Chat with former Ga. Tech DE Darrell Robertson

Robertson finished second on Georgia Tech's defense last season with 6.5 sacks. He ended up first on the team in tackles for loss with 16. Robertson finished his career 21st in Georgia Tech's record books with 25 tackles for a loss.
According to Robertson's Scouts Inc.'s draft profile, Robertson "displays good quickness and the athletic ability to contribute as a situational pass rusher. However, he is not stout enough versus the run and his upside is limited by his lack of elite top-end speed. In our opinion, Robertson is worth drafting on Day 2 but only for teams in search of a 3-4 outside linebacker."

Darrell will be here soon!
Darrell Robertson (2:10 PM)
Hey what's up fans it's Darrell here from GA Tech to take your questions! Let's get started!
Kevin (Carolina)
Can you play with your hand in the dirt, or do you see yourself more as a OLB in a 3-4?
Darrell Robertson (2:11 PM)
I see myself playing whereever I am nbeeded. It is all about adapting. In college I used to drop a good amount of times. So whether my hand is down or not, I am open to either one.
Trent
What is one thing you must improve to be successful in the NFL?
Darrell Robertson (2:12 PM)
I would say I have to be strong at the point of contact. The NFL is about reading a blocker and getting off that block, while in college the focus is more on penetration.
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Who was your fav. nfl player and team growing up?
Darrell Robertson (2:13 PM)
Growing up I always watched Jevon Kearse when he was with the Titans, and he was a freak out there. But as for a team I like the Atlanta Falcons; I have to stay with the local team through the ups and the downs.
Tim (GA)
What was your favorite moment at Tech?
Darrell Robertson (2:14 PM)
I have two: 1) My freshman year against Clemson at Death Valley, where we came back and Calvin Johnson made that amazing catch. And 2) Playing in the ACC Championship game; that felt great.
Rich (WA)
Who is the best OT you ever faced?
Darrell Robertson (2:17 PM)
I would have to say Gosder Cherilus. He was a very good offensive tackle, who was quick and big. During our game against BC we went at it all game; it was a lot of fun going up against him.
Pete
Who do you model your game after?
Darrell Robertson (2:19 PM)
I say it is a combination of a couple players. These players being Jason Taylor, Jevon Kearse, and a little bit of Dwight Freeney. I mention those players because they are fast and quick and have to use something other than their size to beat tackles.
Pat (PA)
Is there anywhere you would really want to play?
Darrell Robertson (2:20 PM)
Right now it does not even matter. I feel like I am very blessed to be in a position where I can get drafted. it has been a lifelong dream of mine, and I consider myslef very fortunate because a lot of people don't get here. So I am happy to go anywhere.
Joe Meridian, MS
Darrell, do you think playing in the ACC has helped you prepare a little foe the NFL?
Darrell Robertson (2:21 PM)
It definitely is. In the ACC you are going against top competition at every position. That experience week in and week out really helped, since every week I had to perform. Those experience should really help me adjust to the NFL.
Joe Meridian, MS
Derrell, what are your plans for Draft Day?
Darrell Robertson (2:22 PM)
On draft day I will just be at home with my family, nothing to elaborate. I am not even sure I will be watching. I may be playing video games or relaxing waiting for that call.
Cameron . Alliance ohio
darrell i think that you should do tremendous in the nfl ,is there something that you have worked especially hard on during the offseason?
Darrell Robertson (2:24 PM)
I have worked on preparing my body for the rigors on an NFL season. I mean you go from playing 11-12 games in college to playing 16 or more games in the NFL. So I worked on my body, and I also worked on my foot work and my hands.
Joe Meridian, MS
Playing video games? Do you have a favorite game?
Darrell Robertson (2:25 PM)
Actually I do, I am really big into Call fo Duty 4 right now...I'm addicted. And I may slide in some Guitar Hero or Madden 08 depending on how I feel.
Darrell Robertson (2:27 PM)
I definitely appreciate all the questions! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and look for me on draft day!
