Bob ( Ohio)
would you drop Ryan Grant for P. Holmes?
Scott Engel (11:01 AM)
Good morning everyone! Holmes may only get a split workload and won't be ready to produce outstanding numbers - but he should get more TD chances than Grant, so yes
Mike (Marietta, GA)
How do you rank the replacments: Fargas, M. Morris, Dayne, Holmes, Betts, Koby Smith.
Scott Engel (11:04 AM)
Fargas is now a starter, tthen Holes and Smith who are on even ground, then Dayne, as Green can't stay healthy, Betts and Morris - Alexander will play next Monday
John (Kingston, ON)
Julius Jones for Lawrence Maroney (keeper league)...is this a fair trade?
Scott Engel (11:05 AM)
I don't think it's overturnable - Jones could end up as a starter somewhere else next year
Ben (Baton Rouge, LA)
Surely Bulger will have a field day against the Saints. Pick up Bruce or Bennett?
Scott Engel (11:06 AM)
Bulger is not looking good enough to have a field day against anyone - I would look for other WRs - the Saints D has also played much better overall recently
Brad (Chicago)
David Patten seems to have turned into the #2 on the surging Saints ... is it worth dropping Bowe for Patten?
Scott Engel (11:07 AM)
I would keep Bowe, who is a big-play guy and will return this week - but also keep Patten - cut someone else and keep both
Gordon (Memphis)
TRADE ADVICE: Would you trade Fast Willie Parker for Peterson? Who has better playoff sked? Sitting at 7-2 with LT, and Brady, don't want to be guilty of overanalyzng here...
Scott Engel (11:09 AM)
I don't know if Peterson's owner would give him up for Parker - I wouldn't - and matchups mean less with excellent players like Peterson
george (boston)
I'm a Brady owner but I'm 4-5 and currently out of the playoffs. One owner would give me Addai and Brees for Brady. I need to do this, right?
Scott Engel (11:10 AM)
I would take it if you have a hole at RB - Brees has certainly turned it around
Dan (Columbus)
Scotty!! How much is Engram's value hurt by Branch and Hackett's return??
Scott Engel (11:11 AM)
It is more affected by Branch, who returns to flanker and moves Engram back in the slot, where he will be much less productive
Bill (evanston)
You said yesterday that Lee Evans wasn't a reliable fantasy starter. What does that mean? In what size league do you mean? What if 36 WRs are started every week? 24?
Scott Engel (11:15 AM)
That simply means you cannot dpend on him to produce good numbers every wek and he will be very inconsistent the rest of the year - in leagues where you start only two WRs he would only ocasionally crack my lineup
Kelvin (Dayton)
The LT and A. Peterson owner needs a WR and I have Wes Welker, Reggie Wayne, and TO. I'm looking to upgrade from SJax. Is there anyway I can get him to make a trade?
Scott Engel (11:17 AM)
You may have a better shot at getting Tomlinson with all the hoopla surrounding Peterson right now - It could take two of those guys to do it
Matt (Charlotte)
Scott, what do you think about J.P. as a bye-week replacement for Brady? Start Priest or Chatman for injured LJ? Thanks!
Scott Engel (11:18 AM)
Losman is a decent fill-in when you consider he faces Miami - Chatman for sure - Priest is very risky and Kolby Smith may be more effective
Matt (Charlotte)
I'm an LJ owner and already have Priest. Do I need to pick up Kolby Smith too?
Scott Engel (11:19 AM)
Yes - Smith is the younger, fresher RB and Holmes may not be able to handle more than 10 carries
Dave (Phoenixville, PA)
Hi Scott, is Justin Fargas a "safe" start at flex for the next few weeks? Do you see Oakland going back to Lamont Jordan?
Scott Engel (11:20 AM)
He is safe for now, and Kiffin has indicated Jordan is now the backup. Fargas must keep playing well to hold onto the job, though
Ryan (MPLS)
Is Hasslebeck/Boldin too much to offer for Brees?
Scott Engel (11:21 AM)
I would keep Hasselbeck - he is playing well, the Seahawks intend to keep throwing a lot, and Branch returns this week
Matt (Long Island)
Should I start Rudi johnson or jesse chatman this week?
Scott Engel (11:22 AM)
I would go with Chatman - he looked pretty good against the Giants and should have a better game this week
tom (hackensack)
what happend to mcgahee with that concussion? pick up musa as a handcuff?
Scott Engel (11:26 AM)
Too early to tell - no reports yet - Smith would appear to be the hanmdcuff, but we have to wait and see
joel (MD)
do you think alexander will turn it around?
Scott Engel (11:28 AM)
I can give no reassurance there, sorry - he is running tentatively and the line is not blocking well for him
Timmeh (NJ)
Thoughts on the Ravens D - are they still elite? Which units do you consider every-week starts?
Scott Engel (11:30 AM)
They are still top 10, but the offense causes them to spend too much time on the field and there are issues in the secondary - more proof you should not draft a D?ST too early as a lot can change every year with 11 players - Pittsburgh and New England are th best in my opinion right now
Joel (Michigan)
Scott, do you like Hackett going forward or was his performance based on the favorable matchup ?
Scott Engel (11:31 AM)
I think he can be a good No. 3 WR - he has better hands than Burleson and has looked better recently than he did in the preseason
Chris (MI)
Berry has ID'd Big Ben as a sell high. I disagree. Do you consider him to be an every-week starter, regardless of matchup?
Scott Engel (11:32 AM)
I respectfully disagree with the TMR- when Ben isn't outstanding, he will be solid - I think he has nothing to prove and it's a mistake to sell high on him
peter (ashville, NC)
do you go matchup Kitna vs. arizona, or recent performance - derek anderson vs. the steelers?
