Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:04 PM)
Hi kids. As always, all subjects answered. Let's get into it.
Jim (Greensboro, NC)
Hi Matthew. Great call on Lester! Who would you rather have for this year? Next year? Cueto ($9) or Carmona ($18). BTW, I saw an old episode of Two and a Half Men that had a young Megan Fox on it. SUPER HOT!!!
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:06 PM)
Yeah, thanks. I said on Satu and then again on yesterday's FFocus videocast that Lester was a good start. i take the criticism with the bad calls, I'm allowed a little crowing with the good ones. Carmona for this year, Cueto for next at those prices. Shocker on Fox. I'm not saying she isn't hot. She is, clearly. Just that she isn't as hot at Anne Hathaway. that's all.
Sally (WV)
Does Colon have a shot to put up decent numbers?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:08 PM)
A shot? Yes. But even though he was impressive w/ Triple A, it was a small sample size. I have such a tortured history with him I can't really answer objectively. I will say that he's got a good shot at wins, obviously and a good shot at killing your WHIP. Ultimate high risk, high reward. But he defnitely should be added in all leagues
Any Girl Who Would Ever Date You (nowhere, US)
You're only going to date crazy chicks if you keep publishing girls emails to you. You reap what you sew, baldy (ok, sorry for the cheap shot). Now, please tell me if I should be worried about Adrian Gonzalez and his putrid .318 OBP! Sell while his power numbers are up?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:10 PM)
I think about that but then I always decide that it's funnier to print than not. Besides I walways change it up and wait a long time. The email from yesterday was probably six months old.... Most women I meet aren't readers of fantasy, you know? And just for the cheap shot, i'm not answering your actual question.
Terri, Warwick RI
Is Carlos Quentin for real or a sell high candidate for the second half of the season?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:11 PM)
Neither.... I think he's good - not this good, but legiot... the problem is I don't think you'll get full value for him - he's a guy you just have to ride out.
Jeff Francis (Colorado)
If I had command of any of my pitches, I'd bean that girl who just insulted you... Anyways, people tend to rank me high (50th in the most recent 60ft, 6in, for example)... Can you explain why? Am I better than Wandy Rodriguez going forward?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:12 PM)
Thanks. And yeah, I don't get it. Especially when you look at your second half numbers from last year. Assuming Way Rod is healthy, I'd rather have half of him. (start at home)
Tony, NY
Please tell me whether to pitch cabrera tonight against yanks
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:13 PM)
I say no. He's pitched very this year both on the road (he at NYY) and in the month of May... but Mussina has a ridiculous May winning %... and he still makes me nervous. Start him in AL only, but not a mix league. But def keep him on radar...
Jake (Long Beach)
SO you've totally bailed on Hafner? Delgado or Kotchman solid replacements?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:14 PM)
yes and yes. Casey
Alan (Yonkers, NY)
For this season only, Longoria or Bruce?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:14 PM)
Longoria
John, Kissimmee
Thanks for the Megan Fox hint....got a virus and totally nuked my work computer. Never say yes on an install on a search.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:15 PM)
I could have told you that
Brad (Philly)
Was it the alternator?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:15 PM)
We don't know yet. But Nate didn't come in today at all!
Dan (San Jose)
I know how to jump start a car... if you know what I mean.
brad (ny)
do you see guardado becoming the closer soon with wilson's recent blow ups?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:16 PM)
Soon? No, but he's the handcuff I want to Wilson, not Benoit. I would def pick him up if I was scrolling for saves
Wes (LA)
Name game: M. Napoli or B. Molina
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:16 PM)
Napoli
Joel, Michigan
Who are you higher on for the remainder of the season, John Lester or John Danks?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:17 PM)
Danks.... Really really like him
scott (D.C.)
Why not start Dcab even if you say mussina is gonna get the win? Dcab can still have a very good start
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:18 PM)
this is true... D Cab just makes me nervous
nicky(brooklyn,ny)
Name Game:Ludwick or Kemp?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:18 PM)
Kemp. Oh, and McCann just went yard
Mat (DC)
This season only. Kershaw or Rich Hill?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:19 PM)
Rich Hill, actually. Even with the DL stint
andy (chicago)
Sleeper for holds for the rest of the season in an AL only league?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:21 PM)
Cruceta in Det.
Robin (Milwaukee, WI)
Name game. Francoeur, Ellsbury, or Dye.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:23 PM)
Depends what you need. Would prob swithc Dye and Ellsbury but I still believe in Franc
Gerard (SI)
Cmon man. D-Cab? The first letter first name first syllable last name thing doesn't work for everybody.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:23 PM)
I disagree, G Rar
MC Welk (SLC)
Napoli only plays about twice a week.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:23 PM)
look at his numbers. Leads all C w/ HR. Only one C has more SB. Who cares?
