Chat with California QB Nate Longshore

After a big 31-24 win over No. 11 Oregon last Saturday, Longshore and the Cal Bears jumped in the rankings from No. 6 to No. 3. The ranking is the highest reached by the Bears since 1952. After a bye week this weekend, Cal returns to the field Oct. 13 to face Oregon State. Cal will be looking to go 6-0 for the first time since 1950 and it is the 27th time the school has started 5-0.
The 2007 season marks the second straight season that Longshore, a junior, is the team's No. 1 QB. He already has thrown for 1,137 yards to go with his seven TD passes and just two INTs. Longshore passed for 3,021 yards and 24 TDs in 2006.
Submit your questions now and then then join Longshore for all the answers on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. ET!

Nate is here!
David (LA)
How's the ankle, Nate? Go Bears!
Nate Longshore (1:33 PM)
The ankle is fine, it is just a sprain, that happens when you play any sport. It should not be a problem.
Eric, Turlock, CA
Why did you choose to go to Cal?
Nate Longshore (1:34 PM)
I was family friends with Kyle Boller and I just liked the type of coaching that was going on and I was very impressed with the academic program as well.
Nick (Berkeley CA)
Hey Nate, which receiver hassles you the most about always being open? Great job in Oregon, looking foward to OSU!
Nate Longshore (1:34 PM)
I would have to say Lavelle Hawkins. Every play he is open. Even on the run plays.
Justin (Los Angeles)
Nate, what makes JT such a great coach?
Nate Longshore (1:35 PM)
He understands and relates to his players well. And he knows how to motivate us and deal with us on a daily basis.
Shawn (Albany, CA)
Do you still talk to Kyle sometimes?
Nate Longshore (1:36 PM)
Everyone is pretty busy these days, but maybe a few times a season he will drop by or put a call in.
Franklin (San Francisco, Ca)
Nate, over the last few years the road has been tough to you and the aerial attack. What clicked in Oregon? And how will you use that in future big road games?
Nate Longshore (1:38 PM)
Our non-verbal communication between myself, the offensive line, and the wide receivers has really improved, and that has helped us play better on the road.
Sang, San Francisco
Did you or the team take Les Miles' comments as a personal insult?
Nate Longshore (1:39 PM)
You know, we understand that a lot of coaches say a lot of things, and that it is part of the game. We are more worried about us, and what we are doing.
Saratoga, CA
After throwing a touchdown, you pound your chest and point skyward - for your Dad?
Nate Longshore (1:40 PM)
Yes, one finger is for my dad and one is for the Lord, after every TD. You have to give them both credit.
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Nate, Do you have a fav. nfl team?
Nate Longshore (1:41 PM)
I cheer more for players. I am a fan of quarterbacks, and I want all quarterbacks to do well in games.
Section FF, Row 22, Seats 13-16
Hey Nate--The Frey family THANKS YOU for making Saturdays fun. We're fifty plus-year fans and you and your teammates have made it all worth while again. Do we have you for one more season? Please say yes.
Nate Longshore (1:42 PM)
Obviously, in the middle of the season it is not something I am really even thinking about. We are just out here having fun and just trying to make the most of it.
Craig (Boston, MA)
When you guys going to bust out the yellow jerseys again?!
Nate Longshore (1:43 PM)
Those are a home game jersey, so somewhere down the road.
Ed (San Francisco, CA)
What part of your game do you feel needs the most work?
Nate Longshore (1:44 PM)
Probably my jump shot. But as far as football, obviously I would like to improve my running ability with the ball.
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Nate, What player growing up inspired you and what nfl team would you want to play for?
Nate Longshore (1:45 PM)
I always grew up watching the 49ers and Montana and then Young. As far as what team I would like to play for, that is tough. How about the new LA expansion team?
Jeremy (Clovis, CA)
Nate, do you do anything to reward the big guys on the O-line? They have been giving you great pass protection all year.
Nate Longshore (1:47 PM)
Depending on how well they do, they get special snacks or food on Sunday. For really good games they get an In and Out double-double. It is really weird going into In and Out and ordering 45 double-doubles; and those guys down those things in like 5 minutes.
Brendan (Walnut Creek, CA)
Who's faster DeSean Jackson Or Jahvid Best?
Nate Longshore (1:48 PM)
In the 40 Jackson. In the 100 Best.
Paul ( San Mateo, CA)
Great job so far Nate! What are your thoughts on the potential of local star Jahvid Best?
Nate Longshore (1:48 PM)
I think he is one of the most talented players I have seen. I think his potential is limitless.
Marcus (San Mateo)
Cal's been in and out of the top 10 since 2004. How does that make you feel?
Nate Longshore (1:50 PM)
You know it is exciting, but it does not matter until January. We are honored to be where we are at, but we will not rest until it is over.
Nate Longshore (1:51 PM)
Thanks for being so supportive! I look forward to seeing you out at Memorial. Go Bears!
