Pete (Nebraska)
It sounds bad for Roy Williams and his knee. Evans, Battle & Furry, Calvin Johnson & Bruce are all on the waiver wire. I'm liking Furry considering I'm in a ppr league. Your thoughts? Thanks.
Scott Engel (3:00 PM)
Williams looks like he will be lost for the year. I think Calvin Johnson will get more looks with Willims out - now he really gets a chance to step up and be a No. 1 guy
Bob (DC)
In light of the Roy Williams injury, how would you rank the Lions receivers in fantasy value for the rest of 2007?
Scott Engel (3:02 PM)
Johnson.McDonald ( who already gets targeted a lot) and then Furrey - McDonald already starts and I think CJ may get the promotion now
Joe (New York)
Going against Brady tonight up 29 points. Do I even have a chance, and which side would you rather be on?
Scott Engel (3:03 PM)
I would not be confident - I would rather be on the Brady side - but good luck!
Engelbert (Havana, Cuba)
I am up 17 and my opponent has Matt Stover and NE Defense. I could play Maroney or Derrick Mason at my flex. I had pretty much decided all week to go with Maroney, as he's scored in two straight. But, upon further inspection, I'm kind of leaning towards Mason as the safer option. Maroney has only gotten 6 and 10 carries in the last two games, and isn't even on the field when the Pats pass, which is like 2/3 of the time. Mason, on the other hand, is second in the NFL in "looks" and has been more involved in the offense with Kyle Boller at the helm. On top of that, Baltimore figures to be playing from behind and throwing it quite a bit.
Scott Engel (3:05 PM)
Mason doesn't score and will be a non-factor - I have seen less of "padding the totals" when playing from behind this year, especially against NE - I prefer Maroney
Jacob (B-More)
Assuming Favre doesn't go, who is the better replacement, Frerotte or Rosenfels?
Scott Engel (3:07 PM)
All reports indicate Favre will play and I would not worry
Gabriel (San Jose,CA)
I have C. Taylor and I was thinking of dropping him since he slits carries, but he did well and he is up against the 49ers next week. Should he be played or dropped? Thanks
Scott Engel (3:08 PM)
I would keep him - he will split carries, but still produce pretty good numbers - splitting carries does not mean a guy is useless
Frank(Medford, MA)
What's up buddy? Remember me. My boy Travis Henry had 2 TD's. How'd Selvin Young do? How did I know Henry would play and play a lot? Why I pay to play on ESPN and I read the news blurbs. You should too. Thank you and g'night!
Scott Engel (3:10 PM)
I remember you Frank - and I also remember Henry rushed for less than 50 yards, fumbled, and Denver lost. :)
Matt (Madison)
What does the NYG running back situation look like for week 14?
Scott Engel (3:11 PM)
Early indications are Jacobs will be back, but I would still look for Droughns to get goal-line carries
Adam (Orlando)
Should I drop Cotchery for Gage, Bryant Johnson, or Furrey?
Scott Engel (3:12 PM)
I would get Johnson - bpth Fitz and Boldin hurting in Arizona, making me think about Sean Morey a bit too
Frank(Medford, MA)
Yeah, I really care that Denver lost. This is all about the FANTASY Scott. I was right this time. He carried the ball more then Selvin and he scored 14pts in my ESPN league which sure ain't bad. You are stubborn even in defeat.
Scott Engel (3:14 PM)
I can admit he had two scores but he looked mediocre otherwise and when you fumble that gets you in hot water with Shanahan - congrats on your one good call - now let's move on
Domingo (LA)
LT and MB3 hold down my 2 rb spots, but of S.Young,A.Hall, and R.Droughns, who gets the call at FLEX this week? Or is L.Booker or F.Jackson worth a look?
Scott Engel (3:16 PM)
Lynch may be back and Henry starts as longa she is healthy, so use Droughns for possible TDs
Don (Olympia WA)
Scott, I need help. Because of next week's matchups, I'm thinking I have to sit Addai and Parker, and go with C. Taylor and Fargus. Talk me out of it if you can. Thanks
Scott Engel (3:18 PM)
I would not sit Addai - Balt D is overrated - Fargas I do not like against GB so it has ot eb Parker - Taylor is not on the level of those 3 with Peterson back
Anthony (Long Island, NY)
Hey Scott If I recall you were not to high on Peterson (Chi) did yesterdays game change your mind?
Scott Engel (3:19 PM)
Actually, I did like him, and do going forward as a strong, versatile runner
Jim (Cambridge, MA)
Hackett worth a waiver wire pick up if I've got a bye in week 15 so I might be able to use him as my WR3 in week 16 and 17 (hopefully)? My WR3 options now are R Brown, Javon Walker, and Gage. Thanks!
