Buzzmaster (3:21 PM)
We've got Joe!
Pat (Cincinnati, OH)
What was the most exciting college game that you have played in?
Joe Alexander (3:22 PM)
Hands down, it was the Duke game. Because of Joe Mazzula and the energy that he brought. But also because it was to get to the Sweet 16.
Chris, Fort Wright KY
Honestly, did you slow up on the fast break in the Duke game just to deliver the facial dunk?
Joe Alexander (3:23 PM)
It was the UConn game, but yes, I did slow down for him. I heard a lot about how Stanley was a great shotblocker and an NBA prospect. I had my own opinion about that.
Kyle (Morgantown, WV)
Joe, are you gonna wear Huggins' gold suit in New York for the draft?
Joe Alexander (3:23 PM)
No, I'm not. But Huggins has been joking with me that he wants me to wear it. I've been telling him that it won't fit me.
David Dayton, OH
How was Huggins as a coach and did he help you develop your game at all? We miss him over here in SW Ohio.
Joe Alexander (3:24 PM)
As a coach, he was the best thing that could have happened to me. As far as developing my game, he showed me things that I had never been exposed to. And I credit a lot of my success in this year's draft to him and his staff.
Andrew:Clinton, CT
How do you plan on adapting with the long NBA schedule that most rookies consider to be one of the hardest parts of first joining the NBA?
Joe Alexander (3:25 PM)
I plan on doing what I did at the end of this season which was to continue to lift weights throughout the entire season. But also take advice from the veterans.
Alec, (1999 WVU) Philadelphia, PA
What is your favorite non-basketball memory about attending WVU?
Joe Alexander (3:26 PM)
I'd say walking around town with my teammates and just being close with them and being able to hang out with them off the court. Also, when we would come home from road trips, there would be fans waiting for us to arrive in the middle of the night.
Jeff (Atlanta)
Growing up, who where your favorite players and who have you molded your game after?
Joe Alexander (3:27 PM)
I molded my game after my older brothers. Because I didn't grow up watching the game, I grew up watching them. When I was young, I idolized Michael Jordan.
Jordan (Slinger, WI)
What is the craziest thing Bob Huggins has said in the locker room?
Joe Alexander (3:28 PM)
@#$%*()^%. The funniest thing that he said was he yelled at someone, you haven't made a shot since Moby Dick was a minnow.
Jack (Orlando)
Aside from your athleticism, what do you think you impressed teams with the most during your workouts?
Joe Alexander (3:28 PM)
Probably my ball handling. Hardly anyone knows that that is one of my strengths.
Mike (NYC)
Where do you think you had your best workout?
Joe Alexander (3:29 PM)
My best workout was in Sacramento. My legs felt great. And I shot the ball well from mid range.
Chris (Parkersburg, WV)
Joe, alot of projections have you going #8 to the Milwaukee Bucks. Is there any team that you would love to play for?
Joe Alexander (3:30 PM)
Since I didn't grow up watching the NBA, I don't have any strong allegiances. So, really it just comes down to I want to go to a winning team and a team where I can play right away.
Mike Morgantown Wv
How far will WVU go in the 2009 NCAA tournament?
Joe Alexander (3:30 PM)
I'm going to have them in the Final Four. Once again, everyone will have them as a bubble team, like always. And like always, they'll ''shock'' everyone.
Sean Twinsburg, Ohio
Being a huge West Virginia fan that I am, how have your other teammates reacted to you entering the draft?
Joe Alexander (3:31 PM)
They've been very supportive. Some of them asked me for money. And some of them gave me advice for my suit. And one of them wanted to know if they could have my old apartment at West Virginia.
Daniel, Charleston WV
Who's the best player in your opinion still at WVU?
Joe Alexander (3:32 PM)
I would say Alex Ruoff. I think he's an underrateted player in college basketball. But I hope he gets his chance to shine this year.
Johnson (Kent Washington)
Hey Joe,I really enjoyed watching you play for West Virginia. I just have one question. Where do you think you rank relative to Rose and Beasley in the draft?
Joe Alexander (3:33 PM)
I think I am on par with them. I have versatility, similar to Beasley. And competitiveness similar to both of them. But West Virginia definitely had better unis than both of them this year.
David Fairborn, OH
What's in your headphones before tip off?
Joe Alexander (3:34 PM)
Li'l Wayne.
John (Fairmont, WV)
Joe, what are some of the things that coaches have told you to work on in your workouts?
Joe Alexander (3:35 PM)
They want me to consistently elevate on my jumpshot. And consistently not elevate on my NBA 3.
Jordan (Slinger, WI)
What has the draft experience been like so far?
Joe Alexander (3:35 PM)
It's been very similar to the rigures of the regular season. With traveling and playing every day.
Jordan (Slinger, WI)
Take your pick: Simpsons, Family Guy, or South Park?
Joe Alexander (3:35 PM)
Family Guy. But you didn't mention American Dad, which is an acquired taste. But very good.
Dave (Morgantown)
What number do you plan on wearing in the NBA? Is there a reason you chose #11 at WVU?
Joe Alexander (3:36 PM)
I chose 11 because it was a number I wore in middle school. I'm going to wear 11 if I can. If not, I have some serious thinking to do about whether I really want to play in this league.
Curt Lamm, Lakeside, Montana
Do you think that you might be giving Owen Schmidt a run for his money as the most loved Mountaineer of late?
Joe Alexander (3:37 PM)
No chance. Owen is a legend in WV.
Steiny (NYC)
Were have scouts said you are going to be drafted?
Joe Alexander (3:37 PM)
Anywhere from 6 to 15.
Brian (Morgantown)
Joe, are you a fan of WVU football? What do you think of their chances this fall?
Joe Alexander (3:38 PM)
I think they'll go to the Sweet 16. But yes, I'm a big fan of West Virginia football. Going to their games brought me great joy.
Joe Alexander (3:39 PM)
These were all very good questions. It seems I have quite an intelligent fan base. I want to thank you all for supporting me and I hope you'll continue to do so in the future, even through the ups and downs. And to all my fans from West Virginia, I love you guys, thanks for everything.
