Super Bowl week daily chats: Monday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday
Buzzmaster (11:41 AM)
OK, they finally got everyone rounded up and we're on the bus headed over to the Stadium!
Buzzmaster (11:42 AM)
While I was waiting for us to get moving, I've been looking over the previous halftime performers. Did you know Super Bowl XXV had ''a small world salute to 25 years of the Super Bowl featuring New Kids on the Block''? I think Tom Petty is lookin pretty good right now.
Buzzmaster (11:45 AM)
Now I know what royalty feels like - there are nine police motorcycles around the bus. Police escort! I think folks should have to pull over as we pass. I mean these folks need to get to Glendale STAT so they can ask corny questions of millionaire athletes. Let's move people! Get outta the way!
Buzzmaster (11:45 AM)
Oh, wait! I just heard it! They used the word ''motorcade''!
Tom (Peoria)
Buzz is there anyone famous on the bus or just computer nerds?
Buzzmaster (11:48 AM)
Funny you should ask. I've been looking around on the bus doing two things - 1) spotting who is riding the bus and 2) playing spot the swag on the reporters.
Buzzmaster (11:49 AM)
I wonder if Matt Mosley is riding on a bus. I don't see him, so me thinks not. The Hashmarks blog gang - check them out here as they'll be blogging live from Media Day http://myespn.go.com/profile/hashmarks - probably have a fancy limo.
Buzzmaster (11:50 AM)
But, Sal Pal is riding the bus! And, wow...Miss Nevada is riding the bus!
Buzzmaster (11:51 AM)
Which makes me think, Has Miss America happened yet? What are odds on Nevada? Can I make that bet? Wait, betting is bad. OK, then can you buy stock in beauty pagent winners? I'm going all in. Wait, that's a poker term. Then I'm going to bet the house. Sorry I'm a little flustered right now.
Buzzmaster (11:55 AM)
OK, I need to report on my other game, because I'll have none with Miss Nevada - spot the swag. Let's play...Media folks wearing old freebies from events they've covered. Guy next to me on the bus - 2005 PGA championship sweater. Guy in lobby wearing 1995 NBA All-Star game, hosted by Phoenis, letterman style jacket. Me? 2001 Leigh Steinberg Super Bowl party hat and an X Games VI shirt. That's hot.
Sean (Philly)
Take a breath Buzz, look away from Miss Nevada, now take several long shallow breaths.
Jeff (Michigan)
Yeah, Miss America has happened. No clue who won though.
Sports Nation Reporter
Mr Buzzmaster, is it true you turned down a steak? And if so how do you plan on making up for it?
Jordan (Peoria)
Michigan won Miss America Saturday night.
Buzzmaster (11:56 AM)
We're pulling up to the stadium. It looks like a fat, out of shape flying saucer. Very weird.
Buzzmaster (11:56 AM)
It's funny, this place right now is a who's who of who is that?
Brad (Carlisle, PA)
Buzz, she probably sounds like that girl from South Carolina that couldn't put 1 answer together and even Slater laughed at her... Down boy!!
Buzzmaster (11:58 AM)
OK, we're getting off the bus and are going to hang out in the councourse waiting to descend onto the field. I'll check back in a few.
Buzzmaster (12:00 PM)
Oooooooooh, the dome is opening. I feel like I'm in a sci-fi movie.
Buzzmaster (12:01 PM)
There she is! TV Azteca girl. She's easily gonna win the award for most photographed member of the media.
Jack (Toronto)
Buzz, you shouldn't have described what you're wearing. Now Ray will be able to track you down.
Bob(Lowell)
Buzz, what are you going to be doing in the stadium?
Jordan (Peoria)
Buzz could the same be said of you after all those Krispy Kremes?
Sean (Philly)
Oh Oh, Ohhh oh oh, oh oh, ohh oh. Oh oh, ohh oh oh, the right stuff.
Mike(Charlotte)
Buzz is like a Buzz in a poptart factory
John, Boston
How many dumb questions from the idiotic NY media are going to involve nothing remotely close to being a significant football question.
Josh (Boston)
Not sure if you have seen the movie "I am Legend", but there is a prophecy told at the beginning of the movie. While in an interview on TV, the station had an "ESPN Bottom Line". On it, it said Patriots defeat Giants for 2nd time this season (23-7). Only way that could happen (SuperBowl rematch) Could the end of the world be approaching? As long as its a Pats undefeated season we can die happy. Thoughts?
Buzzmaster (12:02 PM)
I'm going to see if I can prove the rumors true and find the folks who are paying women 50 bucks to ''look pretty'' this week at parties. I'll tell them I'd do it for 25.
Jack (NB Canada)
Go over and hug her Buzz!
TV Azteca Girl
I missed you last night at the steakhouse Buzzie-boy.
Buzzmaster (12:05 PM)
I know it's early still, but I'm going to find out If they will close the dome...I'm getting chilly. If not, I'll just see if I can find the button myself.
Patrick (Louisville)
Negative, Buzzmaster, the pattern is full.
rerun (su)
i hear miss nevada is there and she is smoking hot
Buzzmaster (12:06 PM)
OH NUTS! I literally just tripped over a red carpet. Is that like 7 years of bad celebrity encounters or something?
Buzzmaster (12:08 PM)
Tom Brady was just walking to his podium with his pants undone. Did someone just kick him out of the bathroom or something? Can't the MVP of the NFL be allowed to be fully dressed before he gets hurried out on to the field?
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
Thanks Buzz, now I'm going to not pay attention in two classes.
Nick (Boston)
The only person I've ever heard say 'nuts' is my father, and he was born in the 40s. Are you a baby boomer, Buzz?
ESPN Crew
There he is! Hahaha! The guy who turned down free steak. Everyone point and laugh. hahahaha!
Buzzmaster (12:09 PM)
By the way, Tom Brady has the biggest thong...I mean throng. Hahaha. That joke just never gets old.
Buzzmaster (12:09 PM)
I'm hanging out with Tom Brady right now. The NFL should start keeping stats on biggest throngs. And also, Gisele should have a booth. NFL, I know you're watching, make it happen.
Scott (Brewtown)
*googling miss Nevada* Oooh she is smokin'
Medical Examiner
Really you are fine. No you dont need medical attention. Sir, if you dont move out of the way and let me attend to real emergencies that you will be removed
Jason (East Lansing)
You should ask the bus to make a detour to get some steak.
ELO/ORLANDO
Buzz, I told you to be careful with the women.
Jack (Toronto)
Why do I picture Buzz walking around with his laptop strapped around his neck like the dude in Revenge of the Nerds during the "concert" scene.
Norge (San Jose CA)
Can Anybody who is going to win Sunday
Kevin (Dallas)
Buzz, if Rodney Harrison is foaming at the mouth then do not approach. I repeat: do not approach.
Bill Belichick (Glendale)
I really don't see how I can answer a question from you, Buzz. Your refusal of steak was so stupid.
Buzzmaster (12:10 PM)
Right before Tom sat down, he was taking a picture of Deion Sanders.
Norge (San Jose CA)
Pats r going to lose the Super bowl and Giants defense r going to murder the pats offense a butral game is going to be
ELO/ORLANDO
hey, let us know when the cows parachute in.
Jamila (Boston)
Buzz, you have every woman and some men drooling right now. Thanks.
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
You do realize that you will NEVER live down the steak thing, right?
Buzzmaster (12:12 PM)
According to Mr. Brady, and he wasn't kidding around, Randy Moss ''is probably the smartest offensive player he's been around.'' If he is, that probably gets lost in all the other stuff. He is, though, a very smart football player. I agree.
Nick (Boston)
Buzz, make sure you aren't ever in front of a camera. You need to remain an enigma in order for the MB to remain entertaining. Also, Norge can't be more than eight years old.
Patrick (Louisville)
Do not google Miss Nevada. I just hope the IT guys weren't watching that.
Kevin (Dallas)
I just picture everyone standing around with a camera in hand and taking pictures of everyone taking pictures.
Buzzmaster (12:14 PM)
Matt Mosley on the Hashmark blog is reporting that Bill Belichick's throng is not so big.
Buzzmaster (12:14 PM)
OK Tom, you're boring. I'm out of here.
Raymond (Baltimore)
Yes Patrick is right.. google at your own risk when it comes to Miss Nevada
Joe (Madison)
Buzz, if you accomplish anything down there, find out what would cause Grey Ruegemer to castrate lambs with his teeth.
Chris (LA CA)
im chatting with Buzz while reading the MB! best two weeks of the year
Jamila (Boston)
Why is there no ESPNEWS HD? Brady looks niiiiice today.
Patrick (Louisville)
Then he should know not to quit on plays. That makes him even worse.
ELO/ORLANDO
That's because Randy Moss majored in accounting, true story, read it in ESPN
Chris (LA CA)
any cute chicks in Glendale/Scottsdale?
