Chat with former Virginia Tech OT Duane Brown

Brown is the ninth-ranked OT in the 2008 NFL draft. He entered Virginia Tech as a tight end. After red-shirting, he was a back up TE before making the switch to right tackle. Then, after starting all of his team's 26 games over the next two seasons, he switched to left tackle before the start of the 2007 season.
According to Brown's Scouts Inc.'s draft profile, Brown "is a former tight end who is still somewhat raw and inconsistent but there's no questioning his upside, as he has prototypical size, initial quickness and athletic ability. With that mind he projects as a third round pick."
Send in your questions now, then join Brown on Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET!

Duane should be here shortly, everyone!
Duane Brown (3:05 PM)
Hey everyone, thanks for the current and future support!
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Duane, Who was your fav. nfl player and team growing up?
Duane Brown (3:06 PM)
Growing up, my favorite player was Lawrence Taylor. I really didn't have a team, but I followed the Giants a bit more because of him.

what is the most difficalt thing the combine
Duane Brown (3:07 PM)
The first couple days were the most difficult. It was a very tedious process. Sitting and waiting for physicals, going through medical examinations, those things were frustrating, but the actual physical part was much better.
Colin (New orleans)
Would you consider moving inside to either guard or center to use your TE athleticism on pulls and screen passes?
Duane Brown (3:08 PM)
Definitely, man. There arw a few teams who have discussed that with me. I'll do whatever I need to do in order to play for a team. I'm willing to learn if I need to move.
Randy (New Orleans)
So far in your career, who has been the toughest defensive lineman that you had to defend against?
Duane Brown (3:09 PM)
I'd have to say Chris Long. Going against someone of his caliber was tough, because at the time I hadn't completely improved on my techniques. He has a rare combvination of speed and size, and a great motor.
Scoot (Syracuse)
Duane, why should you get drafted?
Duane Brown (3:10 PM)
First of all, I think my work ethic and desire are my best attributes. I work hard all day, every day. I have great athleticism for my position. I think I can bring that to the team, being able to stretch guys. I'm also a good teammate, I try to motivate guys and not cause trouble in the locker room.
Mark H. (Bowling Green, OH)
What NFL defensive ends are you most looking forward to playing against?
Duane Brown (3:11 PM)
There's a lot of them. Guys like Strahan and Umenyiora from New York exemplify DE. Julius Peppers and Dwight Freeney, you see those guys excel on TV, and playing against them would be an honor.
Matt (Newark, DE)
Hey Duane I'm a big fan of yours and I have two questions. 1) What round have you been hearing you will go in? and 2) Do you think you would fit the LT zone blocking scheme well? Thanks and good luck on draft day.
Duane Brown (3:12 PM)
First, I've been hearing second round lately, or early third. I think I fit a zone scheme perfectly well. I feel like my athleticism and ability to stretch defenses, cutting off defensive tackles, would help teams.
Colin (New orleans)
Being from Virginia, would you prefer to go to a team like the redskins (close to home) or does it not matter where you go?
Duane Brown (3:13 PM)
It'd be nice to play somewhere close to home, but I don't have a preference. Whatever team I end up going to.
Duane Brown (3:13 PM)
Regardless, wherever I go, my family will find a way to get there.
Chris (San Diego)
The Chargers need a tackle how would you like playing in SD and blocking for LT?
Duane Brown (3:14 PM)
I'd love it, man. San Diego is, I heard, a beautiful city to live in. Blocking for Tomlinson would be an honor. I think I'll be going to visit out there as they've shown some interest in me.
Howie (Los Angeles)
What was your favorite moment from college?
Duane Brown (3:16 PM)
I'd have to say my first start at right tackle, going against Mario Williams. I'd only been in the position for a couple weeks and was anxious to see where I stood. I held my own and got the ball rolling out there.
Duane Brown (3:16 PM)
Thanks everyone!