Babz (Aiken, SC)
Matt, you are positively the worst fantasy writer EVER. I cannot believe someone continues to employ you to do this joke of a job. You're the WORST! So do I drop Kelly Johnson for Tad Iguchi or Clint Barmes? Oh yeah, you suck.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:25 PM)
yes and yes
Nate (Bristol)
I only show up once a week but I am still effective.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:25 PM)
well played!
Joe (DC)
Hey Matthew, I wrote to you the other day telling you that I had just begun a fantasy blog and wanted some advice if you could on how to get recognized, etc. I gave you a link that has been changed now, so my new blog link is....I know you're busy, but any advice you could possibly give on how to get started, how to getmy name and writing out there, etc, would be greatly appreciated by me. Thanks so much! -Joe Weidenburner
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:30 PM)
Hi Joe: Yes, I got your note. I probably get a note like your a few times a week. I wish I had the time to respond to them all. But, my advice is to volunteer for a website that currently has a decent amount of traffic. Most sites need good writers. You won't get on at a major media co like ESPN or others initially, but you could easily get on a site that you have heard of. You'd be amazed at home many "big" sites employ guys at $25-50-100 an article. Offer to write for free. You won't make enough to make a differance anyways and all you're doing is trying to get experience. Make sure they will link to your blog as part of you writing for free so you can try and drive traffic. If you get a big enough name / traffic you'll have a lot of options. Just keep writing and work on developing your own voice. There's enough start / sit guys out there. To break thorugh these days you need something unique.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:31 PM)
but there is not conspiracy to keep good writers out. You can also check out www.fswa.org the fantasy writers organization. They help with stuff like this as well.
Derek (Boston)
Justin upton for adam dunn?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:32 PM)
Yeah, I think I'd rather have Dunn.
Bob (Mpls)
Here's a unique idea: Make a chat master take so long to answer your question that we all start to google "Joe Weidenburner" while we're waiting...
Adam (Providence)
I have a name for Joe Weidenburner's blog.. he can call it the 'Weid is Burning..'
Rauch (Closer)
drop cabrera who pitches tonight for Rauch since I've got only two closers?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:32 PM)
yes
Jorge, NYC
Yeah, something unique like writing about your failures as a lover. Dude, you really couldn't read between the lines there??
Rauch (Closer)
Will I be the closer all year and am I on a team to get 30 or more saves?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:33 PM)
yes and yes
J. Hermida (Fla)
Am I better than Francour?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:33 PM)
I like Franc better - I continue to believe
Ronan (Athlone, Ireland)
Anna H, Ivanka, Hot Sister Ravitz.....which one are you kicking out of the hot tub ?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:34 PM)
Um... none of the above. That's one good hot tub party!
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
Tell me the long-awaited, much-heralded return of the great Joe Borowski is nigh.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:34 PM)
It is and I bet he's the closer when he returns. He's already made one rehab appearance at Single A
Dan (Nutley, NJ)
30 saves for Percival this year?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:35 PM)
Sadly, yes
Cosmo (Bristol, CT)
Need offense, is Marcum for McClouth a good offer? Or is it too hard to work a "sell-high sell-high" deal?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:35 PM)
Yes, good offer. And I'd rather have Nate than Marcum
Jason (Scarsdale NY)
why sadly?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:36 PM)
Because I didn't really believe in him in the pre-season. But this is yet another reason why we say never pay for saves
Rob(NJ)
Matty, your latest TMR kind of freaked me out. At least you have Tout Wars...oh, 11th place. Sorry Dude.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:37 PM)
Really? Why? I actually liked it. And I've been further back much later in the season and finished high. Like I said - not worried. I like that team
Andrew (NYC)
Headley versus Bruce First to get called up this year, have the bigger impact this season, and long term?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:38 PM)
Bruce long term, Headley for the other two
Philip (Gothenburg, Sweden)
Hey Matt! Are there any stadium rankings listing the best hitting/pitching parks on ESPN?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:39 PM)
yeah, there are. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/parkfactor
Jim Leyland (Detroit)
There is nothing to worry about Matt, you can turn it around!
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:39 PM)
Well done
Sean (New Haven, CT)
You might "like" your Tout team but you should try and manage it. Get rid of Melhuse and put in a warm body pronto.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:40 PM)
I've looked at the waiver wire. Getting a "0" there is preferable to the other options of guys that will go 0-4 twice a week.
Joey(NY)
Matt, please, right now, look up Denise Milani. I say no more...