Scott Engel (3:20 PM)
Hackett is out indefinitely - I wouldn't risk it
Eric (Seattle)
Shanahan said he wanted to use Young more, but he got hurt. Henry wasn't going to be used that much... and his yards per, against a crappy run D is not promising for future use.
Jonah (SF)
Frank was not right, he was lucky. Shanahan said postgame that Henry was supposed to be held to "a handful of plays" and that Andre Hall was just unable to go. Young's arm injury paved the way for Henry to not just be a footnote. Unless Frank's got a crystal ball, he is full of hot air.
Greg Guido (NYC)
Is Hines Ward the best WR of all time in Steeltown?
Scott Engel (3:21 PM)
Not as good as Swann or Stallworth - hes no Louis Lipps, though!
Hank (Trenton, NJ)
Need help! Have Shaub as my QB. Now that he is down, which one would you pick to replace him: Rosenthul, Frerote, Redman, Tavaris Jackson?
Scott Engel (3:23 PM)
Yech - if Frerotte keeps starting, he is the one i would take, otherwise, Rosenfels
JoJo (Boston MA)
If Henry ends up suspended and Selvin can't go next week, who is more likely to get the start: Hall or Sapp? Also, is Gado worth picking up?
Scott Engel (3:24 PM)
I would say hall if he is healthy enough, then Sapp - Gado worth the add with Chatman banged up
Terry (Fort Benning)
Think I will be okay with Warner and McNabb for the Playoffs? I also have Garrard or Sage as options.
Scott Engel (3:25 PM)
I would drop McNabb for Garrard, who is much more dependable
Jon: (Newmarket NH)
I chose poorly this weekend but Jamal Lewis got it done. Its round 2 of the playoffs, do I stick with Lewis against the Jets, or make the switch to Grant against Oakland?
Scott Engel (3:26 PM)
If you could use both I would, but I would give the slight edge to Lewis
Pat, NY
who's better from here on out, f.taylor, a.peterson (chi), d. foster?
Scott Engel (3:27 PM)
Peterson - he is the most versatile - but Taylor is also playing well, so do not overlook him
Joe (MA)
I need one! Pls rank for the remaining of the year? C Brown, J Chatman, or M Pittman?
Scott Engel (3:29 PM)
Chatman for sure if he can stay in the games, otherwise, start scouting the free agent list
Dave (Dallas)
Scott, I am up 64 points, but my opponent has Brady, Moss, and Gostkowski.. is that enough of a cushion?
Scott Engel (3:29 PM)
Not enough to make you feel quite safe - but good luck!
Lance (New York)
Is Santonio Holmes going to play Week 14?
Scott Engel (3:30 PM)
Too early to tell - we might not know anything more until at least Wednesday
Chris (The playoff bubble)
Have a 6 point lead and the other guy has got Stover going tonight...winner gets the last playoff spot. With the windy conditions and the Ravens lack of O...think I still have a chance?
Scott Engel (3:31 PM)
That does not look good - Stover could be ALL of the Baltimore offense tonight
Mike (Philly)
Down by 54...I have Brady, Welker and NE D. Chances?
Scott Engel (3:33 PM)
Very good, especially with three New England slots in your lineup
JQ (Lansing, MI)
Eli has looked horrible ... think he's likely to turn it around or do you think Vince Young can carry my team to the playoffs?
Scott Engel (3:34 PM)
I would rather go with Young, who can also run for scores
Jason (Chicago)
Instead of giving everybody's chances. Why not give us some projections for tonight?
Scott Engel (3:36 PM)
Pats 41, Ravens 10 Brady - 4 TD passes, Maroney 1 TD McGahee 1 TD run 1 Brady INT, 3 Boller INTs
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I've been eliminated from the playoffs in one league. I have a few guys on my roster (AP for one) that can put up big points. Is it O.K. for me to release them all, signing non-factor players, so that the playoff teams can put in claims on them to enhance their rosters? It's a non-keeper league.
Scott Engel (3:37 PM)
That can ruin a league - your roster should be locked once your season is over - they have to go with who they have
Eric - CT
So who you got catching those four Brady TDs tonight???
Scott Engel (3:38 PM)
Two to Moss, one to Welker, one to Watson
George (NJ)
What do you think of Redman from Atlanta? Worth a late pickup?
