Chat with Jared Zabransky

Previous cover athletes of EA's NCAA Football franchise have been: Reggie Bush (2007), Desmond Howard (2006), Larry Fitzgerald (2005), Carson Palmer (2004).
ESPN.com's Scouts Inc. has evaluated every player in the draft and this is what they say about Zabransky: ''Zabransky doesn't have prototypical size or arm strength but he has outstanding mobility and he is always a threat to make a play with his feet. He is also an accurate passer when he gets on a roll and he has improved his decision making. He projects as a late-round pick or an undrafted rookie free agent.''

We're getting Jared right now!

Congratulations on great season, an amazing bowl game and the EA sports cover. Who do you think is the front runner to replace you at QB and does BSU pick up where you left off or will there be a let down?
Jared Zabransky (1:03 PM)
I think they'll do very well next year. They do a very good job of recruiting and filling holes. When I was sophomore we went undefeated and we lost 11 starters from the roster. They do a good job of recruiting. I don't know who will be the quarterback. It will be an open competition.
John ( Richmond, VA)
What was it like playing in Boise the last couple of years?
Jared Zabransky (1:04 PM)
No, it was definitely a life-changing situation. We had some struggles in 2005, but then to end our season the way we did in the Fiesta Bowl, it was pretty amazing to end a five-year career on that note.
Jake (WI)
Who is guy you most looked up to while growing up?
Jared Zabransky (1:05 PM)
I watched Donovan McNabb when he was in college. I tried to emulate what he did and throwing on the run and moving around. Whenever you can put pressure on the defense with your ahtleticism, you're going to create problems.
Ryan, Massachusetts
How does it feel to be on the cover of a video game? Did you ever expect anything like this to happen to you?
Jared Zabransky (1:06 PM)
No, it feels unbelieveable to be honored with the cover. There were some great names before me. Coming into Boise five years ago, we couldn't have scripted what's happened to us. When you have such high goals and work so hard to achieve them, it's so gratifying. We're very honored.
Aaron (Brandon, SD)
Jared, how insane were the parties after you guys beat the sooners?
Jared Zabransky (1:07 PM)
Well, Phoenix closed down at 1 o'clock Monday night and we didn't get out of the stadium until 12:40. The following couple of weeks was great. I went to Hawaii for the Hula Bowl. I've definitely been able to enjoy it.
John ( Richmond, VA)
Is there an offense in the NFL that you think you would be the right fit for you?
Jared Zabransky (1:08 PM)
I felt like the way that I play, I can fit into any offensive system. Boise State has an intricate system and it takes a lot to learn it. We do different things with our concepts. I think I could mold my game to fit into any system.
Swede (Indiana)
Jared, Have you interviewed with any teams yet? and which ones?
Jared Zabransky (1:09 PM)
I interviewed with some informal interviews with some offensive coordinators and QB coaches at the combine. They all like the way that I played. I couldn't really get a vibe on which one liked me the most.
Patrick (Marietta, GA)
Congrats on the EA Cover! Did you have a favorite team in the NFL growing up?
Jared Zabransky (1:10 PM)
I liked the Chiefs when they had Christian Okoye and Thomas. That was my favorite team. They ran the table in Tecmo Bowl on Nintendo.
John ( Richmond, VA)
Had did the combine go for you and what round do you think you might get drafted in?
Jared Zabransky (1:11 PM)
I think it went really well. I'll be able to see how I stacked up with the master report of the times. I think I did well. I think I threw the ball well. I think my interviews went well too.
Dave (Boise, ID)
Jared, it's been a please watching you these past 3 years. Where do you think you will go in the draft?
Jared Zabransky (1:12 PM)
No, I've heard a lot of things - anywhere from the second round to the seventh. I don't really have a preference on the team. I feel like I can help a team.
James, Honolulu
Congrats on last season, and thank you for giving the WAC the recognition it desirves. What are your thoughts on Colt Brennen? Do you think he should have came out this year?
Jared Zabransky (1:13 PM)
No, I think he probably made the right decision. I think he wants to stick it out with his teammates out there. He'll be one of the front runners for the Heisman next year. That will be something that's very valuable to him in the upcoming year.
dan , newyork
how has tour life changes after the bowl game you played in
Jared Zabransky (1:13 PM)
The football team in Boise is treated kind of like heros. It's kind of like the little engine that could. We proved that if you set your goals high and do everything you can to achieve those goals, anything's possible.
Brown (New York, NY)
Congrats about the cover. Is there a defensive player that you are hopeful for the chance to play against in the NFL?
Jared Zabransky (1:14 PM)
There are some that I hope I don't have to play against! Everyone's talented. Just to be on the same level as some of these guys will be an eye-opening experience. It will be a great experience.
Nick
Be honest. Were you ever scared in that mid season game vs. San Jose. Came down to the wire. Ballin.
Jared Zabransky (1:15 PM)
No, I was battling through being sick, so I didn't really have much time to think about being scared that we were going to lose. We get played tough every year playing San Jose. We knew they had an upset a few years back and they played us tough in '04. It came down to the end and us making a few key plays.
Melissa (Boise, ID)
Jared, Thanks for an unbelievable year. I go to Boise State and was not much of a football fan. I wish you all the success in the world in the NFL. Besides the Bowl win, what was your fondest memory of the season?
Jared Zabransky (1:17 PM)
Probably Senior Day when we played Utah State. Running out on the field with the rest of the seniors. You can really feel the energy and being able to spend it with your family and friends is amazing.
Pete (Denver)
3 most underrated teams in college football?
Jared Zabransky (1:18 PM)
I think year in, year out, I think Boise State's going to be one of them. BYU is one of those teams that had a really good year last year. You can probably put Fresno or Hawaii into that category as well. Plus Rutgers did some stuff this year as well to open some eyes.
Jared Zabransky (1:19 PM)
Thanks for all the support. Hopefully all is well. God bless. Keep an eye out for me and all the other Broncos in the NFL next year.
