Fernandez is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in doubles (1992, 1996). She retired in 2000, after a 15-year career in which she won over $5 million. She owns seven career singles titles and 15 doubles titles. Among her wins are two majors in doubles, while she advanced to the finals of three majors in singles competition. In her career, she won over 400 matches in singles and over 300 in doubles.
