Buzzmaster (11:02 AM)
Nate will be here soon!
Nate Ravitz (11:02 AM)
Hey guys and gals. Let's do this thing we call chatting.
John (DC)
What can I expect from Shaun Alexander the rest of the way? Should I try and trade him? For what value?
Nate Ravitz (11:03 AM)
A week ago I really liked his upcoming schedule, but he looks so bad I can't even say that anymore. If you can trade him for top 15 pick value, I'd do it. Maybe even top 20.
Matt (NJ)
Natedog I have one quick, but very important question for you. So come on man answer a question for your boy. Eli v. Miami or Kitna v. Chi?
Nate Ravitz (11:04 AM)
I'll say Eli, and I don't think it's that close with Kitna on the road at Chicago.
Brian (Columbus)
Pretty even split with Addai and Keith last night. A sign of things to come? With LJ on bye next week, I'm considering starting Keith...
Nate Ravitz (11:05 AM)
I think it is a sign of things to come, at least to an extent. Keith has looked really good, and I think the Colts will keep him involved in the offense and try not to wear Addai out too much. Keith is a viable starter as a flex in a 12-team league.
Nick (Cleveland)
In the podcast yesterday, you and TMR discussed whether Tom Brady would go #1 overall if you were to re-draft today. In a keeper league where you give up the draft spot of your keeper, would you give up your 2nd round pick to keep Brady, or your 7th round to keep Gore? The value is with Gore, but Brady is literally carrying me every week (6 pts per pass TD).
Nate Ravitz (11:07 AM)
That's a tough call, and hopefully you don't have to make it soon. But if Gore finishes the season healthy that's the guy you have to keep. Remember, Peyton came back to earth after his monster season.
James, Ca
Nate, i just traded McNabb for Thomas Jones, is that a fair deal, or should i have kept McNabb?
Nate Ravitz (11:07 AM)
I think that's pretty fair. I've been on the "sell McNabb" bandwagon for a while now.
Nate Ravitz (11:08 AM)
Thanks to the buzzmaster for fixing my old posts. I assure you all of the responses were really me.
Jim (NYC)
Will Jacobs be on the injury report all year for the Giants? Is he going to play this week or rest for the upcoming bye?
Nate Ravitz (11:09 AM)
I think he plays this week, but yes, I'm starting to get the feeling he's going to be one of those guys who is probable or questionable most weeks.
Adam (Pittsburgh, PA)
What is Jesse Chatman's value? Top 15 guy? Will he be able to hold off the rookie behind him?
Nate Ravitz (11:10 AM)
I don't think Lorenzo Booker or Patrick Cobbs are real threats to Chatman, but I also don't think he's a top 15 back. He'd be in the 25 range for me. The schedule gets a lot tougher, and he's not the player Brown is.
mike - miami
is cobbs worth owning as a handcuff to chatman?
Nate Ravitz (11:12 AM)
Any backup RB is worth owning if you have enough roster spots. But in a 10- or 12-team league I don't think Cobbs should be owned
Chuck (Knoxville)
Been offered Carson + W. Parker for Eli + LT. Yay or nay?
Nate Ravitz (11:12 AM)
I would take the LT side of that deal.
BT (Georgia)
I paid $22 for Tatum Bell in an auction draft, obviously too much, but my question is does he have any value at all now? Should I even waste a roster spot for him?
Nate Ravitz (11:14 AM)
He's worth a roster spot because of Jones' injury history.
Matt (LA)
Nate the Hate doesn't handcuff his studs!! Will Derek Anderson continue to produce? Is he a top 10 QB this year?
Nate Ravitz (11:15 AM)
He will continue to produce but I don't think he finishes in the top 10. I still think the Browns will take a look at Brady Quinn later in the year.
Adam (Pittsburgh, PA)
In reference to your earlier post about Alexander, would you stay completely away from him? Or would you take a gamble, if you could get him for say an E. Graham or a D. Foster?
