Buzzmaster (4:26 PM)
Sorry folks, we are having some technical problems.
Mark Garrow (4:46 PM)
Good afternoon everyone..sorry for the delay..in the saddle for as long as it takes..my apologies..
Marc (Gulfport, MS)
Mark- Looking at this preliminary lineup... 11,8,18,83. Are the 12,1,16 better options than the 8? How about the 15 over the 83? Thanks.
Mark Garrow (4:47 PM)
I like the 8 a little better than the 12..83 over 15..Vickers has been able to sneak into the top-15 on occasion this year..15 is quite there yet...
A lot of the drivers in the chase right now don't have wins. Should I be looking to trade them to get some guys that can actually take the checkered flag?
Mark Garrow (4:48 PM)
Don't think so..because most of the guys are capable of winning on any given week..and they're in the Chase for a reason score more points on a consistent basis.
Jr. was off to such a good start early, but nothing's happened since. Should i try to trade him?
Mark Garrow (4:50 PM)
He hasn't hurt you bad..He's still third in the points..I think Richmond will be a key race..He should run up front, lead laps and contend for the win..If he doesn't..if he has just an average day..then maybe think about it..but other than California he's been money top-10 just about every time out.
Gordon or Johnson?
Mark Garrow (4:51 PM)
Right now Jimbo..I'd lean towards Johnson..non-downforce track this week in RIchmond..so Gordon should be competitive, but Johnson has been consistently faster even going back to last season.
Craig in Il.
Which pair do you like to score best at Richmond, 20+99 or 07+31??
Mark Garrow (4:52 PM)
At first blush, I'd probably go with the 20 and 99..both could run top-five..I see 07 and 31 top-10..with Bowyer maybe top-five. Burton will be his usual solid self.
Newman or Biffle at Richmond this weekend?
Mark Garrow (4:54 PM)
I'd lean towards Newman..He completely outperformed Biffle last year at Richmond and Biffle isn't running as strong as he did earlier in the season..Biffle 19th and 39th last year at Richmond..Newman 6th and 11th..
Here's my lineup for Richmond: 07,18,88,11,12.....whaddaya think?
Mark Garrow (4:55 PM)
Lee..I like that line-up a lot..all five are top-10 capable and each has a shot to run top-five AND it wouldn't surprise me to see the race winner come out of that group.
I have Johnson locked in a bit lower than his overall value in SCC...is he worth keeping or should I pick up Edwards instead? I know Edwards will be strong but i'm wondering how much of a difference there will be.
Mark Garrow (4:58 PM)
I think Jimmie Johnson is beginning to find his groove..If you like his value I'd say stick with him...he should run no worse than top-five at Richmond..and the better price should give you a little more flexibility...
Does the righty-tighty-lefty-loosey rule apply to wedge adjustments? In other words, do you turn the wrench clockwise for a tighter car, and counter-clockwise for a looser car?
Mark Garrow (4:59 PM)
Ben, we get a lot of questions from you and I wondering if you're on the level or like me just try to stir things up?
Do you like Ragan as a value pick this weekend?
Mark Garrow (5:00 PM)
I think David Ragan is creeping up the "charts"..I've said it before and I'll say it again..this kid as got "it"..Third place in the second race at Richmond last year was not a fluke..He could be a top-10 contender again this Saturday night..no worse than a top-15, which at his price is still a nice pay-off.
You said you liked the 48 at these types of tracks, but I thought I heard Hendrick has not fared all that well at this track. Which team has the upper hand at Richmond?
Mark Garrow (5:02 PM)
Johnson swept both races last year..Gordon was fourth in both..Kyle Busch finished second in the first race..Hendrick doesn't struggle all that bad does he?
Hamlin the early fave this week going to the home state?
Mark Garrow (5:04 PM)
Lynn, I'm ranking Denny Hamlin number one this week just ahead of teammate Kyle Busch..Hamlin should lead laps and make a run at the win..His car is fast, he has momentum, and he wants to win in Richmond in the worst way.
