Travis (Indiana State)
It's go time!
THE PULSE (1:04 PM)
We're looking for your comments on all things sports but especially British Open, Tour de France and the baseball trade deadline. Tell us what you think about all the big stories and your comment could end up on-air!
Ted (Boston)
hey pulse a dreary rainy summer day in Boston!
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
I'm not saying Tiger is going to blow it, but you'd think after the absolutist Floyd Landis comments earlier this week, analysts would maybe tone down calling events 'over' before they end. Just a thought.
Travis (Indiana State)
Tiger looks to be returning to his dominent form and is going to turn the "Big Five" into "Tiger and the Field."
mitchel-houston
I love Tiger Woods as much as the next guy, but what a story it would be if Chris Demarco won the Open after the recent loss of his mom.
BRENT (nyc)
tour de lance has once again been won by the u.s an amazing 8 straight times it is the most impressive thing in sports no team has ever been this dominent since russells celtics
Jason (Pocatello, Idaho)
the only problem that i have with tiger woods is the unconsistancy. He either blows everyone out of the water, or drowns in the water.
Jason (Pocatello, Idaho)
I understand that the Eagles lost T.O. and now they don't have a reciever... but if i remember right, McNabb got to the Championship game before T.O. got there and he didn't have a reciever then either.
donnell (bronx,ny)
if the yankee trade a rod they will be crazy hes human every body makes mistakes give him a shot ny
Will (Dallas)
I think that Alfonso Soriano would give the Red Soxs the push they need to win a championship.
Travis (Indiana State)
A-Rod needs out of NY ASAP! It's to late for him to become a fan favorite in the countrys biggest market. Just send him back to Seattle and call it a day.
Kurt (Boston)
Soriano would cost the Red Sox Lester, and Pedroia, as well as Wily Mo Pena. They won't pull the trigger on that deal.
Travis (Indiana State)
The best part about T.O not being on the Eagles is that ESPN won't be heading up every SC between now and September with the daily T.O and McNabb updates.
Ryan Somerville (Huntington new york)
Im a redsox fan and I believe that the redsox are the best team in the east and with the way the seasons going and the standings the facts prove it. However with the trade deadline coming up I think the redsox should go for some starting pitching. David wells is on the DlWakefield is on the Dl Matt clement hasnt been the most reliable what do you think the redsox should do Ryan SomervilleHuntington Newyork
Bubba (Minnesota)
The Yankees fans dont know how lucky they are to have a-rod on theyre team.Im sure every other team would love to have him.
Travis (Indiana State)
The Giants should trade Bonds for a new batting tee. It would be a lot less distracting and unlike bonds would actually make his teammates play better.
Kurt (Boston)
That essay nearly gave me a seizure Ryan, but wha tthe yshould do is look at San Diego to pick up Scott Linebrink and Colorado for Ray King, to stabilize the bullpen. They might look at John Smoltz or greg Maddux, but if the prices are too high, Theo will look for lesser pitchers, such as Paul Byrd.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I just wake up and The Pulse is covering NASCAR next? I must be the luckiest man on the face of the Earth...you believe that, right?
THE PULSE (1:21 PM)
Mark Martin is always entertaining. Give it a chance, Wingo!
Clair (Boston)
Bonds should quit baseball and walk away into the sunset. His reputation has diminished because of the roids scandal.
mitchel-houston
Stros will take A-Rod!!!!!We'll trade Aubrey Huff for him straight up. Deal?
Clair (Boston)
As sucessful as the Red Sox have been, they still need some starting pitching... idealy from a veteran. The poblem is there are not many of them out there.
Brandon (Grand Rapids)
I hate pocono raceway its the most boring race of the year. you couldnt pay me to go to pocono.
THE PULSE (1:24 PM)
Anyone have comments about Vince Coleman, Jimmy Key or Goose Gossage! Send 'em in and you may get on-air!
Travis (Indiana State)
Maddux has not pitched well at all since he started out 5-0 yet every team says that a, "Change of scenery" will cause him to somehow turn his season around and implying that he's just not trying in Chicago. Maddux is what he is and thats an aging pitcher who has lost his fastball and gives up way to many HR's to dominate like he once could.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Looks like Mark Martin's going to need a canoe instead of a race car to get around Pocono today...
THE PULSE (1:25 PM)
The TV folks are seeing your comments on Notre Dame football! Send 'em in and be on TV!
Kurt (Boston)
Goose Gossage may have been a great closer, but it was his moustache that made him great.
Brandon (Grand Rapids)
Mark will win the Nextel Cup title and every one will be very happy about it.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
that's great...Mark Martin likes rap music. NASCAR needs more guys like him (as opposed to the rather pretentious Jeff Gordon).