Scott Engel (3:39 PM)
No - if future opponents know he is starting and watch film on him, he will struggle
Rob (Miami, FL)
How are Marshawn Lynch and Brandon Jacobs looking for this weekend? Should I pick up Jackson and Droughns?
Scott Engel (3:41 PM)
Too early to tell - when guys start practicing on Wed we will get a better picture - looking better for Jacobs right now - Jackson is a good add
Ralph (Bronx)
Is Portis gonna play Thursday? Worth picking up Betts if he isn't?
Scott Engel (3:43 PM)
I have not seen anything yet that would indicate he is out
Richard (Austin, TX)
For Week 14, do I go with Stallworth vs. PIT or A. Gonzalez vs. BAL?
Scott Engel (3:44 PM)
I would go with Gonzalez if Harrison is still out
Jordan (OH)
I'm up 14.1 point my opponent has Willis McGahee and Laurence MAroney going? Am I doomed to miss the playoffs, Zoltar, err Scott?
Scott Engel (3:45 PM)
Not looking good for you with two RBs going for him - but I hope I am wrong for your sake
Mark (IN)
What do you think of Ryan Grant for next year? Worth a keeper slot over a Clinton Portis or Brandon Jacobs?? Thanks.
Scott Engel (3:46 PM)
I would keep Portis, still quite young and will be better if Washington gets more playmakers around him next year
Wes (Atlanta)
Scott, would you even consider keeping Ryan Grant and loosing a 10th round pick over keeping LT and losing my first?
Scott Engel (3:48 PM)
I would consider it, but Tomlinson is far more provenm and I would sacrifice the first rounder - if you don't use your first-rounder on him, some one else will
Marc (Toronto, Canada)
Favre is likely to play, but this injury is similiar to the one he sustained last year and he played poorly after that. Would you start Favre this week or go with Warner in the first round of the playoffs?
Scott Engel (3:50 PM)
Favre also had lesser weaponry and a worse syupporting cast last year - if your other option is Warner, you can afford to eb careful with Favre, but I would not sit him for a lesser QB
Mike (Fresno)
I am down 33 but have Brady going tonight. (My opponent's lineup is finished for the week.) How should I feel about things right now?
Scott Engel (3:51 PM)
You should feel pretty good, but just keep in mind you can't control what happens and just watch what happens and roll with it
brian (DC)
Sit Favre for Anderson week 14?
Scott Engel (3:52 PM)
I would do that - I regularly start Anderson over Favre
Marc (Toronto, Canada)
So I finished in 8th and get the privelage to play the first place team in the first round of the playoffs. Obviously, he has Brady. Do you agree that if there was a week to be playing Brady, it would be this week? If anyone can slow him down, it's the Steelers, right?
Scott Engel (3:53 PM)
I say don't worry about your opponent at all - you cannot control who he starts - put in your best possible lineup and remember anything can happen
bob (houston)
scott, you seem to be in a great modd today. good fantasy weekend for your boys?
Scott Engel (3:54 PM)
"Every day above ground is a good day." Peter Criss
Matt (Cleveland)
Warner at Seattle sounds pretty bad to me... with a Thursday roster lock I was even thinking of going for Clemens home to Cleveland.
Scott Engel (3:55 PM)
Clemens is not a good enough fantasy QB ot consider him over Warner - that is matchup overanalysis
Mike (DC)
I have been starting both Brady and Welker most of the year, but the Pittsburgh match-up scares me a little. Should I bench Welker and play Colston and Galloway at WR to help diversify my risk?
Scott Engel (3:56 PM)
Never bench your Pats, regardless of matchup - it's the Steelers who should be scared
Joe (Squarejaw, NY)
Did you just quote the WORST member of Kiss?
Scott Engel (3:57 PM)
He's one of the originals - so he is not the worst.
Todd (Flagstaff)
Have you ever played no body at a position if you had the lead going into Monday night. I have Stover and I am up by 2 points and want to know if I should pull him in case he misses.
Scott Engel (3:58 PM)
Not a bad idea at all - it will guaranteee you the victory
Bill - NE
Rody White's day yesterday, more to follow or once in a season?
Scott Engel (3:59 PM)
White has been performing well for several week s- he is already proven
Bob (Madison, WI)
Anthony Gonzalez over Burress or Boldin this week?
Scott Engel (4:00 PM)
Boldin looks iffy, and I don't trust Burress anymore - yes, Gonzalez
Tony (NYC)
Sideny Rice, worth a look, do you think jackson can continue to get him the ball. Thanks SE
Scott Engel (4:01 PM)
Definitely - he has scored in three of his past four games - Thanks a lot everyone!