Buzzmaster (12:15 PM)
Not a one. (Now that's some serious sarcasm.)
rerun (su)
i apologize to anyone fired over the miss nevada reference...
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Is Buzz really hanging out with Tom Brady or are they just in the same general vicinity? That would be like me attending the game and sitting in the upper deck saying that I was hanging out with the players.
Tom (Peoria)
Buzz how are you walking around and chatting?
Buzzmaster (12:15 PM)
Oh, the wonders of new age technology.
Bill Belichick (Glendale)
The reason my throng isn't as large is because Jon Bon Jovi and his entourage hasn't arrived yet.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Is this a chat or more of a Buzz play-by-play of his experiences? The Nation would like to know.
Buzzmaster (12:16 PM)
Both. I'm trying to bring y'all inside Media Day.
Ryan (San Diego)
How many times will Deion try to steal the spotlight by making some outrageous remark?
Jack (San Diego)
Anyone in AZ, look for a middle aged man carrying a computer and take his picture....the mystery will be over.
Buzzmaster (interviewing Tom Brady)
So uh.... you excited for Sunday?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Hey Buzz, if you wouldn't mind please tell Sal Pal that his cousin from PA says hi.
Scott (Brewtown)
We hava a Glendale (burb of Brewtown)...No cute chicks!
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
So accounting teaches you NFL offense? Amazing!
Jordan (Peoria)
Buzz is a little off his chat game as he let someone completely butcher a post and no snide remarks were posted!
Buzzmaster (12:17 PM)
Sorry, I'm overwhelmed here.
Michael (Portland, ME)
When you get to Wes Welker, can you let us know if his eyes are as blue as the look in pictures?
Jack (NB Canada)
Go visit Wes Welker if you can find him.
Bones (Hartford)
Are the pats wearing their blue jerseys or white?
Buzzmaster (12:18 PM)
They're in their blue.
Kevin (Dallas)
Chris O'Donnell had to run to a phonebooth when they paged Wes Welker.
Cal (St. Paul, MN)
Hey Buzz, did you give Miss Nevada the thumbs up sign...it works wonders with the chicks!
Michael (Portland, ME)
Buzz, you need a PA for Media Day. I for one, would glady volunteer for the job. Just buy me a steak in return.
Sean (Philly)
You need to lead in with some easy questions Buzz, like, "You see Miss nevada over there Tom?" then come out of nowhere with "Who is hotter, Bridgette or Giselle?"
Scott (Brewtown)
The entire Sportsnation is underwhelmed, Buzz, underwhelmed
Chris O Donnel (Somewhere Obscure)
No need to visit Wes, you can visit me, we're getting ready to shoot Spiderman 4
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Buzz did you just drop a y'all on us? You've been out West far too long.
Nic (Lawrence, KS)
So buzz... you have anything special picked out of lunch in Zona?
Buzzmaster (12:20 PM)
I haven't seen the lunch spread yet. I think they're hiding it from us.
Jeff (Michigan)
Buzz, did you tell Miss Nevada about your steak blunder?
Buzzmaster (12:20 PM)
Heck no.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Kevin: Welker looks like Toby Maguire, not O'Donnell. This was cleared up in yesterday's MB. Please make a note of it.
Ryan (San Diego)
Can you ask Mike Vrabel why he tried to slide tackle Rivers last week? Oh wait...sorry I need to dial that get over it number again...relapse
Chris (LA CA)
Buzz if there is a Tommy's burger in AZ you HAVE to go..you might lose love for In N Out
Bones (Hartford)
So the pats are wearing blue which means the giants are in white. both teams are undefeated in their respective uni's. somethings gotta give
Patrick (Louisville)
y'all is more of a southern midwest kinda thing
Jamila (Boston)
Oh goodness! Brady's looking for dumb questions!
Buzzmaster (12:21 PM)
Nuts. Too bad I already left him.
Scott (Brewtown)
Hey! For the first time ever I really am having "Lunch/chat" Wooohoooo!
Buzz Interviewing Wes Welker
So has anyone ever told you that you look like Chris O'Donnell?
ELO/ORLANDO
Can you give us girls a REAL detailed description of Wes Welker, we can drool while reading..........droolllllllllllllllll
Buzzmaster (12:21 PM)
Ummmm. No.
Kevin (Dallas)
JB, just like the free steak, I'm not letting Buzz off the hook for the O'Donnell comment.
Michael (Portland, ME)
Ask Wes Welker who would be a better choice for "The Wes Welker Story": Toby Maguire or Chris O'Donnell?
Chris O'Donnell (L.A. Area McDonald's)
Who cares if it was cleared up, I am just glad somebody is talking about me again!
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
Thanks for sparing us that Buzz.
Scott (Brewtown)
ELO/ORLANDO: I think I just threwup..in my mouth... alittle bit.
Buzzmaster (12:25 PM)
TV Azteca is bringing it. That's all I have to say.
Buzzmaster (12:26 PM)
And Randy Moss says that he's growing the beard to keep the cold Patriots tundra off his face.
Jim (NY)
That's all you have to say, huh? Yeah, you're earning your keep.
Kevin (Dallas)
Something tells me Buzz just got a lot of inappropriate comments.
Lady Buzz (Bristol)
I hope you have another place to sleep when you get back.
Tony (NYC)
what gives, no updates, did the spacship known as The University of Phoenix Stadium take the media and the pats to another planet????
Buzzmaster (12:28 PM)
My girl Inez just struck at Tom Brady, I just heard. She proposed to him. She's wearing a skimpy, Madonna, mid-80s-esque white wedding dress.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Buzz may be sleeping with the fishes when he gets home. Literally.
Bill Belichek (Glendale)
We're really excited to get you your post transcript on wednesday
Bruce (Maine)
Buzz is trying to act cool in front of TV Azteca girl so he closed his labtop
Sean (Philly)
Say hi to Inés Sainz for me Buzz. *the hot blonde TV Azteca girl*
Buzzmaster (12:30 PM)
Bad positioning by the NFL folks. They've got everyone in a single file line. They've got Brady right in the middle. It's a complete log jam in the middle. To get from one side to the other takes 20 minutes. They should have put him on the end.
Jeff (Iowa)
My wife says Inez is not that pretty. I did not even realize she had a face.
Jim (NY)
This is a pathetic excuse of a "chat"
Sean (Philly)
Buzz, I believe that Elo asked for a description of Wes, not Inez...wait what am I saying, I must need to go get some lunch.
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
Buzz do you need someone to carry around your laptop? I'm free if you can get ESPN to pay!
Ines Sainz (Glendale)
Brady is hot, and he never turns down a free steak.
Greg(boston)
does walking around chatting on your computer hinder your ability to talk to the hotties?
Buzzmaster (12:31 PM)
Walking around period hinders that ability for me.
Michael (Portland, ME)
Tom Brady in the middle? Did they setup the podiums by position?
Hayden (Peoria, IL)
You know Tom always has to be the center of attention.
Ryan (San Diego)
Buzz's multitasking skills are obviously highly underrated...still coming up with clever one liners while in a crowd
Raymond (Baltimore)
Whoa whoa whao Buzz, when did you and Ms Sainz get on a First name basis?
Jeff (Michigan)
I see Randy Moss! I see Randy Moss!
john sayre pa
u know they are always compareing tom to other q/b i dont really think u can do that player are bigger now like teams you can compare new england to the steeler or the 49ers
Greg(boston)
Do they have any American Idol rejects around like they did last year...I wish I could get free passes for being a no talent clown
Jordan (Peoria)
Obviously from the early tripping accident, buzz cant walk...now if he could roll around in an office chair he would be in his element!
Jordan (Peoria)
Peoria is starting to get a chat contingent
Jake (Clovis, CA)
Tell Brady he is overrated and that anyone could be that good when their O-Line never gets called for holding!
Buzzmaster (12:35 PM)
I'll be sure to let him know you feel that way. That is, of course if I can make it through his throng.
Jeff (Iowa)
Buzz is not used to being outside during the day.
Denny (Visalia)
Thanks for the info on Miss Nevada, now I have the IT department at my work scanning all my files, thanks Buzz
Greg (Columbus, OH)
Tell Bill Belichick we want him to kick a field goal.
Buzzmaster (12:36 PM)
I see over on Hashmarks - http://myespn.go.com/profile/hashmarks - someone asked Tedy Bruschi about his recovering from his stroke a few years ago. Good stuff.
Greg(boston)
Dude, the weather is usually great, the girls are phenomonal so why are poeple from CA so whiny all the time????
Jeff (Michigan)
I smell angry jealous Chargers fans. Buzz, please list the number again.
Buzzmaster (12:36 PM)
What number? 1-800-GTOVRIT?
Jordan (Peoria)
Jake have you met Ryan? You could be best friends talking about how much your team got shafted.
Buzzmaster (12:37 PM)
Anyone have any questions for any of the players? For Wes Welker?
Michael (Portland, ME)
Wow, there's real journalism at Media Day?
