Jack - Austin, TX
Where is the world does Michael Bush fit in with the Raiders? Is he likely to be traded, or rust away as the third team running back? Thanks
Scott Engel (2:57 PM)
He may fit in as a goal-line and short-yardage runner, but with the drafting of McFadden, that appears to be the best-case scenario for now
Lance, Houston
i was just offered Ryan Howard straight up for Mike Jacobs. did i do the right thing by saying yes as fast as i could?
Scott Engel (2:59 PM)
Don't look back - you jumped on an impatient owner and will certainly get the better end of the deal.
Mitch (Gainesville, FL)
What do you expect from receivers like Ronald Curry, Kevin Curtis, D.J. Hackett, Hines Ward, etc. I'm thinking of borderline #2/#3 WRs.
Scott Engel (3:00 PM)
I expect inconsistency in TDs from Curry and boom or bust play from Curtis. Ward can be good, not great, and Hackett will be a solid fantasy contributor when healthy
Ryan (Ida, MI)
What do you think I can get for Berkman? Is he worth trading at this point?
Scott Engel (3:01 PM)
I would hold onto Berkman - I would not deal him unless you really have to fill a major need.
Nick (Sioux Falls)
Which side do you like, Bedard and A. Soriano or Morneau, kemp, and glaus?
Scott Engel (3:03 PM)
I would rather have Bedard and Soriano - I still like them a heck of a lot for the full season
Tarr (Orlando)
I have Brandon Jacobs and Laurance Maroney as my keeper RBs. Would you feel comfortable with those two or should I look to make a trade?
Scott Engel (3:04 PM)
I would keep Maroney, who is on the verge of his true breakthrough season, but would not be comfortable with Jacobs as his regular partner
Frustrated owner
Is it time to part ways with Byrnes? he's been awful.
Scott Engel (3:05 PM)
I don;t think you can get much for him in a trade, and I wouldn;t cut him just yet.
B (Philly, PA)
Pedro for Harden? Felix for Verlander? Either one of those crazy?
Scott Engel (3:06 PM)
If I had Harden or Hernandez I would not consider either offer.
Tank (TX)
Would you rather have Billy Butler or Aaron Rowand for the rest of the year?
Scott Engel (3:07 PM)
Probably Rowand - I am not liking what I see at all from Butler.
Joey (Cleveland, OH)
I have M. Colston in a Keeper football league. I was offered another teams first round pick for Colston. We keep 5 players so his first round pick is equivalent to a 5th in regular drafts. Should I take it?
Scott Engel (3:08 PM)
Heck yes - you can easily have a shot at another top WR, or maybe even an elite RB. You will have a shot at an ever better player at more positions.
John (Oakland Gardens-Bell Blvd)
Scott-my Bayside Brother from a different mother...riddle me this can Volquez + lee keep it up for the rest of the year? what kind of hitters should I target in return?...could both net me HanRam? thanks!
Scott Engel (3:11 PM)
I believe in both players. - yet if I had Ramirez, I would not give him up for those two. I would keep both unless you are really falling behind in certain categories. See you at First Edition!
Scott (AZ)
Who has a bigger 2nd half? Adam Laroche, Andrew Jones, or Delgado. All are free agents in my league and I need to cut Butler! Thxs
Scott Engel (3:12 PM)
I say delgado, even though the overall numbers will obviously be down.
Anthony (Madison, NJ)
Scott, why isn't Thomas Jones getting any props this fantasy offseason? With the additions of Faneca, Woody, T. Rich, and a health Chad, is 10+ TDs and 1,300+ yds too high of a projection? Thanks
Scott Engel (3:15 PM)
Because Jones, even with improved blocking, is not an explosive back. He'll be adequate. Your projections seem inflated because you may be a Jets fan, and Pennington is nothing to brag about. No offense, but don;t think with your heart and hopes here
Matt, Raleigh
Do think Vernon Davis will be worth a late pick in a deep keeper league? I already have Gates...
Scott Engel (3:16 PM)
If you already have Gates, forget about Davis, because he won;t last until late.
PJ (NY)
Would you deal A-Rod and Carmona for Johan and A. Ramirez right now?
Scott Engel (3:17 PM)
If I had Johan and Ramirez I wouldn;t make that deal at this time.
Joel ( Roscommon MI)
Do you expect monster numbers from Welker and is he good enough WR1 material ? I suspect he could slip a little allowing me to focus on another premium RB or top flight QB
Scott Engel (3:18 PM)
I think he is the ideal No. 2 guy unless you play in a PPR league.
Malik (Tucson, AZ)
I had two wonderful keepers in Steven Jackson and Shaun Alexander, now it's down to the former. Being the Raider fan that I am, do I go on and take McFadden with my second or third round pick in the hopes of stealing a keeper?
