Philip (Gothenburg, Sweden)
What do you think of Kurt Warners value next year? Do you think his strong performance last year will earn him the starting spot or will he have to give it up to Leinart?
Scott Engel (3:00 PM)
I think he will have to fight off Leinart in camp - Leinart is still the future of the Cardinals, no matter how well Warner played last season
Matt (Andover, NJ)
How concerned should fantasy owners be about Albert Pujols' elbow injury?
Scott Engel (3:02 PM)
I wouldn't draft him in the top 5, especially now with Santana going to the Mets, boosting his value. He can't straighten his elbow out and I don't want to have worries about him landing on the DL. I'd rather spend my first-rounder on a helathy guy, personally
ben (mckinney,tx)
is josh hamilton a legit #2 outfielder in fantasy? could you put him in with the jermaine dyes, bobby abreus and gary sheffields of the world?
Scott Engel (3:06 PM)
I fashion him more as a No. 3, considering he does not hit lefties well and will not play every day in center field - obviously, his value is boosted in NL-only leagues, though
Scott Engel (3:06 PM)
I am also open to fantasy racing and eraly Arena Football Pick 'Em questions today if you have them
sage(chicago)
i need to keep 3 with $260 cap: webb$17, atkins 12, hamels 14, c.pena 1, jj hardy 1, lincecom 1
Scott Engel (3:13 PM)
I think Webb is certain, and Hamels is definitely worth any perceived risks. The potential of Lincecum makes him a terrific prospect and bargain for you
John (Long Island)
10 team Keeper League with 5 year 'contracts'...I'm keeping Chipper this year for probably the last time. At what round should I draft Evan Longoria with the intent of keeping him the next 5 years (at whatever round I pick him at) as my new franchise 3B?
Scott Engel (3:15 PM)
With that many keepers, you have to jump on him in the very eraly rounds, but you can't assume he will be available when it's your turn - keep other prospects in mind
Joe
Where would you put Carlos Pena among first baseman?
Scott Engel (3:18 PM)
He might drop off a bit from a career season, but I wouldn;t expect too much slippage - he is definitely in the latter part of my top 10 at first base in mixed leagues
Justin (St Paul)
There is one Football game left so how about a Super Bowl Fantasy question? What kind of stats do you expect from Brady and Eli Sunday? I am up 13 with Eli and the next closest guy has Brady.
Scott Engel (3:19 PM)
I am fully open to all football questions, especially keeper and dynasty stuff - I expect 275-plus and three TDs and one pick from Brady, and 225-plus, two TDs and two INTS from Eli
Joe (Billings, MT)
You would keep three pitchers in Sage's question vs. Pena for $1? Please help me understand.
Scott Engel (3:20 PM)
Thanks Joe - I slipped there a bit on Pena and overlooked him - I would keep Webb, Lincecum and Pena
patrick (nyc)
12 team mixed keeper league...deciding on my 11th and final keeper...longoria for $10 or hughes for $9??? already have peavy, webb and sabathia so leaning towards longoria...your thoughts?
Scott Engel (3:22 PM)
I think you have already answered your own question - you obviously have the pitching and Longoria will help you more in the long run
Dan (RI)
I can keep 2 of Gallardo, Lincecum and J. Vasquez. Who would you let go? It's a points league where wins are weighted heavily. Thanks
Scott Engel (3:24 PM)
I would rather go with the upside on Gallardo and Lincecum, especially Gallardo, who can be a stud for a long time to come
Dave (NY)
Keep 2 (Non PPR) League... W. Parker (1), Brandon Marshall (14), Garrard (16)....thanks Scott. My thought process is I don't know whats up with Parker's injury and might be able to land a better back in the first once we get the list of people are letting go.
Scott Engel (3:28 PM)
If you're going to have to give up a first-rounder for Parker, toss him back and see if you can get someone better with that first pick. Garrard and Marshall are excellent bargains if all you have to sacrifice is picks in those later rounds
Scott Engel (3:31 PM)
Will be interesting to see if Miami deals its No. 1 pick - rumor is Dallas is after McFadden, so maybe that leaves Barber III out in the cold or somewhere else
Greg (Syracuse)
Scott, doing my first NASCAR fantasy league, my son loves it. We got Johnson, Harvick, Bowyer, Ragan and Sadler. How did we do? Thanks.
Scott Engel (3:35 PM)
I think you did very well - it may hinge on Harvick for you, but Bowyer is quite underrated and is a great acquisition. Ragan is a good value, and you may use him more often than Sadler
Rebecca (St. Louis)
Scott, you're my favorite. Could you name some players who you know won't end up on your team and some who will end up on many?
Scott Engel (3:37 PM)
Thanks Rebecca - next year, I will avoid Eli Manning, as I want to see how he does when defenses give him more respect over a full year. I think a lot of people will take a chance on him. I will avoid Frank Gore also, as Martz's arrival could really change the offensive outlook in favor of the passing game
Scott Engel (3:42 PM)
In baseball, I am certainly going to steer clear of Pujols early. I know a lot of people will take the risk on him.
Scott Engel (3:44 PM)
In NASCAR, I will actually avoid Junior, because hes no sure thing - Harvick was underwhelming last year also
bill pgh
what about Gore in a ppr league? he is the best offensive guy they got. Thanks
Scott Engel (3:48 PM)
Things will change with Martz there - I am sure they will acquire more receiving talent and throw to the RB less in 2008
Moe, Larry, Curly
No one cares about Nascar, it's boring.
Scott Engel (3:49 PM)
200,000 people at a race? I think you speak only for yourself - Nyuk, nyuk.
Moe, Larry, Curly
200,000 Rednecks who don't know better.
Scott Engel (3:52 PM)
One close-minded troublemaker who can't even use his rela name - NASCAR is th ebiggest sport in America outside the NFL - you lose - wise guy - Nyuk, Nyuk
bill pgh
Follow up- would you consider Colston a better keeper than Gore when u lose a draft pick in the round they were picked? Gore 8 and Colston 17. I already have A Pete. Thanks
Scott Engel (3:53 PM)
That;s almost too easy, with Colston at 17.
Grant (NY)
Grady Sizemore for Prince Fielder .. which side do you want to be on in a keeper league?
Scott Engel (3:55 PM)
Wow - I love both players a lot, and I'ma big Sizemore backer. It may ultimately depend on what the rest of your roster looks like, but I will take Sizemore for better across the board production in terms of categories
Scott Engel (3:57 PM)
For those of you who do like fantasy racing, our Fantasy Stock Car Game is amazing. You can create your own league similar ot fantasy football or baseball. I am very excited about it. The time has come! :)
Scott Engel (3:59 PM)
Arena Football Pick 'Em will also return soon - I'll be picking the Chicago Rush often - they had a great offseason
Scott Engel (4:00 PM)
Thanks a lot everyone - enjoy the Super Bowl and see you on Monday!