Kevin (Dallas)
There goes my theory that Buzz was some type of supercomputer that specializes in sarcastic one-liners.
Jake (Canton)
I've had two jersey's in my lifetime, an old Bledsoe one, then I +1'd it to = Brady. Needless to say my Brady knit gets more use.
Buzzmaster (Sitting in office)
I can't believe they think I'm at the SuperBowl. Idiots.
Jason (San Bernardino California)
1800 get over it we had the pats beat
Jordan (Peoria)
Wes, do you have your Spider suit with you here? Has anyone learned of your secret identity and will they take you and all the fans out during the Super Bowl?
Hayden (Peoria, IL)
I think all of the Peoria people excpet for me is in Zrizona though. I am probably the only one rep'in the IL
SportsNation Idiots (In their offices)
Well duh. Why do you think we tune in to you?
Tom (Chicago)
Does Wes rub it in Randy Moss' face that Wes got traded for a 2nd round pick and Randy got traded for a 4th round pick?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
If you can really access Welker, I think I can come up with a question not related to Spiderman.
Tom (Chicago)
You know who else had the Pats beat? The Ravens, Giants and Eagles. What happened? They all lost. Let it go.
Brett (Palm Beach)
How long will you be covering this "media day" today Buzz?
Buzzmaster (12:41 PM)
I think until it's over is a good time to stop.
Nick (Boston)
Jason, it's almost like 2006 all over again! Oh, right...it was 2006 all over again. (holding neck, coughing)
Buzzmaster (12:43 PM)
Rodney Harrison addressed his reputation as a dirty player over in Hashmarks.
Justin (Glendale, AZ)
Ask them to retract the field when they're done...or maybe while the players are still out there. That'd be interesting to see.
Jake (Canton)
Please ask Wes what the best part of being a Patriot is.
rerun (su)
ask wes if he has ever googled miss nevada...
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
Nick, don't throw stones in a glass house. Brady was the one who choked last year.
jim (boston)
NE D played a bad game against NY not this time,
Wes Welker
Uh Jake, I have the Best QB throwing me the ball, who has the most amount of time to throw it, and I have the most dangerous vertical threat in the league playing with me, and my coach likes to run up the score. What's not to like?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Please ask Welker how he's adapting to all of the attention he is now receiving.
Jeff (Iowa)
Buzz, ask Wes if he knows who you are.
Buzzmaster (12:45 PM)
Does anyone?
Michael (Portland, ME)
Brady didn't choke last year. He choked in Denver 2006 throwing that pick. Jeez, if you're going to be a hater, do it right!
Eric (Grayling, MI)
EVERYONE knows who Buzz is, shesh
Ryan (San Diego)
Ask Wes why he cut his long hair
Jon (Chicago)
It is nice to see North Easterners having something to brag about finally...
Brenda (Worcester MA)
Does anyone realy believe NE payed a good game week 17, give NY the real Pat's it's a blowout 49-10 NE
Nick (Boston)
I don't know, Josh - I feel like his three Super Bowl rings at least earn him a brick house? Marble, perhaps?
Sean (Philly)
You are the guy with the Labtop, not many people are walking around with one of those.
Buzzmaster (12:49 PM)
I've been asking a few players when was the last time Bill Belichick did something or said something funny.
Buzzmaster (12:50 PM)
LeKevin Smith said, ''Well, do you mean something we think is funny or something he thinks is funny? I think every day he says something that he thinks is funny. He'll get on you sometimes for mistakes, but he'll do it in a funny way. But if you're the guy who made the mistake, it's probably not that funny. He's good for about 1-2 jokes a day.''
Buzzmaster (12:51 PM)
Eric Alexander said, ''He does funny stuff every day. He's really dry with the national media, but in our team meetings, he's a really funny guy.''
Buzzmaster (12:51 PM)
And our boy Welker said, ''we always have some good laughs. He has a dry sense of humor most of the time, but sometimes you'll see a smirk on his face. He's actually a pretty funny guy.''
Sean (Philly)
So are you going to share any of these "funny" BB moments? *BB from NE, not BB formerly of Baltimore*
Jeff (Iowa)
Is anyone else able to spot Buzz actually asking these questions? I would think the popped collar and Zubaz pants would be a dead giveaway.
Greg(boston)
Bill is actually a pretty good guy, he does his weekly show here and is constantly joking around a bit...he just takes football seriously
Buzzmaster (12:52 PM)
Stephen Spach was funny with his answer to my question. After thinking about it for about 20 seconds, he said, ''When I saw him wearing a suit the other day, that was pretty funny. But, that's about all I got for you. He's pretty much all business.''
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Nice insight into Belichick's sense of humor. Keep those golden nuggest rolling Buzz.
Hayden (Peoria, IL)
Buzz, you should ask some of the patriot players what they think of the BB cut off hoodie
Tom (Chicago)
Belichek is probably going to have a "funny like a clown" moments with Buzz.
LeBrad (Carlisle, PA)
This is Brad's french alter ego.
Jeff (Iowa)
Tell LeKevin Smith to not try to run with an interception like he did when he played at Nebraska, costing us a game.
Jake (Canton)
Just a little backround for my fandom: Back in grade school, my football team was the Patriots, (Pat Patriot logo). We went undefeated and unscored on the entire year. If I dont see 38-0 outscoring opponents 500-0 next year, I'll be a little disappointed.
Greg (Columbus, OH)
Ask Asante Samuel how he thinks we can get Phil Simms to quit calling him Asante Samuels
jeremy(ohio)
go find a back up lineman and just ask away, im sure there arent many people around them
BostonJB (Montana)
invite Welker to a foot race
Jordan (Peoria)
Buzz, you should ask questions using the different personas from Seinfeld like the low talker.
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
Thanks for reminding me of that Jeff. It was Welker's alma mater.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
nuggest = nuggets before everyone gets all over me.
Jason (East Lansing)
You should ask if Bill Belicheck's PBandJ sandwhich is any good.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
The kickers and punters are always looking for someone who will talk to them. I see an opportunity here Buzz.
Kevin (Dallas)
Ask important stuff Buzz. Like "What time does In'n'Out open?" or "When is it okay to turn down a free steak dinner?"
Neal (Philly)
Buzz is trying to get one of the players to buy him a steak for the one he missed last night.
Jamila (Boston)
Ask Gostowski if he ever gets calls from Vinatieri.
Greg(boston)
ask the Pats punter how he feels to have the easiest job on earth???
jeremy(ohio)
ask brady if he can throw a football over that mountain
Jake (Canton)
Ya get Hanson up here, it's not like he ever has much to do anyway. JK Chris, nice punt last game inside the 5!
Brett (Palm Beach)
Is Bill going to be wearing the same old worn out Patriot gear for the Super Bowl, i.e. hoody, torn sleeves?
Chris (Cleveland, OH)
Jeff, I think it would be even more funny if he used the persona of the close talker.
Ines Sainz (Glendale)
Who is this strange little man following me around with a digital camera and a labtop?
Jack (NB Canada)
Belichick likes chips and pretzels!
Buzzmaster (12:58 PM)
Yes, I just saw that on the Hashmarks blog. Bill also doesn't speak any Spanish.
Buzzmaster (1:00 PM)
Tom Brady on Bill Belichick serving him humble pie - ''As far as the team goes, the humble pie talk by Belichick started in Week 3. We didn't practice well all week and we came in the next day at 8 a.m. and he had pulled 20 plays that didn't go well in the '04 game against the Bills and made us watch them. Belichick said to us, to me, 'yeah, throw it into the dirt like that Tom, that really works.' ''
Buzzmaster (1:00 PM)
That's gold right there! Gold!
Hayden (Peoria, IL)
You should ask the back up punter how nice it is to have front row seats to every patriots game
Brad (Carlisle, PA)
Anyone else find it creepy that someone figured out who the hot latino reporter is? Yet still thankful at the same time?
Hashmarks (Glendale)
If I told you once Buzz, I told you a million times stay off of my blog!
Jeff Feagles
I have been waiting 20 years for this, and you think I am going to talk to you little man?
Ryan (Maryland)
Bill belichick should be fired. He cheated, and the reason they may win the superbowl is because he already played the giants in week 17. He knows their plays.
Buzzmaster (1:02 PM)
Blah, blah blah. Whine, whine, whine.
Liz (Big Apple)
where's my steak?
Buzzmaster (1:03 PM)
Gang, we've only got a few more minutes left here and then Scouts Inc.'s Matt Williamson will be stopping by.
Jason (East Lansing)
Buzz, that was sarcasm, not whining.
Jeff (Michigan)
T.O gets to re-pay the Eagles 800k.
Kevin (Dallas)
You should go to Phoenix and tell the NFL brass that Ryan. I know a hotel you can stay at.
Jeff (Iowa)
If there's a Telemundo reporter dressed as a fortune teller, it could be RGR, since his posts always occur five minutes before the rest of us.
