Pfister is the first American to win the title in 24 years. A firefighter from Charleston, W. Va., Pfister won the 10-day competition in Sanya, China.
The last American to win the competition before the 6-foot-6, 325-pound Pfister was Wisconsin native Bill Kazmaier. He won the title from 1980 to 1982.