Scott Engel (3:20 PM)
McFadden may not last that long in a keeper league and you should simply take the best player available with your turn, especially since you already have aNo. 1 RB. Your allegiance should not matter at all.
Xavier (Seattle)
Scott! Great Stuff. Do you still have faith in Ryan Howard and his customary torrid 2nd half? Is Byrnes+Hafner too much to give for him, or is it a quality buy low/sell lower?
Scott Engel (3:21 PM)
If you can get Howard for thos etwo, I would doit, but I would also not be surprised to see that deal turned down.
Brandon (Boston)
Any interest in Speed Racer? I'm psyched but it seems like it could flop big, your thoughts? Related question, best racing movie ever?
Scott Engel (3:22 PM)
My son wants to see it, have to see Iron man first. Gotta love Talladega Nights.
Nick (boston)
the byrnes/hafner/howard question was asked and answered yesterday. Lets see some more stuff.
Scott Engel (3:23 PM)
I was not chatting yesterday. Let's see a real question from you instead of knocking other users who really contribute something.
Chris (NY)
Do you see Manningham becoming flex worthy in standard leagues this year?
Scott Engel (3:24 PM)
No - he will be worked in slowly and i would not even draft him in a yearly league.
James - Fresno
Alfonso Soriano, D-Lee, or Ryan Howard here on out...?
Scott Engel (3:25 PM)
Call me crazy, but I think Howard will turn it all around in a major way.
Garr (UT)
With Rollins back, who do I cut Julio Lugo or Felipe Lopez?
Scott Engel (3:26 PM)
I would have to say Lugo - I am a big backer of Lopez.
Mark: Dallas TX
Think Delgado and Pedroia is a good offer for Howard?
Scott Engel (3:26 PM)
If I had Howard, to be honest with you, I would turn that down
Tom (NY)
Scott, I have Steve Smith, Housh, FWP, Reggie, and Rudi Johnson as possible keepers for next year. Can keep between 2-3. Should I just keep Smith and TJ and grab the best two RBS available w/ my first 2 picks?
Scott Engel (3:28 PM)
I would do that - I really like Smith if Hackett stays healthy. None of your Rbs are worth keeping and you can likely do better in the draft
John (White Plains, NY)
You said you wouldn't draft Manningham but are Moss, Toomer or Smith roster worthy in 08?
Scott Engel (3:29 PM)
Don;t draft players because they are Giants. I like Smith and Tommer in the final rounds. Draftingw ith your heart is only detrimental. Seperate your allegiances and your fantasy team.
Shaun(NYC)
Do you really think Aaron Rodgers cuts that much into Ryan Grant's stats? I feel like teams still need to respect those WR's and Grant has shown his ability to catch balls as well.
Scott Engel (3:30 PM)
As long as he can keep defenses honest, Grant will be a very good No. 2 fantasy RB in 2008.
jim (las vegas)
Is LJ still keeper material? Have had him since Priest days. Other keepers are LT and S-Jax (desperate trader last year netted me Jax). If I keep LJ, he would be in the RB/WR slot all year with the others in RB.
Scott Engel (3:31 PM)
As a flex, he fits fine, but if you have another top WR or QB I would not keep him over a third running back.
John (Herndon, VA)
My league, 5 years strong roto keeper, is screaming at each other over this trade: Holliday for Votto and Wagner. There was a need for saves, but Holliday is clear keeper stud. What's your take?
Scott Engel (3:33 PM)
I think the fact that Votto is also in there makes it legitimate and not overturnable.
Matt, Raleigh
Does Rhodes coming back affect Addai any this year?
Scott Engel (3:34 PM)
Only ina good way - he gives him solid veteran relief and will ensure Rhodes remains productive and consistent.
Mark (NJ)
Scott, which rookie RBs do you see contributing this year (similar to what Marshawn Lynch did last year)? P.S. - Your chats are the best. Short, yet insightful responses. I love it.
Scott Engel (3:35 PM)
Thanks a lot Mark, Much appreciated. I like Stewart a lot in Carolina as a TD producer and Matt Forte to overtake Benson in Chicago.
Ron (SD)
How about this offer, if you don;t like it Scott you could hit it right back to me. Hamilton/Hafner for Howard. Which side would you rather have in 5x5 roto league?
Scott Engel (3:36 PM)
Even though i like Hamilton a lot, I would rather keep Howard
Chris (Saratoga, NY)
Best old school Nintendo sports game? I gotta go with Bases Loaded 2.
Scott Engel (3:37 PM)
I had the Sega Master system. Fave old school baseball game is Tony LaRussa Baseball for Genesis.
mike (jersey)
Is Nady a sell high candidate for my team in a deep league? My other OF are Rios, Hart, Ankiel, Griffey, Delmon Young, and Lewis. I really need 2B/SS help.