Nick (Boston)
A lot is made of how the rest of the country dislikes Boston, but very little is made of how much embarrassment the rest of the country brings Boston every day. Take Ryan in Maryland, for example.
Bill Belichick (Glendale)
Buzz, I heard what you said about me!Not pleased, my friend.
Jeff (Iowa)
Buzz has tremendous whine-dar.
Banya (New York)
I like this guy's material. I need to get him a suit though
Robert (Crystal City Tx)
Hey Buzzmaster you should ask Seau where is he going after the Patriots loose the Superbowl
Sean (Philly)
How is T.O. going to feed his family? I wonder if he is going to run a charity drive, give a donation per sit-up he does in the driveway.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Thanks for allowing us to live vicariously through you today Buzz. I can almost taste the In -n- Out Burger.
ELO/ORLANDO
Surprised we haven't had a RGR posting yet!
Buzzmaster (1:05 PM)
They do have tight security out here.
Chris (Pittsburgh)
Do you think that fortune teller will affetc the line? Maybe I need to make a phone call...
Greg(boston)
what is loosing the super bowl??? Is that like greasing up the trophy or something???
Homer (Springfield)
In - n - Out Burger.... MMmmmmMmmmmMm
Buzzmaster (1:08 PM)
OK, the Patriots session just ended. We've got Matt Williamson up now to talk some ball. Take it away Matt!!
Ian ( Purdue, West Lafayette, Indiana)
MATT!!! How you living man? Please tell the fans here why NE will win the super bowl by atleast 11.
Matt Williamson (1:11 PM)
I am with you Ian. Just a better football team. That O can beat a D in any way possible. Big game experience. Better coaching. Better QB play. Many reasons why.
Jeff (Michigan)
Which player impressed you the most throughout the senior bowl?
Matt Williamson (1:12 PM)
S Ellis was far and away the best player in Mobile. Outstanding. Many did well, but none where in his class. Before the Senior Bowl, I thought Cincy would have a great shot at landing Ellis-no way now.
Denny (Visalia)
What is your # 1 key to this game? Mine is if the Giants D-Line can get to Brady, they have a real chance to win this game
Matt Williamson (1:13 PM)
That is huge-no doubt, but I expect NE to use a lot of three step drops and a short passing game to help nulify that great outside pass rush. I think it is Maroney. I am expecting a very big day from Maroney against NYG's nickel and dime packages with Tuck at DT as well. Many keys to this one though. Belichick vs. Eli is huge as well-don't discout that.
Denny (Visalia)
Does Bad Eli or Good Eli show up on Sunday?
Matt Williamson (1:14 PM)
I am expecting to see Come-From-Behind Eli...which is trouble
Greg(boston)
haven't had a chance to look, but how did Tribble and Cherilus fare at the Bowl??? Both have been projected to be possible round 1, but either fought injuries or position changes this year?
Matt Williamson (1:16 PM)
Tribble had a very long week. Obviously everyone knew that was undersized, but his lack of burst, quickness and technique was surprising. Cherilus was strong. One of the best big men down there. Looks like a late 1st rounder to me-but as a RT. Doesn't have the nimble feet for LT.
Jeff (Michigan)
If you were Tom Coughlin, how would you stop the Patriots defense?
Matt Williamson (1:17 PM)
Outside of a few excellent players, NE's D isn't very impressive. Those ILBs certainly can be exposed, as can the secondary minus Samuel. I just am not excited about the other pass catchers for NYG outside of Burress-who is terrific. Can't become one dimensional if they get down on the scoreboard. NYG must run and run. OHara needs to control Wilfork-easier said than done.
Eric (Michigan)
Where do you think Crable stands now after his poor showing at the Sneior Bowl?
Matt Williamson (1:19 PM)
I wasn't a big fan before the Senior Bowl and his performance down there sure didn't help his cause. Exposes a ton of leg to cut blocks, etc. He is athletic, tall and fast, but I don't want him as a 3-4 OLB because he is just an average pass rusher and can't do battle with OTs all game. I don't like him in space enough for OLB in the 4-3 either. Someone else can have him.
Denny (Visalia)
I don't believe Belichick showed NYG everything NE has to offer in Week 17, just by chance that they would meet again. Do you agree?
Matt Williamson (1:19 PM)
Hmmm...not sure BB looked that deeply into it-especially in a very tight game in Week 17. Can't give you that one.
Joe (Huntsville,AL)
Who is your X factor for the game? I'm going with Bradshaw.
Matt Williamson (1:21 PM)
That is a good one. How about special teams in general. NE has a pretty major advantage overall with ST. If they lose the hidden yardage by a sugnificant amount, that is quite a hole to put yourself in against a team like NE. I wouldn't be shocked if NE makes at least major game changing play in the kicking game.
Joe (Huntsville,AL)
From before the Sugar Bowl to now, how far did Colt Brennan fall?
Matt Williamson (1:21 PM)
Through the floor! He is 185 lbs!!! Weird delivery that is too low. No thanks.
Matt (CT)
Nobody has brought up the fact that the Giants played week 17 with nothing on the line and played great. What if they play better because of the magnatude of the game? THEY WIN! NO?
Matt Williamson (1:23 PM)
If they do play better in this game than they did in Week 17-sure, they have a shot to win-no question. But, I think you answered your own question. It is much easier to play loose with nothing on the line. NE isn't going to flinch under the extremely bright lights.
Jeff (Michigan)
For the draft, how do you think the top 10 would be?
Matt Williamson (1:25 PM)
In no order these are the names that should be right up there: J Long, Clady, Ryan, McFadden, Ellis, Dorsey, C Long. Then it gets foggy. This is a weird draft in that there is that group that I just mentioned then a huge pile of guys in the B+ neighborhood. Much will have to do with need after that and picking 20 isn't THAT much differnet than picking 10 right now. However, some juniors' stock could really improve over the next month or so.
Denny (Visalia)
There is no way that the Cowboys move up to #1, they would have to give Parcells a ton. Jerry Jones can't be that stupid can he? If he is basing his decision on what AD did last year....they don't come around that often
Matt Williamson (1:26 PM)
I couldn't agree more. They are talking about giving up Barber and both their #1s for McFadden? Crazyness.
Matt (Grand Rapids)
Who should the Lions draft at #15 and which WR will they end up picking?
Matt Williamson (1:27 PM)
They are about due to pick a WR, huh? Detroit is a tough one to predict-they STILL need everything! Honestly, what position on that team can you say that they are set at? Rodgers is leaving. Roy W wants out and is a UFA a year from now. Kitna is getting old. So many issues.
John (Cincinnati)
If Ellis is not available at 9th pick for Bengals, who will be the pick? d-line/lb?
Matt Williamson (1:28 PM)
DL is a bigger need than LB. However, Cincy could switch to the 3-4 this year and that could make sense. If they do make the switch a pass rushing OLB like Golston would make a lot of sense. They do get a lot of LBs back from the infirmary.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Dan Connor had a nice Senior Bowl. Any word on the frontrunners for drafting him?
Matt Williamson (1:29 PM)
Guessing that he ends up in the late teens to mid 20s. Personally, I would rather have Rivers and maybe Lofton from OU.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Should the Vikes go with a WR as their 1st rounder or look to beef up that underwhelming secondary?
Matt Williamson (1:30 PM)
Assuming that they are going to live and die with Jackson-which seems like their only option right now-WR has to be the pick. M Kelly? D Jackson? Their next need would be a threatening pass rushing DE-would make that secondary look much better.
Ryan (San Diego)
Where do the Chargers draft? THey have every starter coming back, besides the ones they cut. Oline? Dline? Safety?
Matt Williamson (1:32 PM)
They are in exceptional shape, as they can go any direction they want or just take the best athlete available. The spots I would look hardest at is a NT to eventually replace and in the short term extend the career of J Williams, Right side of the OL help and Safety. They will also take a RB pretty high once Turner leaves.
dino (pittsburgh)
james hardy will be a great nfl wideout. 6' 7" tall and catches every ball he can get his hands on
Matt Williamson (1:32 PM)
Yeah, he is a guy who is about to shoot up boards at a rapid rate. Could possiblly end up in that Top 10 mix.
joey prestonsburg,ky
how will the lay-over hurt the giants momentum?will this help the patriots to the 19-0 record?go pats, big fan
Matt Williamson (1:33 PM)
That is one aspect that hasn't been talked about enough. If I were the Giants, I wanted to play this game last Monday. They were rolling. Don't want to sit and wait....and give BB two weeks to prepare!
Nate (NC)
Being the QB situation is rocky for the Panthers, should they draft a QB this draft? Which QB in the draft has the most upside for an organization like the panthers without a long wait?
Matt Williamson (1:34 PM)
Fox is on the hot seat and they have to win now. Therefore, I bet they ignore QB early in this draft-although as you said, it is a major need. They have both OTs up for free agency, could use a DE opposite Peppers. One more LB couldn't hurt and their top need is still another pass catcher to take some pressure off S Smith.
