Matt (Greenville, NC)
Is Wes Welker a top-20 WR headed into 08'? Thanks!
Scott Engel (2:59 PM)
Good afternoon everyone! Yes, I would even say he is a top 10 guy, especially in PPR leagues - he's Brady's best possession guy
Mike (Albany, NY)
Hi Scott, thanks for taking my question. I'm in a keeper auction league can keep 3. I have A. Peterson and LJ for $5 so they are no-brainers. Who should be my 3rd? (Palmer $35, B. Marshall $5 or M. Turner $5)? PLEASE HELP!
Scott Engel (3:01 PM)
Marshall for sure - he had his expected breakthrough season in 2007 and that is a great price to keep him at
Dakota Davidson spring tx,
who should i pick owen daniels or antonio gates
Scott Engel (3:03 PM)
In a keeper league, I would definitely go with Gates - he should continue to be the best player at his poisition
Dylan(CO)
Scott- Pick 3(not a PPR) A. Peterson(CHI), D. Rhodes, K. Smith, A. Stecker. Thanks, Dylan
Scott Engel (3:05 PM)
In a keeper league, I would throw all thoase guys back and keep the draft choices if you don't have anything btter
Jake (VA Beach)
In a 2 back league with a flex, do I keep LJ or Wayne. I already have LT, Addai and Grant.
Scott Engel (3:07 PM)
If you already have three running backs, Wayne is th eobvious guy, as he clearly became one of the best WRs in fantasy this past season and beacme Indianapolis' certain No. 1 target
Brian (ORL)
Playoff league. No changes allowed. 1 player per team max. Would you rather have Brady and Addai or Manning and Moss? Also, would you take a chance on TO? Or would you use another Dallas player?
Scott Engel (3:10 PM)
I would rather have Addai for more touches than Moss as Brady and Manning could play pretty evenly overall until the Super Bowl - Of all the Cowboys, Owens is the one I want
Brian (San Francisco)
In a dynasty league who would you rather have, Greg Olsen or Todd Heap?
Scott Engel (3:10 PM)
Olsen - he has a ton of upside and Heap can't seem to stay healthy - by his third year, Olsen will be a top fantasy TE
tyler (st louis,mo)
hey scott could u please answer this question, i get to keep 4 who should i keep out of: mcgahee, s jax, fitz, mcnabb, garrard, deangelo williams, branch
Scott Engel (3:13 PM)
McGahee and Jackson give you a great duo of young running backs, possibly for years to come. Fitzgerald has clearly arrived as a top fantasy WR and his best years are actually ahead of him. Garrard will be steady every year - those are the four I would keep
Scott Engel (3:18 PM)
My picks for this weekend's games - Seahawks 24, Redskins 20. Buccaneers 20, Giants 13. Jaguars 28, Steelers 21. Chargers 31, Titans 13.
know no one, moon
Please remark on the whole Dungy may sit starters thought process from week 16. Love your work. Thanks
Scott Engel (3:24 PM)
Thanks - it's simple actually - you don't want to rest your guys too much with two weeks to go - you have to keep them on the field enough to stay warm and in rhythm - fortunately, Manning playe dlong enough to throw three TD passes
Joe (Philadelphia)
Is it worth keeping jamal lewis? we get to keep 4, and i have Brady, Addai, Edwards, and i am lookin at keeping either lewis, anquan boldin, or larence maroney.
Scott Engel (3:25 PM)
I would keep Maroney, who will have his true breakthrough year in 2006 after looking good late in '07 - how Lewis will fare will all depend on if he stays in Cleveland and whether he gets another one-year deal, which seemed to really motivate him this past season
Scott Engel (3:31 PM)
Here are my playoff game ranks for this weekend - top 5s QB - Hasselbeck, Garrard, Roethlisberger, Garcia, Collins RB - Tomlinson, Portis, Fred Taylor, Graham, Jones-Drew WR - Galloway, Burress, Branch, Engram, Santana Moss TE - Gates, Heath Miller, Kevin Boss, Marcedes Lewis, Pollard K - Suisham, Johsn Borwn, Jeff reed, Tynes, Kaeding D/ST - Chargers, Buccaneers, Seahawks, Jaguars, Steelers
Brandon Jacobs[nj]
Why are u hating on us?U always project me with bad stats. Now u pick us to lose to tampa.Come on now.whats the deal?
Scott Engel (3:32 PM)
It's not hate - just being realistic - the Ginats played over their heads against NE and Eli is not going to win on the road against a tough defense
Frank Murray, NYC
Since fantasy football season is over think you can put up a less scary serious mug shot? I gulp every time I log on to your chats. Thanks great season!
Scott Engel (3:33 PM)
Fantasy football is serious, and you shouldn't be concerned with my looks. All I hope is maybe i helped you have a good season.
Scott Engel (3:36 PM)
After the first round, I see this - TB upsets Dallas, Green Bay edges Seattle in the NFC. Packers over Bucs in NFC title game. In the AFC, Jags and Colts get eliminated before thr real Super Bowl, a close, exciting NE win over Indy - then Pats over Pack in the Super Bowl
Jihn(NY)
Hey Scott...which young RB do you think will have the most productive career?...Kolby Smith,Selvin Young,Kenny Watson or Tony Hunt??
