7th Grader (Seattle DAWG!!!)
let's get this show on the road!
THE PULSE (1:03 PM)
We're on the air! Tune in to ESPNEWS immediately! Now! Right now! Faster!
AP$ (Iowa)
I am back after a breif vacation. Lets get this going
victor alexandria,la
go usa .the 111 to 100 win helps.
Travis (Indiana State)
I think team USA should not have cut Bowen. He is one of the top defenders on the planet and the US will soon see their error of their ways.
7th Grader (Seattle DAWG!!!)
i think Oklahoma will finish between 13th and 17th in the AP and Coaches Poll when regular season ends.
Chris (New York)
I think that the US could win the gold medal this year
JC (Arizona)
I can't belive FOX in Phoenix ain't showing the Yankee game here
Brandon (GA)
The Oklahoma Sooners all but lost when their QB got benched
salman (oklahoma)
I think oklahoma will do fine without Rhett he was a distraction anyway plus they have rufus alexander.
AP$ (Iowa)
Oklahoma is in the 15-18 range, they play in a pretty weak confrence too
Steve Bunin (1:11 PM)
Travis - you're not the guy from SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?, are you? Anyway, I think Bowen will be missed, too. Not just on D, but 3pt-wise ... if we get down 7 points, we really don't have a guy who can knock down back-to-back 3's - a Redd, a Ray Allen, a Rashard Lewis, a Fred Hoiberg. That could be trouble against the top-5 teams. We only beat PR by 11, and they're barely a top-10 team in this competition.
JC (Arizona)
If the Yankees win today, the Yankees win the AL East
7th Grader (Seattle DAWG!!!)
i think Team USA is very good definetely not as good as the Dream Team but i think if you can come close to how good they were you're good enough to win the world Championships.
JC (Arizona)
I think the USA will win it, but teams like Argentina and Lithuania will challenge us...
AP$ (Iowa)
JC, thats like saying if TO plays this week then TO will play this whole season...
Travis (Indiana State)
If the Yankees lose today, the Yankees win the AL East
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
I think the only thing Johnny D has left to do is burndown Fenway on his way out of town.
Patrick (Detroit)
TO is going to be traded or realesed by the Cowboys by week 6.
David (Houston, Tx)
The Sooners will shock the nation...Stoops will rally the troops!
7th Grader (Seattle DAWG!!!)
i have a confession i'm not from seattle i'm from just outside seattle.
AP$ (Iowa)
David, are you a poet?
Anthony (Temecula, CA)
Eli will be making headlines for weeks if he pulls the win over his brother in week 1.
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
Plus, Eli needs to grow the beard again. It tones down the natural 'aww shucks' look he has.
Rishard (Orland Park, IL)
DA BEARS!!!!!!!
Buster (Maryland)
Eli is nowhere near the level of Peyton, and the Giants are nowhere near the level of the Colts
Brian (Omaha, NE)
The Giants will make it further in the playoffs this year than the Colts!
Bob (Sparta,NC)
I have never seen sooo much hype over NFL pre-season games. They're a very bad barometer of how a team will perform during the regular season.
Overrated in Orland Park (Orland Park, IL)
Da Bears will win the Superbowl
Sam (Indianapolis)
The NFL should cut preseason and have a 20 game regular season
Brandon (GA)
Eagles fan till I die
mike ((Alexandria,VA))
Eli is not even the best QB in the division and he really needs to improve down the stretch, and plus he choked in the playoffs. The giants wont win the division because the NFC East is the toughest division and the giants need to improve. (Go Skins)
salman (oklahoma)
Go Packers we have the best D in the league.
AP$ (Iowa)
What fan will be of then when you die Brandon?
Travis (Indiana State)
The only people that love the preseason are the NFL owners. You can't blame them though; no matter how much people complain the games still sell out and the owners make tons of money off of them.
Joe Joe Boston
Seau it aint so....shortest retirement in history?
Patrick ((Englewood, OH))
The Yanks/Sox are far over blown, Not Even Close to the best rivalry in sports. That would be Ohio State/Michigan Football, or Duke/NC Basketball. My Vote Ohio State/Michigan Football.
Brandon (GA)
lol ill still be a eagle fan
Steve Bunin (1:31 PM)
agreed, Patrick -- What about Auburn/Alabama, too?
Adam (Hendersonville, Tn)
We(the usa) are big on ball movement this yr under Coach K, who will be a bigger passer on the Dream Team, Kirk Hinrich or Chria Paul?
7th Grader (Just Outside Seattle DAWG!)
Seahawks play the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl.
Jack (VA Beach)
Buckeyes dominate the big ten and the country on their way to another national championship!
Kyle (MN)
Ohio State won't even finish in the top 5.
