Chat with Sam Querrey

Querrey made it to the round of 16 in the U.S. Open, before losing to Rafael Nadal. Reaching the fourth round was the farthest Querrey had made it at the U.S. Open. He took out two seeded players during his run.
Querrey turned pro in 2006. He is currently ranked 55 in the world. He had previously reached No. 38 in May, after winning his first ATP event in March.
Send in your questions now and join Querrey at 1 p.m. ET on Friday!

Sam Querrey (1:01 PM)
Happy to be here and I'm ready to answer all your questions.
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Sam, What sports other then tennis do you like to watch?
Sam Querrey (1:02 PM)
I love watching baseball and basketball. I'm a fan of the Dodgers and the Clippers.
Bud (charlotte, nc)
You played Nadal....just how good is he?
Sam Querrey (1:02 PM)
He's No. 1 in the world right now. He's a tough player. He makes you work for every singe point.
Travis Mtn View, CA
Sam,You have a great serve. How much do you practice it? Any specific training for it (weights or stretches)?
Sam Querrey (1:04 PM)
I used to practice it when I was younger. Now it comes natural to me. I don't really practice it too much now.
Phil (LA)
What's the one thing about playing on tour that you think most fans don't understand?
Sam Querrey (1:05 PM)
I think fans don't understand how tough the travel is and how that can ware on your body. Sometimes we have 10 hour flights and that hurts if you have to play the next day.
SGS: Bradenton, FL
Sam, who do you think is greater..Sampras or Federer? and please don't give a diplomatic answer..lol. Congrats on a great performance at the USOPEN!
Sam Querrey (1:06 PM)
Right now I would say Sampras because he has more grand slam wins. In a couple of years it might be different. Federer is a great player and will win his fair share of slams.
Neal (Washington)
You probably get asked this a lot, becuase you're so tall, but have you ever played hoops?
Sam Querrey (1:06 PM)
Yes, I played my freshman year in high school. Now I play for fun with my friends.
Dan (Pittsburgh)
Who ya got in the US Open?
Sam Querrey (1:07 PM)
I'm going to go with Federer.
Mark (VA)
Which is the better rivalry: Agassi-Sampras, Nadal-Federer or Djokovic-New York crowd?
Sam Querrey (1:09 PM)
That's tough. I think when it comes to tennis in the US in would say Agassi-Samprass. Outside the US i would say Nadal-Federer.
Dan (Detroit)
Do you ever have any regrets of not going to USC?
Sam Querrey (1:10 PM)
I don't. Sometimes I wish I did have the college experience, but other than that I have no regret.
Sam (Durham, NH)
So, are you and John Isner the tallest doubles team ever?
Sam Querrey (1:11 PM)
We could be. John and I are one of the tallest doubles teams over the last ten years.
Alane (CT)
Hi, is it tough to hit low vollies considering you are so tall. Also, who do you believe is the best tall player in the game (6'5 of taller)?
Sam Querrey (1:12 PM)
The tallest is Ivo Karlovic at 6'10. Low vollies are tough, but it's something we tall players have to work on.
Daniel (Wichita)
What is your favorite thing about playing at the US Open?
Sam Querrey (1:13 PM)
I would say the fans. Every match the court is packed with loud and energetic fans. It makes the match more fun for everybody.
Henry (Buffalo)
do you ever think to ask an opponent that you're playing doubles against if they'd rather play two-on-two with you and John to determine the winner?
Sam Querrey (1:14 PM)
I never really thought about that.
Elgin Baylor (LA)
You're a Clippers fan? I didn't think they existed!
Sam Querrey (1:16 PM)
(laughing) We just got Baron Davis so I'm excited about that. He is a great player and he has an unbelievable beard.
Sam Querrey (1:16 PM)
Thanks for all the questions and hopefully I'll be back to chat again!
