Chat with NBA Live's Larry Mitchell
![]() |
NBA Live: Bring it Home airs Sunday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. The show is an ESPN Original Entertainment production and is a six-episode reality competition series that will feature the eight best players of NBA LIVE 07, the popular video game from Electronic Arts, competing for a cash prize and the right to be considered the game's best player. The series will be hosted by ESPN.com columnist Scoop Jackson, with appearances by NBA players Vince Carter, Carmelo Anthony, Baron Davis, Antawn Jamison, Dwyane Wade, as well as Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.
Mitchell hails from Dallas, where his favorite team is, of course, the Dallas Mavericks. So when playing NBA Live, Mitchell likes to use the Mavericks because he likes their depth. He averages 25 hours per week playing the game, while his longest sitting is 12 hours straight of playing the game.
Send in your questions now and stop by at 2 p.m. ET on Tuesday to join the chat!

Larry Mitchell (2:01 PM)
Hey everyone, appreciate the questions!
John (Madison, WI)
It seemed like the crowd at the game you played wasn't that much of a factor. Did they bother you at all? Do you think that Jordan will have a tough time if he gets homecourt advantage in the next round?
Larry Mitchell (2:02 PM)
No, the crowd didn't bother me. I lost my swagger and I lost my confidence--plus, I was playing away, so I missed a whole bunch of shots. Jordan was the better player that game, and I'm not going to take anything from him, but I shouldn't have lost that game.
Stu (Providence, RI)
Are you famous now in your hometown due to being on the show?
Larry Mitchell (2:02 PM)
Somewhat, but not like you would think.
Gabe Colon (Indialantic, FL)
Larry, I was wondering if you also compete in the Madden Challenge circuit as well? If so, which cities did you go to in the 2007 Challenge? Thanks, Gabe Colon
Larry Mitchell (2:02 PM)
Yes I do. I went to Easton and I went to Dallas.
Frank (Chicago, IL)
Were you surprised that Q lost to Scott? What do you think of Scott?
Larry Mitchell (2:04 PM)
I was very surprised. Scott is good, don't get me wrong, but when we first met up in Dallas and were playing against one another, Steve wasn't that tough of a match. He won, so you have to give the man his dues. He beat Q fair and square.
Phil (LA)
What team gives you the most trouble in the game? Is there a team that's tough to beat?
Larry Mitchell (2:05 PM)
Not really. It's really open, it just depends on the way you play. If I don't execute against a player like Q or Jordan, you'll have a tough time regardless.
Kevin (Bristol)
What player is most overrated in the game?
Larry Mitchell (2:05 PM)
Good question. I'll go out on a limb and say Raja Bell. He's good, but he hits some unreal shots in the game.
Bob (Houston)
Have you met Scoop Jackson? Is is as cool as he seems?
Larry Mitchell (2:06 PM)
Yeah, Scoop's a down-to-earth brother. We joked a lot, and we still talk a bit. He's a cool guy.
Greg (Utah)
Any old school sports games that you like to play?
Larry Mitchell (2:06 PM)
Tecmo Bowl, Double Dribble, things like that.
George (New York, NY)
Larry- Did you think that Jordan went over the line with his trash talk when you were down so big late in the game?
Larry Mitchell (2:07 PM)
It's Jordan, man. I didn't care too much about it, so it didn't bother me at all.
Henry (Buffalo)
What's the longest that you've ever played in one sitting? What game were you playing?
Larry Mitchell (2:08 PM)
Probably about 12 hours, with Madden '06.
Kevin (Bristol)
What do you do about carpal tunnel thumbs?
Larry Mitchell (2:08 PM)
My thumbs got sore about once or twice out of the whole time I've been playing. You just stop and relax for a couple hours.
Will (Denver)
What's your favorite team to play with?
Larry Mitchell (2:09 PM)
Dallas, because of their depth.
Gary (Phoenix)
What's your favorite sport to watch? Favorite team?
Larry Mitchell (2:09 PM)
Basketball, and the Mavericks again.
jerron toledo oh
how do u enter in this and how old do u have to be because cant nobody stop me in this
Larry Mitchell (2:10 PM)
It's really a popularity contest, man. They go by online rankings too. Me and Q were known on the Madden circuit, so we got the call.
Larry Mitchell (2:10 PM)
Appreciate you guys chatting with me, and you can e-mail me if you have any more questions.