Riley (Winston-Salem)
Notre Dame is going to win the championship this year over west viriginia who rides their two amazing sophomores to the title game
7th Grader (Just Outside Seattle DAWG!)
Ohio State and Auburn two most overrated teams in the country.
Ed (Rocky Mount, NC)
I have been a Manning fan since the days of Archie at Ole Miss, and to draw comparisons between Eli and Peyton is unfair. I still think Archie is the "best" Manning. Hotty Toddy!!!
Andrew (Kings Park, NY)
U got say Notre Dame has a shot of winning the championship.
John (Detriot)
So OSU will be in top 5.
Andrew (Texas)
With the strength of the NFC East, Eli has a chance to become one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He has to play the amazing defenses of the Redskins and Cowboys, not to mention the very strong defense of the Eagles. That being said, the Giants are the most likely canidate to finish last in the toughest division in pro football, because Eli isn't experienced enough yet, and he chokes in big games. Two years from now, The Giants will win the superbowl though.
Brandon (GA)
Riley- West Virginia will win the National Championship this year against Notre Dame-but it will be close
Steve (Dallas)
Pulse, get me out of Texas! It's too hot!
7th Grader (Just Outside Seattle DAWG!)
West Virginia has been growing on me for months now.it's been a while since we've seen a team use teamwork to win games.
sampson norman ok
hey AP$ do you happen to even know what conference that oklahoma plays in .... it happens to be a national powerhouse conf , 2 national titles in 5 yrs what has the big east, sec, acc , lmao almost forgot big ten well they havent done anything either GO BIG RED
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Team USA hoops...it's almost as exciting as root canal...
Adam (Hendersonville, TN)
Team USA looked really nice in every friendly but, in their first preliminary match against PR they looked a little less intense. Can they bounce back and still win the Gold?
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I'm back from my sabbatical, and I can now say with all certainty, that not only is Jigga and Biggie lame, but KRS One is the true high priest of Old School Rap...
Steve Bunin (1:42 PM)
Wingo - welcome back. Ephraim just got on the tube with a comment. YOu can, too ... although probably not with the rap review. NOT that we don't love that. We had a huge blog about that 2 weeks ago, as you apparently know. It was off the chain.
Joe L. (North Babylon, NY)
This years Team USA looks a lot better than the previous one that disappointed and somewhat embarrassed us. They have a better chance of getting Gold but we'll have to see how the rest of the preliminary round goes.
Jason (Dallas)
The US basketball "redeam team" looked bad this morning. PR is not a even a medal team yet, if they had a few more shots to go down, they could have beaten our team. Trouble is ahead for sure.
chris (Az)
Holyfield looked quick last night . He may be older but he still can throw the combo's and has retained some power .With the recent deline in true heavy weight fighters only helps him out .
Travis (Indiana State)
Evander was in a lose lose situation no matter what. A quick KO makes his opponent like bad but if he would have went the distance and won by decision then everyone would have said that Evander should have won by KO in an eariler round.
pilight (macon ga)
I'm sure Evander Holyfield can win one of the 28 heavyweight title belts. Who's he got to beat? Maskaev? lol
Roger (DC)
Evander looked in shape in the fight with crisp punches and a few good hooks. He will travel far in his quest, but will fall just short of the title.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Yankees designate pitcher Sidney Ponson for assignment...and the assignment is Celebrity Fit Club V...
Johnstone (Bucktown)
The heavyweight division is absolutely awful.....
Travis (Indiana State)
Anyone heard Evander talk, well mumble, lately. It's getting very sad.
Neville (Mount Vernon)
Holyfield just saw the trailer for Rocky Balboa, and figures "If he can do it again, so can I."
THE PULSE (1:55 PM)
Fran Fraschilla is coming up next on the show to talk Team USA hoops! Keep your questions and comments coming!
Bryan (Lubbock, Texas)
Colangelo did a great job of assembling a team w/ what looks like great chemistry and got a great head coach, and people always argue that officials do not affect the game alot but these international officials are by far the worst in history. America should play exhibition games w/ international refs or high school refs to get used to the uneven calls that they will receive
THE PULSE (2:02 PM)
First hour down! Two hours to go!
salman (oklahoma)
Let's go baby.
Elliott, NY NY
Why did it take so long for sports reporters to realize that the National League is just about a good AAA League> I've seen that for a while... I remember when NL players were traded to the AL and were tremendous acquisitions. Now it seems that any AL player on his way "down" goes to the NL and prospers... that includes pitchers...
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Hey look, another Yankees update...someone pinch me...
Bob (Sparta,NC)
Two hours to go? More football(preferably Pro) and less of everything else.........
Ephraim R. (Maple Shade, NJ)
I just the whole nature of the American game does not lend well to international play. We don't have federal sports acadamies, etc. The downside is that it's tougher for our guys to play together. The bright side is we don't have homogenious players with all the same strengths and weaknesses in their training, making for a more interesting game.
chad (cal)
whose the most overrated player i the nfl?
