Alex (Yuba City, CA)
Who do you play at flex, Rudi or Fitz?
Scott Engel (3:00 PM)
Fitz is not 100 percent and Rudi has a good matchup, so use Johnson
Mike (York, PA)
Scott...never had my question answered before. Now would be a great time! With expected high winds in several games, how much effect would it have in your opinion between guys like Evans, Mason, B. Johnson, and C. Henry. Ppr league and I need 2... Winds expected in Cleveland and Miami.
Scott Engel (3:03 PM)
Well, some teams go with the wind for ahalf and let's remember these are professionals - I still go with Evans and Johnson - weather can be a factor, but it can also be overrated in some situations
I know Garcia is back, but should I play him over Warner?
Scott Engel (3:04 PM)
I like Garcia in his return, but I like Warner's matchup and he has thrown a lot of TD passes recently, even with the five-INT game last week.
Dave (Charlotte, NC)
Fitz or Colston?
Scott Engel (3:05 PM)
Colston - he is not dealing with injury concerns like Fitzgerald
@ the flex: Stecker, Edge or Holt?
Scott Engel (3:07 PM)
I would certainly rely on Holt now that Bulger has been given the go-ahead to return
Cincy D on the road versus a 3rd string QB or Giants D at home versus Washington
Scott Engel (3:08 PM)
Giants - they are simply a better unit and Cincinnati is no guarantee to stop anyone
Scott, Selvin killed me last night, so I need this choice to be perfect. Edge or Fargas?
Scott Engel (3:09 PM)
Fargas is banged up and has a tough matchup, so use Edge
Am I crazy to start streaky guys like Patten and Gaffney over gimpy guys like Holmes and Coles?
Scott Engel (3:10 PM)
Gaffney is playing well and Patten is much less reliable. I would use Gaffney over them, but not Patten
Bart (San Diego)
How much will the weather affect New England's passing game? Enough that I should bench Welker and start B. Jacobs at flex?
Scott Engel (3:11 PM)
I would not bench Welker _ NE does not run the ball well and if they scale back the passing game Welker will catch a lot of shorter passes
At the flex: 85 or Chester Taylor?
Scott Engel (3:12 PM)
I would use Taylor - he has continued to play well in a time share and the Cincy passing game has been unreliable
Do you think kevin faulk will run the ballon 3rd and short?
Scott Engel (3:13 PM)
I think if you are desperate, Heath Evans is their best short-yardage and goal-line option
Giants D or Colts D??
Scott Engel (3:15 PM)
Indy - they will simply dominate against Okland - Indy will stuff the run early and the Oakland WRs cannot challenge their secondary
David, San Jose
Scott, SJax on Sunday or Jacobs? Other than breaking off one big run the last weeks, SJax has not been stellar?
Scott Engel (3:16 PM)
Jacobs has not impressed me much either and Jackson catches passes and is a better goal-line option - I use Jackson
Will I regret benching K. Jones for S. Young?
Scott Engel (3:17 PM)
There is nothing you can do about it now, and Jones has been unreliable - you can still win your game if the rest of your lineup does well
Am I crazy for sitting Brady for Brees in a blizzard? How bad does the weather have to be before I make this move? 20 mph wind?
Scott Engel (3:20 PM)
It's not crazy as Brees is a good start - but the thing with New England is they do not run well and will still have to rely on short and flat passes to move the ball - using Brees is fine, but I would not bench Brady unless I had another top QB
Any chance you start Ryan Grant over Westbrook or All Day? Will Min rest Peterson after their D scores 2 TDs?
Scott Engel (3:23 PM)
I like Grant but Westbrook and Peterson are must-starts no matter who else you have - I can't see Minny restin Adrian as Orton is not a bad game manager and can keep his team in the game
Big Bonnie (SBU)
Would you take Warner over Big Ben in a league where INT don't hurt?
Scott Engel (3:26 PM)
Yes, even ina ny format, especiallyw ith Ben listed as questionable with a shoulder problem in a tough matchup
Couldn't Minny put AD on ice if the game is outta hand? Why risk getting him hurt prior to a playoff run?
Scott Engel (3:28 PM)
In a diviisonla game, I never assume there will be a blowout, and if thre is, I think he will be a bigger part of it this time
Would you start Rudi Johnson over Brandon Jacobs
Scott Engel (3:29 PM)
I like Rudi - good matchup and he has become a more consistent source of TDs recently
Donald Driver (GB)
Am I a good start this week? Or is A. Gonzalez going to be more productive?
Scott Engel (3:30 PM)
I like Gonzalez better - hes a top option for Manning with Harrison out
Hasselbeck or Warner?
Scott Engel (3:31 PM)
Hasselbeck - he is playing very well and will carry the Seattle offense to another win this week
Greg Olsen over Ben Watson? The weather and his ankle is an concern to me.
Scott Engel (3:32 PM)
Watson - if the Pats scale back to a controlled passing game he will be a factor
Sven (Fresno, CA)
Steve Smith vs. SEA with a new QB, or Boldin (assuming he plays) @ NO? First week of the playoffs!
Scott Engel (3:33 PM)
Boldin is very iffy. so I would use Smith
Would you start Chester Taylor along with Peterson? Other options are Edge or K.Jones.
Scott Engel (3:34 PM)
I would not lean too heqvily on one team and use Edge over Taylor - if the Bears stuff the run you fully kill your chances
Gore or Chester Taylor this week?
