Tim (Columbia, MO)
Please pick a TE for a PPR league. Witten or Scheffler???
Scott Engel (2:58 PM)
Good afternoon everyone! I go with Scheffler when you consider Dallas will likely give their starters significant rest
Tim (Iowa)
Scott - Happy New Year! Reggie Wayne or Colston? Thanks.
Scott Engel (2:59 PM)
The Colts likely won't play Wayne much, so you have to go with Colston
Stuart (Brooklyn, NY)
Hi Scott. Thanks so much for your help this year and Happy New Year to you. Holmes or Mason? Grant or Graham? Ben or Cutler?
Scott Engel (3:00 PM)
Happy New Year to you as well, and everyone in the room. Holmes may be rested a lot, so Mason. Graham and Roethlisberger may not play at all
Kelly (Georgetown KY)
Hi Scott, If Pierre Thomas gets the start against CHI, how do you think he'll do? Thanks!
Scott Engel (3:01 PM)
He has some explosion, and he could get close to 100 yards, I believe
Jose (LA, CA)
I need help at flex: Torry Holt, Reggie Brown, or TJ Duckett.
Scott Engel (3:02 PM)
Duckett should certainly get the most touches of those three and will face GB backups at least for a half
Bill (Monroe, NY)
Hey Scott. Please pick two out of LT, Lendale White, Peterson (Chi) and Kenny Watson. Thanks and Happy New Year!
Scott Engel (3:03 PM)
LT should play enough to get good numbers, and Watson is a must-start with Rudi out
Matt (Chicago)
Scott, in regards to Reggie Wayne I agree with you that Wayne won't be playing much. But I've read in other places that because the Colts are so thin at WR he will actually being playing more than most people think. I'm debating between Wayne and Lee Evans because of this. I'm guessing your advice would be Lee Evans over Wayne
Scott Engel (3:04 PM)
We don;t know anything for sure, but there is a significant risk he won't play a lot, and the best fantasy decisions minimize risk. Use Evans
Chris (Broadview Heights, OH)
In a week 17 championship (against them but can't change that now). Is one quarter of Peyton Manning more valuable than 4 quarters of Cleo Lemon or Sage Rosenfels?
Scott Engel (3:04 PM)
I would rather use Rosenfels - too risky to use Manning in Week 17
Andy (Tallahassee)
Whos the better RB fillers A. Petersen (chi), Stecker, A. Bradshaw, T. Jones
Scott Engel (3:05 PM)
Stecker may not play, and Bradshaw is hurting. I would use Peterson, then Jones
Harold, Ft. Worth, TX
Should I start Portis over LT this week?
Scott Engel (3:06 PM)
I wouldn't - Tomlinson faces a very weak run D and the Chargers will still have the third seed on their minds
Chris (LA)
Word is Hackett is back this week, is he a better start with Branch being somewhat INJ then David Patten, Kevin Walter, or Roydell Williams?
Scott Engel (3:07 PM)
Hackett is too risky, as he may only see limited action in his return - I would use Williams, then Patten
Anthony (Hoboken)
Plain and simple: Eli or Rivers?
Scott Engel (3:08 PM)
Rivers - I would not use Eli - Ona related note, why even the debate about the Giants resting their starters? They couldn't stand up to NE if they had something on the line
Dave (PA)
With Big Ben out is Davenport a better play then T.J. Duckett and AP (CHI)?
Scott Engel (3:09 PM)
Davenport may only see limited action to keep him rested for the playoffs - use Duckett
Kevin, Washington, DC
Would you opt for Santana Moss or Jerricho Cotchery as your WR3 this weekend? Philly's D or that Redskins D? Thanks.
Scott Engel (3:10 PM)
Moss, who plays in a must-win game and has worked well with Collins so far - Washington D also, as Dallas will rest starters
Mark (Kearny, NJ)
I am a frustrated Palmer and Ocho Stinko owner who lost in my semis last week, but I'm still playing for #1 overall in total points. Do I get rewarded for my patience with them in Week 17?