Nate Ravitz (11:15 AM)
I would rather own him than Graham or Foster, but you're close to the right area. I said on the podcast yesterday that I'd rather own LenDale White. That was in the heat of the moment, but I think I believe it.
Mark (Pennington, NJ)
With Ronnie Brown out, I have Addai and K. Jones as RB's. Is K. Jones a viable starter from here on out. I am not going to get Chatman since I am #6 on the waiver order.
Nate Ravitz (11:17 AM)
He's a viable starter as a No. 2 back in a 12-team league, but that presumes he stays healthy.
Lacey (Minnesota)
Hey Nate! Do you think that Griese is worthy of a start this week versus Detroit?
Nate Ravitz (11:17 AM)
Absolutely. I haven't done my rankings for this week yet but I'd guess Griese makes the top 10.
Edwin (NYC)
Do you consider Lendale White to be a legitimate RB2? I'm trying to figure out if I should offer him up for Todd Heap.
Nate Ravitz (11:17 AM)
White is way too much to give up for Heap.
Nathan - CLE
Is Lorenzo Booker worth a flier, I've seen reports that the Dolphins have been working him at WR. Do you see him maybe becoming a poor man's Bush later in the year?
Nate Ravitz (11:19 AM)
I think it's a stretch to think a third-string RB could convert to WR and be effective in a short period of time, especially with Cleo Lemon and John Beck at QB.
Mike (MI)
In a 14 team league. Looking for that true sleeper RB. One that only has potential once the starter is injured. Throw some names out there. Like a P Thomas or L Booker, but even better. I've got a bench seat vacanted for them.
Nate Ravitz (11:21 AM)
How about Michael Robinson or Maurice Hicks?
Mark (TX)
In our shallow 8-team PPR league I have Big Ben & McNabb and no willing trade partners. Do I drop McNabb for either Calvin Johnson or Chris Henry(WR)?
Nate Ravitz (11:22 AM)
I think I'd hold onto McNabb and play the matchups between he and Big Ben. I'm sure there will be plenty of weeks when McNabb will be the better option.
ari (atlanta)
Lee Evans worth a shot vs. the Jets who he kills - or Greg Jennings on MNF
Nate Ravitz (11:24 AM)
Tough call. At the moment I'd lean toward Evans, but I'm not crazy about that call.
josh, nj
Nate, great podcast yesterday (though it sounds like Pod Vader squeaked by with a 2 point victory in the Man's league. Boo!) Anyway, for this week, I need two of Amani Toomer, Colston or Kevin Walter/Andre Davis? Also, Lamont, Deshawn Wynn or Kenton Keith?
Nate Ravitz (11:25 AM)
Thanks. I'd probably go with Colston and Walter, but I wouldn't blame you for benching Colston. At RB, got to be Jordan.
John (Chicago)
What are your thoughts on K. Jones for the rest of this year. IS he a top 10, top 15 back?
Nate Ravitz (11:26 AM)
No. Probably about 17 or 18 on merit, but lower when you factor in injury risk.
Chris (Prague, CZ)
Lots of talk of Jesse Chatman in Miami, but is there any shot of Ricky Williams being reinstated and taking the job? Also, how do you think Ginn Jr looks for the rest of the year and the future?
Nate Ravitz (11:27 AM)
The NFL is in no hurry to make a decision on Ricky, and the Brown injury doesn't accelerate the timetable. My guess is he doesn't come back, but even if he does it's not until Week 13 or 14 and he isn't even a starter.
matt (mpls)
Can you please explain why you think Quinn gets a look, considering how good Anderson has been. Fairly easy schedule down the stretch, so Anderson shouldn't falter.
Nate Ravitz (11:29 AM)
Because realistically, the Browns aren't contenders this year, and they'll want to find out what they have in Quinn. I think the Week 10/11 gauntlet of @ PIT and @ BAL back to back could easily spell the end of Anderson as the starter. Just the way of the world.
