Montiel is preparing for his fight against Jhonny Gonzalez on Saturday, as a part of the HBO Boxing After Dark series. The fight is Saturday's main event at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The two will fight in a 12-round bantamweight bout.

Montiel is 32-1-1 with 24 knockouts. He won his first title in 2000 when he was 21, four years into his pro career. He won the WBO flyweight title, which he defended three times.

Montiel, a native of Los Mochis, Mexico, enters Saturday's fight having won his last six fights, four by knockout.