Scott Engel (3:37 PM)
Smith will likely be a backup for along time, and Watson may only be good for a year or two if he continues to start - Hunt will be a goal-line guy for awhile if anything - Young has the most upside if Shanahan gives him the chance to play regularly
Brady (Colorado)
You should put up another photo. I've been going around and thanking the fantasy guys. I'm not thanking you. You've screwed me over more than once. Luckly I'm smart enough to make my own decisions and win my league championship. Now I know why you aren't in the GMC Pro League: Cause you suck. I hate you as a fantasy "expert", not a person.
Scott Engel (3:41 PM)
Actually, I was in the GMC Pro League. Thanks for the love. I know it's not anything personal. Congrats on your title. And I will be certain not to lose any sleep based on your dislike of my work. And if you are so smart, why are you blaming me for screwing you? I thought you could make your own decisions. Peace.
David(FLA)
Scott..this is my keeper team starters going into next season...Hasselbeck,J.Lewis,Edge,TO,Colston and H miller. what are your thoughts??
Scott Engel (3:43 PM)
I think you have obviously drafted well and have a solid team as things look now - if James does not stay in Arizona that could make your outlook even more positive
Tom[nj]
Brady from colorado.SUCKS!!!
Scott Engel (3:44 PM)
Wow - I guess he has haters too - LOL!
Brian (Tulsa, OK)
Wow! Lots of hate toward you today, Scott. I think you do an above average job. What's your view on Steven Jackson next year? Thinking he could slip to mid first round sleeper.
Scott Engel (3:45 PM)
Thanks Brian, I can take it. I'm glad to be here, especially for people like you. I think he could slip to mid-first, yes, but he is too well-established to be categorized as any type of sleeper
Thomas (Birmingham)
Gloating, I won my super-competitive trash talking fantasy league with Charlie Batch and John Kitna (In spite or Kitna, really) in the final weeks. I'm tempted to scream it from the rooftops. How much crowing is too much?
Scott Engel (3:47 PM)
Your league members likely will not want to hear it, but I have given you full space to gloat here, and congratulations
Brandon Jacobs[nj]
When we beat tampa. And i truck thru their de. Do u think u can try an bring me down?
Scott Engel (3:48 PM)
I like Jacobs - but I am speaking objectively, not as a fan which you may be doing
David(FLA)
Have you heard that Edge is leaving Ariz??
Scott Engel (3:50 PM)
From our Rotowire updates James is disappointed that he did not play a larger role in Arizona's offense this season, according to the Arizona Republic. He might not return to the team in 2008, according to the East Valley Tribune. James did rank second in the NFL in carries. He is scheduled to make $7 million next season and the cash-strapped Cardinals may move in a less expensive direction.
Lee
of course you shouldn't take these criticism seriously, but don't you just wanna laugh at these idiots who blame you experts for giving them your "OPINION"...it's so easy for these morons to point fingers when something goes wrong, but shouldn't these nitwits point their fingers at themselves for listening in the 1st place?...by the way, i think you experts do an admirable job...
Scott Engel (3:52 PM)
Thanks Lee - I try - I never said my takes were going to be perfect and my intention is to only help people if I can - fantasy football is a tricky game and you have to expect the unexpected and not look for a target when things do not go your way.
Sean (Philly)
What do you think of DeAngelo Williams next year? He seemed to be getting more carries later in the year.
Scott Engel (3:55 PM)
By the end of the season, it was clear he was a better RB than Foster, but I have yet to believe he won;t be anything more than boom or bust if he plays regularly
Thomas (Birmingham)
Gloating aside, all of my leagues have been standard draft leagues. What do you recommend doing to set up a keeper league next year? I'm familiar with the concept, but unsure how to move forward.
Scott Engel (3:57 PM)
Do it based on next year's draft, of course, and depending on league size, two to four keepers is best. Teams lose draft picks in the round in which they originally drafted the player
Mike (Fresno)
Fantasy football is not just a tricky game. The fact that Thomas from Birmingham won his league with Charlie Batch in the lineup proves that there is a lot of luck involved, as well.
Scott Engel (3:58 PM)
Good point, Mike - there is an element of that as well. Al lwe can do is set our best possible lineups based on educating ourselves and then hope for optimum results
Sean (Philly)
How would you feel about your keepers being Cadilac, Walker, and Welker as 10,9,8 picks? I traded my future for LT who goes back into the draft this year.
Scott Engel (4:00 PM)
I would only keep Welker, and throw those other two guys back to retain the draft choices
fred papasso[boonton,nj]
Brandon Jacobs lives next door to me.He is the blue incredible hulk.dont make him angry.u wont like him when hes angry!
Scott Engel (4:01 PM)
Thanks Fred! Guess that makes me the reporter that follows him? You know, that guy never did find out who Banner really was! Great TV series. :)
Frank Murray, NYC
You took a beating today...but came out with some backers! Now I know you are a serious dude.
Scott Engel (4:03 PM)
Thanks Frank - I don't take it to heart - this is all in fun and I can take the bad with the good - Happy New Year! Thanks a lot everyone!