Scott Engel (11:33 AM)
As much as I like Anderson, Pittsburgh has the best D in the league right now and Kitna is a safer play
Jared (CA)
What level receiver would be reasonable to offer for Derek Anderson? (top 10? top 20?)
Scott Engel (11:35 AM)
I think you should get a top 15 guy, but unfortunately, many people still don't believe in Anderson and you may not get proper value in return
Andrew (Boston)
How about Derek Anderson or Donovan for this week? Ugly, I know.
Scott Engel (11:36 AM)
Not ugly - clearly Anderson, who is much better than a lot of people give him credit for
Kyle (PA)
I am lost over what to do with SJax. Would you trade him for Edwards if your RBs were Bush, Jacobs & Parker (start 3) and WRs were Welker, Holmes, Driver & Evans? (start 2)
Scott Engel (11:37 AM)
You likely won't be able to get Edwards for him and I would try to package him with Evans for a different WR
Jonathan (NYC)
Kitna, Lendale and Andre Johnson for Peterson? I have depth at QB and WR. Thanks.
Scott Engel (11:39 AM)
That's stacking quantity for high quality and likely will not get it done - why should the other woner take two decent starters and an injured guy for an elite superstar? The trade only helps you and you need to give up something better to get something
Michael (NY)
Michael Bush.... Any value this year? Stash him away in a dynasty league?
Scott Engel (11:40 AM)
I don't think the Raiders will expose him to any more danger in a lost season - but definitely worth holding onto in dynasty leagues
Jason - Orlando
Kitna at Arizona or Bulger at NO?
Scott Engel (11:41 AM)
Kitna - I do not trust Bulger no matter the matchup, and the Saints D is better than you think
joe memephis
maybe the guy needs a qb cause he has vince young and schaub and is struggling at WR. white isnt a slouch. i cant imagine u win any leagues with ur philosphy
Scott Engel (11:42 AM)
If I had Adrian Peterson I could get a lot better than that - you won't complete many trades that way
Ryan (Tampa, FL)
Trade Steve Smith for LenDale White?
Scott Engel (11:44 AM)
Only if you have a gaping need at RB - do what you must if you have to fill a hole
Ron (((Texas)))
Lost season. In a keeper $100 cap league would you deal Ocho Cinco ($18) for R.Brown ($1) and R.Williams ($9)?
Scott Engel (11:46 AM)
I would keep Johnson - Brown is very unreliable and Williams has been too inconsistent, not just this year
Kyle (PA)
Your right, my Sjax for Edwards offer was declined but countered with Edwards for SJax & Big Ben. Make the deal? Brady is my QB.
Scott Engel (11:47 AM)
I would do that as long a s you can get a decent plug-in for Brady for his bye
Boose (Louisville, KY)
Should I trade K.Jones for Farve? What about CJ and R.Grant for Palmer? I only have Campbell at QB and I need an upgrade before the playoffs.
Scott Engel (11:48 AM)
I think you have a better shot of swinging the Palmer deal, but the other owner may hesitate until we know Johnson is OK for sure
Jake (VA Beach)
What about getting FWP and Marvin H for SJax - I was offered that, but can only keep one for next year. Would you take it?
Scott Engel (11:50 AM)
I would take that and keep prker, while hoping I can still get something from Harrison late this year
Jeremy (Bellevue)
Scott, is Fargas or Dunn a better start over Alexander or S Young this week? And what are your thoughts on Maronet for the rest of the season? Thanks
Scott Engel (11:51 AM)
Fargas is better than Dunn, who will not do that again this year, and I would use him over Alexander, yes - Maroney is overrated and mediocer and will be better next year
Shane (Orlando)
Better Flex This Week? Kolby Smith or Michael Robinson
Scott Engel (11:52 AM)
If Gore sits out again, I would go with Robinson
Will, Boston, MA
Hey Scott. We'll keep things simple: best buy week fill in DST, Lions (Ari), Panthers (Atl), Bills (Mia)? Thanks
Scott Engel (11:53 AM)
Definitely the Lions, which is underrated and deserves more respect
Chris (Baltimore, MD)
Have RB depth and was only starting him occasionally...trade Kevin Jones for Steve Smith...despite the QB woes in Carolina? looks like some favorable matchups down the stretch for the panthers...
Scott Engel (11:54 AM)
It's worth the shot if you have the good RB depth - Smith can turn it around at any time
Jim (Chicago)
Been offered Alexander for R. Grant....take the deal? Other RB's are SJax and Bush. Thanks
Scott Engel (11:55 AM)
I would do that - Alexander has better TD potential the rest of the way
Matt (Chi)
Trade Warner and NYG DEF for Palmer?
Scott Engel (11:57 AM)
I don't think that would net Palmer - Warner is nota good starter right now and the other guy willa sk for an upgrade there - people don't want your throwaways for their top starters
Jason (Orlando)
Speaking of Warner, he has the softest schedule during weeks 15-17 I have seen. Worth picking up if my starter is McNabb?
Scott Engel (11:58 AM)
Schedule alone does not translate into success,a s th eplayer must also be playing well - he is worth the add, but he could still go down at any time and is not playing as well as hoped
Jim (NYC)
K Jones/McNabb too much to give up for Palmer?
Scott Engel (11:59 AM)
No, but the other owner may not want McNabb
Rick (Pittsburgh)
Scott, with the Injury to Ocho Cinco, would I be able to Leverage a deal for Plaxico BUrress by offering D. Anderson staight up? I currently have Palmer as my Other QB and the other guy has McNabb? What are your thoughts?
Scott Engel (12:00 PM)
I don't think Anderson would get you Burress, but Johnson may still play, so hold tight. Thanks a lot everyone!