Scott Engel (3:11 PM)
I think Miami wins again, Hosuhmandzadeh scores, Palmer plays only welle nough to be respectable and CJ has another so-so game
Anthony (Hoboken)
Tell me about it...the giants debate is ridiculous, its not as if they have a chance to win the game and who do they "owe it to" to play their starters in a game that is meaningless to them in toto? Even if the starters play, there is a better chance they get embarassed than encouraged...That being said GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG-MEEEEEEEEEEEEN!
Scott Engel (3:13 PM)
If the Giants actually were playing for something, New England would still kill them. Eli against that defense? No way
Andy (Tallahassee)
Do you honestly believe Colston is 100%, or should i start H. Ward in his place?
Scott Engel (3:13 PM)
Ward may not play the full game, so I would go with Colston, who is ready to play
Dan (KC, KS)
Please pick 2 out of this group. Maroney, Thomas, Duckett, and Rhodes.
Scott Engel (3:14 PM)
Maroney to finish well, and Duckett to play well, possibly against Packer backups
Dan, Pittsburgh, PA
Scott, would you play Batch over Collins if you already had two Redskins playing, Portis and Moss, playing 3 on same team seems risky?
Scott Engel (3:16 PM)
Playing three Redskins is a bit risky, but Collins is steady and Batch is a bigger risk throwing to reserve pass catchers against the Ravens
Mike (Fresno)
On paper, the Eagles and Ravens starters didn't stack up to the Patriots, either.
Scott Engel (3:17 PM)
Neither team won - and the Giants have one win against a team with a winning record this year - NE would destroy them anyway
Mike (CA)
K. Smith or M. Morris.. what about Jones-Drew?
Scott Engel (3:18 PM)
I like Smith for a solid game against the Jets - the other two guys may only see limited action
Rex (DEN)
McNabb or Brees?
Scott Engel (3:19 PM)
McNabb to finish strong - Brees could be done in by challenging weather conditions at Chicago
Tina (Dubuque, IA)
Is Ryan Grant and Najeh Davenport a good play or should I play Kenny Watson, Maurice Jones Drew, or Kolby Smith in there place. Hope you have a happy new year.
Scott Engel (3:20 PM)
You too! Watson is a must-start with Rudi out again, and Smith for at least 80 yards and a TD against the Jets
Curt (Rock Valley, IA)
Working all year to get a question answered. How much do you see Bobby Engram playing this week?
Scott Engel (3:21 PM)
Holmgren has not fully let on as to how much he will play his starters, but I don't see Engram going more than one half
Rex (Denver)
McNabb or Brees? Pick 3: Edwards, Colston, Gore, Ocho, Holt, Sproles
Scott Engel (3:23 PM)
I ahve already picked McNabb on that one, amd Gore for sure against the Browns, Holt ina high-scoring game and Edwards for another good week
Bobby (San Antonio, TX)
Is Mason Crosby a good start this week or should I go with someone different like Bironas. Also Bucs D or Chicago D.
Scott Engel (3:24 PM)
Don;t think too much about kikers - just take Bironas indoors - Bucs will rest starters, so use Bears
Terry - Indianapolis, Indiana
What do you think of Todd Collins as a start against Dallas
Scott Engel (3:25 PM)
Solid numbers - more thna one TD pass against mostly Dallas backups
Mike(Charlotte)
Happy New Year Scott, Would Julius Jones be a better start over Lynch, considering Barber will sit most of the game.
Scott Engel (3:26 PM)
No way - Jones could see limited action as well and Dallas may go even deeper into the depth chart
Dave ( Sacramento CA)
If Weinke gets the start for the Niners, would that make the Browns D a sneaky sleeper play, or am I just overanalyzing?
Scott Engel (3:26 PM)
I think that is trying to get too cute when we all know how bad the Cleveland defense can be
Tom (Atlanta, Ga)
Seattle D or Titans D? Seattle may pull it starters, but does that override the fact they are playing the Falcons?