Scott Engel (3:35 PM)
Gore - he has posted adequate stats recently and I like his matchup
Scott, if you had to predict--what do you see from Brady and Moss this weekend?
Scott Engel (3:36 PM)
Brady - 190 yards 2 TD passes, Moss 60 yards and a TD
I will keep trying and one day you will answer me. I need to start either Lynch or Barber and either Big Ben or Edwards
Scott Engel (3:37 PM)
Lynch is more reliable now that he is healthy again, and use Ben as long as he is good to go despite the shoulder
Here's atough one, KJones or AStecker?
Scott Engel (3:39 PM)
Stecker - he looked good in his first start and Jones is too unreliable
Steve (Portland OR)
Why do you like A. Gonzalez so much more than any other expert? I'm considering him or Mason for 3rd wr, and I like how high you value him, but everyone else says Mason, so I dont know what to do.
Scott Engel (3:41 PM)
I think Gonzalez proved last week he is a very good replacement for Harrison and he definitely has better scoring potential
John (Bay View)
Kitna or Garrard? Thanks!
Scott Engel (3:42 PM)
Garrard- he is much more steady and is the complete opposite of Kitna when it comes to turnovers
Bryan (Chicago, IL)
With Moore possibly starting at QB for Carolina, do I start the Seattle D or play Tampa against the downtrodden Falcons?
Scott Engel (3:43 PM)
Love the Seattle D this week - another outstanding performance from Kerney, Peterson and Tatupu
Derrck, No. Cal.
Bad weather in NY. Would you sit Plaxico for A. Gonzalez? Thanks!
Scott Engel (3:44 PM)
Yup, there is bad weather in NY, but the Giants don't play there :) Gonzalez is a better start regardless of weather - I still don't trust Burress
Bing (Hoboken, NJ)
STECKER OR FRED TAYLOR?
Scott Engel (3:45 PM)
Taylor's Pittsburgh matchup and Stecker's performance last week moves me to use Stecker
N. Burelson, B. Johnson or D. Patten this week and why?
Scott Engel (3:46 PM)
I would go with Johnson if Boldin does not play based on matchups
You say you love the Seattle D this week. What about Pats D in a sloppy, wintery, windy, cold mess of a game on Sunday?
Scott Engel (3:47 PM)
My top defense of the week! The Jets are bad enough, and the weather will make them look even worse!
You like A. Gonzalez, but do you like Cotchery better in a game that the Jets will be behind in?
Scott Engel (3:48 PM)
Not in that weather or with the NE matchup - I haven't seen enough of the "numbers padding" from regular starters this year anyway
Marc (Malden, MA)
Now that Bulger is back, do I start him over Garrard? Do I bench the Packers D for the Bucs D?
Scott Engel (3:49 PM)
I would now go with the Bucs, but Garrarrd is a safe start no matter the matchup
Scott last time then Im giving up here. Who you like this week in a ppr format, Evans or Agonz
Scott Engel (3:50 PM)
Gonzalez I like for more catches, as he has a QB that throws much more frequently
But won't Patten get 7-9 targets with Brees throwing 40 times a game?
Scott Engel (3:53 PM)
Patten has been erratic and Brees spreads the ball around, so Patten is a good, but not top play
Quick hitter eli in bad weather or a banged up rivers?
Scott Engel (3:53 PM)
I would take Rivers, better matchup too
Do i bench my 2 steelers (parker and miller) for fargas and shockey?
Scott Engel (3:55 PM)
I would only bench Miller as Shockey should get targeted more this week after Burress re-emerged last week and should get more defensive attention
Who do you root for?
Scott Engel (3:55 PM)
Seahawks fan since 1983
Dan (queens, NY)
A. Gonzalez or Crayton???
Scott Engel (3:56 PM)
Gonzalez for sure - Crayton is unrleiable, especially for yardage
Scott, the Giants are playing at HOME - that's in NY. Check your sources.
Scott Engel (3:57 PM)
The Meadowlands are in New Jersey - check your map! :)
FWP or Marion Barber? Parker will encounter weather issues as well as a stingy Jax DST...
Scott Engel (3:58 PM)
The jags have lost Stroud and if weather is an issue Pittsburgh will run more, so stick with Parker
You're crazy. AGonz over Plax?! Also, the Giants ARE playing at home, and that IS in NY. Have you heard of "football" before?
Scott Engel (3:59 PM)
Gonzalez is playing very well in place of Harrison and Burress has been way too unreliable lately - I know the Giants are playing a home game, but they aren't playing in New York :)
Stecker or Rudi J in a PPR league. Need to take down my bragging brother...
Scott Engel (4:01 PM)
Stecker is a better pass-catching option out of the backfield with an expanded role
Chris (Help me please!)
Seattle or Steelers D?
Scott Engel (4:02 PM)
I would use the Seahawks, playing very well and getting another soft matchup
I guess Chris thinks the Jets play in NY also! Lightning round- G. Olsen or A. Smith, Gaffney or Battle?
Scott Engel (4:03 PM)
The jest are just plain homeless - Olsen with Orton likely looking to his TEs, and Gaffney in a good matchup for a short score
Antonio (Getting Desperate)
J. Lewis or McGahee?
Scott Engel (4:04 PM)
Close call, but Lewis keeps rolling! Good luck this weekend everyone! See you on Sunday!
