Gomez was one of the smallest boxers in Contender's past. As a heavy underdog he gained notoriety for handing Peter Manfredo Jr. his first loss as a professional, and in turn, set the tone for the hard-fought battles that would ensure for the remainder of Season One.
In The Contender Challenge, United States captain "Sugar" Ray Leonard leads an all-star team from The Contender's past in an exhibition against Great Britain's best and brightest. Six fighters from the United States will take on six fighters from the United Kingdom in a team-versus-team competition for country pride, reputation and glory. The show airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