Matt (Morgantown, WV)
What are your thoughts on Owen Schmitt?
Matt Williamson (1:36 PM)
I like him a lot. VERY strong and competitive. Catches the ball much better than many realize and can do a little something with the ball in his hands. Odd offense to come out of though and you don't see him coming downhill and running many Isos as a lead blocker. He sure looks capable though.
Denny (Visalia)
Please tell me Linehan has one more year to at least show the Rams some respectability or he is out....Right?
Matt Williamson (1:36 PM)
That sounds about right
JC (NY)
What time do the G-MEN start the insanity?
Matt Williamson (1:36 PM)
Sorry guys-I really have no idea. I try to ignore media day as much as possible.
joey prestonsburg,ky
matt also does it look like andre woodson is going to chicago?if so does it help them in a big way?
Matt Williamson (1:37 PM)
He looked terrible at the Senior Bowl. Slow deliberate delivery. Still has a long way to go. I wouldn't use their mid first rounder on him.
dave ( nyc )
Any feeling if the Dolphins will trade down or stick with the #1 pick?? if they stick with #1 who do you see going?
Matt Williamson (1:38 PM)
C Long would be my pick. Gotta think that they are going to play a 3-4 with Porter and Taylor as the OLBs. Long could be a Seymour type of guy in time at DE. VERY little bust potential. Great player. However, trading down is always a fine option for a team that needs a lot.
D (MI)
I use to feel that Kenny Phillips and Calais Campbell were the most overrated players in this years draft, but I now have to say Schmitt has definitely taken that award.
Matt Williamson (1:39 PM)
I am not projecting Schmidt to the first round. Could be the first FB taken. Fifth round or so. Settle.
Denny (Visalia)
Who is the safest sure fire bet in the 2008 draft?
Matt Williamson (1:39 PM)
C Long like I said. Does everythign so well.
Nathan (Columbus, IN)
would the pats have ben ranked first the entire season with their strength of schedule if is was like BCS systemin college?
Matt Williamson (1:40 PM)
Sure-they never lost! Easy division, but still beat good teams like the entire NFC East, Indy and PGH amongst others.
Jon, Newport TN
DO you see Ainge going 3rd or 4th round? or am a little to high on him. I think he will be a gependable back-up, billy Volek type. What do you think?
Matt Williamson (1:41 PM)
Yeah, that seems like a good comparision. I liked him more before I saw him live. Worries me with his arm and inability to really scramble, but he has a little bit of that "IT factor". Off the bench to provide a spark.
Matt (DC)
Could Manningham fit down in carolina?
Matt Williamson (1:42 PM)
Wouldn't be a bad fit at all, but maybe a pass catcher with more size to help near the red zone. Great TE would be fantastic, but I don't see one in this draft. Could live with Manningham though.
Nick (Cleveland)
Dorsey isn't the safest pick?
Matt Williamson (1:42 PM)
That isn't a knock in Dorsey and I think he looks great, but he isn't the technician that Long is.
Chris (Seal Beach CA)
What do the Chargers need to do to make it to the big game next season?
Matt Williamson (1:43 PM)
Hope and pray that NE allows Moss to leave via Free Agency. They could surely make a run next year. Still have to admit, I am not a believer in the head coach though.
Jon, Newport Tn
Manningham i believe is the best WR in the draft. I watched Ainge for 4 years and the it is a good thing and David Cutcliffe helped him this last year
Matt Williamson (1:44 PM)
Manningham is very good, but I want to see him get off the jam in the NFL. He isn't very big or strong.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Do you think Randy Moss would consider a return to Minnesota or has that train come and gone?
Matt Williamson (1:44 PM)
I would take FAR less $$$ to play with Brady as opposed to the least accurate QB in the leage. Can't see it.
Nick (Cleveland)
Does Long have the speed to disrupt in a 4-3? Or is he strictly a 3-4 end?
Matt Williamson (1:45 PM)
Could do both. Much like his dad really. Not a Freeny type who will line up wide, but can line up against big RTs and TEs and play both the run and pass. Might not ever rank amongst the sack leaders, but his teammates and coaches will love having him out there.
Ryan (San Diego)
The Chargers have home games with both the Colts and the Pats next year. Those will be huge in determining homefield. If the Chargers get the #1 seed they can and will beat all challengers
Matt Williamson (1:46 PM)
WAY too early to discuss that. Lets' see what happens in free agency and the draft first!
Birmingham, AL
what player is the best fit for Tampa Bay in the draft and why.
Matt Williamson (1:48 PM)
TBay isn't in bad shape as they enter the draft. To me, they have to go WR. Galloway is great, but is old and he really needs someone who threatens a D on his opposite side. What if Galloway went down? TBay's season could be over! Might even need a vet free agent WR and a #1 draft pick. M Kelly? L Sweed? Would lean towards a bigger guy, but I don't think they have have to be pickey-just get a potential stud WR.
alex - philly
mw, i know you like the eagles talent. i think theyre prob a playoff team with a healthy mcnabb this year, u agree? anyway, who could you see them in the mix for at pick 19?
Matt Williamson (1:49 PM)
I am a believer in the Eagles. Before you talk playoffs though-just remember, that division is brutal! Philly also finished the season very strong with a healthy McNabb and very well could have had the toughest schedule in the entire league. They could use some peices though. Most importantly is a big WR for McNabb. The guys he is throwing to are not good enough. Maybe a TE as well as a WR. DE opposite Cole and a young S to develop. Depth isn't what it used to be accross the board either.
Denny (Visalia)
Jonathan Stewart intrigues me, where do you see the best fit for him?
Matt Williamson (1:50 PM)
Big fan of his here and I think he is the 2nd best RB in this draft. But, I am also not a big believer in drafting RBs high. Hosuton would be the highest he could go I would think.
Broad Street Brian (Philly)
What a great question Alex fom Philly, But I have an add on, Did DRC from Tenn St. play his way into the first rd at the senior bowl?
Matt Williamson (1:52 PM)
Very well could have. Exceptional looking prospect. The end of the first round makes sense (think A Cromartie a few years ago) because he would be going to an established playoff team that could wait for him to develop. The NFL is still a LONG way from Tenn ST! How about Dallas' 2nd first rounder? I like that.
Will (Bensalem, Pa)
Should the Eagles go OT early in the draft since Runyan and Thomas are getting long in the tooth?
Matt Williamson (1:52 PM)
I hear ya, but I think this team needs a quick fix. WR
Brian (DC)
The niners need help at wideout, who do you see them picking?
Matt Williamson (1:53 PM)
They sure do....but that isn't their only area of need! Curious to see how their OL shakes out in free agency, but WR is still their #1 need. No question. Esp with Martz in control of the O-they will get some pass catchers.
Denny (Visalia)
What players stock dropped the most at the Senior Bowl?
Matt Williamson (1:53 PM)
Maybe Brennan. Woodson?
Hayden (Peoria, IL)
Who do the Titans need to draft to have a better chance next season?
Matt Williamson (1:54 PM)
I seem to be saying the same thing for every team, but Tenn desperatly needs a WR to grow up with VY. Those WRs he has now wouldn't start for just about any team in this league. A bunch of #3 and #4 WRs there now.
Mike (Carbondale, IL)
With all the RBs declaring and a recent trend for RBs to fall in the draft, couldn't one of the 1st round guys (Mendenhall, Stewart, Felix) fall deep into the 2nd round?
Matt Williamson (1:55 PM)
For sure. There are a ton of them and if you have a RB need in say the middle of the first round and only McFadden is off the board when you pick-why not wait until round 2? I bet a few very good RB prospects are sitting there when round 3 opens. How many teams have RB at the top of their wish list? Maybe 5-7 come DDay?
Carl (Lansing, MI)
Will Henne go on the first day?
Matt Williamson (1:57 PM)
The first day is only two rounds this year, so no. I like Henne, but dont love him. I expect his stock to escalate (as it did in Mobile) beacuse he is a good thrower, but doesn't move well to avoid the rush-which evaluators will not see at the Combine and personal workout.
Ryan (San Diego)
Josh Johnson is intriguing. Where do you see him going? I know that Jim Harbaugh raves about him and said he's the best qb in college. Now his brother is the head coach of a team in need of a qb, and they run the west coast right? Match made in heaven I'd say
Matt Williamson (1:58 PM)
He is the real deal. West Coast QB for sure. 3rd round-honestly. To the Ravens? Maybe. I can buy that.
Joe (Huntsville,AL)
Do teams look at long snappers in the draft or are they typically free agents?
Matt Williamson (1:58 PM)
Maybe one drafted every other year or so. At most.
david (hawai'i)
would colt fit in indy if they could get him in maybe the third round as a back up for peyton
Matt Williamson (1:59 PM)
3rd round is way too high. Indy does need to develop a backup QB eventually and could use a smart guy.