Jimmy (NYC)
Nate Dogg!! Who has a better rest of season - Edge or Magahee? Thanks
Nate Ravitz (11:30 AM)
McGahee, but it's close.
John (Ohio)
Nate, forget about Berry...be MY wingman! M. Lynch has a favorable schedule coming up. Should I trade Jacobs for him? What about Jacobs and Curtis for Lynch and Jennings? Fair?
Nate Ravitz (11:30 AM)
I would make either of those trades, but I like the first better than the second.
K2 (Kenton Keith)
How do you like my new nickname? When do I take the starting job from Addai? Am I a top 15 Rb even as his backup?
Nate Ravitz (11:31 AM)
Never and no.
Matt(IN)
Love the podcast! Would you rather have Edge or Lynch the remainder of the season? What about Steve Smith or Reggie Wayne? (10 team, PPR)
Nate Ravitz (11:31 AM)
Lynch and Smith, with the latter being EXTREMELY close.
Gray (Chicago)
Is Big Ben a top 10 QB the rest of the way considering his upcoming schedule? Perhaps top 5?
Nate Ravitz (11:32 AM)
Definitely not top 5, but I think 8-12 sounds about right.
Brian (Philly)
I HATE FANTASY!! I was winning every second this week until Quinn Gray fumbled that last snap of the game, Colts recovered, and I lost by 1!!!!!!!!
Nate Ravitz (11:32 AM)
Welcome to fantasy football.
The Hate
HateRav - Would you be so crazy as to play Addai and then play Keith in the flex? Coke Zero for life!
Nate Ravitz (11:33 AM)
I have that very decision this week. Depends on your alternatives at flex, but definitely a consideration.
Paul (Albany, OR)
I understand your thoughts on Derek Anderson. So my question is do you think he has earned a look as an option to compete for a starting job for teams like Atlanta, Minnesota, Chicago, etc. or is he destined to earn a great living holding the clipboard and filling in for an injured starter? Thanks.
Nate Ravitz (11:34 AM)
I think it's a little early to tell, but my gut is he gets a chance to start somewhere.
Nathan-CLE
Is Brees back and where do you rank him the rest of the year?
Nate Ravitz (11:34 AM)
He's semi-back and he's in the top 10, though not sure exactly where.
Brian (Dirty Jerz)
Maroney was my 1st round pick and he is killing me! Where you see him the rest of the way, and is a WR like Fitzgerald fair value in a trade?
Nate Ravitz (11:36 AM)
All things being equal, I'd deal Maroney for Fitzgerald in a heartbeat.
Jason (Paducah,KY)
What up Nate? You should kick Berry to the curb and just have Stephania!! Anyways, would you trade Jacobs for MJD? Thanks!
Nate Ravitz (11:38 AM)
I'm trying!!!! That's an interesting deal. If MJD is healthy I'd do it. Have to wait to see the news on him.
Jeff (NY)
Nate, you're a tough man to reach!! Drop Crumpler who is on bye for D. Lee or Scheffler?
Nate Ravitz (11:39 AM)
I'd rather not drop him, but if you have no one else you're willing to cut, I don't hate the idea. I'd pick up Lee over Tony.
JOHN (CHICAGO)
Getting a hot blondes phone number is less difficult than getting you to answer one of my questions.....
Michael (Louisiana)
Name Game - Welker or Marshall? (PPR)
Nate Ravitz (11:40 AM)
Welker.
eddie (cleveland, oh)
nate -- you say it's time to trade mcnabb, but for all his owners, who are some of the "non-obvious" qb's that should be better than mcnabb over the last 10 weeks? who are your top 10 qb's for the last 10 weeks of the season?
Nate Ravitz (11:42 AM)
No top 10, but I like Hasselbeck, Eli and Big Ben better than McNabb
Knot Workin
Please answer my question before my boss notices! Is Brady a sell EXTREMELY high after week 11 or do you see Billicheck continue to run up the score and risk injury?