Scott Engel (3:38 PM)
I would surely move him if you can, I belive you have enough depth
He's Wrong! (anywhere)
Tecmo Bowl! Is he nuts?
Scott Engel (3:38 PM)
I'll take Joe Montana Sports Talk 94, although I really liked Tecmo Super Bowl II.
Derek(KS)
Hi, quick question. I have Cano, Kendrick, and Yunel Escobar at 2B. I've been offered Harden for Kendrick. I'm wanting to pull the trigger, but needed your okay. Also, do you play any NBA2K8 on 360?
Scott Engel (3:41 PM)
I would take that deal, as it certainly doe snot hurt your depth. I don't play any NBA games. Madden and Rock Band on 360, MLB 08 on PS3.
David(DC)
"I am not liking what I see at all from Butler." What are you not liking? He is not hitting for power yet, but he hit for power in the minors and he is very young.
Scott Engel (3:42 PM)
That was the minors. he is in the majors now. Obviously the potential is not there, but I think it may be some time before he breaks out.
Frank (NE)
Name game for a keeper league: Volquez or Lincecum?
Scott Engel (3:43 PM)
I like Volquez, but Lincecum will soon be one th every best pitchers in fantasy baseball.
James nyc
Would you trade C C Sabathia for Zambrano?
Scott Engel (3:44 PM)
You may not be able to get Zambrano, but I would certainly do it.
Clyde (Houston)
Scott -- Ludwick: legit or flash in the pan? Would you pick him up, or stick with the likes of a Cuddyer or Melky Cabrera type (limited roster moves)? Thanks!
Scott Engel (3:45 PM)
I think Ludwick is legit, and I would probably jettison Cuddyer in the very close call
Fred (DC)
Nintendo's Blades of Steel, bro. Blades of Steel rocked.
Scott Engel (3:47 PM)
NHL 98 for the PS one. Also, Intellivision NBA Basketball.
Cal (Boston)
Just got offered Conor Jax and Ankiel for Howard. Pull the trigger?
Scott Engel (3:48 PM)
No, keep Howard - you willr regret making that trade.
Raffy (Hempstead)
You keep saying that you "LIKE" Volquez, but would you deal him for a struggling non-rookie like Verlander, CC, or Harang? Thanks for the very informative chat!
Scott Engel (3:49 PM)
I would only move him to fill a hitting need, not for another pitcher when he is already filling a key role for me. I trade to fill needs.
Steve (Kansas)
What's going on with Chad Johnson? Still not reporting or playing?
Scott Engel (3:50 PM)
He could hold out for a long time, and Houshmandzadeh's value would take a hit without CJ.
Nick (Greenwich, CT)
What would it take you to get rid of Manning in a keeper league? a couple good players and draft picks? or you wouldn't trade him at all?
Scott Engel (3:51 PM)
Why mess with success? Keep him.
Tim (MD)
Who is uglier: Fred McGriff, Randy Johnson, Or Aaron Harang
Scott Engel (3:52 PM)
Sorry, I am not into judging the looks of other guys. I'd rather look at Mariah Carey, Shakira, Ana Ortiz, Becki Newton, and from past days, Judy Landers, Apollonia nd Victoria Principal.
Adam (Jersey)
Keeper: Calvin Johnson, Boldin or Hines?
Scott Engel (3:53 PM)
Boldin - already proven with a lot of remaining upside
Kenny (ME)
Hey Tim, Otis Nixon is the winner!
Chris (Brooklyn)
Aaron Harang has NOT been struggling. Only the Reds O when he pitches. Buy low if you can.
Andrew (Dayton)
Would you trade Peavy for Zambrano and Verlander?
Scott Engel (3:55 PM)
I would keep Peavy. I like Zambrano but would not want to take on Verlander.
Mat (DC)
Anne Landers? That'd be gutsy.
Scott Engel (3:56 PM)
Judy Landers, wife of Tom Niedenfuer.
Jay(Chicago)
over/under on how many people had to google every chick on your list but mariah carey and shakira to see who you were talking about?
Scott Engel (3:58 PM)
depend son their age - most people know Victoria Principal and have seen Purple Rain and older guys know the Landers Sisters. Ana Ortiz is on Ugly Betty
Millhouse
Wille McGee is obviously the ugliest player ever. But he is like one of those pug dogs; so ugly its adorable.
Rick (Houston)
Would you trade Oswalt, Cueto & Helton for Berkman?
Scott Engel (4:02 PM)
If I had berkman I would not take that - you are stacking quantity for quality. Thanks a lot everyone!