Broad Street Brian (Philly)
Did any of the O-linmen impress you this year? I got the feel the d-line was having it's way for both teams.
Matt Williamson (2:00 PM)
Chris Williams is a good one. So is Carl Nicks. Both could go in Round 1. Cherlius as well. Those three were the best in Mobile.
Matt Williamson (2:00 PM)
Okay everyone, I am out. Looks like the Giants media day is starting as well. Adios.
Buzzmaster (2:01 PM)
Thanks Matt! I am a little winded here. I think we just had an NFL Super Bowl Media Day first - Manning, Coughlin and a couple of other guys started early! We were all eating lunch and and we had to rush back out. I guess those guys were real excited to talk to all of us.
Denny (Visalia)
What's the worst question you've heard asked so far?
Michael (Portland, ME)
What's the dumbest question you've heard so far, Buzz?
Buzzmaster (2:02 PM)
I'll keep my ears open. Nothing too terrible just yet. Though, all the international TV stations were asking the players to read their TV statin's slogan. They all tried to get the players to say it. Tom Brady said he couldn't say it. Every station is showing a piece of paper to these guys, but a lot of them can't say it.
Buzzmaster (2:02 PM)
Oh, by the way. Ines in her wedding dress - http://myespn.go.com/profile/hashmarks.
Buzzmaster (2:03 PM)
We've got a whole bunch of players sitting by themselves in the stands. Anyone have a question for some of these poor guys? I might go sit and have a chat.
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
Turn down any steaks while you were away?
Kevin (Dallas)
They were talking sports while you were gone Buzz. SPORTS!
Buzzmaster (2:04 PM)
All I know is that I'm staying away from Aaron Ross. Word is that he was sick all over the Giants airplane the other day.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Need to know who you have before I can get a question for you Buzz.
Buzzmaster (2:05 PM)
Just think anyone besides Manning, Coughlin, Burress, Strahan, etc.
Glendale PD
There is an APB for a short man at media day with a laptop around his neck, wanted for questioning on why he turned down a free steak?
Matt (Schenectady, NY)
Talk to Steve Smith. Hes a great guy. One day before his plane leaves for the Super Bowl he was up here in Albany for a telethon for the Center for Disablilty Services.
Brian (LA)
Ask them what they are having for lunch.
Jeff (Michigan)
Ask them if they had a choice to play in the freezing weather again, would they?
tom* (parkville, md)
Someone needs to catch Ines on the rebound.
Kevin (Dallas)
Ask them if they know Chris O'Donnell.
Denny (Visalia)
Get a megaphone and ask Aaron Ross if he has ever heard of a vomit bag on a plane?
Buzzmaster (2:10 PM)
I can see Plaxico is rocking some cool shades.
Al (Philly)
Do we know how far Randy Moss must stay away from the woman who got a restaining order against him? Can the Giants buy her endzone seats, so that legally, he wouldn't be able to score without violating the restaining order?
pat (nyc)
ask them if they feel lonely
Chris (LA CA)
lets go g-men Clap clap clap clap clap
Cal (St. Paul, MN)
Come on Buzz, WE WANT TYNES!! WE WANT TYNES!! WE WANT TYNES!!
Kevin (Dallas)
What kinda spread did they have Buzz?
Mike(Charlotte)
What was the lunch spread like?
Buzzmaster (2:14 PM)
Yes, first things first. Lunch was more like breakfast. It was a full-on breakfast spread with eggs with peppers, hash browns, bacon. They did have some wraps for the healthy folks that didn't want breakfast, but I stayed clear of that.
Matt (DC)
Did Toomer get to reminisce with woodson after the conference championship game about Lloyd and the Big House?
Jeff (Michigan)
I want to know if they have had an In N Out burger.
Buzzmaster (2:15 PM)
I was just listening to Michael Strahan. He said about his fairy tale ending, ''First of all, winning. You know what, quitting when I can walk. Knowing that I can still do it. Not walking away with people still saying, wow, he used to be a good player.''
Chris (LA CA)
dude, ship me some food...im soooooooooo hungry
Denny (Visalia)
Screw the lunch spread how close were you sitting to Inez?
Buzzmaster (2:15 PM)
She had some security around her. So not very.
Buzzmaster (2:16 PM)
Oh yeah, Strahan was also asked about coaches' contracts being guaranteed. He said, ''What's up with that? Coaches contracts are guaranteed and ours aren't? If I was a coach, I would say go ahead and fire me, I'll be paid for three more years.''
Mike (chicago)
Go ask Steve Smith this: "Steve, why is it fair that you could play for the Panthers all season then up and join the Giants for the Super Bowl?"
Buzzmaster (2:16 PM)
OK, I'm going to go see if I can find him.
pat (nyc)
are they excited about the halftime show this year?
Hayden (Peoria, IL)
Ask Steve Smith how many times he gets mistaken for the Panthers reciever
Joe (Huntsville,AL)
You didn't eat too much did you Buzz? You know, just in case...
Buzzmaster (2:16 PM)
I've got to be prepared for later today.
Denny (Visalia)
Security? You're the almighty Buzz, you should have free reign around the lunch room at least!
Kevin (Dallas)
Ask: Poptarts or Toaster Strudels? If they answer wrong, walk away disgusted.
Cal (St. Paul, MN)
I was thinking the same thing as Al (Philly) that would be a sweet move by the Giants. What is more troubling though is that I had the same thoughts as someone in Philly.
tom* (parkville, md)
Question for any player: What was the most ridiculous request you had for free Super Bowl tickets?
Buzzmaster (2:19 PM)
I found No. 90, Ryan Kuehl. He said, ''Hell yeah. I've had people I don't even know asking me for tickets. People coming up to me saying, I know you know me. My favorite was someone saying they were going to throw a party back in NY for the Super Bowl, but now that we're in the SB, I'll throw the party in AZ, so get me into the game. Unless you're immediate, immediate, immediate family, you're not getting in.''
Kenny (Massachusetts)
hey buzz whats media day like
Buzzmaster (2:20 PM)
Craziness wrapped in craziness stuffed with craziness.
Sean (Philly)
That wasn't security, that was the INS. They moved in after she tried to get citizenship by marrying Brady.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
Darn Buzz I missed the MB and now you have a SB chat. Lucky Me!
tom* (parkville, md)
So, if Ines made a move for you, Buzz, what kind of rampage could we expect from Mrs. Buzz?
Buzzmaster (2:21 PM)
Well, what happens in AZ, stays in AZ, right? Isn't that a West Coast thing?
Christian (High Point, NC)
Hey Buzz, sorry if it's already been asked, but are there any non-serious media folks about? Kimmel, etc.?
Buzzmaster (2:21 PM)
That's what Media Day is all about. See the part in the Pats Media Day where Brady got a marriage proposal.
Albi (Manhattan)
Ask Strahan that now he is almost Fifty and older than the coach, he is considering retiring?
Kevin (Dallas)
We're not talking to Buzz, Chad. It's a whole free steak thing.
Joe (Huntsville,AL)
You need bacon to help even out all that craziness
Godish (Chicago)
Ask everyone what it's like to play 22 years after the '85 Bears.
Cal (St. Paul, MN)
Buzz, ask Kevin's question about Pop Tarts and Toaster Strudels, but instead of walking away disgusted, you should punch them in the face. I'm sure you could take the punters and the kickers from both teams in a fist fight. Just be sure not to drop your laptop.
Homer (Springfield)
Craziness MMMMMMmmmmmmm....
Joe (Huntsville,AL)
Um Christian Buzz is there
ELO/ORLANDO
hey is Couglin smiling or frowning?
A.J. (oklahoma city)
Buzz how does one go about getting a job like you have? You may be up there next to Strip Club Bouncer in my book...
Buzzmaster (2:22 PM)
I'll take that as a compliment.
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
Hey Buzz, my firm can do your divorce!
Ric Flair (NC)
Ask them if they've ever beaten the man. Because, to be the man, you gotta beat the man. WOOOOOOOOO!
Chad (Savannah, GA)
The only think better than steak is free steak!
Kevin (Dallas)
Is Eli nervous or terrified?
Buzzmaster (2:23 PM)
I walked past his booth. He looked pretty relaxed. Though this is still 5 days away from the game.
Mike (Happy Valley, Pa)
Buzz, besides Plaxico, am I still the only person who thinks the Giants are going to win?
Christian (High Point, NC)
You should've followed up the question with 'Did Mike Tice ask you for any tickets?'
Buzzmaster (2:25 PM)
Hashmarks - http://myespn.go.com/profile/hashmarks - is reporting that they think there are a lot fewer members of the media here for the Giants session. I am reporting in the Buzz chat that I agree.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
Mike, I actually had a dream last night that the G-Men won. That doesn't mean I think they will win but my money is on them to at least cover.
Buzzmaster (2:27 PM)
Kellie Pickler of American Idol fame is walking around.