Scott Engel (3:27 PM)
Titans have more to play for and Redman will at least do decent against Seattle backups for a half
Barry (BAL)
Is Nate Washington a better start then Roydell Williams or Reggie Wayne?
Scott Engel (3:28 PM)
I would take him over Wayne, but I like Williams better in a must-win game
Larry (Oakland CA)
Philly D or Bucs D?
Scott Engel (3:29 PM)
Bucs have nothing to play for, and I look for the Eagles to finish strong
mike cincy
K Smith, TJ Ducket, K. kenton, D Sproles. Pick 2 please.
Scott Engel (3:30 PM)
Not sure of playing time with Keith and Sproles - use Smith and Duckett
santa north pole
do you really think j lewis will play a lot in a meaningless game to cleveland???
Scott Engel (3:31 PM)
This could be their season finale, so he will play well enough to help the Browns reach 10 wins for the first time since they re-entered the league
tom b boston
Should I start Warmer or Brady Sunday???
Scott Engel (3:32 PM)
Brady is the only QB I would start over Warner this week
Curt (Rock Valley, IA)
Is MAtt Schaub going to play this week? I keep seeing conflicting reports that they want to get him back on the field this week.
Scott Engel (3:32 PM)
He may play, but he will not starta nd I certainly would not use him in fantasy
Ryan (Folsom, CA)
Bulger or McNabb? Please????
Scott Engel (3:33 PM)
Close call, but I think Bulger's game will produce more points, so he gets the edge
Tim (NYC)
Kolby Smith, AP (CHI), or Brandon Jacobs?
Scott Engel (3:34 PM)
Jacobs may become a non-factor as the Giants fall behind quickly, and Peterson is inconsistent, so use Smith
Mike (Jacksonville)
What to do? Pick two: S. Jackson, L. White, and K. Watson
Scott Engel (3:35 PM)
Jackson will be the focal point of the Rams offense in the finale, and I like Smith's matchup better than White
Tom, Pittsburgh, PA
Scott, do you like Bruce over Branch or mason this week in the arial show in AZ? Happy New year
Scott Engel (3:36 PM)
Same to you, Tom - yes, Bruce is a good, underrated play this week
Laura (milwaukee, wi)
here is a sad question..eli, shaun hill or matt moore.
Scott Engel (3:36 PM)
Hill may not play, but I am sure there is someone you can get better than Moore, such as Luke McCown or Batch
Mike / Valpo
I have both Hackett and Nate Burleson. Is either a good play or should I put Mason in and forget them both?
Scott Engel (3:37 PM)
Burleson is a regular TD threat and can score even in one half of action
Freddy (Sedona AZ)
Any deep sleepers from the must win teams (TN and Wash)?
Scott Engel (3:38 PM)
I like Roydell Williams, Chris Borwn to score, Randle El and Betts for a late TD
Calvin (CA)
Jesse Chatman, Edgerrin James, or T.J. Duckett?
Scott Engel (3:39 PM)
I would go with Duckett - a regular TD threat who may face backups for a good portion of the day
Mark (sunny st pete, fl)
Hi Scott....Happy New Year!! I have been sitting on Marvin all year and now he may play...FINALLY!!! Is he a better play then one of these WR...Brandon Marshall, Kevin Curtis or I. Bruce? We start 3. THX!!
Scott Engel (3:40 PM)
I would not use Harrison - he has been out too long and may only see limited action
Dustin (Phoenix, AZ)
Is Fitz a good start with his groin or should I start Patten or Engram over him?
Scott Engel (3:41 PM)
He has played well through the injury and I expect Fitzgerald to finish well - keep him active
terry (jersey city)
i know it's sad - but can i start rousenfells this week? i dont have many other options out there...
