Chris (Orlando)
Can Gore keep it up? Or trade now while he is somewhat hot? (worried about San Fran blowing up and being........... San Fran)
Scott Engel (11:00 AM)
Good morning everyone! I wouldn't create worries where there are none. Gore is clearly a good RB who makes th eNiners offense a bit better by himself. He won't get dragged down by his teammates, who can only slowly improve
Kelly (Iowa)
I think 90% of fantasy owners are staring at a bunch of mediocre receivers to fill out their starting lineups. I'm among them. Pick two for this week: Keyshawn, Burleson, M. Robinson, McCardell.
Scott Engel (11:02 AM)
I like Keyshawn to post good numbers,a nd Burleson to a be a big factor against a bad Arizona pass D
Todd (Fargo)
Is KoRo really going to play on Suunday? If so what's his value at?
Scott Engel (11:03 AM)
He is listed as questionable,a nd even if he plays, I wouldn't use him for a few weeks until he gets comfortable with the team - if he gets that chance and isn't suspended
Chris (Detroit)
Would you start Mcgahee and Evans this week. My alternative is starting Drew Benett or Matt Jones or Tatum Bell or Maroney at Running back?
Scott Engel (11:04 AM)
I wouldn't lean too much on the Bills at Miami. I'd replace Evans with Matt Jones
Willie (Pittsburgh)
K Jones against tough Chi D or T Bell and limited touches? Thanks.
Scott Engel (11:05 AM)
Bell should have a good day against a Chiefs D that will be on the field too much - I wouldn't call 15-plus touches "limited".
Bobby(pa)
Who do like the best for a 2nd RB this week? Maroney, Mike Bell or Wali Lundy?
Scott Engel (11:06 AM)
Maroney for sure - he's a future star and could rip off some long runs and really trample the Jets this week
Jamie (Philly)
Is either Northcutt or Fason a worhtwhile pickup in a deep, 16 team league?
Scott Engel (11:07 AM)
Neither one will produce much - even ina league of that size, I don't like Northcutt.
Cody (SoCal)
HELP, SCOTT!!! I'm leaning towards benching Randy Moss (at BALT) in favor of Antonio Bryant (vs. STL). Would you do this?
Scott Engel (11:09 AM)
Moss could get loose for TD this week, and I'm still not sold on Bryant yet.
Rob (NJ)
Roy Williams or Terry Glenn? Kevin Jones or D.Rhodes? I dona??t want to start two Lions vs that Chicago D
Scott Engel (11:10 AM)
I'd keep some faith in Williams, and Rhodes could post some better numbers than Jones, but not by much
Keith (CT)
Start Plummer or Bledsoe? Colston or Witten? Or plug Colston at WR in place of Welker?
Scott Engel (11:11 AM)
I like Plummer to rebound with a very good game this week. I'd use Witten over Colston, who I would use over Welker, who shouldn't be on your roster
Mark D (RI)
What is your feeling with Gado going to Houston? Will he be the featured back and be as good as he was last year with GB?
Scott Engel (11:12 AM)
Lundy is a smallish guy who isn't elsuive enough and Gado should quickly take the job. He won't be consistent, but he will sometimes post very good totals.
Jason (St. Louis)
Will Rivers be unleashed this weekend?
Scott Engel (11:14 AM)
I don't think he will ever be "unleashed" as the Chargers don't want to overwork him and simply want him to manage the game well. Buthe should throw Two TD passes
David (MD)
WIll Cadillac Williams play? If not my who should I start -- back up is Barlow (vs Pats) or I can start another WR (Troy Williamson vs Carolina)?
Scott Engel (11:15 AM)
Williams is uncertain, and I'd go with Barlow, who might start against the Patriots
Scott (Ottawa, Canada)
Hey Scott! Am I crazy to be thinking about starting McNair over Carson this week? I just can't get past how bad the Raiders looked last week! Thanks..
Scott Engel (11:16 AM)
I would never bench Carson Plamer, regardless of McNair's matchup. The ravens could easily dominate with defense and RBs, leaving McNair not having to pass often enough to post better numbers.
Alex (Miami)
Tatum Bell or Chester Taylor this week?
Scott Engel (11:17 AM)
I'd go with Taylor - he'll get more touches and the Panthers will be without MLB Dan Morgan
Mike (Chicago, IL)
As a Westbrook owner, is it better to handcuff Westbrook with Buckhalter or have Gado. If only I had another bench spot...
Scott Engel (11:19 AM)
I think Buckhalter isn't a certain handcuff, as Ryan Moats could also get a lot of touches if Westbrook goes down - I'd get Gado
Zach (Vail, CO)
Who do you think between Muroney and Ahman as a 3rd back?
