Buzzmaster (12:02 PM)
Kidder is here!
Keith Kidd (12:03 PM)
Hey guys we've got some great matchups this week, as one team will get eliminated tonight when the Skins and Bears meet tonight. let's get rolling! Brought to you by the Buzzmaster!
Martin (Middletown CT)
Do the Cowboys win out? Only Washington looks like a threat. They always play Dallas tough.
Keith Kidd (12:05 PM)
The only way they do not win out is when they clinch homefield and they choose to sit everyone on the last weekend. That is the only way. I just do not see them losing, especially this weekend against Detroit.
Do the Eagles have a shot at that last playoff spot?
Keith Kidd (12:06 PM)
I do not see it happening. Even though McNabb is expected to come back this weekend, he has not shown me he can get this team in the playoffs, based on his performance. Buyt you have to love the way Brian Westbrook plays every week. I think the Eagles will have a difficult time matching up with the Giants' spread offenses. But the Giants go, as Eli goes.
Kidder, this has to be the simplest question in the chat today. Pats or Steelers this weekend, who wins? Score?
Keith Kidd (12:07 PM)
I think the Pats win this game at home. Obviosuly this is a great test for the Pats who have shown some weaknesses in the last two weeks. To me they put this one asway in the second half. 31-17.
Keith Kidd (12:08 PM)
Although I would love to see a much closer game. It is a great test for the Steelers, but I have a problem with their three loses this year, coming against the Broncos, Jets, and Cardinals.
What in the world is Green Bay going to do if Favre has any arm problems this Sunday?
Keith Kidd (12:10 PM)
Did you not see Rodgers play agaisnt the Cowboys? The one thing I got out of that game, is there might be a QB in the future in Rodgers. He was very impressive in that West Coast system. But I would be shocked if Favre does not play this weekend.
Richard (Baton Rouge)
What's wrong with the Saints? It seems nothing is going right for them compared to last year when they got all the breaks.
Keith Kidd (12:11 PM)
It is just one of those season for them. But I stil could not understand the questionable play call against Tampa. And this team cannot run the ball and on defense they give up big plays. Those two things will not allow you to win too many games.
Kidder, Thoughts on tonight Bears vs Redskins game tonight?
Keith Kidd (12:12 PM)
I do not know how the Redskins will overcome the passing of Sean Taylor, and when you look at the Bears they have been win one lose one all year, and they lost last weekend, so I am thinking Bears 24 Redskins 20.
Who gets the last AFC wild card spot, the Titans or the Browns?
Keith Kidd (12:13 PM)
The Browns, because they have the easier road to travel. The Titans' schedule is much more difficult.
Keith, What are your thoughts on the Bills rookie QB Trent Edwards? Do you think he will end up being a real good QB?
Keith Kidd (12:16 PM)
I like him a lot better than I like Losman, and I think he has good upside. I see enough intangibles out of him that make me beleive he has a very good future in this league. The offense has been a little too conservative because oif his inexperience, but I think they will open it up as he gains that experience, and you have to love the RB he has in Lynch and the explosive WR in Evans. The Bills need to go out this offseason and get a WR or TE though to help their QB and play off Evans.
Chris (Boston, MA)
Keith, what position do the Giants target in the draft next year? Some of their weaknesses on given weeks, will not be replaced (QB)
Keith Kidd (12:18 PM)
I think they will address the corner spot opposite Aaron Ross by going after Asante Samuel this offseason. And then target positions in the draft will be OLB, OT, DT, and S. Keep an eye on a guy like Dan Connor from Penn State.
Keith, are we starting to see why the Vikings like Tarvaris Jackson?
Keith Kidd (12:20 PM)
Absolutely. He has been very impressive in the last few weeks. This offense has put up over 80 points in the last two weeks, and in the past 8 games they have 21 TD, and +400 yard games four times. So everyone is in tune with Childress' West Coast offense. Let's face it man, what a great time to get hot in December.
Keith, if Cam Cameron keeps his job, does he gut the Dolphins' veteran corps and trade of Taylor and Thomas? This is going to be a looooonnnnnggggg offseason for the them isnt it. What would you do?
Keith Kidd (12:23 PM)
The biggest question is IF Cameron keeps the job, and I do not know if that is going to happen. The only place you can go at this point is up, so I do think they will move some vets, while building in the draft. In this league you can turn things around in a year, but not with this team. it is going to take a few years.
