Chat with former NW Missouri St. RB Xavier Omon
![]() |
Omon is the only player in NCAA history to rush for over 1,500 yards in all four years of his career. This past season, for the Division II NW Missouri State Bearcats, Omon rushed for over 2,300 yards and 37 TDs. For his career, he averaged over five yards per carry.
According to Omon's Scouts Inc.'s draft profile, Omon "utilizes a stiff-arm very effectively. Protects the ball well and thrives in his role as bell cow back within an offense. He has shown reliable hands as a receiver out of the backfield and has adequate experience in that regard. Is a strong blocker with the size and toughness to pick up the blitz in pass protection....[He] is a Division II standout who has prototypical size, power and vision as a runner. On the other hand, while his speed is adequate, he doesn't have the second gear or elusiveness to become anything more than a No. 2 or No. 3 back in the NFL."
Send in your questions now, then join Omon on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET!

Xavier is here!
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Xavier, What NFL RB do you compare yourself to?
Xavier Omon (4:00 PM)
I'd probably say Priest Holmes. He wasn't the fastest guy in the NFL, but he was the most consistent. He could block, catch, run. He was a great overall RB. One of my friends pointed that out to me, compared me to him. But I feel like I can do everything. Not the greatest at one thing, but do a little bit of everything.
Patrick (Hampton Roads, Va.)
Who's your team Xavier!!?
Xavier Omon (4:01 PM)
Growing up it was the Philadelphia Eagles. But right now, anyone willing to pick me will be my favorite! But growing up, everyone wanted to be a QB, and Randall Cunningham caught my eye.

Had you gone to a bigger school, Division I, do you think you would be in better or worse position in the upcoming draft?
Xavier Omon (4:02 PM)
Well, if I had the production that I had, I definitely think I would be in a better situation. But so much stuff can happen with injuries, but thank God I wasn't injured in my career at Northwest. If I was as productive as I was here, I think I would be in a better position.
Jake (Syracuse)
Xavier, coming from D-2, do you feel your at a disadvantage without all the exposure like the D-1 backs get on a weekly basis?
Xavier Omon (4:03 PM)
It is, but you make the best of it. I use it as a tool to movtivate myself. They're on TV way more than I am and get more publicity than I do. But once you get to the NFL, if you're good, there's not more publicity stunts. If you got it, you got it. You're in the NFL.
Paul (Lorain, OH)
Playstation 3 or Xbox 360?
Xavier Omon (4:04 PM)
My coach is an XBox 360 fan and he tried to get me on it. But I'm a Playstation fan. To me, it's easier to play than the XBox.
jesus (Minnesota)
were do u think ur going to go in the draft?
Xavier Omon (4:05 PM)
No team specifically has said. The best I've gotten was the fourth round - the Patriots and Steelers maybe. But I don't think anybody knows where they're going, unless you're Jake Long. There's too much going on and it's too hard to tell. I'm just waiting and seeing.
Todd (Lincoln, NE)
How have the last couple of months been getting ready for the draft...all-star games, combine, pro day, etc..???
Xavier Omon (4:06 PM)
It's been a fun experience. The combine is a meat market, it really is. I didn't believe it until I got there. But it's definitely a fun experience. It was a big difference from training in Nebraska to going out to New Jersey. I like new experiences and I'm looking forward to the next one.
jusin (cincinnati)
what team do u play on madden
Xavier Omon (4:07 PM)
Woah. Depends on who I'm playing. Most of the time I play with the Eagles, because I was an Eagles fan. This year, I don't know who I use. But any team with a fast QB, I usually use them.
Myron (Cleveland)
Wouldn't mind having you here in Cleveland!! Seen you play good career good luck this weekend!
Joe (Chico, CA)
where will you be on Sat?
Xavier Omon (4:08 PM)
I don't know. Probably just be at home, hanging around. But I don't expect to be drafted on Saturday. But on Sunday, I will be mini-golfing. I'll have a little draft get together afterward.
Mark H. (Bowling Green, OH)
When did you realize you had a chance to play in the NFL?
Xavier Omon (4:10 PM)
Believe it or not, when I scored my first TD in pee wee football. It sounds weird but I always thought I would do it. But it really hit me that I could probably do this when I got up here to college in Northwest and my sophomore year, my coach talked to me and said if I stayed on track and stayed out of trouble I could have a chance.
Myron (Cleveland)
What's the best part of your game in your mind?
Xavier Omon (4:11 PM)
Probably my vision. I think a great RB definitely needs great vision. I'm not the fastest guy in the world, but to see the lanes before someone else. So I would say vision and the ability to set up blocks. I think I do a good job of that.
J.P. (Arizona)
We could use some help in the backfield with the Cardinals...have they shown any interest?
Xavier Omon (4:12 PM)
They called me yesterday to talk to me a little bit and see where I was at. I talked to them at the combine. They were really interested. One of my old teammates is with them. I was out there training with him. I like the weather so I wouldn't mind if they call my name.
Kevin (New York, NY)
With so many RBs stepping in their rookie year...do you think that can be you in '08?
Xavier Omon (4:12 PM)
Definitely. I want to go to a team that will give me an opportunity to play. I know that with the right coach and with time, I will be able to contribute.
John (Denver, CO)
What are your personal goals next year in the NFL and career goals?
Xavier Omon (4:13 PM)
For my rookie year, to get on the field, I know that sounds like a longshot, but to get into the starting lineup. That's a goal of mine. For my career, definitely win a couple of championships, because that's what it's all about. And to have a Hall of Fame career.
Xavier Omon (4:14 PM)
I appreciate all my fans. I appreciate all the support. Stay behind me because I won't let you down.