Scott Engel (11:19 AM)
As much as I like Maroney, Green gets more touches for now and I'd still pick him. That should change soon, though
Adam (CA)
Should I start Curtis or Watson at the flex position?
Scott Engel (11:21 AM)
Watson for sure - he is Brady's best target, and Curtis isn't reliable
Keith Phoenix
Fred Taylor vs Pittsburgh or LaMont Jordan vs Baltimore? Both are against good D's. I in a real bind here. Thanks!
Scott Engel (11:22 AM)
I'd keep some faith in Jordan to at least score, and he could outperform Taylor by a few fantasy points - I see the Raiders scoring at least once, via Jordan or moss. They might lose 31-7, but someone will score.
Christopher (Lowell, MA)
Should I drop Lundy for Norwood, Gado, or Barlow?
Scott Engel (11:23 AM)
I'd get Barlow and Gado if I could,a nd drop two players, preferably a backup TE, k or D. If you ahve to get one, it's very close between Barlow and Gado, but Gado has more upside
Corey (Syracuse NY)
Scott, Addai this week with a favorable matchup and sharing touches, or does Droughns produce this week?
Scott Engel (11:24 AM)
Addai hasn't done anything yet to start him over Droughns, who should bounce back against an always shaky Cincy run D
Drew (Tampa, FL)
Is Pittman worth picking up? I would need to drop either Michael Clayton, Colston or T. Williamson?
Scott Engel (11:25 AM)
Cadillac is concerning me again with his health, so I would get Pittman and drop Colston
Steve (NJ)
you are clueless! Norwood is better than Lundy, Barlow, and Gado, and shaky Cincy D against the Browns??? How do u get this job?
Scott Engel (11:29 AM)
Norwood doesn't get enough touches, and Cincy gives up a lot of yardage even though they caue turnovers. Norwood has great upside, but he still has Dunn there. This is not about pure talent. This is about touches and best statistical production. Norwood will get 10 touches, while Barlow and Gado will carry more often and geta lot more goal-line chances. Thanks for the compliments :)
Chris (Boston)
Scott, Who would you start this week, Jake Plummer vs. KC or Jake Delhomme vs. Minn without Steve Smith? Thanks.
Scott Engel (11:30 AM)
Plummer will throw at leats two TDs against the Chiefs. Denver will dominate and Plummer will rebound
Doug (Willowick, OH)
The 2000 election? Gore or Bush? Who would you vote for today?
Scott Engel (11:31 AM)
I vote Bush! I think he could rip off some long runs against GB and should score
Tom (New York)
Culpepper against a tougher Buffalo D or Brees against the Packers this week?
Scott Engel (11:32 AM)
I don't think the Buffalo D is that tough. Sorry, Nick Bakay :) I like Culpepper to bounce back with at least two TDs at home
Ramon (NY)
Flex Questions: Norwood or Jacobs? Reggie Williams or Burleson?
Scott Engel (11:33 AM)
Norwood should see more action than Jacobs,a nd I like Burleson's speed against the Cards
Alex (Orlando)
Delhome or Leftwich for this week?
Scott Engel (11:34 AM)
I think Delhomme should throw more than one TD pass this week, while Leftwich will really struggle to find open receivers
Lance (NM)
When will Doug Gabriel be worth picking up? Also should I drop Porter for Givens or Booker?
Scott Engel (11:35 AM)
I think Gabreil simply has to become the best WR on Ne soon. Yes, add him. I'd drop Porter for the adequate Booker
josh (new york)
plaxico or andre johnson this week? culpepper or warner this week?
Scott Engel (11:36 AM)
Johnson to have a big game as the Texans throw often, and Warner to throw two TDs and beat Culppeper in yardage
Nick (SF)
Morning Scott, I can start 2 RB's & 2 WR's or 1 RB and 3 WR's. My starting RB is S.Jackson, my other RB would be either K.Jones or B.Jacobs. Or I could play all 3 of these WR's Housh, Fitz, and Stallworth with Jackson. Which combo would be best? Thanks
Scott Engel (11:38 AM)
Jacobs doesn't carry often enough to start over Jones - I'd start Jackson, KJ, Fitz and Stallworth
H.P. (MI)
Hey Scott! Do you see Lendale White and Marcedes Lewis making significant contributions this year? Thanks.
Scott Engel (11:40 AM)
White could eventually get some goal-line work, but Lewis has missed too much time due to injury and I don't expect much overall
derrick (NJ)
frank gore or wille parker to start this week? thanks in advance.