Keith, Aaron Rodgers pulled a hammy this week in practice. He's probably out this week. Craig Nall is taking the practice snaps after recently signing. I think that is what the above question was implying when asking what the Pack would do without Favre.
Keith Kidd (12:24 PM)
Thanks for the insight. Regradless Favre is going to play this week. I was talking more about the future.
To what level is Mangini responsible for the Jets performance this year. I am not hearing the "Man-Genius" comments that much anymore...
Keith Kidd (12:27 PM)
When you are a head coach in the NFL you are responsible for your teams performance week in and week out. However, even though Mangini did a great job coaching last season, this team was not very good. Based on what I have seen in the second half of the season, the Jets are starting to play better. Let's see how they finish the season and then they are going to have to make some offseason moves to improve the team, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.
Wayne (Moss Beach, CA)
Has Norv done enough to save his job?
Keith Kidd (12:28 PM)
At the start of the year, I thought if this team did not get to the AFC championship game they would have underachived. But according to what I have heard, it seems as if he has done enough to save his job. This could be a pretty dangerous in the postseason.
Will Jason Garrett be a head coach somewhere next year? What can Jerry do to keep him?
Keith Kidd (12:31 PM)
Great question! After Bill Cohwer decides he does not want to coach then Garrett will be one of the top candiates for a head coaching job this offseason, along with Rex Ryan in Baltimore. There is no doubt that his body of work in Dallas has been impressive, in the aggressiveness of the play calling and the development of Tony Romo. Another name to keep an eye on is Josh McDaniels in New England, no one knows much about him but he is very very impressive.
Johnny, Washington D.C.
What is your take on Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs? Has the game past him by?
Keith Kidd (12:32 PM)
How can you not love the things that Joe Gobbs has accompinshed as a Hall of Fame coach. Obviously they have had some questionable decisions as far as game management since his return, but to me he is a great coach and he has a great staff, and based on what this team went through last week, I do not see how the coaches coached and the team played against Buffalo.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
KK, do you think Marty Schottenheimer comes back next season or is he content being away from the sidelines?
Keith Kidd (12:34 PM)
Based on what Marty did in San Diego I could see him coming back and coaching again. When you talk about coaches that can turn teams around and get them rolling, he is the guy. Unfortunently, his postseason record is not very good and that is where coaches are most often judged.
Vic (Boston, MA)
Kidder. Who/What position do the Pats go after in the draft?
Keith Kidd (12:35 PM)
Based on where they are picking they will take the best available player. This team could have the number two pick! Are you kidding me? They could take Darren McFadden! After that they need to address the defensive side of the ball LB or CB. They may also look at an OT in the first round.
Bear (30th Street)
What are your thoughts on the Giants/Eagles game this weekend?
Keith Kidd (12:37 PM)
I like the Giants this week. The Eagles have lost two tough games back-to-back, and I just think the win over Chicago was huge for the Gmen. But this game will come down to Eli Manning and his ability to make plays in the passing game.
Seth (Albany, NY)
Will the Ravens have enough in the tank to give the Colts a game?
Keith Kidd (12:38 PM)
Man, great question. I think defensively this team will put up a great effort, and I think the offense gained confidence off what they did to the Pats. But it will be very hard for them. But I think they will have enough in the tank.
Steve (Rochester, NY)
Given that Monte Kiffin's contract is up after the 2007 season there is some talk that he may join his son Lane's staff in Oakland. Do you put any weight in this?
Keith Kidd (12:41 PM)
Anything is possible, hopefully he can help his son out on offense because the defense has not been the problem in Oakland this year. Yes, the defense is not as good as last year, but this offense has out the defense in many difficult situations throughout the season. Did you see them kick two 50+ FG last week, that alone messes up the defense as far as field position.
If Fox is fired in Carolina will he land another HC job right away or wait a year? Also who would Carolina look to for the job?
Keith Kidd (12:43 PM)
I would be shocked if he got fired because he is still under contract and the club owed him $20 mil. If he does get fired, I think the Giants may be an option for him if the Gaints were to falter here at the end of the season and they get rid of Coughlin. I think this might be a place for Bill Cowher if he wants to coach, and he would want total control, and I do not know if they would give that to him.