Dean (LA)
being an SC fan, i hate to see notre dame doing well, but weiss has them in a great position, is already stealing the clausens of the world away, and is good for college football in general.
Ron ((Madison, WI))
Goose Gossage should be in the hall of fame. He was a great closer, and he put up pretty impressive numbers. I get to meet him on August 4th with Vida Blue so I can't wait for that!
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
hah, what that kid with his face painted like tiger that growled into the camera doesn't know is that he'll spend the better part of his life begging his mom not to show anyone that clip anymore.
Kurt (Boston)
True dat Ephraim, god I wish my name was Ephraim.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Goose Gossage is going to be on the Pulse? What, was Cy Young too busy to show up...
THE PULSE (1:34 PM)
Think he's batting a minor league game somewhere.
victor alexandria,la
notre dame will win a national championship this year. and if notre dame and u.s.c. can agree to a seven o,clock start november26th i will watch.
sam (aiken,sc)
Im sick of hearing about TO! period
Pat (Kansas City)
speakin of hall of fame...wheres the love for buck o'neil?
sam (aiken,sc)
I think its either sink or swim for notre dame football this year With the usc Dynasty broke up its either now or never for notre dame!
Steve (Oklahoma City, OK)
Under the radar story of the week: The sale of the Sonics! We don't deserve the Sonics. Leave 'em in Seattle. It's not fair to the amazing fans of that beautiful town.
Travis (Indiana State)
How about Marshall Faulk; now there's a HOF'er!
Sanju (Redlands, CA)
I hate coolege football, big teams taht are overhyped get such an advantage in taht they are in the preseason 25 and taht helps them a lot
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Seattle is a beautiful town? Where it rains all year and is so depressing that it created depressing bands like Nirvana? Denial isn't just a river in Egypt I suppose...
Travis (Indiana State)
Also glossed over by the media was the new stadium deal that the Kings will probably get. The King's owners made all their money in Vegas and were going to test David Stern and try to move the Kings to Vegas. But since they'll be getting a new stadium thats a battle David Stern will gladly be able to avoid.
Nathan (Delano, MN)
Steve, u guys dont deserve them... or u guys dont want them?
cam (columbus,ohio)
Guys, quit wasting your time talking about Notre Dame...everyone knows it's Ohio State's year. And Troy Smith will win the Heisman Trophy..GO BUCKS!!!!
Pat (Kansas City)
Kansas City wants the sonics...our shiny new sprint center opens in fall 2007
THE PULSE (1:47 PM)
Headline just crossed that Jeremy Bloom's hamstring injury is worse than thought and he will not be able to perform for the start of training camp.
mitchel-houston
Sanju- if u hate college football, then there is no hope for you as a human being.
Isaac (Norfolk)
OH and the sonics arent going anywhere. Seattle has to much pride to lose a franchise to so pidly town like oklahoma or kansas city
mitchel-houston
Speaking of the sonics, Shawn Kemp got arrested(again) down the street from my house yesterday.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Hate to break it to you guys, the Jeremy Bloom thing was in all the Philly papers this morning (says he tore his hammy twice - once at mini-camp, and once working out a few eeks later with Donnie Mac in Arizona)...the Eagles will end up putting him on the Injured Reserve and he'll probably be done for the year...
Isaac (Norfolk)
who care about a skier that hasn't played football in 2 years
Tony (LA)
Looks like ESPN/the other media providers already have the Heisman wrapped up for Brady Quinn. This is much like what they did with Reggie Bush and the "greatest team of all time" last year.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
By the way, for all the hype, Jeremy Bloom stood a very good chance of not making the Eagles this year...he is strictly a kick returner, and the Birds have good kick returners like Bruce Perry, Reno Mahe, JR Reid who also perform on the field at their respective positions too...
mitchel-houston
Tony- thats funny, USC wasn't even the greatest team of last year.
Pat (Kansas City)
Piddly town isaac? you live in virginia!! you dont even have any pro sports teams
mitchel-houston
When healthy, Bloom is the fastest white man since Tim Dwight.
Tony (LA)
For some reason they didn't show my quotes over greatest team of all time. What I mean is that much like last year, ESPN has already picked their team to win it all and their Heisman (ND and Brady Quinn). Last year, USC was the greatest team to ever play the game, and Reggie Bush was the greatest player ever to suit up according to ESPN. Vince Young should have won the Heisman last year, but didn't have ESPN on his side. This year, Quinn will win, but Peterson/Brohm/Tate/etc. will actually deserve it, they just won't get the media love from ESPN.
mark (charlotte)
Can we please talk about anything other than college football. Unless the news blotter scrolls BCS DESTROYED it really is pointless to bring up.
Pat (Kansas City)
Seattle can have their starbucks coffee and crappy uniforms...nothin beats midwest BBQ and Kansas City Chiefs football
THE PULSE (1:58 PM)
Vince Coleman coming up next! Send your comments!