Harris(NYC)
How far is too far to come back in AL only 11teamer. i have 42.5 pts, leader has 83. I won last yr, but have been sadled with Verlander,Hughes,Liriano, Kenji,Sheff,Kubel? I still have a shot with Harden and Lackey comin back plus the others to turn around or play for future in keeper league?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:42 PM)
Depends on what categories you are far back in.. K, SV, SB and HR too an extent you can make up ground quickly in.... see where are with those
Hiding from my psych(o) major ex...
Herr Berry - currently divorcing my psychology Ph.D. wife, may I give you kudos on warning the unwary? Questions: First, I give BJ Upton, I get Ryan Howard. I'm smart, right? (My OF is pretty stacked and he needs help at both 2B and OF). Second, should I be proactive and drop CJ Wilson for Fast Eddie Guadardo before someone else does the speculating? Thanks!!
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:43 PM)
Welcome. I like Upton more than Ryan. Like buying Howard low but you're paying close to full value for Ryan. Also, no, don't drop the closer. Drop someone else.
Sage-Like Marc Horine (Bristol, Conn)
Hey Matt, don't forget to tell everyone how great the new ESPN Radio stream player is ....
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:43 PM)
Of course.
Josh (Las Vegas, NV)
Cmon Matt. Pretend I am saying something really funny and clever and answer my question. Pickup Bruce for reserve OF, over JOse Guillen or David Murphy?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:44 PM)
Ok. It should go Guillen, Murphy then Bruce. Stay put
Jason (Va)
Berry how come you are not a member of FSWA? Headley called up in _____, 2008. He hits____Hr's ____Rbi's____Batting AVe
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:45 PM)
I am on the executive board of directors. 17 / 68 / .280 for Headley
Steve (Ann Arbor)
Joey from NY is a life-saver. Thank you for the new wallpaper.
Frank (Medford, MA)
This chat is low on the Berry scale. Not very funny. Pick it up people. The Ravitz sisters are no longer funny. What's next, some cracks about Dundee 3?
Still Hiding... Follow Up...
Follow up... you have Howard substantially higher in your midseason rankings (9 vs 17, if I remember right). What do you like more about Upton now?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:48 PM)
8 spots isn't that big a differance. Like I said, I like Howard. I like buying low on him. But Upton is basically full value.
Zeus (Athens)
Time for the lightning round! Aaron Hill, Erick Aybar, or Iguchi?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:48 PM)
Iguchi for speed, Hill for power
Sal (Bronx, NY)
Name game - Aaron Cook or Rich Hill?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:49 PM)
Hill
Brett Myers
This is probably not the very best moment, but I feel like we should talk about the other night. Am I done?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:49 PM)
LOL. Yeah, you are. 8 hits and 3 walks (with only 2 hits) vs the Nats is not impressive
Brian (Quohog)
This chat's lamer than FDR's legs. What? Too soon?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:50 PM)
This actually made me laugh. I'm not proud. And neither should you be
Timmy (DC)
Suggestion - Make your underlings take typing classes. Some of them type about as fast as my grandfather who is hunting and pecking. That said, you seem to be a very fast typer so thanks! Also, I'm first in power categories but last in steals. Would you trade Manny for Figgins and Quentin?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:50 PM)
Thanks. It's because I don't care about spelling or grammar. Yes, I would
Adam (Baltimore)
are you psyched about Indiana Jones 4?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:51 PM)
Cautiously optimistic. Trailer doesn't look great, you know? But I'll still be there opening night. Love those movies.
Dan (San Jose)
I am around this weekend and totally reachable on my cell if you want to chat.
Dave (NYC)
Any reason why the answer guys aren't answering anymore? I'm an insider asking one question a week. Normally I recieve a prompt response but no luck in the last month. What gives?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:52 PM)
No, they are in full swing. Don't knwo what to tell you except to call 1-888-549-ESPN for Cust Service. They will help
Craig (PA)
Kinsler or Figgins for rest of the year? Would you trade Kinsler to get Hamels?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:53 PM)
Figgy. And yes
Just Curious
What do you talk to girls about on dates when discussing your career? I'd imagine it could come off as sounding kind of dorky? And that may be putting it lightly... Heyyy baby how you doin' do i have a sit start recommendation for you!
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:55 PM)
I actually don't... when work comes up, I just say that i work for ESPN. If they ask what do I do for them, I say, you ever hear of Fantasy sports... like Fantasy Football, Fantasy Baseball..? and they always say something like yeah, my brother plays... so then I say... well, that's what i do. I'm ana analyst for them on that. And they go "huh, ok" or they say "that's like my brothers dream job" or whaever. I say I know, I am very lucky... and then we move on.