Ryan (San Diego)
Of course...who wants to worry about interviewing a bunch of players from the 19th loser
Kevin (Dallas)
Buzz, ask Eli if he can call Peyton up so you can interview him.
Dwight Schrute (Scranton, PA)
A vote was taken here at DM-Scranton and we think the Giants are going to win it also (They are also a lot closer to our sales terrioty and I need all the sales I can get. Damn Andy Benard)
mike (destruction island, WA)
hey buzz, can you hook me up with some tickets???
Buzzmaster (2:28 PM)
No, NEXT QUESTION!
Cal (St. Paul, MN)
Kellie Pickler is walking around, Buzz give her the thumbs up sign for me!!
Sean (Philly)
Look at that hard hitting reporting, even incuding a reference. Buzz, how can they keep you from having a Wiki page after that? Even Ines has one.
Mike(Charlotte)
Buzz, Ask Kellie Pickler if she will marry me.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
So Buzz who wins Florida?
Buzzmaster (2:28 PM)
Well, if this were last year, I'd go with the Colts.
Denny (Visalia)
Ask Eli is he took steroids while trying to beat his brother in the Oreo commercial
A.J. (oklahoma city)
Does Eli look like he's like 15 in person, or is that just on TV?
Buzzmaster (2:29 PM)
No, he's a young looking dude. I wonder if he still gets carded.
JT (Boston, MA)
Do the Giants know that the Patriots have TRADEMARKED "19-0 THE PERFECT SEASON"? It was Trademarked last week by the Kraft Group, Serial Number 77374670 (see uspto.gov)
Buzzmaster (2:30 PM)
Good question.
Buzzmaster (2:31 PM)
I just asked Freeman and he said, ''Is that even possible? I guess you've got to do what you've got to do. It's a capitalist society. I don't blame them.''
Buzzmaster (2:32 PM)
Oh yeah, he also said I needed a new Blackberry. I guess I'm not as tech savvy as I thought.
Steve (NJ)
That's impressive. Usually takes a year to get the PTO to put a TM through. (It's what i do for a living.)
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
Kellie Pickler is dumb as a rock, but hot as hell. Sounds perfect!
Carl (Lansing, MI)
New York had 57,350 home foreclosures in 2007 and Mass. had 41,487...at least NY won at something!
David Caruso
That's nothing, I have the trademark for pausing while talking. Captain Kirk owes me millions.....
Eli Manning
I still get carded. Whenever I try to get onto ESPN's campus, I tell them I am a Manning, and the guards tell me I look nothing like Peyton Manning. Then I have to get out my ID, and explain who I am.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Buzz a word of advice: Do not get behind Lorenzen in the buffet line or you will go away hungry.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
Buzz best watch who he asks what. He might actually get shown on ESPNEWS and we get to see what he looks like.
Matt (Schenectady, NY)
Yes!!! Finally some bulletin board material! Buzz, as a Giants fan I am begging you to spread that around. (Even though it probably won't work)
Gray (Chicago)
That trademark info makes me want the Pats to lose so badly...that and the book already written.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
George Brett had ZERO foreclosures in 2007!
Denny (Visalia)
JT got the first real question ofhe day, congrats!
Carl (Lansing, MI)
Buzz, I think that you should have done the interviews in a walking boot with a thing of white flowers...
Christian (High Point, NC)
Didn't the Lakers trademark Threepeat?
Greg(boston)
I think the fact that someone can trademark words in the English languae is ridiculous...I mean if i post that the Pat's have never 3 peated, do I have to pay Riley, or what about the Pat's Refuse to Lose, there's some to Coach Calipari, i mean really, it's absurd
Christian (High Point, NC)
I thought Caruso's trademark was to rip off or put on his sunglasses at pauses in his sentence?
Buzzmaster (2:35 PM)
Todd Londot is carrying Kellie Pickler on his shoulders so she can ask Michael Strahan a question. I think she's reporting for the Tonight Show.
Steve (NJ)
Greg, it's a good thing you're not a lawyer; TMs are only important for COMMERCIAL USE. Not conversational use. And they are very useful in product identification and consumer goodwill.
Kevin (Dallas)
Pat Riley got the "three-peat" which was a huge jinx.
Christian (High Point, NC)
I'm going to go trademark 18-1
Chad (Savannah, GA)
I trademarked Buzzmaster but the patent office told me it was only worth $0.01 everytime it was said or mentioned. I am waiting until 2030 so I can collect my $1000 dollars.
Buzzmaster (2:35 PM)
I think it would cost more to do the paperwork than to get the royalties.
Denny (Visalia)
I am trademarking.....No Free Steak for you!
Jeff (Michigan)
I just trademarked Buzz loves free steak. NOT.
Greg(boston)
I'd say it's a good thing I'm not a lawyer too, most of the laws in this country are silly...
Buzzmaster (2:38 PM)
Eli just called himself a mama's boy over on Hashmarks - http://myespn.go.com/profile/hashmarks. That's classic.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I'm not a lawyer but I once stayed at a Holiday Inn.
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
Like what Greg? Murder? Robbery?
Steve (NJ)
I do TMs for multinational web-based commercial entities. It pays very nicely. I (ahem) drive a 1995 Pontiac.
A.J. (oklahoma city)
I'm trademarking The 12th Man... Oh wait
Actual Customer (Burger king)
Get me a skeak!.....er Whopper!
Chris (LA CA)
22 minutes until lunch..i dunno if i can make it
Albi (Manhattan)
Buzz, I'm a close family friend from your early childhood. Can you get me tickets and a hotel for the rest of the week?
Hayden (Peoria, IL )
Like speeding. Thats a law that is not nessicary.
Kevin (Dallas)
Copyright infringement is punishable by death in Texas. Of course, so is jaywalking.
Jeff (Michigan)
I love amendment 2, the right to bear arms. Can anyone find me a Kodiak bear? I already have Grizzly, Black, and Brown.
Sean (Philly)
I trademarked the word trademark and tradmarking, Denny and Jeff, I await your checks.
Buzzmaster (2:41 PM)
Amani Toomer doesn't like the trademarking idea either. I asked him and he said, ''It's hard to say you're 19-0 when you're 18-0. THe last chapter hasn't been written yet.''
Buzzmaster (2:42 PM)
He also told me that he is backing Obama in the presidential race. He said he likes Obama's stimulus package. I was looked at funny when I was the only one giggling when he said that.
John (Portland, ME)
I wish every day was media day!
Chief Wiggum (Springfield)
There's not a court in the world that would put a baby in jail ... except maybe Texas.
Carl Everett
I trademarked the idea that dinosaurs did not exist.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
I think Buzz would remember someone named Albi.
Sean (Philly)
Way to go Amani, give them some bulletin board material...
Christian (High Point, NC)
Are we sure that 'the Kraft group' is an actual legal entity of Bob Kraft's? I bet it's a Giants fan doing it.
Carl (Lansing, MI)
Can you ask Eli if the super bowl goes to 7 ots like he did against arkansas in colege will he feel better prepared?
matt (framingham,ma)
Hey Chris, did you make lunch, I did, I had KFC YUM! GO PATS!
Greg(boston)
Amani Toomer is a very smart man...You should ask him if he saw that Hilary predicted a Giant victory for the GMen
Batch (Boston)
Man I route for the Pats but I love Strahan, dude gives great interviews and seems like a genuine person
chris (westport, ct)
the jints are going to need a lot more than bulletin boards material to win this game..
Gary Sheffiled (Detroit)
I didn't trademark the term 'throw someone under the bus' but man, I perfected it.
shante (paterson,nj)
i think the giants are gonna win
Buzzmaster (2:45 PM)
Eli's favorite movie is Hoosiers. Is it really or is he just saying that as his team this week embarks on trying to make a major upset as well?
Albi (Manhattan)
It was very early childhood, before he was able to retain memories.
Paul (Ft Worth)
I find Strahan's gap in his teeth to be very captivating during interviews.
Chris (LA CA)
its only 11:45 on the west coast!! and for some reason my 18 story office building smells like hambugers!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
So Buzz, what was Pickler's question? Inquiring minds want to know.
Buzzmaster (2:46 PM)
I walked away before I heard. I had had enough of Mr. Londot showing off his strength and coolness.
Will (Bensalem, Pa)
He is lying.
Patrick (Agawam MA)
They don't keep score on bulliten boards anymore, they have these cool new electric ones that can be updated everytime Moss scores.
Steve (NJ)
Eli kinda reminds me of a less-talented, shorter, Jimmy Chitwood. In the sense that he's white and male.
Chris O'Donnell
Where's the mailman? I've been waiting for new scripts for about 7 years.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
So go track down Pickler and interview her as to her interview question. Earn that steak dinner that you turned down man!
Michael Myers (Clown Costume Haddenfield)
Have mine eyes deceived me!!! Is this...can it be? Yes, it's Buzz!!