Travis (Indiana State)
You know who beats KC Chiefs football? Every team in the NFL that made the playoffs last season.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
My 3 month old daughter looks absolutely fantastic in all of her Eagles gear. I can't wait until she says Dallas Sucks for the first time...
clay (morehead,ky)
I think Goose Gossage should be a hall of famer, no one with that much talent should go without being noticed as a big step ahead of the rest,
Pat (Kansas City)
Lets see we beat denver, washington, new england, and cincinnati...all of which were playoff teams last year and if it werent for the lions losing in the last week of the season we (and not the super bowl champs) would have been in
Nathan (Delano, MN)
Ok lets get back to baseball now please pulse!
Ron (NY)
I think Vince Coleman and Ricky Henderson are the most underrated players in baseball history.
David (Sartell,MN)
The twins are blazing 8 in a row. Mauer Morneau Santana and the Should be Al Cy Young Winner phenom Fransico Liriano will be a force in the playoffs
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
vince coleman...too many bad mets memories. why not just bring out brett saberhagen, mo vaughn, and roberto alomar?
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I wonder what kind of reception Brett Myers will get in Philly this afternoon, for his first start in Philly since he was arrested for beating his wife...
Nathan (Delano, MN)
Enough with golf... its not even a sport its a hobby!!!
David (Sartell,MN)
It is to a sport just cause you suck doesn't mean you have take away from the greatest game in the world
victor alexandria,la
golf is a sport and dont you forget it.
Nathan (Delano, MN)
I love to play golf and all other sports! its just so boring to watch!
David (Sartell,MN)
right so it's boring to Watch Tiger Woods hole a 4 iron form 205 yards out
Sean (Plymouth, MI)
Golf is a sport, and a fun sport, but it was not made for TV.
Adrian (Chicago)
I can't understand wwhy St. louis doesn't have a basketball team. It's a great city with a large fan base, they have many supporters for the Cardinals, Rams, and Blues
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Thank God Kamerion Wembley signed...maybe some of these other 1st round NFL picks will get contracts done now (stop holding out Broderick Bunkley!!)
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Alright, I gotta beat feet Pulse...gotta get the food shopping done so I can get done in time to watch people throw stuff at Brett Myers...
THE PULSE (2:41 PM)
We're a little over halfway through the show. How's eveyone holding up? Still plenty of good stuff to come.
Travis (Indiana State)
Just waiting for all the golf and cycling talk to end...
7th Grader (northwest)
man $33 million over 6 years for wimbley.maybe i should be a first round pick
Robert (Purdue)
just make sure you report all of your earnings, tax evasion can be tough
Travis (Indiana State)
I always wanted to see John Starks and Reggie Miller step into the ring.
Conor (Santa Cruz, CA)
I always wanted to see Spike Lee and Reggie step in the ring
Conor (Santa Cruz, CA)
Did anyone see Charles Barkley's golf swing? Wow. It was U-G-L-Y!
Eric Manhattan Kansas
Has the media forgotten it's the Professional Golf Association, not the Tiger Woods Golf Association?
Conor (Santa Cruz, CA)
Tell that to the Ratings Tiger gets
7th Grader (northwest)
i think since tiger woods has been in somewhat of a slump lately.the media is excited that he's doing good again.
Bob (Sparta,NC)
More golf?? The NFL season cannot get here fast enough............
CHASE (new baden IL)
GO CHIEFS!!!!
THE PULSE (3:34 PM)
Sorry about the delay. Had some technical problems. We're in the final half hour of the show. Keep sending your comments!
7th Grader (northwest)
whoa as i was typing this another bengals player got thrown in jail and suspended.
chris (indy)
Antwan Randall El will find out how to lobby in the Nations Capital when he grows tired of losing w/the Pigs
DeMarcus (NYC)
Did anyone see the Air Up There's 720 Dunk
Rich (Salt Lake City, UT)
I can't believe Bonds is coming back for another year. Why? He can barely even walk to first base anymore. The answer? Simply he wants to break the all time home run record. Word to the wise Bonds? Save everyone the trouble of trying to sort out whether the record counts or not and just retire.
THE PULSE (3:43 PM)
Mark Redman on The Pulse!
Erin (Villa Hills, KY)
42 days until Brady Quinn's final phase of global domination begins. Excellent.
Brian (New York)
Mark Redman could be a good pickup for the Mets
Brian (New York)
i went to the blue and gold game for ND and the Backup looked better than Quinn even though Quinn will win Hiesman this year.
THE PULSE (3:48 PM)
We're about to re-air the Mark Martin interview to close out the show. If you missed it the first time, it's worth sticking around for! Thanks to everyone for chatting! We'll be back next week, same place, same time! Take care!