Steve(Boston)
START TONIGHT? Lincecum, MacGowan, and Mussina. Thanks
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:55 PM)
Yes on all 3
Harris(NYC)
Is simmone really leaving?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:56 PM)
Who is Simone?
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
Tell Steve McGowan doesn't pitch until tomorrow.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:57 PM)
No, he's listed as the guy for tonight on our site...
Austin (College Station, TX)
It was relieving to see Corey Hart (the HR) on your list yesterday. Although, Brendan Roberts said yesterday he is no longer a believer. Seeing as how your not worried, can he top last years total of 24?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (3:58 PM)
Yes, I believe so. He didn't really start hitting last year until June 1st... Brendan is a very smart guy but we disagree here.
Buzzkill
You spent a whole blog ragging on other people's grammar and you don't care about typing and spelling? Why did you make such a spectacle of it then? Or, was that the best comeback you had for the unfortunate few? To thine ownself be true.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:00 PM)
Well, it's a bit different, isn't it? I'm just trying to answer as many questions as possible in a limited window - rather have a few typos and get to more questions that be careful. Plus I answer my share of non sport one too so I really try to jam them in. For the blog, people were calling me an idiot... but not using correct grammar to do so. And claiming they should be hired - but with punctuation missing. So that was the point - not that folks can't spell - but that they question the initelligence of someone in a manner which reeks of ignorance. That was the idea, anyways.
Ben (Boston)
Name Game: Greinke or Halladay?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:01 PM)
Roy
Bartender (turning on the lights)
Okay, last call: what side do you want, Sizemore for Webb and Cameron.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:01 PM)
Webb side
John (New York)
The question earlier was about Bill Simmons leaving ESPN. Although I doubt you will be the one to break any news regarding that story
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:02 PM)
Ah. I would be very surprised if that happened.
Ha
You took extra long to answer that question so to ensure proper grammar usage!
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:02 PM)
no i didn't
Jorge, NYC
"initelligence" Sums it all up with you.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:02 PM)
see?
Rick (Houston)
Name game: Nady or Jacobs?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:03 PM)
Jacobs for power, Nady for everything else
Bob(NY)
SCHERZER sticks around as middle relief or gets sent down? Thanks
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:03 PM)
Sticks. And gets back in the rotation when Davis sucks or Unit gets hurt
Joe (West Hempstead, NY)
Fred Lewis - Awesome?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:04 PM)
how about... productive? Awesome's a bit much.
Rick (Detroit)
You would be surprised you broke the story or surprised Bill Simmons leaves?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:05 PM)
I would never break the story, but surprised if Bill leaves. Just like he does in the world, Bill has many big fans at ESPN.
mike (minneapolis)
More manly: Being able to change a spare tire or jump your own battery?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:05 PM)
Tire
Barney Stinson (NY)
Fred Lewis is only awesome if I let him borrow the word.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:05 PM)
well done
Jorge, NYC
You are like a car wreck on the side of the highway. I feel dirty.
Harold (Reno)
Can I call that 888 number when you're trying to hard to get a laugh?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:06 PM)
Another good one. Well played, Harold. And Jorge, you've discovered the reason for my success.
Eric (DC)
Over/Under: Bruce hitting .285 15 60 10
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:06 PM)
I will take the over. Slightly.
Austin (College Station, TX)
Wow..your right. AMAZING. Hart didn't hit his 2nd HR until June 2 and then had 9 in June. So hes actually AHEAD of pace.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:07 PM)
See? Not just a pretty face. Did that off the top of my head, too.
Well Dunn (WWF Tag Team Legends)
Were you a big fan of us?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:08 PM)
No, never really got in wrestling, actually.
Jack (Annapolis, MD)
Have you ever attempted to make a group of people laugh and they just stare at you aimlessly? It's a horrible feeling.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:08 PM)
Of course. When I was a sitcom writer, you have to pitch jokes at the table all the time and no one - not the funinest guy in the world - nails them all. You just keep pitching.
Dennis (Chicago)
that FSWA.ORG has no freelance gigs on it. Not even for free. Any sites you recommend to write for?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:11 PM)
No, because some of them are competitors. But it's not hard to figure out. And there's an email address on FSWA.org that you can email ... it's not a lot to join, either.
Just Curious
Did you just compare yourself to the funniest guy in the world? Please tell me it aint so
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:11 PM)
no, I am saying no matter how good or bad you are ... you have good days and bad days at what you do - whatever that is
joe (florida)
back to an actual baseball-related question...got 6 outfielders for three spots...please rank Byrnes, Kemp, Nady, Quentin, Delmon Young, and Bourn...thanks a lot!