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
I wonder how bad the chairs smell after the World Series of Poker are finished...
kyle (Los Angeles, Ca.)
they have a great team but the lack of outside shooting and teams playing zone D will hurt them just like last time
Vance (DC)
USA needs Bruce Bowen defensive presence
salman(oklahoma)
Fran,Is the USA finsihed defensively now that they lost Bruce Bowen the best defender on the team?
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
yeah, Trey Wingo...
Adam (Hendersonville, Tn)
Options, Interior Defence and threes are important factors of a gold medal team.
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Trey Wingo is the most important sports persona since Grantland Rice...
Gator Fan (Orlando)
I must admit, Ohio State is the most powerful team in the country. Sorry ND and WV. Plus, Ohio State ate ND for lunch last year lol!
Patrick (Englewood, OH)
As long as the Seahawks have Shaun Alexander, they have a chance to repeat.
Bob (Sparta,NC)
Most overrated player in the NFL? Mike Vick by far............
Wingo (Deptford, NJ)
Doesn't every professional sport need a counter-culture fat guy? NASCAR has Tony Stewart, the PGA has Mickelson and Daly, MLB has Bob Wickman...it's like a marketing phenomena
Nick (St. Johns, MI)
The Seahawks WILL lose in the NFC Divisional Round this year to the Cowboys
Goose (Chicago)
Brett Favre has become the most overrated.
Salman (oklahoma)
No, terrell owens is the most overrated player.
7th Grader (Seattle DAWG!!!)
i think the most overrated player in the NFL is Hines Ward.
Cory (Garden City,Ks)
I know, Mike Vick, he's only won. How overrated.
Neville (Mount Vernon)
What about Peyton Manning? He obviously shows stats can only carry you so far.
Brian (Beacon, NY)
Owens is NOT overrated. On the field, he's absolutely incredible. Now off the field ... he's the biggest pain there can be.
Doug (Columbus,Ohio)
Most Overrated has got to be Norv Turner, how does this guy keep a job.
Sunny (Bartlett, IL)
A healthy Bears team could be one of the scariest teams to face in the NFL. The defense is amazing and deep and the special teams worked out its kinks. People are saying Grossman isn't getting the job done, but if he probably wont be asked to do more than manage a game and let the running game take charge.
victor alexandria,la
Dawn ever since i saw you play in thencaa tournament i had never quit watching women,s basketball the sport is good and i thank you for what you didfor the game
Patrick (Englewood, OH)
WHY does Norv Turner keep a job? Two words - Troy Aikman. Every team that hires Norv, wants him to produce another Aikman.
Travis (Indiana State)
The Saints are making a mistake by having Reggie Bush return punts. Bush should be used like Faulk was; an explosive back who will get around 15 carries a game and is able to catch pasees out of the backfield and can line up as a slot receiver.
Doug (Columbus,Ohio)
Reggie Bush makes me want to watch the Saints play, I can't wait for Monday night football and Madden the next day so I can play as Reggie, he is amazing.
Nick (St. Johns, MI)
Why not have him return punts?... Everyone saw what he did at USC....in two years he will be the best return man in the game while still being an elite back
Sunny (Bartlett, IL)
If I'm the saints I have Reggie Bush touch the ball as many times as possible. I'd have him be a running back, receiver, and a punt returner. He's a playmaker, and playmakers need the ball.
Doug (Columbus,Ohio)
with them paying they guy 35 million Guaranteed, if they want him to hold a clipboard while grabbing that big dog some more milk-bones, while fielding punts, he better do it.
mike (VA)
Then he will turn into another Gale Sayers
Salman (oklahoma)
Reggie will be a really good fantasy player.
jordan (Columbus)
Hey doug i'm from columbus too, only i like michigan instead of suckeyes, oops did i say that
jordan (Columbus)
The saints wasted a drafted getting reggie bush. they already had an explosive backfield with deuce mcallister. They need a qb and drew brees is not that qb. matt leinart should be that qb
salman(oklahoma)
Jason,Isn't Larry Johnson a little overrated in fantasy I mean he hasn't even gone into a season starter yet(besides this year)?
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
Bush should not reutrn punts because it adds a bigger risk of injury and also if he returns punts, lines up in the slot, and carries the ball out of the backfield fatigue will play in down the stretch and that will add an even BIGGER risk of injury, and you do not want to injure a player with Bush's potential.
Patrick (Englewood, OH)
Once again, I must say THE BEST ESPNews Anchor team STEVE and DARI, it's time to promote them to SportsCenter!!
