Jeremy Green (4:07 PM)
Helo and welcome to fooooooooooooooooooooootballlllllllllllllllllllllll Friday Green Nation... back in the 4 PM slot where we belong.
Johnny(Queens)
Where is Jeremy! Where is Jeremy! Where are you! Where are you! How are you today sir! Your part Jeremy.
Jeremy Green (4:07 PM)
Here I AM!
brian (de)
Is Chris Cooley and the Wash O going to rebound?
Jeremy Green (4:09 PM)
I don't think so. Jason Campbell looks completely lost in this offense right now. He played in the WC system his last year in college but this is obvioulsy a lot more extensive because he seems to be on overload right now.
Kimberly (Columbus, OH)
Hi Jeremy -- Don't laugh, but can Bengals fans take anything positive out of last week's performance? I thought corner Jonathan Joseph looked solid, and Leon Hall too, to a lesser degree. Thanks.
Jeremy Green (4:10 PM)
I would never laugh at you Kimberly and I agree. Joseph and Hall along with Rivers are really what they are trying to build their team around right now. You need to build from the front to back though and there are few positives right now on the defensive line or offensive line for that matter.
rob (de)
who is a better cover corner, DeAngelo Hall or the Michelin Tire Guy?
Jeremy Green (4:12 PM)
No shock here. I think I made my feelings felt about Hall and this deal. He will play when he wants to play and not a second sooner. To bad this deal might cost them Asomugha who is one of the top shut down corners in the game.
Xander (Philly)
You're normally pretty hard on the Bills, so I'm curious how you feel about them after last week and going into this Jax game. Thanks!
Jeremy Green (4:13 PM)
Not sure because I have not chatted a ton of late Xander but on the weekend prior to the start of the regular season when we had to ante up our playoff picks, I had the Bills as one of my AFC WC teams. Impressive win last week and I love the aggressiveness the coaches showed throughout the game.
Jason, Oakland
People are already starting to whisper that McFadden is a bust. Seens some scouts being louder that even on tapes from college you could see that he wasn't going to be "special". Just a guy with great speed. What are your thoughts?
Jeremy Green (4:15 PM)
This is silly. The guy has played in one game... just one. No I think he is still going to be pretty "special."
Majeed
JG, Is it worth it for me to head to the desert and watch the Fins/AZ game?
Jeremy Green (4:17 PM)
I could give you 25 better things to do with you time but you are a FINS fan in So Cal. It is is a short trip. GO support your team in an losing effort.
SprungOnSports (Long Island)
Can Eddie Royal and Brandon Marshall bring a victory for Denver over the hated Chargers?
Jeremy Green (4:20 PM)
I like Denver this week. I watch San Diego play and the coaches just don't get it. I can't believe how Ted Cotrell sat there and brought 4-man ruhs after 4-man rush. I would think without Merriman he would wisen up and bring the heat this week but it is not in their nature. LT is ailing and with no rush Cutler is going to pick that secondary apart just like Jake Delhomme. I like the Broncos at home.
Selvin Young (Denver)
Who should start in my fantasy league this week? Myself or Chris Johnson?....I run fast!!
Jeremy Green (4:21 PM)
I would start Chris Johnson vs. the lowly Bengals defense.
chauncey (teaneck)
What do you expect from the pats this year without Brady?
Jeremy Green (4:25 PM)
I still think they go 10-6 or better and are a playoff team. Brady is the best player in the game and you can't replace that, but this team has a ton of talent in the front seven on defense and they have an understanding of what they have to do now. Also on offense, Moss is still the best deep threat in the game and Welker is the best in the slot. This team can run the football as welll, and I think we forget that because they chose not to last season... last but not least I think the best Head Coach in the NFL has some motivational tools up his sleeve. The Pats are far from dead.
Gabe (Nc)
Wheres Carolinas love after beating the chargers.
Jeremy Green (4:26 PM)
Much love to Carolina. I think John Fox finally found what he was looking for. A little power run game and mixing in Jake Delhomme. Oh and Little atrtittude..., the smacked the Chargers in the mouth last week.
Matt (Chicago)
Can the bears start out 2-0, they won't be giving Carolina and Jake all that time to throw!!
Jeremy Green (4:29 PM)
I have to give it up to the Bears for the way they got it done last week, but two strsaight on the road would be a tough order to be 2-0. Chicago will not dominate up front like they did last week, and not to take away from the Bears effort, but th Colts offensive line minus Saturday is a mess.
