraphernalia on ebay since they're guaranteed to be collector's items and sell for ridiculous prices. I'd do it.
Jacob (Winston-Salem, N.C.)
I don't know why he is changing his number to 24 but he should change it to 81 because No. 8 is No. 1 and because of that magical game against the Raptors.
Mik (Baton Rouge, Louisiana)
My question is why Kobe? Why would you want to change from 8 to 24, you have broken records in that number, you have hit game winners in that number. Why change a good thing?
Carlos in California
He's changing his number to 24 because he is the successor to Jordan ... Lebron will change his number to 25 because he will succeed Kobe, ect.
