Diaz and Morales square off in Diaz's home city of Chicago Saturday, August 4 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill. The fight will be shown live on HBO PPV starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
Diaz (32-1-1, 17 KOs) was a 1996 U.S. Olympian and will be making his first title defense. He defeated Jose Armando Santa Cruz in August 2006, stopping him in the 10th round of the 12-round fight. Diaz's only loss came against Kendall Holt in 2005, but the champion is undefeated in seven straight fights and 6-0-1 overall.
Morales is attempting to win his fourth world championship in his fourth weight class. Morales (48-5, 34 KOs) will be making his Chicago fight debut.
