Chat with former Ga. Tech RB Tashard Choice

Choice averaged over 1,400 yards rushing in his final two seasons at Georgia Tech. He began his career at Oklahoma, playing one season as the backup to Adrian Peterson.
According to Choice's Scouts Inc.'s draft profile, Choice "projects as a solid backup in the NFL and should come off the board in the mid-round range of the 2008 draft."

We've got Tashard!
Mark H. (Bowling Green, OH)
What current NFL running back to you compare your game to?
Tashard Choice (1:57 PM)
I really think Brian Westbrook from the Eagles. He's really shifty. He cuts back. That's how I see myself running.
Techfan: Atlanta, GA
Hey deuce have you talked to Calvin at all about the draft and the combine?
Tashard Choice (1:57 PM)
I'm actually living with Calvin. I talk to him a lot. He keeps me posted on a lot of things. Every time you get a chance to put yourself out there, you have to give it your all.
Matt (Georgia Tech)
What was your favorite game that you played in at Tech? Lots of good ones...
Tashard Choice (1:58 PM)
My favorite game would probably be the first one I started when we played at Miami. They were No. 3, I think. It was the atmosphere and how we played.
Cody (Glenn Residence Hall, Georgia Tech, Atlanta, Georgia)
Your pre-game speech against Clemson this year is a YouTube classic. Did you go in having already planned out what you were going to say or did you improv that speech based on your emotions? How can you bring that leadership to an NFL team?
Tashard Choice (1:59 PM)
It was all on my emotions. I actually had a hamstring injury and we lost the game before. I was ready to get back on the field. Hamstring injuries, you can't really put a timetable on. I just wanted to let them know I was still there. It was all on emotions.
Sean, Edmonton, Canada
Hey Tashard. Some people say that you are a pure North-South runner. Do you think that people underestimate your elusiveness? PS- Alot of Browns fans are hoping that you come to the Dawg Pound!
Tashard Choice (2:00 PM)
Absolutely. I'm not necessarily a pure North-South runner. I make cuts and make people miss. It just depends on the scenario. I have to have a good all around game so I can do both of them.
Brian (Seattle)
what type of offense would you like to end up in?
Tashard Choice (2:01 PM)
A pro style offense. An offense that runs the ball, but passes as well. An offense that allows for the RB to make some plays.
Austin Haygood (Atlanta, GA)
What was the hardest thing about leaving Georgia Tech, and what are you most excited about leading into the draft?
Tashard Choice (2:02 PM)
The hardest thing about leaving Tech is my teammates. That's very hard. What I'm looking forward to is starting over. A new career in the NFL. Keeping my name from high school to college to the NFL. Going out there and doing well.
Jordan (Slinger, WI)
Tashard: What are you going to miss most about the college experience?
Tashard Choice (2:02 PM)
I think Saturdays. Waking up in the morning, everyone tailgating, the stadium being packed. Seeing everyone from school, from your classes coming out to support you. That's what I'm going to miss the most.
Jason(Ohio)
Hey Tashard, the Bengals are in need of a running back, because of injuries. Would you be willing to go there if they drafted you?
Tashard Choice (2:03 PM)
Anywhere. Absolutely. Any person GM or coach that wants me, I'm there. I'm going to go there and produce. I'm going to be a good teammate. They'll be surprised by what I can do and help.
Winfield (Atlanta, GA)
Hey Tashard, gonna miss you out on the flats this upcoming fall. What has been the biggest surprise so far in your entire pre-NFL draft experience?
Tashard Choice (2:04 PM)
My biggest surprise would probably be how time consuming things are. Before you run, at the combine, there was things you still had to do. That's probably my big surprise, you have to perform when your time comes and be ready to turn that switch on and off.
Tom (Boston, MA)
Do you think you'll be a starting running back in the NFL this year?
Tashard Choice (2:05 PM)
I don't know. Once I get on a team and show them what I can do. If I get a chance to start, that's what I want to get a chance and to prove myself. You never know what kind of situation you get put into. If I get a chance, I'll be more than ready for it.
Ryan (Atlanta, GA)
What do you say to the critics who think you are injury prone?
Tashard Choice (2:06 PM)
No, no. Not at all. I just show them what kind of injuries I have. A hamstring injury. A lot of people get those. I only missed a couple of games this year. I just have to show them what kind of athlete I am.
DevinGT (Atlanta, GA)
First off, let me say, DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCE!! Is there any one NFL RB you'd like to be teammates with to learn the "tricks of the trade" in the NFL?
Tashard Choice (2:07 PM)
I will start from the top of the ladder - LT. If I could see how he works, how he practices, how he carries himself. Anyone that's been in the NFL for a long time who is willing to teach, I'm willing to learn. But if I had to pick, it would be LT.
kell (seattle)
Have the Cowboys interviewed you?
Tashard Choice (2:07 PM)
I talked to the Cowboys, I think it was the first team I talked to at the Senior Bowl. I've had a lot of interviews with a lot of different teams. I must have talked to 23-24 teams.
Ben, Georgia
You really had to carry the ball a lot the past two years, and had some injuries that would kept lesser players off the field for the year. How are you holding up especially with having little to no time to recupe from the season while you get ready for the draft and the next season.
Tashard Choice (2:09 PM)
It went by really well. The more you can strengthen your body, you can recover. You eat the right food to recover. Now, football is more of a 12-month game than just during the season. So, it's been the same, just working out and getting ready.
Trevor (Sioux City)
A lot of the analysts say this is a very deep draft at running back. With that said, do you believe you are comparable with the likes of McFadden and Stewart, and do you think that there isn't much talk about you going in the first round because you played on a average team?
Tashard Choice (2:10 PM)
I think I compare well with all the RBs. What I do on the field in different situations. Georgia Tech, we didn't do well this season and I think that has part to do with it, but you just have to go out there. I think I can do some things and can compare well.
Frank - (Augusta)
No question - just wanted to say thanks for your time at Ga. Tech and good luck in the NFL
Dan Texas
What do you think was your best single game performance at GT?
Tashard Choice (2:11 PM)
I think the single game would be this year when we played against Notre Dame or Miami. Those are my two best games.
Jordan (Slinger, WI)
Tashard: Why did you originally decide to attend GA Tech?
Tashard Choice (2:12 PM)
Originally, I didn't. I went to Oklahoma at first. Once I had a waiver because my mom had an injury. Then I came to Georgia Tech after the waiver. It was convenient being close to her so I could help her out.
Tashard Choice (2:12 PM)
Thank you. I appreciate all the prayers from everyone. I appreciate everything.
