Lalas joined the Galaxy front office April 17, 2006, after playing for Los Angeles for three years (2001-03) during his career. After retiring with the Galaxy in 2003, Lalas was hired by the San Jose Earthquakes as the president and general manager, a positiong he held from 2004-05. He then held the same positions with the MetroStars (now the New York Red Bulls) for one season before moving on to the Galaxy.
As a player, Lalas played on the MLS Cup-winning Galaxy in 2002. He also was a member of the 1994 and 1998 United States' World Cup teams. In his seven-year career in MLS, he made five all-star appearances.
