Chat with Philadelphia Soul QB Matt D'Orazio

D'Orazio and the Soul play in the National Conference championship on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET (ESPN). The Soul finished with the best record in the AFL during the regular season at 13-3, earning a first round bye in the playoffs. Cleveland enters the game after an upset of the Georgia force last weekend.
D'Orazio and the Soul needed a last-second TD pass in the divisional round to advance to the conference championship. D'Orazio hit Larry Brackins for a 28-yard strike as time expired for the win.
Send in your questions now and then join D'Orazio at 4:30 p.m. ET on Friday!

Matt D'Orazio (4:37 PM)
Thanks for your support, everyone!

What do the Soul have to do to win tomorrow?
Matt D'Orazio (4:37 PM)
I think we'll have to protect the football, eliminate turnovers, and play like we did last week on defense. Cleveland will be hot, and we'll have to play four hard quarters and a tough game.
Craig (Norwich, CT)
What was going through your mind when the officials were reviewing the game winning touchdown Larry Brackins caught?
Matt D'Orazio (4:38 PM)
I was just hoping and praying that he got in. It was out of our hands at that point, so I was relaxed and calm.
Terry (NJ)
does the gameplan change at all since you play these guys twice already?
Matt D'Orazio (4:39 PM)
A little bit here and there, but at this point, it's about playing your best football this week and hopefully next week.
Ricardo (Columbus, OH)
How does it feel to be playing against essentially your hometown team, who is desperate for a championship, in any sport?
Matt D'Orazio (4:40 PM)
It feels good, just because I was born in Cleveland and spend a lot of time there with family and friends. It's nice to see them doing so well in their first year as an organization in Cleveland. I want the league to thrive, and I want the city to love it because it's a great football town.
Bob (Allentown)
What do you think of instant replay so far?
Matt D'Orazio (4:41 PM)
I think it's a good thing, especially in the playoffs where one play can make a difference. It's worth the time they spend, and all in all, definitely a good thing.
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Matt, Do you have any pre-game rituals?
Matt D'Orazio (4:43 PM)
I don't really have any. I'm just pretty calm, I sit back and relax, a lot of prayers go through my head, just to help me stay calm.
Bill
How do you stay focussed as an atheleteafter being released because of injury; then, stepping in as the back-up quarterback and leading the team to the Conference Championship Game ??
Matt D'Orazio (4:44 PM)
I have an unbelieveable group of people around me, as far as family and friends. They have helped me stay focused and in line.
Terry (NJ)
do too many teams make the playoffs? teams well below 500 made it this year in the american conference
Matt D'Orazio (4:45 PM)
It's tough, because the year we won in Chicago, we were 7-9. I'm kind of on the fence about that one. It's hard to say year-to-year, because sometimes you have very strong teams on one side, and weaker teams on the other.
tyler (woodbury)
do you think you will stay in philly next year?
Matt D'Orazio (4:46 PM)
It's not up to me completely, but this has been one of my most enjoyable years in the AFL. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Who is your fav. NFL team?
Matt D'Orazio (4:46 PM)
The Cleveland Browns.
Pat (AZ)
dude, what does the general public think of your fumanchu 'stasche goin on? i think its pretty awesome, waay better than giambi's
Matt D'Orazio (4:47 PM)
That's Tony! He can definitely pull it off, but I don't have one because I'd have a tough time pulling it off.
Tom (Philly)
Do you think we have to hit them hard and fast tomorrow to throw their game off.
Matt D'Orazio (4:48 PM)
I think it'll be an intense game with a lot of emotion and excitement. The team that starts fast will have an advantage, but we'll definitely have to play all 60 minutes, as we saw last week.
Matt D'Orazio (4:49 PM)
Speaking for the whole team, we appreciate the support and we're all looking forward to tomorrow. Thanks again!
