Ricky's a minute early. Let's get started!

Ricky, I've enjoyed watching your fights, and wish you luck this Saturday. I was just curious if you do any weight training to prepare for fights, and if so, how much?
Ricky Hatton (2:01 PM)
I don't do a lot of heavy weight training for fights. We do weights four times per week and do a different body part every day. I've been doing it more the last four years. It's helped my punching and it's helped me for moving up for this fight.
Steve Dallas, TX
Ricky, what first inspired you to get into boxing?
Ricky Hatton (2:02 PM)
I did kickboxing before I did boxing. I've always been short in height. As I could get closer to opponents, I tried to get in for my punches. But I was getting my head kicked in and my coach said I should try to get into boxing instead. It all started from there really.
Tim (Raymore, MO)
How would you fight Mayweather?
Ricky Hatton (2:03 PM)
I wouldn't try to box him, because as far as talent and speed, he ranks superior in any weight division. I won't wait for him. I think the top priority is to put pressure on him. I've got good boxing ability too I just haven't had to show it lately in my fights.
Ricky, being a great follower of the history of the sport, any words on the passing of Floyd Patterson?
Ricky Hatton (2:04 PM)
Yeah, it's going to be a few boxing hearts broke today. I'm going to go and cement my boxing history at a time when he passes and has his history already cemented. It's a very very sad day. He was a gentleman in and out of the ring. IF you don't know who he is than you don't know boxing.
Ricky, I've got my tickets for the fight Saturday night and am looking for a good show. In regards to Collazo, how many south paws have you been up against in your 40 pro fights?
Ricky Hatton (2:06 PM)
Joe Hutchinson boxed southpaw, I went the distance with him. Stephen Smith, I knocked out in a couple of rounds. I feel I do OK against southpaws. Anyone who says that southpaws aren't tricky is a liar, really. It's not something that I'm worried about in the fight. I've been training for it.
Richard (Franklin Park, NJ)
Hitman, has moving up in weight affected your power at all, or are you as strong as ever?
Ricky Hatton (2:07 PM)
I feel stronger and faster. I've been able to use a nutritionist which has helped me. I feel stronger and have more explosive moves. If training is anything to go by, I feel ready to go.
Frank (Miami East)
What goes through your head when a guy hits you hard, hard enough you know he can hurt you?
Ricky Hatton (2:08 PM)
That's a hard one to answer. Obviously, you don't want him to hit you anymore. You've got to be quicker. You can't lunge in, you've got to get out of the way.

Ricky, If you don't get a chance with Mayweather, who else would you like to fight and receive a big payday against???
Ricky Hatton (2:10 PM)
There's so many. There's Mayweather, Castillo. There's so many possibilities. If a Mayweather fight doesn't happen, you're going to have other good fights out there to look at. I'm looking forward to all of them.
Marlo (Asheville NC)
Can you educate us on the European Boxing Governing Bodies? For example...if a situation that happen with F.Mayweather and Z.Judah in Europe how will it be dealt with?
Ricky Hatton (2:12 PM)
I think they'd been disqualified. There was a similar situation that happened with me and Stephen Smith. I hit him with a right hand and got him with an elbow by accident. His father jumped in the ring and started complaining and pushing and shoving the referree. The ref asked him to leave and he didn't so he disqualified him. Mayweather was quite lucky, I think. His corner should have left the referree to deal with it. It turned into a free for all. How the fight was able to continue, I have no idea. I don't exactly know what happened, as I wasn't there, I only saw what I saw on TV.

Ricky - Us ex-Pat Brits will be out in force on Saturday night. Good luck! We will be right behind you all the way!!
Ricky Hatton (2:13 PM)
That's nice. I won't let you down.
Sean (Charlottesville VA)
Ricky, you are the man! With your humble personality and exciting style, there is no doubt that you'll be a star here. Assuming that you win this fight, would you be willing to take a "short" payday for the opportunity to fight the Golden Boy? Imagine, a pay cut for that fight will lead to popularity beyond belief if you beat him.
Ricky Hatton (2:15 PM)
Surely you would get a bigger payday from fighting someone like De La Hoya. The bigger the name, the bigger the payday. He's the biggest name in boxing right now.
Are you worried about getting cut in this fight? Cuts have been a problem in the past, right?
Ricky Hatton (2:16 PM)
I worried about getting cut in every fight. My last fight, he had an awkward style. In my previous nine fights I've been cut. It can happen in any fight. It won't stop me. I'm no more worried than I normally am.
Rory: San Diego, CA
Ricky, if you could fight Mayweather or Margirito, who would you rather fight and for how much $$$?
Ricky Hatton (2:26 PM)
I'd like to fight Mayweather, but I would expect the money to be more for him, as he's the best pound-for-pound fighter out there. Margarito is a good boxer too. But Mayweather has a higher profile. I'd like to fight either one. By fighting great fighters, you become a great fighter.
Marlo (Asheville NC)
Can you see you and Calzaghe ever fighting on the same card...That would be a MEGA Pay day for u and Calzaghe...Hatton v. Mayweather and Calzaghe v. Tarver.
Ricky Hatton (2:26 PM)
I think that would never happen. I think the Mayweather fight could happen. And the other fight would be possible but on the same card, I don't think it would happen. I wouldn't want to be associated with his promoter in any way, really. Us fighting on the same card would never happen unless Joe left him. But I wish Joe all the best.
I believe that you are the best pound for pound fighter alive today. After you beat collazo saturday whats standing in the way of a mega fight with floyd mayweather???
Ricky Hatton (2:27 PM)
No, not really. Obviously, I have some problems outside of the ring with switching promoters and I just signed with HBO. It would be a bad move to have my first fight in this situation to fight Mayweather. That's the fight that I want, but it's about timing, really. There's somethings that I need to take care of first.
Ricky Hatton (2:27 PM)
Thanks for chatting today. Big love to all my fans. Thanks for all the support to all the people out there, especially in the Boston area. Watch the fight Saturday.
