Buzzmaster (3:00 PM)
Then after chatting with Dee, Scouts Inc.'s Billy Tucker will be by to answer all your recruiting questions!
Buzzmaster (3:02 PM)
Dee's here!
Fred NJ
Dee what is your favorite part about playing safety? Rutgers would love ya!!!
Dee Finley (3:02 PM)
My ability to see the whole field.
Brian Boston MA
Dee have any schools talked to you about playing linebacker with your good size?
Dee Finley (3:03 PM)
Actually, Texas has shown some interest. That's probably the only school that's talked about me playing LB.
Rick Tulsa, Oklahoma
Dee are the Sooners up in your top 3? We need a hard hitting safety......
Dee Finley (3:03 PM)
Yeah, I'm definitely looking at Oklahoma pretty hard.
Noah (Cincinnati)
Dee - are you looking at any schools outside of the SEC?
Dee Finley (3:04 PM)
Oh yeah. Oklahoma, Miami, Clemson. Louisville, too.
Nick Alabama
Dee does Coach Saban's ties to the NFL influence your decision to play there?
Dee Finley (3:04 PM)
Yeah, it does.
Dee Finley (3:04 PM)
It has to, you know.
Tom Mobile AL
Dee who do you model your game after?
Dee Finley (3:05 PM)
I think Sean Taylor or Ed Reed.
Tim (Boise)
Dee come on join the Broncos and play on the smurf turf baby!!!
Larry Ohio
Dee have any othe 2008 commits tried to get you to come on board with them?
Dee Finley (3:06 PM)
Not really. I just have a couple of good friends at a few places that want me to come. They're all just joking around.
mark (des moines)
who has been after you the hardest?
Dee Finley (3:06 PM)
It would have to be a tie between LSU, Alabama and Auburn.
Bob Auburn AL
Dee congrats on your success, fair to say it might come down to a dog fight between Auburn and Alabama for you?
Dee Finley (3:07 PM)
No, it's not really going to be a dog fight between those two.
Brian Nashua NH
Dee what factors are going help you make a decision in which college you choose?
Dee Finley (3:07 PM)
Probably the environment, the coaching staff and the players themselves.
Tim (Boise)
forget the sec join the WAC that is were its at!!!
mark (des moines)
which is more important to you-winning now playing time or tradition?
Dee Finley (3:08 PM)
Of course, it's tradition of the program. Playing early isn't that big of a deal. Playing is a big deal, but not playing early.
Rupert J. Lloyd IV (Huxtable Falls, England)
Thought of any mid-major programs?
Dee Finley (3:09 PM)
Yeah, I have, Troy, UAB. I kind of like those schools.
Dan Baton Rouge LA
Dee what do you like about LSU? Will you take an official visit there?
Dee Finley (3:09 PM)
I plan on taking an official visit. I like the coach Miles and I like the city there too.
Frank Miami FL
Dee does the great tradition of safties at Miami make them a top choice? We would love to have you!!!
Dee Finley (3:10 PM)
Yes, I've looked at Miami. It's where my favorite player came from - Ed Reed.
nick (houston)
ps3 or 360?
Dee Finley (3:10 PM)
Play Station 3.
Brian (Greensboro NC0
Dee, we would love to have you on the Plains next year. How seriously are you considering playing for Auburn and lining up with Michael McNeil next year?
Dee Finley (3:11 PM)
They're definitely a keeper on my top list.
tim (vegas)
favorite candy?
Dee Finley (3:11 PM)
I like Twix, man. I like Twix.
Steve Charlotte NC
Dee whats it feel like to be the #1 rated defensive player in the country by ESPN?
Dee Finley (3:12 PM)
It's surprising, but it feels pretty good.
Rupert J. Lloyd IV (Huxtable Falls, England)
Do you think you have what it takes to be an NFL player?
Dee Finley (3:12 PM)
Yeah, not right now. But I think I could go to college and get the tools I need.
mark (des moines)
is Iowa state even close to being on your radar?
Dee Finley (3:13 PM)
It's not a bad school, but the location, I don't think that would fit me.
Rupert J. Lloyd IV (Huxtable Falls, England)
Twix is the ultimate cookie bar. Good call, Dee Roy.
Rupert J. Lloyd IV (Huxtable Falls, England)
Do you trash talk on the field, or let your playing do the talking?
Dee Finley (3:13 PM)
I talk a little trash. I think it gets into the other guy's head.
ralph (talahassee)
what has been the strangest thing youve encountered during the recruitin process?
Dee Finley (3:14 PM)
I went into a gas station in Auburn and there were four college students who got on their knees and begged me to go there. I'm from here and there are a lot of people talking to me about that.
Brad (Tucson)
No love for the PAC-10? Have you considered any west coast teams like, maybe, Arizona?
Dee Finley (3:15 PM)
Actually, I like some Pac-10 teams. But I haven't gotten anything from them.
