Chat with Jacoby Jones

Mel Kiper, in his chat this week, mentioned Jones as a potential sleeper in the draft. He said Jones could be this year's Marques Colston.
ESPN.com's Scouts Inc. has evaluated every player in the draft and this is what they say about Jones: ''Jones needs to get stronger and add some bulk to his frame, but he has the size, speed and athletic ability to develop into a decent No. 2 or quality No. 3 who also contributes on special teams. Jones is one of the most intriguing sleeper prospects in this year's class, and we think he's worth a gamble early on Day 2.''
Send in your questions now, then join Jones on Friday at 3 p.m. ET!
Jacoby Jones (2:57 PM)
How y'all doing? Thanks for all the support!
Zak (Cleveland)
Where do you want to be drafted?
Jacoby Jones (2:58 PM)
It doesn't matter. I just want an opportunity to play! It's doesn't matter when or where I go.
Mark H. (Bowling Green, OH)
What do you feel scouts look for most when evaluating small school WRs compared to WRs from big schools?
Jacoby Jones (2:58 PM)
The first thing they look for is, can you play, ability-wise. Then they look for your football knowledge--how you react to game situations and how you move.
Marc (Jacksonville, FL)
What teams have shown the most interest in you so far?
Jacoby Jones (2:59 PM)
Every team has showed some interest, but I don't know which ones have really been out there. I've told my agent I don't want to know, because I want to stay grounded.
James (Oklahoma)
Who is your favorite NFL team and who is your favorite NFL WR?
Jacoby Jones (3:00 PM)
My favorite NFL team is the Saints, they're my home team. My favorite receiver is Chad Johnson.
Jake (WI)
Can you compare yourself to the prospects like Calvin, Jarret and Ginn?
Jacoby Jones (3:00 PM)
Of course! They're athletes just like anyone else. The only real difference is the name of the school. I can compete at any level.
Sean, Philly
Hey Jacoby have the Philadelphia Eagles showed any interest in you?? & if so how would feel if you were to be catch passes from a QB like McNabb if you were to be drafted by Philly??
Jacoby Jones (3:01 PM)
The Eagles have shown great interest in me, and I would love to catch passes from McNabb. I have a workout coming up for them, so we'll see what happens with that.
Lane (Kukuihaele, HI)
Do you think you'll be a better wide reciever or kick return specialist in your rookie year?
Jacoby Jones (3:03 PM)
In my rookie year, I think I'll be a better returner. I like being a returner a bit better, because you're like an offensive coordinator when you return. It's your show.
Jack White (Peoria,IA)
Who would yopu rather play for: the Raiders or the Lions?
Jacoby Jones (3:03 PM)
The first one that picks me!
Lane (Kukuihaele, HI)
What do you think you need to improve on the most? route running? blocking?
Jacoby Jones (3:04 PM)
I would say my route running. It can always get better and better. Just watching film of some of the guys in the league will help me improve.
elton (nashville)
was the wonderlic test fun to take or what??
Jacoby Jones (3:05 PM)
The Wonderlic test was pretty interesting. After the amount of times you take it, it gets to the point where you pretty much know the answer to everything.
Raymond (Baltimore)
What do you think are your strengths that you bring to the table? Wish you the best!
Jacoby Jones (3:06 PM)
I appreciate it! I think my strengths are my speed, and I'm a role player as well. Whatever I can do to help the team, I'll do it.
sean (waterbury,ct)
there are alot players in the league from small colleges. what inpact will you have.
Jacoby Jones (3:06 PM)
I can't really say what type of impact I'll have until I get there, but I'm looking forward to getting in and getting some playing time.
Lane (Kukuihaele, HI)
Favorite TV show? outside of football activity?
Jacoby Jones (3:07 PM)
My favorite TV show is SportsCenter, because I like to see if I've made the top 10 plays of the week! Outside of football, I like to spend time with my mother.
Jake (WI)
Would you like to catch a pass from the Greatest QB EVER- BRETT FAVRE?
Jacoby Jones (3:08 PM)
I would love to catch a pass from Brett Favre. With the timing and zip he has on the ball, I'd hope he doesn't break my fingers!
Jack White (Peoria,IA)
Do you think Marques Colston's year will have teams looking for more small-college wideouts?
Jacoby Jones (3:08 PM)
Of course! The thing he did when he came into the league was to help people from smaller colleges move to the next level.
Noah (Montreal, QUE)
Have the Giants showed any interst in you? I know that they want to add a kick retuner through the draft.
Jacoby Jones (3:09 PM)
I've met with them at the combine as well. I wouldn't mind playing for the Giants.
Sean
What do you think Lane offered you that a DivI school couldn't have?
Jacoby Jones (3:10 PM)
The opportunity to play football. D-I looked over me because I was only 5'7", but when I got to Lane, that was all she wrote.
Lane (Kukuihaele, HI)
Describe for us the best game you ever played?
Jacoby Jones (3:11 PM)
The best game I ever played was vs. Fort Valley University. I had ten catches, 141 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 171 return yards.
Mitch (Morrisville, NC)
Do you see yourself as more of a Dante Hall type, a player who is better returner than receiver?
Jacoby Jones (3:11 PM)
I think I'm a total package receiver as well as a return guy. If they see me as a blocker, I'll do it. If they see me as a short-yardage guy, I'll do it.
Jack White (Peoria,IA)
Do you look up to recievers like Steve Smith, who are small and still great players?
Jacoby Jones (3:12 PM)
I look up to him, because he's got a hunger and the motivation to do great. He's got a chip on his shoulder. I think he'll be a Hall of Famer one day.
Jboss (Princess Anne, MD)
Big 49ers fan, and after watching in a couple bowl games, I think you can do whatever you want just put your mind to it and work hard. I look at Jerry Rice, who came from a small school and see a man that wanted IT bad and went out there and got it. You should do the same, I watched you and know you have the talent. And even more I'd like to see you playing with Alex Smith and Frank Gore, GO 49ers!!!!
Jacoby Jones (3:13 PM)
I appreciate it, and thanks for the support!
Tim (Storrs, CT)
Because no one knew you at the combine, did you feel overlooked when every scout was poking and proding Calvin, Jarrett, Ginn, Bowe and others?
Jacoby Jones (3:14 PM)
Not at all! I was out there having fun. I think I opened their eyes at the draft.
Lane (Kukuihaele, HI)
What song/music do you listen to before the game? Any pre-game rituals?
Jacoby Jones (3:15 PM)
After I eat, I'm the first guy in the locker room. I put on my headphones and I listen to Lil' Wayne, a New Orleans rapper.
Jacoby Jones (3:15 PM)
Thank you for the support!