Scott Engel (11:41 AM)
I like Gore, but I don't think he has earned a start over Parker yet.
Kyle (Salem, MA)
Hi Scott, J. Lewis or K. jones?
Scott Engel (11:42 AM)
Lewis faces the Raiders - that's all you need to know!
Mike (Albany, NY)
Scott, Cockcroft or Karabell this week?
Scott Engel (11:43 AM)
That's too close to call - Karabell is a workhorse and Cockcroft has all those nifty moves.
Matt (NJ)
Pick 2: LT; Reggie Bush or J. Lewis????
Scott Engel (11:44 AM)
I'll go with Bush - I think both will score and Bush will certainly have more yardage.
Ed, J'ville
Am I crazy to think Favre will have a big week, just like the Pack did last year against NO?
Scott Engel (11:45 AM)
They aren';t quite the same as they were last year - the GB line is worse and the Saints D is a bit improved. Favre should be good for two TDs and two INTs - not bad, not great
Jay (Philadelphia)
Why do you guys overrate all of the NYG players? I know you all work in Bristol, but you can't possibly all be Giants and Patriots fans!
Scott Engel (11:47 AM)
I have no idea what you are talking about - I'm a Seahawks fan, and never let my heart interfere with fantasy evaluations. Barber deserves all the credit he gets and Eli is only a fine start depending on the matchup. Why do you want us to down all the Ginats because you are from Philly? :)
Matt (Boston)
Hey Scott, How do you feel about having 4 out of the 9 players on your starting roster playing the same game? I have Westbrook, McNabb, Plaxico, and Tiki playing in the same game and I'm toying with putting Stallworth in there but I feel that is too many eggs in one basket. Thoughts?
Scott Engel (11:50 AM)
It doesn't matter if guys are playing in the same game - both teams could post good fantasy numbers. Benching or activating players in the same game won't affect th eoutcomes. But leaning too much on any one team is risky. I'm not as high on Stallworth as others, and I'd keep Plaxico in there
Jay (Philadelphia)
I'm in leagues where people can't give Tiki away...but I only play in keeper leagues, so Tiki and Dunn and pretty well worthless if you plan to compete in the future.
Scott Engel (11:51 AM)
If people don't want to take Tiki, that';s your gain. He can help you win THIS year.
barry (new york)
how does mcnair over warner sound this week?
Scott Engel (11:51 AM)
I'd stick with Warner - his WRs will give the Seattle CBs a lot to handle
Dave (In da 207)
Bench Cadillac and play Bush & Gore?
Scott Engel (11:52 AM)
Considering Bush and Gore have no health issues, that's a good pair to start
Fred (Down By the River)
Hey Scott - In a franchise keeper league - I have a real chance at winning this year. Would you drop a seasoned vet that can help now (Driver or Mason) for someone that appears to be breaking out (Stallworth)? My normal starters are Chambers and DJax. Thanks, sir.
Scott Engel (11:54 AM)
Stallworth had a big week againsta bad D - I think he is overrated right now - I think you are fine at WR, but if you can drop a player from another position I'd get Stallworth for when he has easy matchups or to possibly dela him at some point
Daniel (Houston)
Will Larry Allen being hurt effect Gore a lot this week? Don't you think St. Louis will stack the line and make Smith beat them through the air?
Scott Engel (11:55 AM)
I think Gore is tough and can post decent numbers even if he faces extra defenders. I wouldn't worry about him much yet
Rich (Richmond)
I'll bet if Stallworth wore a Giants jersey or was Tom Coughlin's son-in-law, that you'd feel different about him!
Scott Engel (11:57 AM)
Wrong you are - I'm not any more of a Ginats guy than an Eagles guy. Stallwoth had a cake matchup last week and still has to prove he isn't Mr. Inconsistency, especiallya s a No. 1 WR.
Erik (Boston, MA)
Would you pick up Doug Gabriel for Michael Clayton or David Givens?
Scott Engel (11:58 AM)
I wouldn't do that, but I'd cut a backup TE, K or D ot get Gabriel.
Michelle (Brooklyn)
Am I crazy to bench Dillon for T Bell?? Colts or Chargers D/ST??
Scott Engel (11:59 AM)
Not crazy at all - go for Bell! Both Ds will perform well, but I think SD will aloow less points. Good luck to you this week.
Tom (NYC)
Someone in my league dropped Corey Dillon. Should I drop Mike Bell or Benson for him?
Scott Engel (12:00 PM)
That's an early panic move - I'd drop benson and would get Dillon if you have to cut one. I'd prefer to keep both of those RBs and get Dillon. Thanks for a fun time everyone - good luck to you all and see you on Sunday morning!