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:12 PM)
Assuming you don't need tons of speed (hence Bourn)... I say Kemp, Quentin and Byrnes
Paul Hogan (ya bloody bastard)
Seriously thinking about blowing up my staff: Peavy, Myers, Penny, Francis in NL Only. Would you?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:13 PM)
yes
Jake (augusta)
Ha, busted you! Jeter's on your hate list every year for being overrated, yet he shows up on your AL Tout team. Admit it, he might not have the power or of Tejada or youth of Tulo, but there's a lot value in that consistency! I'm no yankee-lover but would rather have him at SS from here out than anyone outside of the new trinity (Han-Ram, Reyes, Rollins).
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:13 PM)
Not really... I got Jeter at a bargain. He wasn't overrated in that auction.
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
Didn't you say Nady was going to hit 30 HRs? And you're taking Jacobs? WTF?!
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:13 PM)
Think Jacobs hits 35
Cory (Dallas, TX)
Iz Izzy done?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:14 PM)
yes
David Archuleta (Utah)
Would you rather have Vladdy or Burrell the rest of the way?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:14 PM)
Vlad
Dan, San Jose
Matty, I'm in a slump, can I use your leopard thong?
Joe (Squarejaw, NY)
Yes or no - Stephen Drew reaches his potentia this year.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:14 PM)
YES
Giambi's Thong
Jeter may be consistant, but I am streaky!
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:14 PM)
even better
Mrs. (Butter) Werth
Do you like Jayson Werth rest of the way? Final #'s?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:15 PM)
best name yet. I do. I'll say he ends up with 23 HR, .280, 8 SB
Brad (Philly)
For the rest of the year: Aybar or Barmes.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:16 PM)
Aybar for speed and pos flex
Craig (PA)
Juan Pierre, worth a flyer now that Jones is going under the knife?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:16 PM)
How is he still available????
Dale (STL)
is Perez a must own then?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:16 PM)
Actually, i think Franklin sticks. But Perez is certainly worth a flier
Justin (UVA)
Ranked correctly? Hermida, D. Young and Bruce.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:17 PM)
yes... but if Bruce gets called up before june 1, I'd put him ahead of Delmon
Randy Medford OR
What sitcom?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:17 PM)
many bad ones
Mike (Nashville)
Matt: Not all women are crazy...just most. Mine asks me about my fantasy teams, comes to watch my baseball and hockey games and is very...affectionate..if you know what I mean.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:18 PM)
I have no idea what you are talking about. But I hate you.
Chris (Philly)
On Werth, 8 SB total or 8 from here on? He has 7 already
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:18 PM)
8 from here on out, sorry
Arif (Staten Island, NY)
I drafted solely on your advice. My team is in 10th place. I hope you're attacked by a bear
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:19 PM)
This made me laugh hard.
Josh (Lincoln, NE)
I have to give you props. Prior to my draft I went over your really long column where you predicted numbers for different guys. In my first year after inheriting a team, I'm in first place (after the team was in dead last place last year) thanks to guys like Ankiel, Nady, Hamilton, Marcum and Uggla.
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:19 PM)
Aw, shucks.
Matt Leominster, MA
Will Arron Laffey retain his starting role
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:20 PM)
Yes, I like him
Sigfried
Bear attacks are not a laughing matter.
Joe (Squarejaw, NY)
I also hate Mike from Nashville.
joe (iowa)
better year: teixiera or loney?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:20 PM)
Big Tex
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:21 PM)
AL in NYC... about the TRUM question... yes, I am working on it. Taking a while.
Skunk (Kansas)
Among other things prior to this chat, I didn't know that Jones was out! Is Eithier a must add NOW, if you'd have to drop D. Young or Hermida to fit him?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:22 PM)
No, I like both those guys a bit more
Jason J. (NJ)
Hey there TMR! Fantasy Ethics question - a buddy of mine agreed to trade me Dan Haren, Placido Polanco and Andy Pettitte for Robinson Cano and James Shields (our rationale being that Cano for Haren and Shields for Polanco and Pettitte was fair). When it went before our league, MY YOUNGER BROTHER, who I now refer to as "Fredo", vetoed the trade! My question is, doesn't that cross an unspoken line that you don't veto trades by family members unless they're grotesquely unfair (like if I were getting Cole Hamels instead of Pettitte)?
Matthew Berry - The Talented Mr. Roto (4:23 PM)
Yes and No. Your brother should play how he thinks and not give you any help because you are related. So good for him. That said... I hate vetos. Feel they are weak - as long as there is no collusion people should be allowed to coach however they want. So I hate it for that reason.