Carl (Lansing, MI)
Amani Toomer did not win the Junior High decathalon. He was the favorite going in but lost to Kwame Jeffers. Will you ask him if that still upsets him? (thank you google)
Buzzmaster (2:48 PM)
Carl, you have too much time on your hands. I like it.
Kevin (Dallas)
Anything special going on today Buzz?
Buzzmaster (2:49 PM)
Nothing all week. Kind of a lull in the sports world until MLB season starts.
A.J. (oklahoma city)
Ask Toomer about playing in the Alamo Bowl his senior yr at Michigan... Dropped a pass in the end zone for the go ahead score
Chris (Detroit)
Also ask Amani why he plays football when he owns a world class clothing line.
Matt (Schenectady, NY)
Hashmarks says that Kevin Boss told them Eli took his o-line and tight ends to Firebirds Steakhouse last night? See, those guys know that you can never miss a free night at a steakhouse. Is that where you were supposed to go last night, Buzz?
Buzzmaster (2:51 PM)
Hashmarks is reporting that Shockey is not with the team this week. The Giants aren't sure if he'll come down to AZ.
Michael Myers (Clown Costume Haddonfield)
Is it me, or does Burress always seem to be running in slow motion?
Jack (Chicago)
Buzz, is there anything more pointless than media day at the Superbowl? Have you learned anything today new of use in breaking this game down?
Buzzmaster (2:52 PM)
What game? Of course not.
Buzzmaster (2:52 PM)
Uh oh. I just saw Rachel Nichols talking to Aaron Ross. What is she THINKING? He was sick all over the plane ther other day.
Jack (Toronto)
Also ask Amani in your best Schwarzenegger voice if it's a toomah
Patrick (Agawam MA)
Burress has 5 yard legs, so yes, hes in slow motion, but he still goes faster than Ellis Hobbs
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
So tomorrow Buzz will be all alone at the stadium doing his post-media day chat. Guests may include the guy who paints the lines on the field, the people who replace the paper towels in the bathrooms, and the dude who deliveres the frozen french fries to the concession stands.
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
Gotta be tough for Shockey to not be able to play, but he should be there.
Godish (Chicago)
Ask Belichick if he has the cure for cancer, or, at least the common cold.
Jeff (Michigan)
Rachael Nichols!! Ask her for her phone number for me. Thanks Buzz.
Buzzmaster (2:54 PM)
Hmmmmm. Who is she going to talk to, me or multimillionaire Aaron Ross? This is a tough one for her, I bet.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Sounds like Shockey might be preparing to Tomlinson the team (ignoring them and pouting because a player is injured; I'm trademarking it).
Samuel Jackson (30,000 feet)
Snakes on a Plane!
Buzzmaster (2:54 PM)
That movie was on TV last night.
Michael Myers (Clown Costume Haddonfield)
I just asked my Magic 8 Ball if the Giants would win: Answer is no...so, kids, there's no need to watch on Sunday..the Magic 8 Ball has spoken
Sean (Philly)
Isn't Ross sick, so you have a slight chance on that one Buzz.
Buzzmaster (2:55 PM)
He still has a million dollars.
A.J. (oklahoma city)
You mean to tell me Buzz isn't a multimillionaire?? I had your job pegged all wrong!
Chris (Detroit)
We dont want Rachel to talk to you, just give her the laptop please.
Steve (NJ)
If Shockey doesn't come to AZ, he doesn' deserve a ring. That's bush league, there. Might be a paddlin'.
Buzzmaster (2:58 PM)
Plaxico is fired up to be playing in the game.
Buzzmaster (2:59 PM)
He said, ''I didn't get up at 4:45 am every day from March through May to go to the training complex to play through the regular seaosn and playoffs to go to the SB and lose. I'm here to win.''
Carl (Lansing, MI)
Buzz, don't feel bad about your Wiki status. Michael Strahan's page has been flagged for too many ellipses...
Chad (Savannah, GA)
Buzz I think you should keep this chat going through the game Sunday. That way you could own the record for the longest SN chat ever.
Sean (Philly)
Way to go Chris, he gave her the laptop, and he doesn't have anything to run the chat.
Christian (High Point, NC)
Buzz has slowed down ... something going down? (Possibly literally, like his laptop)
Buzzmaster (3:00 PM)
Just trying to get as much stuff as I can as the final few minutes are running out on Media Day.
Steve (NJ)
Well, there's his first problem. 4:45 AM? What is he, nuts? A sensible man gets up around 7:00. 8:00 at times, if he has my commute.
Jeff (Iowa)
Plus, Plax took practices off all season, so he should be well rested.
Carl (Lansing, MI)
If you don't mind getting too close to Ross, you can ask him about his wife. She is a world class 400m runner.
Buzzmaster (3:01 PM)
Also, I just walked past Chris Berman, who was walking around. From the looks of the people going up to him, he should have had his own booth. It's crazy.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
I just read that Wilbon had angioplasty. If you see him Buzz tell him SN wishes him well.
Ines Sainz (Glendale)
Give her the laptop. Anything to keep him from following me.
Buzzmaster (3:02 PM)
Kellie Pickler has been walking around passing out those eye black stickers that players wear. They all say ''Pickler'' on them and the players are actually wearing them. Where's mine?
John (Portland, ME)
How many times did Berman say GGGGGG-Men in the past hour?
Jeff (Michigan)
Buzz, you should beg people for tickets. You'd get punched in the face.
Jeff (Iowa)
Plax must be getting up with A-Rod to work out.
Erik (St. Pete)
I made a promise to myself to never have a job where I had to be up before 10 am.
Denny (Visalia)
Is there a buzzer that goes off to end the session or maybe a gun?
Buzzmaster (3:03 PM)
Just a loud voice, the voice from God that gives a count down.
Jeff (Iowa)
Perhaps your reputation among the ladies precedes you, Buzz.
Buzzmaster (3:04 PM)
The Giants are posing for their team picture on some bleachers now.
Pete (NY)
Buzz, what was the dumbest question you've heard asked to a player?
Buzzmaster (3:05 PM)
I tried to listen to as many questions as I could, and the places that I was, I didn't hear or see that one terribly annoying person. There doesn't seem to be one really annoying person here like there has been in past years. That one person that asks those really uncomfortable questions. That's good, I guess. There were lots of silly questions, but not ''that guy.''
Kellie Picker (Talking to Carrie Underwood)
Do you know some guy name Buzz, walking around in a popped collar?
Kevin (Dallas)
Buzz has a wife and fish at home. He's a respectable family man.
Chad (Savannah, GA)
That's not God Buzz it's George Brett.
Chris (Detroit)
I claim your media pass after you are done with it.
A.J. (oklahoma city)
How tall is Wes Welker? Like oompa loompa level?
Lady Buzz (Bristol)
Those women can have him.
Sean (Philly)
So Kitna made it to the Superbowl? He just has to do the countdown for Media Day instead of playing?
Chris (Detroit)
Poor Shockey isnt gonna be in this year's yearbook. There'll be no place for him to sign.
Sean (Philly)
Kellie, he is over there in the flip-flops.
Jeff (Iowa)
Buzz's reputation with the ladies is legend - wait for it - ary.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Buzz you should have Pickler sign your media credential then you can auction it off for charity (or a steak dinner).
Buzzmaster (3:08 PM)
OK. I'm going to go out and make a bold prediction....
Buzzmaster (3:08 PM)
10 years from now every media outlet will get on board and just put a really attractive female in skimpy clothes and send them out to Media Day to represent them. It's ridiculous. Most of them are from entertainment or international stations. But in 10 years, this place is going to be running amuck with those people. There won't be any ''real'' reporters, just the abnormally attractive females.
Franky (Chicago)
For real, I wonder how Shockey is doing......
Kellie Pickler (approaching Buzz)
Excuse me, are you really him? You're the guy who turned down a free steak dinner?
Godish (10 yrs from now, Chicago)
Honey, I need more towels for all my drooling.
Jeff (Iowa)
I can see it now. 200 women in bikinis and Buzz with a laptop and flip flops...
Jeff (Michigan)
If that comes true Buzz, I am joining in.
Christian (High Point, NC)
If there's nothing but abnormally attractive females, won't that cause all the males to want to start going? The pendulum will swing back!
Scott (NY)
No one knows how the actual games going to play out but what team did you like on Media Day?
Buzzmaster (3:10 PM)
Media Day is always fun and light hearted. Both teams were really relaxed and cool today.
Jeff (Iowa)
Well, Buzz, I'm off to attend an 8th grade girls basketball game. Have fun today, enjoy your steak tonight, and will chat with you in the morning.
Buzzmaster (3:11 PM)
Good call. I should probably start heading back to the bus myself. I think I'll be signing off now, SportsNation.
Buzzmaster (3:12 PM)
Thanks for stopping by for the Media Day chat! Look for more Super Bowl coverage on ESPN.com as we get closer and closer to the big game!
