Buzzmaster (1:01 PM)
We've got Gretchen!
Dawn Thomas, Catonsville, Maryland
Hi Gretchen! Great job on your version of Take Me Out to the Ballgame! I really enjoyed how you involved the young ball players in your video.. I played softball for over 25 years and I know for myself as child, it would of been a dream come true to be in that video. Who's idea was it for your version of the song and video? Thanks for your time and I'll see you on Aug 9th in Va, can't wait to hear your new songs live!
Gretchen Wilson (1:02 PM)
It came from myself and my manager. We're both huge baseball fans. He comes from the video world. With his expertise, the both of us together, we kind of created the thing. We both have kids that are involved in sports. We thought it would be cool to involve them in it.
Chris from Hanover, NH
Hi Gretchen, I noticed you were wearing a Cardinals t-shirt in the video. Are you a huge Cardinals fan or am I just wishful thinking?
Gretchen Wilson (1:03 PM)
I am a huge Cardinals fan. I grew up in Pocahantas, IL and a bunch of little towns there. Although I was from Illinois, I was no where near the Chicago Cubs, I was much closer to the Cardinals.
Laura Las Vegas, NV
Hey Gretchen, Great rendition and video! I heard that you're such a big Cardinal's fan that you've pulled your tour buses off the road and paid for a hotel room just to watch a game. If you did I hope they won! Thanks for the great music and shows!
Gretchen Wilson (1:05 PM)
It is true. This was a few years back when they were in the World Series with the Red Sox. It wasn't the Series yet, it was a playoff game. The satelitte was not working on my bus, so we rented out a conference room at a hotel to watch it. I can't remember if they won or lost. They probably lost. And hey Laura! See you soon!
Meredith: Alpharetta,GA
How do you keep a healthy family while being on the road at the same time, and to also keep Gace out of the public eye?
Gretchen Wilson (1:06 PM)
Well, my immediate family consists of just me and her. All I have to worry about is keeping myself and her content. She's a gypsy like I am. She comes with me when she's bored. And when she's bored with that she goes to her dad's. She's a rockstar. I never hear her complain.
Gretchen Wilson (1:06 PM)
As far as the public eye, I keep my best to keep her out of it. As she gets older, she wants to do more and more of it. She's looking forward to shooting the T-shirt guns with me today.
Christa from Dixie , West Virginia
Hey Gretchen, I know that you've probably hear this question alot but "Do you ever get to do any or you favorite past time things, like Muddin or Fishin" Im a redneck to so i thought i would ask
Gretchen Wilson (1:08 PM)
Absolutely. I have a 400-acre farm in Tennessee. It's about half pasture and half wooded. I probably have a couple of miles of trails in the wooded area. We have some 4-wheelers, razers, we do it all. Hunting, fishing, all of it.
Gretchen Wilson (1:08 PM)
When we can get there.
Beth W. West Haven, CT
What inspired you when you started writing your music for the new album?
Gretchen Wilson (1:09 PM)
My live show and the fans. My live show has always been a lot more rocking than a country album is allowed to be. I was inspired by the live show and what the fans bring to it. Just the overall rock 'n' roll, not that it's not a country record, but it's a lot more rockin like my live shows.
Kathy, Glenolden PA
I love you and your music. Do you play baseball?
Gretchen Wilson (1:10 PM)
Yes I did. I tried all of that stuff. My mom had me in the girly stuff first - ballet and dance classes. But as soon as I was old enough to make my own decisions, I was playing baseball. I took after my Uncle Vern. He was an all-star back home. But I haven't played ball in a long time.
Robert , Flagstaff, AZ
Great version of Take Me Out to the Ballgame! Any chance of singing it during a concert?
Gretchen Wilson (1:11 PM)
You know, I haven't thought about that, but I guess we could. We recorded it live at a sound check one day while we were on the road. Thanks for the advice, we're going to have to think about that.
Crayon Easton PA
Crayola Crayons are celebrating it's 50th anniversary of the 64 crayon box... If you could have a gretchen wilson crayon- what would be the name and color?
Gretchen Wilson (1:12 PM)
Well, I guess it would have to be redneck red, wouldn't it?
Jack Ravetti Novato CA
I was wondering what has changed the most with your stardom? Are you treated any differently from before your success? I was also wondering if you enjoy being greeted by fans when you are out day to day? i know that a lot of famous people dont enjoy that. please answer my questions! : ) and come perform in the bay area again! we miss you! haha! : )
Gretchen Wilson (1:13 PM)
I don't think so. I think everything is pretty much the same. Stardom really hasn't effected me at all. I'm still the same girl I've always been. I don't know how to do anything different. I wasn't a preteen or a youngster when I reached my dream. I was pretty much a set person. It's been a wonderful blessing and I've been ready for it.
Shelby Hatch, Red Oak, Texas
Gretchen congrats on ur GED. I love you so much! You are a huge inspiration in my life. I have all of your current cds and I can't wait till your new one comes out! I got one question for you. How did you get started in country music?
Gretchen Wilson (1:14 PM)
That's a novel to answer that question. Determination is probably the word that sums it up the most. Every door was closed in my face at least once, sometimes twice. I think you can do anything you want to if you want it that badly.
Dan (Bridgewater, NJ)
Favorite song you've done so far? Love country and line dancing. Hear your stuff tons!
Gretchen Wilson (1:15 PM)
Songs that you haven't heard yet that you'll be able to hear on this record. I'm doing songs on this record that I think is the best record I've ever made. When I listen to it, it blows me away with the depth of the lyrics.
Gretchen Wilson (1:16 PM)
I want to say thanks to everyone for being baseball fans and being country music fans. Wish me luck and hopefully we'll take this thing all the way. I love you all. We'll see you out there on the road!