Peter (G-Ville, FL)
SEC is the toughest conference in the NCAA, do you think?
Dee Finley (3:15 PM)
Oh yeah. There's too much D.
Tim (Boise)
whats your favorite NFL team?
Dee Finley (3:16 PM)
The Redskins.
James (Athens)
You have any love for the bulldogs? We'd love to have you in Athens
Dee Finley (3:16 PM)
Georgia's recruiting me pretty hard. I think I'm going to go there this summer for a camp. I like them.
Philip (Huntsville, AL)
I saw that you mentioned Clemson and Miami. What do you think of Georgia Tech? Tough for smaller schools to compete with SEC monsters for recruiting.
Dee Finley (3:17 PM)
I like Georgia Tech. I go there a lot to visit one of my friends who graduated last year, Dominique Reese.
Steve (San Diego, CA)
Hello Dee,Have you taken a look at what West Virginia has done the last couple of years? There is no question that you could come in and start immediately in the 3-3-5 system. What do you think?
Dee Finley (3:18 PM)
Yeah, I followed them this year a little bit. They're a pretty good program.
Peter (G-Ville)
Dee do you think your better than some of the gators(Jarvis Moss, Reggie Nelson,Marcus Thomas, Ryan Smith).
Dee Finley (3:18 PM)
I think if I work hard, I can try to be.
Dee Finley (3:18 PM)
Look out for me.
Buzzmaster (3:19 PM)
We'd like to thank Dee for coming and joining us today! Thanks Dee!
Buzzmaster (3:19 PM)
Billy Tucker will now take some of your questions! Send them in NOW!
Steve (San Diego, CA)
Who do you think has the best shot of landing Pryor?
Billy Tucker (3:23 PM)
It depends on what position he, Pryor really wants to play. He is being recruited at a number of spots outside of QB and when I spoke with his coach this week, he told me he has not narrowed down his list yet, too many at this point. We think he could be a difference-maker at DE as much as any other position. Programs are probably going to tell him what he wants to hear if he insists on playing QB so he is going to have to really develop trust with whoever he commits to.
John (Austin)
Tom, Blaine Gabbert to the Huskers has me pretty excited. What can you tell me about him? Is he the #1 QB in the country right now?
Billy Tucker (3:27 PM)
This is a class that has a lot of good QB's that no one knows about yet. This is not a "name" class as far as big names and such, but yes, to this point Gabbert is the most complete QB we have seen thus far. Few players possess his size, arm and athleticism and he is also very polished. This was a HUGE pick-up for Nebraska because I think they have relaly missed on QB's over the last three classes and now they got one that could get them over the hump. Hope they keep him, it's early, but I spoke with his coach yesterday and he is strongly committed to his decision.
brian, auburn
i heard something about a qb for notre dame named joe christ or something... whats his story
Billy Tucker (3:29 PM)
It's Dayne Crist actually and he of all places goes to Notre Dame high school in California. He is a big, strong pocket passer and regardless of Jimmy Clausen's status, the Irish need QB's right now as they lack experience under center.
Mike (Maple Shade, NJ)
Billy, is Will Hill going to stay home and commit to the Scarlet? Thanks
Billy Tucker (3:31 PM)
Waaaaaay too early to tell. He has so much on his plate right now that he hasn't even begun to narrow things down. I spoke to his coach today and he is now up to 67 offers. He is being recruited as a safety primarily, but could easily be a two-way player at the next level. He's that talented.
ish (NYC)
are you guys down on cissoko b/c of his height? the kid looked like glue at the AA combine. if he stays at that height what do u see out of him?
Billy Tucker (3:33 PM)
Yes, we are very concerned about his height because the size of the wide receivers in the Big Ten tend to be large and we worry about him in the red area getting taken advantage of. He is tough, quick and scrappy which is why he is a good fit over the slot where he can be protected a little behind him.
Pork Chop (London, KY)
J. Clausen was the talk of this years QBs and went to Notre Dame. But, R. Mallett showd him out in the Sr. Bowl and went Maize and Blue. I look forward to watching their early season head-to-heads. Who do you think will end their career as the better Field General?
Billy Tucker (3:34 PM)
Mallett
Burr (NJ)
I know the commitments so far are just verbals, but who are the top 5 schools with the 2008 class?
Billy Tucker (3:38 PM)
In no real order-- Texas, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas AandM, UCLA-- there's six for ya!
Ben (Mobile AL)
What positions seem to be the strongest in this years class? How do you expect this class to compare with others down the road? Thanks!!
Billy Tucker (3:39 PM)
No question about it wide receivers are the class of this group. Not to go out on a limb here, but there could be 4 or 5 future 1st rounders in this group.
Billy Tucker (3:41 PM)
Guys, I have to run and finish some reports and see if I can find another Dee Finley, but it's doubtful! Thanks for joining us and we'll see you next week.
