Chat with former Arizona St. CB Justin Tryon
![]() |
Tryon finished fifth on the Sun Devils in tackles in 2008 with 56. He had three INTs, including one which he ran back for a TD. He also led the team with 16 pass break ups. After transferring from College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, Calif. to Arizona St. for his junior year, Tryon started all 26 games for the Sun Devils the next two seasons.
According to Tryon's Scouts Inc.'s draft profile, In Tryon's two years at ASU, he "had 12 kickoff returns for 372 yards (31.0 average). Tryon is undersized so he is going to have problems matching up with receivers and making plays in run support but he has the quickness, speed, toughness and agility to emerge as an excellent Nickel back who can also return kickoffs. With that in mind, he projects as a fifth round pick."
Send in your questions now, then join Tryon on Friday at 1:30 p.m. ET!

We're getting Justin right now!
john, los angeles, ca
I have read experts compare you to Dre Bly. Is that a good comparison?
Justin Tryon (1:32 PM)
That's a real good comparison for me. He is a really good CBs. He's one of my favorite corners. To be compared to a guy like Dre Bly, that's a big stepping stone for me.
Ben, Denver
Toughest Pac-10 stadium to play at?
Justin Tryon (1:33 PM)
The toughest, I would have to say is Oregon. They get really loud, they're right on top of you. They're saying stuff, they're all over the place.
Rick (Tempe, Ariz.)
Thank you for a great career with the Sun Devils. Can you talk about your development under Coach Erickson, and the future of ASU's program?
Justin Tryon (1:34 PM)
He just brought back having fun, for the most part. He brought back the fact that this is still a game. He was so chill and brought back the excitement and the fun to the game.
Matt (Boston)
Were you being recruited by any other schools besides Arizona st.???
Justin Tryon (1:35 PM)
Yes, I was. I was recruited by Oregon St., Washington St., Boise St., Minnesota, Utah, Hawaii, TCU. Those are a few of them.
andy, amherst, Mass.
Who in the NFL would you most like to cover one-on-one and how do you think you'll do?
Justin Tryon (1:37 PM)
I want to guard Chad Johnson. I like him because he talks a lot, so he's going to get you into the game. He's a phenomenal athlete, so I'd love the challenge. How'd I do against him? I think I'd do great. But we'd have to see when the time comes. I think I'd hold my own against him.
Phillip (Tucson)
Would you be willing to return kicks in the NFL?
Justin Tryon (1:37 PM)
Oh yes. Most definitely. I would love to return kicks in the NFL. I just want to get the opportunity to return kicks.
Vicki (New Jersey)
What would be your dream scenario coming out of the draft?
Justin Tryon (1:38 PM)
It would be to go on the first day in the draft to a nice, winning program. That would be my dream.
Adam (Los Angeles, CA)
I saw you shut down DeSean Jackson and prove you are an elite CB. Do you feel you get the respect you deserve?
Justin Tryon (1:39 PM)
I don't know if I'm getting the respect, because I feel that I'm the most underrated CB out there right now in the draft. I know I've only been here two years and stuff like that, but if you look at my film, it speaks for itself. I'm the most underrated CB, I believe that.
SprungOnSports (Long Island)
Justin, the nickel position is becoming more important with the popoularity of the Tampa 2. What do you think you can do that will separate you from the rest of the draft's aspiring DB's?
Justin Tryon (1:40 PM)
I guess what I can do is I can play nickel and I can play corner as well. And, if you really want me to, I can play safety like a Bob Sanders kind of guy. That's what I bring to the table. I do all of the special teams. It's fun for me to be out on the field.
chad k (ashland,pa)
hey justin, are you ready to have your name in the next madden??
Justin Tryon (1:40 PM)
Oh yeah. I've been waiting for that for a few years now to finally see myself in Madden. I'm really looking forward to that. It's going to be fun.
Lane (Kukuihaele, HI)
Are you more comfortable playing in a zone scheme or man?
Justin Tryon (1:41 PM)
If I had to pick a coverage for every down, it would be man to man. I like to be on an island. I like to be on an island with no food or water for weeks.
Scoot (Syracuse)
Justin, what corners do you compare yourself to?
Justin Tryon (1:42 PM)
I really couldn't say that I compare myself to anyone, because I have my own style. But if I had to pick someone that I get my image from, it would be the best, Deion Sanders.
Dan (Detroit)
What's the most important thing you learned at ASU?
Justin Tryon (1:43 PM)
I guess the most important thing would be patience with the game. Study the game. Day in, day out you have to drive yourself to be better in practice.
chad k (ashland,PA)
justin, who were some of your favorite players to watch growing up and why?
Justin Tryon (1:44 PM)
I have to say Deion Sanders, of course. Barry Sanders, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irving and Bo Jackson. Those are some of the guys I liked to watch back in the day.
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Do you have any pre game ritules?
Justin Tryon (1:44 PM)
No, I don't have any pregame rituals. I just get it cracking. I listen to my iPod and that's all I need.
John (Ohio)
What do you think of an 8 or 16 team playoff for college football so soft scheduling teams don't get put into a title game by BCS?
Justin Tryon (1:45 PM)
I think that's kind of great if they did that. Everyone could really see who would be the real champion from east to west, south to north. That would be really cool. And everyone gets to play everyone.
Kevin (LA)
justin, who was the best receiver you went 1-on-1 with?
Justin Tryon (1:46 PM)
I have two. I have to say DeSean Jackson and Sammie Stroughter from Oregon State.
Justin Tryon (1:46 PM)
Check me out on Sundays. Thanks for chatting!