Nate Ravitz (11:43 AM)
Brady is the No. 1 player in fantasy from here on out. I wouldn't trade him for anything less than a top 4 RB AND a viable replacement QB
Chris (MI)
Why no top 10? Is that "insider" content?
Nate Ravitz (11:44 AM)
No. It just takes up a lot of time and people want more question answered. Maybe I'll come to next week's chat prepared with a top 10.
Frank (NY)
Does a possible QB switch in NY affect Coles numbers?
Nate Ravitz (11:45 AM)
I think it does. People are going to think Clemens' better arm is good for Coles, but as a long-time Jets and Coles fan, I'll tell you that he and Pennington have extremely good timing and chemistry, and I think a QB change would hurt him.
Bob Cincinnati Ohio
Greg Jennings...? you mentioned you were not a fan.. he scored three weeks in a row until Washington?
Nate Ravitz (11:45 AM)
So? What does that say about the future?
John (San Diego)
NAte a little please. Not looking for a top 10 but can you just rank these three going forward? Gore, Jones-Drew and Kevin Jones. Thanks
Nate Ravitz (11:45 AM)
1. Gore 2. Jones-Drew 3. Jones
Nick (Cleveland)
Tell Romeo Crennel that the Browns aren't contenders. Derek Anderson has been one of the best QBs in the league. I think you underestimate how badly Romeo Crennel wants to keep his job. There's no way he turns to Quinn this year because he could end up fired. He has to play the guys that give him the best chance to win and Derek Anderson is obviously that guy. He's scored more fantasy points than Carson Palmer and Peyton Manning so I don't know what you're smoking. The only way Quinn starts this year is if Derek Anderson gets hurt or Romeo Crennel gets fired and management forces the issue. Otherwise Romeo's going to ride Anderson as long as he can.
Nate Ravitz (11:47 AM)
I don't smoke. However, of all teams in the league, the Browns seem to have on-field personnel decisions made by the front office, and the front office drafted Quinn, and they want to see what he can do.
Bryan V (C-Bus, OH)
Why do you have to justify previous answers, such as your thoughts on Anderson and Greg Jennings? Why not answer different questions instead of wasting time? Questions such as... Would you bench Colston this week for Hilliard or Randle-El?
Nate Ravitz (11:48 AM)
You'd be amazed at how similar every start/bench/trade question looks and how appealing it is to engage in something different. Plus, people like the ongoing conversation. That said, I'd play Colston. (and let this be a lesson as to why this question got answered)
Eric (San Antonio) to Nick (Cleveland)
I don't think coaches typically make decisions on how many fantasy points their players score....
Nate Ravitz (11:48 AM)
Take that!
Jake (Atlanta)
I'm a Colston owner, I'd bench him for my grandmother at this point...and yes, she's dead.
Nate Ravitz (11:49 AM)
My condolences?
Neil (Athens)
Do you see Marvin Harrison returning as a top 10 receiver, and what do you think the value of Chris Henry (CIN)will be?
Nate Ravitz (11:50 AM)
Yes on Harrison, and not top 30 for Henry, though he will have one or two big games.
Cori (NJ)
I love fantasy football! And the Colts defense. The score was 95.5 me, the guy I was playing had 98. Jags fumble on the last play of the game and I win 98.5 to 98. I could lose a game like this next week, but seeing as how I'm on the good side of it for now, I'm gonna enjoy it for as long as it lasts.
Nate Ravitz (11:51 AM)
Congrats
Liz (Los Angeles)
Would you consider trading Addai now for really high value before it looks like he's completely sharing carries?
Nate Ravitz (11:52 AM)
Sure, but you'd have to get someone like Parker, Randy Moss or an equivalent package in return.
Kevin (NY)
are you an analyst or a moderator? answer some questions you bum
Nate Ravitz (11:53 AM)
I'm an analyst. There's an answer for ya!
AMY (Columbus)
COME ON NATE! You post people's opinions instead of answering important questions like... H.Ward and Deangelo Williams for Brandon Marshall? Veto-able????
