Chat with CS Fullerton OF Josh Fellhauer
Cal State Fullerton (36-23) hosts the Fullerton Super Regional against UCLA (33-26), which starts Saturday (7 p.m. ET, ESPN). Fullerton earned a spot in the Super Regionals by going undefeated (3-0) at the San Diego Regional. The two-seed, Fullerton defeated Minnesota once and Fresno State twice while scoring 26 runs.
Fellhauer, a freshman, was one of the three Fullerton players named to the all-tournament team in San Diego. He hit .500 in the Regional, after batting .326 on the year. He went 3-for-4 with two 2Bs and two runs scored in Fullerton's big 6-4 win in the first game against Fresno State. The win kept Fullerton in the winner's bracket, needing only one more win to advance to the Super Regionals.

Josh is here! Let's get started!
You nervous about Saturday's game?
Josh Fellhauer (2:29 PM)
Not so much nervous, at least not yet. I am just very excited. I may be a little nervous right before the game, but once the game starts nerves usually go out the window.

George Horton likes to recruit HS football players. How did your experience as a quarterback help you on the baseball field?
Josh Fellhauer (2:31 PM)
It helped me stay mentally tough. In football there are big momentum swings and the same thing happens with baseball. So it made me less nervous when I came to the college game.
wes (lake forest, CA)
Felly! At the start of the season, it seemed like you were more defensive at the plate. Now you're attacking and driving the ball. How difficult was the adjustment to college ball and what has been the secret to your continual improvement?
Josh Fellhauer (2:32 PM)
At the start of the season I was a bit timid, and I was not sure I was ready for college ball. But I learned a lot from Clark Hardman, he has tought me a lot about hitting and he has really helped raise my confidence. So much of the credit has to go to him.

Josh - Does the coaching staff prepare or practice diferently for Regionals/ Super regionals
Josh Fellhauer (2:33 PM)
No, we have not done anything differently. The mindset of the players may be a bit different, and we do have some injuries, but other than that everything has been the same all year.
Did you expect to experience this much success as a freshman?
Josh Fellhauer (2:34 PM)
To be honest no. I came in knowing Clark Hardman was going to be the starting CF, and there were a lot of returning starters, so I figured I would sit back and learn a lot this year. But I got my shot and it worked out, and it's still rolling.
Mark (Orange, CA)
Josh you really became starter after the UCLA series (Only one AB against UCLA). How ready are you for the UCLA pitchers?
Josh Fellhauer (2:36 PM)
Well, I feel like I am pretty ready because the coaches always have brilliant scouting reports. And I feel good because I got to watch their pitchers a lot, so I learned from that.
Little G from The OC
When did Fullerton start recruiting you and what made you decide to become a Titan?
Josh Fellhauer (2:37 PM)
I was recruited the summer going into my senior year. And I wanted to become a Titan because of their baseball tradition, the great atmosphere around the program, and because it was close to home.
Brooks O'Hea, Newport Beach California
If you get drafted to go to the minor league as a junior, would you stay for your senior year of go pro as a junior?
Josh Fellhauer (2:38 PM)
Well I would have to talk to the coaches and my family. I do not know. I am too young right now to be thinking about that decision.
David Reichling Lakewood CA
The Titans struggled against Brummett with 5 hits and 11 SO. What if any adjustments will there be in the offense ? What pitches does he use ?
Josh Fellhauer (2:40 PM)
Brummett is a very good pitcher who mixes his fastball, curveball and change. We just want to battle him from the batters box and see what happens.
John, Laguna Niguel, CA
As a Titan alum and frequent visitor to Goodwin Field, how would you rate the crowd support relative to other places you've played (Rice, Wichita St etc) GO TITANS!
Josh Fellhauer (2:41 PM)
Well Wichita St. was amazing, almost the entire state was there. Our alums are great here, and you always hear them when they come out to the games. But small towns like Wichita get huge crowds.
Matt Heersema Glendora, CA
What has been the best thing about becoming a part of Titan baseball?
Josh Fellhauer (2:42 PM)
The best thing is everything. The coaches are great, the school is fun, and our players are always on you trying to make you better and that is what we are all about. What's best about being a Titan is that everyone is there for you.
Titans Home in Omaha!
You executed two perfect hit-&-run plays last weekend. Who on the Titan staff works with you guys on your hitting fundamentals?
Josh Fellhauer (2:44 PM)
All our coaches know a lot about hitting. But for the most part coach Gill is there with us working on our swing in the batting cages.
Demetre, South Carolina
How confident is the team headed into this weekends Super Regional match-up between UCLA. How much does knowing that the Titans have already taken 2 out of 3 from the Bruins earlier in the season help?
Josh Fellhauer (2:46 PM)
Well we are very confident, and we would still be this confident even if we hadnt played them. We feel as if we just play baseball, and it does not matter who we play against. We feel that if we just play baseball the scoreboard will reward us at the end of the day.
Josh Fellhauer (2:47 PM)
Thank you for all your questions. I hope you will be watching the game this weekend.