Do you think JP Losman will end up starting for another football team next season?
Keith Kidd (12:44 PM)
Yes I do; based on the QB sitautions in this league I could see a few teams being interested in him.
Do you think this is one of McNabb's last games for Philly? If so, where does he play next year?
Keith Kidd (12:45 PM)
I do not think it is one of his last games. I just think based on the ACL injury, it takes 2 years to comeback from it. Yes I know he has not performed at a high level, but you just do not give away top players, and I think he still has some time left. If the Eagles were to shop him they would be asking for a lot of compensation.
Chris (Baltimore, MD)
Kidder, Where do you see the Ravens upgrading in the off season - cornerback? quarterback? What are their big needs?
Keith Kidd (12:46 PM)
Matt Ryan from BC, would be a good option for them if they are in the top 10. I think they will also address the CB position and LB. Those are the positions that come to mind.
Dan (Buffalo, NY)
Kidder, how much love will Romeo get in the Coach of the Year race?
Keith Kidd (12:48 PM)
I think he will get a lot of love. No one tought he would make it past the bye. And this team has 7 wins and could get two or three more. That to me would clinch it for him. The Browns need to tear up his deal and give him a brand new one. He has been amazing this year, along with Mike McCarty in Green Bay.
Keith Kidd (12:49 PM)
But if the Pats go 19-0, how can you not give it to Bill Belichick?
Which franchise has the brightest future? With young players I mean, the Pats are great but rely heavily on older Veterans. Is there a team on the verge of a dynasty out there?
Keith Kidd (12:50 PM)
The Green Bay Packers. This is a very young, talented team. They either are, or one of the yougest teams in the NFL.
Do you think the Bears re sign Lance Briggs this offseason or does he end up on another team?
Keith Kidd (12:51 PM)
I do not think they will resign him. They would have to give him a lot of money. But he has played at a very consistent level this season.
Will the Steelers miss Joey Porter's leadership and bravado in the big game versus the Pats?
Keith Kidd (12:52 PM)
No, because Anthony Smith has already guranteed and Pittsburgh victory.
Justin (Wilmington, MA)
Hi Keith--who do you think projects as the best NFL prospect: Tebow, Ryan, or Brennan?
Keith Kidd (12:54 PM)
I think Matt Ryan does. Colt Brennan has to fit a specific offensive system, and I am still trying to fiigure out how teams will use Tebow at the NFL level, even though he is very talented. It comes down to whether it's Urban Meyers system that makes Tebow the player he is.
Anthony Smith (Pittsburgh)
Does anyone other than my mama even know me?
Wouldn't Briggs look great in a Raiders uni?
Keith Kidd (12:54 PM)
Absolutely. Especially in Ryan's system.
Is Brennan a good fit for detroit since they have the WR and they throw alot
Keith Kidd (12:55 PM)
Yeah, but remember they took Drew Stanton last year in the second round, and this team has a lot of different needs.
Ryan (San Diego)
With Cromartie now starting and matching up with Moss, a rejuvinated aggressive defense and the ability to pound the ball...do the Chargers stand a chance in a rematch in NE?
Keith Kidd (12:57 PM)
If the Chargers can keep winning games, and this is a big one in Tennessee. They will be very dangerous in the playoffs. This is still one of the most talented teams in the league. And they did some things on defense recently that was very similar to what they did with Wade Philips last year, as far as generating pressure.
Tony (Sacramento, CA)
Will D.A. be starting for the Cleveland Browns next year?
Keith Kidd (12:58 PM)
Why wouldn;t he be starting. He has been one of the great stories in the NFL this season.
Do you agree with what Ron Jaworski has said about the Bills rookie QB Trent Edwards? Jaws said he hasnt seen a rookie QB(Edwards) play so well, with so much poise since Tom Brady did it in 2001? That is a great compliment for Edwards! What do you think?
Keith Kidd (1:00 PM)
Ron has tremendous insight on any player. I love lsitening to him on Monday nights and the way he describes the game to the fans through his eyes. He is one of the best.
All the hype Edwards is getting and watch them lose to Miami this week!
Keith Kidd (1:01 PM)
Hey it's been great chatting with the Nation! Thanks for all the great questions and good luck to all your teams. Kidder.