Nate Ravitz (11:53 AM)
Bad, but not vetoAble
Abe (Detroit)
Nate analyze this, i got burned with Ronnie Brown injury but luckily have wavier prioity to get Chatman, I dont want to chance it again should i drop D. Ward for Turner being an LT owner?
Nate Ravitz (11:54 AM)
Depends a little on your No. 3 and 4 RBs, but I probably would not do it. Better chance of Ward having value than Turner.
Jay (NYC)
Going back to the Gore, MJD, and Jones question... even with their so call injuries this week?
Nate Ravitz (11:55 AM)
I assumed the question was for the year, and Jones isn't the healthiest guy around.
Joe, Pa
Chambers to SD ... better fantasy boost to Antonio Gates or Chris Chambers?
Nate Ravitz (11:55 AM)
Boost to neither one.
Roy, Rocktoberville
Nate...Is Big Ben good enough to carry me through, or is an upgrade to Anderson recommended? Would Jacobs for Anderson be giving up too much? I have Westbrook and Addai...
Nate Ravitz (11:56 AM)
I don't think Anderson is an upgrade over Big Ben.
SHELLI (Louisville KY)
HOW DO SOME PEOPLE GET THEIR QUSTIONS POSTED 45 TIMES AND OTHERS NEVER??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Nate Ravitz (11:57 AM)
Because there are 2,000 questions, and I pay little to no attention to the name on the question, since people change em all the time.
Jason (Boston)
S'up Nate! Should every DEF bye week now be solved by whoever faces the Dolphins? And will this be a season with both a 16-0 team and an 0-16 team?
Nate Ravitz (11:57 AM)
I think there's a better chance at 16-0 than 0-16. But the takeaway is that you can pickup a good-matchup defense and get away with it almost every week.
Sal (PA)
I am now on my knees begging for your help. Woudl you trade away McGahee, Garcia & Evans for Palmer, Benson & Colston in a keeper league? I am hurting at 3-4 and in 5th place right now. I am concerned because of Benson not performing well. I have Henry, McGahee, S. Young & Green at RB and Eli & Garcia at QB. Would the deal be better if I coudl get the other guy to part with Stephen Jackson instead?
Nate Ravitz (11:58 AM)
Please don't beg. Your question is too long, and you can't spell Steven Jackson, but I will show mercy. I would absolutely make that first deal.
Mark (Chicago)
Nate, you know your stuff pretty well. This week: Lamont or Lendale White?
Nate Ravitz (11:59 AM)
Thank you. The rare compliment! I'll take LenDale White now that it seems Jordan is sharing time with Rhodes.
Steve (Trenton Area)
Is Santana Moss a possibility for a late, late, late sleeper? I know he was talent, but I'm starting to think this year is a bust. Any thoughts to the contrary?
Nate Ravitz (12:00 PM)
No player in the league is more likely to have a no-catch game and a 180-yard, 3-TD game in the same season as Moss. But you're playing with fire when you start him.
Aaron (Cincinnati, OH)
What time will the podcast be posted today?
Nate Ravitz (12:01 PM)
Probably 12:30 or 1. Been a little later lately.
Steve (LA)
Natorade ? would you deal either Jones (of the T or K variety) for Muhsin Muhammad?
Nate Ravitz (12:01 PM)
Definitely not.
Scott Engel (White Castle)
Currently have Kitna and Bulger on my roster. Should I stand pat or look to upgrade with Schaub, Lemon or Warner?
Nate Ravitz (12:02 PM)
I would stand pat, Scotty.
Jill Ravitz
Nate: answer this question or I will date Matt. Who would you rather have - Fast Willie or MJD?
Nate Ravitz (12:02 PM)
Fast Willie and it's not close.
Nate Ravitz (12:03 PM)
Time for me to go kids. Check out the TMR's chat at 3:00 pm for more fantasy goodness... or drivel. Either way, should be fun!