Which low-value guys in SCC should be decent this week? Also, is Martin a good pickup or am I better off with Ragan...he's been strong lately
Mark Garrow (5:05 PM)
Cam Martin or Ragan is a toughie..to make that pick I would wait to take a look at qualifying and what they ran in first practice..if Ragan is up near the front then they've been able to closely duplicate what they did in second race last year and makes him a more serious pick in my eyes..I don't think you really go wrong with either one..but that's close to a toss-up before the hit the track.
Bob Bangkok Thailand
Why are you so old?
Mark Garrow (5:06 PM)
Wow..didn't know I was. Thanks for pointing it out.
Follow up on Ragan: start him over the 8, or take advantage of Martin while he's running?
Mark Garrow (5:07 PM)
Again, I see them as a toss-up right now ..going in..Martin feels like a safer pick but Ragan is beginning to findf a little more consistency, which is why he's climbed to 15th in the points.
When's Danica making her jump to Nascar? Her and Tony could be '09 teammates, steal a whole lot of thunder.
Mark Garrow (5:08 PM)
First I don't see Danica going NASCAR racing that soon..but her and Tony would be an interesting pairing..Beauty and the Beast..lol
Justin (Sacramento, CA)
what do you think of 29,5,9,42?
Mark Garrow (5:11 PM)
I think 29 is going to be very good at Richmond...he won this race two years ago..and last year had a pair of 7th place finishes..I like him a lot this weekend..I look at five as potential top-15 material this weekend..I can see Kahne finishing from 8th to 13th..and JPM maybe top-20..certainly will not remotely come close to duplicating what happened at Talladega..It will be interesting to see how Montoya runs on this type of track with new crew chief Jimmy Elledge.
Matt Kenseth? Where do you have him value wise right now? Would you trade Biffle for him?
Mark Garrow (5:12 PM)
Matt Kenseth could break out of his slump very easily at Richmond, but you just don't know..Biffle hasn't been sizzling lately and didn't perform all that well at Richmond in 2007..perhaps you should take a look at other drivers you might be able to trade Kenseth for..
Please rank these groups this week: 24,48,88,20 18,11,07,31 29,12,17,8 Pretty cool Bob's last name is his country's capital.
Mark Garrow (5:15 PM)
11,18,48,20,88,29,24,07,31,12,8,17..that's the best I can do before they hit the track..I see a Joe Gibbs - Rick Hendrick confrontation.
We still not working?
Mark Garrow (5:16 PM)
Who? Me?..I thought I was working hard..even have a bead of sweat..lol..
Max Scherzer(Phoenix, AR)
I know it's the wrong forum, but with the way I can DRIVE 97 MPH fastballs by Major League hitters, you think I have a chance in NASCAR, I'll push that gas the way I push off the mound...
Mark Garrow (5:17 PM)
Let's just call you "Mad Max"..lol..you really take this fantasy league stuff to then next level don't you?..lol
How is Jr looking this week? Also, who should be the best of the riggs, reutimann, yeley types this weekend?
Mark Garrow (5:20 PM)
I think Junior's going to be in pretty good shape..and I can't believe I'm saying this but Yeley may need a second look this week..He finished 14th and 10th last year at Richmond..I know he was driving for Joe Gibbs but he obviously married up to the track pretty well..Keep an eye on his practice and qualifying..If he's 20th or better in one or both then you need to give him some serious thought.
Justin (Sacramento, CA)
which drivers should be avoided this week?
Mark Garrow (5:21 PM)
Kurt Busch and Matt Kenseth come to mind quickly..both could run top-five at Richmond or continue their downhill slide..since that's a question I'd stay away from them until they prove their worthiness..Also don't get lulled into thinking Montoya is now magically even top-15 material..
Mark Garrow (5:23 PM)
Thanks for all the questions..don't forget our at the track chat from Richmond coming up on Saturday afternoon..Look forward to you joining in then as well..Until then have a great day and a great week!