Scott Engel (3:42 PM)
Rosenfels should give you decent numbers against the Jacksonville backups
tim (nyc)
What do you think of Gaffney, Hurd and DJ Hackett? Need at least 2 for Week 17 championship game.
Scott Engel (3:43 PM)
I would use Gaffney, but those other two are high riks - ultimately, I would take Hackett over Hurd
Rachel (Michigan)
Patten, Engram, or S. Moss. All 3 have really nothing to play for and all 3 look like good starts. Help me please!!!
Scott Engel (3:44 PM)
Moss does play in a must-win game and has worked well with Collins so far - he's your man
Steve (Chicago)
Need a RB2 and Flex from Duckett, Rhodes, T. Jones, Bowe and S. Moss
Scott Engel (3:45 PM)
Duckett for max touches and best chance of scoring, and Bowe to finish well against the Jets
JB (Indiana)
Desmond Clark or Owen Daniels???
Scott Engel (3:48 PM)
I would go with Daniels - having Orton at QB diminishes the Bears passing game, especially in possibly bad weather
John (Chicago)
Is Jabar Gaffney a better play than Adrian Peterson (Chicago) or T.J Duckett? If he is, which one?
Scott Engel (3:49 PM)
I would use Duckett - more guaranteed touches and a significant scoring threat
Steve(CT)
Pick 3: Rhodes, Duckett, Lendale, and LT
Scott Engel (3:50 PM)
Bench Rhodes- I don't like him much against SD
Jeff ( Pittsburgh, PA)
What's your take on Hasselbeck this week? I could pick up Rosenfels, Redman or Lemon or some other lousy QB.
Scott Engel (3:50 PM)
H emay not play more than a half and is a big risk - go with the Lemon against Cincy
Mike (NY) Ethics ?
Last ethics question of the year... Should the 2 teams playing in the championship game be allowed to bench their entire teams so they can split the 1st and 2nd place payout?
Scott Engel (3:51 PM)
That's ridiculous and should not be allowed - the game should be played, then let them do what they want with the money afterwards
TG (Kentucky)
I need to start 2 of these 3 guys at the flex position....TJ Duckett, N. Davenport, I. Bruce?...Thanks.
Scott Engel (3:53 PM)
Sit Davenport, since he may give way early to Gary Russell and Carey Davis
johnny (hoboken)
what can we expect out of bradshaw against the pats?
Scott Engel (3:54 PM)
He has missed practice time this week and is a very risky play - the Pats aint Buffalo
Donnie (Kansas City)
Am I crazy to play LDT AND Darren Sproles instead of Dominc Rhodes? Or am I simply crazy for other reasons?
Scott Engel (3:56 PM)
On the first question, Sproles' playing time is big guesswork, so use Rhodes. On the second question, I don't think so ;)
Jon (Chicago)
Jesse Chatman or Darius Walker for my flex spot?
Scott Engel (3:56 PM)
I would go with Chatman against the Bengals
Scott (Scranton)
Peyton, Favre, Cutler or Collins?
Scott Engel (3:57 PM)
Peyton and Favre may not play a full game, and I think Collins is a better play than Cutler considering he will face Dallas' backups for most of the game
sting (venice, ca)
i need help with a sleeper tight end - any names for this week?
Scott Engel (3:58 PM)
Brent Celek of the Eagles - he may start for them next year, too.
Barry (Raleigh, NC)
Pick two, Edwards, Boldin, Marshall or Roddy White
Scott Engel (3:59 PM)
Edwards is a must-start in any league, and Boldin to keep playing well aftera big game last week
dan, pittsburgh
Scott, does witten go for the receiving record and get me alot of points? thanks for the help all year.
Scott Engel (4:00 PM)
Doesn't look like Dallas is much concerned with that - he is a big risk
Dave (PA)
Vernon Davis or Tony Sheffler?
Scott Engel (4:01 PM)
If Shaun Hill is able to play, Davis, otherwise Scheffler. Thanks a lot everyone! See you Sunday!