Steve Bunin (2:32 PM)
Ha -- Thanks Patrick. You are a wise, wise man. But the truth is, as much as we love SportsCenter, both Dari and I love NEWS, too. The hard-core sports fan is here more often, don't you think? Plus, here, we get to interview Stoops, Ripken, guys like that. Doesn't happen as often on S/C. We looooooooooove the Pulse.
Travis (Indiana State)
If I'm the Saints I would sit Bush until the regular season. Players like him are to great to risk being injured in a meaningless preseason game.
THE PULSE (2:37 PM)
Jason Langendorf of Scouts, Inc. is coming up next to talk Fantasy Football .. get your questions in now !
mike (VA)
Coboys are overrated they have to many holes on the O-line
Dieter (Gig Harbor, WA)
I hope the Seahawks are healthy entering the regular season. Its unreal having the top 5 D-Lineman out, and two O-lineman while trying to replace Steve Hutchinson. Stevens is out 6 weeks. It could be a tough first half. Hopefully Burleson steps up like Jurevicius did last year.
THE PULSE (2:59 PM)
Second hour down. One hour left! We still have Cal Ripken stopping by as well as college football analyst Todd McShay and baseball reporter Tim Kurkjian!
Estaban Loiaza (MA)
Am I the only one that thinks a-rod is using way too much of his purple lipstick today?
Patrick (Englewood, OH)
I must give props to coach Stoops for getting Bomar off the team. It was the right thing to do, most coaches would not have the guts to sack such an important player.
Ryan (Racine,Wi)
I want to know why everytime T.O. forgets to put the lid down on his toilet we have to get 15 hours of coverage on it
Bobby (Florida)
Most overrated team? Dallas....
Jimmy Cahill of Watervliet,Michigan
Hey Bob is this going to be your toughest year with what has happen with your team in the offseason?
seahawks Baby! (206)
we will get back to SB and crush whoever joins us. remeber that.
Goose (Chicago)
How long of a leash does Rex Grossman have in Chicago?
kevin (okc)
how much longer till stoops?
THE PULSE (3:11 PM)
Very soon!
Travis (Indiana State)
I wish my summer employer payed as and allowed as much free time as Rhett Bomar's did.
Patrick (Englewood, OH)
I made the show two weeks in a row!! AWESOME!!
David Jones, Warsaw, Indiana
As a long time OU fan, I want to say thank you to Bob Stoops for showing great class. OU Football will go gone and be better for his display of integrity.
James (Orlando)
Just when Bonds is finally out of the daily headlines, now I have to suffer thru the media's facination with TO all over again.
Ryan Gessner (Racine, Wisconsin)
Cal Ripken was my idol growing up. He was the reason i picked up a bat
Travis (Indiana State)
If Big Mac ever got into the Hall I can see his HOF speech now: "I am not here to focus on the past. It's all behind I just want to be positive and focus on the future. Thank you and goodbye."
David Steinle (Russell, Kan.)
Why is everyone so high on Reggie Bush? The man has not played ONE DOWN of professional football in a game that means something! He will soon find out that the defenses of the Bucs and Panthers are far different than facing Cal and Oregon. Bush will learn that the NFL doesn't have Washington, Arizona and Stanford to give him a breather--he will get pounded and pounded for 16 games.
mason
i never make the show . thanks
Steve Bunin (3:38 PM)
Mason - don't doubt the Pulse. But you gotta come WID it, man!
Gabriel (Oakland,CA)
I think the Raiders made a huge misake in signing and making Aaron Brooks their starting QB. I am twelve and I started watching Saint's games when I was about 9 or 10. From my point of view and watching him play, he should be, if he's lucky, a third stringer.
Steve Bunin (3:38 PM)
You know what's scary, Gabriel? How Shell already seems fed up w/Moss and his hystrionics...
THE PULSE (3:44 PM)
College football analyst Todd McShay is coming up next for the final segment of the show! Get your questions in!
kevin (okc)
tell dari i said thsanks for asking about the o line we need those guys to play like champions this year.
Steve Bunin (3:47 PM)
Will do, Kev. thnx for pulsing.
victor alexandria,la
todd who do you see winning the national championship?and who do you think will represent the sugar bowl?
andrew (nunya, beeswax)
go eli manning
Joe Fred (Kansas City)
Expect Larry Johnson to not live up to the hype. The o-line that propelled him and Priest Holmes into familiarity has disentegrated; Larry's never proven himself over a year; and the Chiefs will likely be playing from behind a lot more this year, hence, less run, more pass. Larry Johnson as #1 Fantasy pick? Not even close.
mike D (Oregon)
85% saying Team USA will win Gold? That's odd, all things considered.
victor alexandria,la
hey steve also ask todd does lsu have enough depth to be anational contender.
Ryan Gessner (Racine,Wisconsin)
Where do you see West Virgina ending up?