Jas (Montreal, Canada)
Will Reggie Wayne be used as a slot receiver al year? What are your thoughts?
Jeremy Green (4:30 PM)
I hope not. Marvin Harrison has lost a step and a half. Wayne is the only guy they have outside right now who can consistently make a play .
Luis (SB, CA)
JG, I don't understand why everyone is so high on the Eagles. Some are picking them to beat the Boys on monday night. I mean, c'mon it was the rams at home. My 9 year old niece can throw 3 TD's against that secondary. Dallas beat a believed-to-be-playoff-contender in their home turf. Shouldn't this be pointed more toward the Cowboys? What do you think?
Jeremy Green (4:34 PM)
Wow... take that Rams fans. They should just put the words 'toast" on Tye Hills jersey. I like the Boys but this is going to be a good game. Eagles DC Jim Johnson always dials up a good game plan. McNabb his healthy even though his receivers aren't. I just think Dallas has a little too much offensive balance here and they will be able to get pressure something the Rams no ZIP about.
josh (ohio)
i have tavaris jackson as a starter in my fantasy u think i should put in matt cassel instead?
Jeremy Green (4:35 PM)
put in anyone. Jackson had so many chances to make plays last week and he could not hit open receiver after open receiver.
Mikey(Lackawanna,NY)
Jeremy, What kind of game do you expect from the Bills DT Marcus Stroud vs his old team this Sunday?
Jeremy Green (4:37 PM)
He should flat out dominate. You know he was going to be amped for this one and you throw in the Jags are playing without the entire interior of their offensive line. He should control this game, but I still like the Jags at home with Garrard making a play late to squeak out a win.
Ryan (America's Finest City)
Emergency trade question: I had Tom Brady... my back up is Bulger... I was offered Warner and Driver for Santonio Holmes... Should I do it??
Jeremy Green (4:38 PM)
I would nake that deal because Bulger is going to be hurt soon....very soon behind that O-line.
Ryan (San Diego)
Broncos defense is pathetic. The Chargers ran all over them last year, what will change this year? I think its still bad but the Raiders were just too bad to expose it
Jeremy Green (4:40 PM)
WOW!! Pathetic he says. The Raiders did show the ability to run the ball prior to falling behind. I am not sold on the Denver run defense either but I am not sold on Cottrell ever calling a blitz either so I am going to go with the home team here.
Eric Mangini
What are the odds that Bill actually shakes my hand after the game?
Jeremy Green (4:41 PM)
He will shake Mangini's hand if the Pats win... Bill Belichick is who I thought he was.
josh (ohio)
do u think the steelers defense and running game will dominate vs the brownies?
Jeremy Green (4:43 PM)
WHere were the Browns defensive line investments last week? The Browns should at least be able to stop the run but they can't. Which only makes it tougher for them to stop the pass. Pittsburgh has way to much offensive balance for the Browns to contend in this one. Make it 10 straight for the Steelers in this series.
Anthony (NYC)
JG as a Jets fan I understand nows a good opportunity to make a move in the AFC East. Yet I can't shake this odd feelin that Belicheck will revisit 1990, he'll run a very controlled offense & Cassell will be the reincarnation of Jeff Hostler. Your thoughts?
Jeremy Green (4:45 PM)
I agree. I do not think we see as much of the spread offense and when we do it will be more controlled and underneath stuff then maybe the vertical routes. Moss needs to understand that if he wants the rock he is going to work the middle of the field more. The offense will be efficient... just less explosive.
kmgreen
I found you....
Jeremy Green (4:47 PM)
Is this really my wife?? Honey if this is really you how about Eldrions Pizza for dinner before I go back to work for TV and Football Friday? You down?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
In the end do you think the Raiders end up regretting drafting Jamarcus Russell? The team is a mess and I just don't see him as a leader.
Jeremy Green (4:50 PM)
I would not say regret. He might though. This disaster was here long before Russell came along. How do you lead this mess that starts at the top?
kmgreen:
HOW ABOUT YOU MAKE YOURSELF DINNER FOR ONCE YOU LAZY POS!
kmgreen
Come home now and I'll definitely make it worth your while.
John(Buffalo)
What did you father ever say to you about John Randle?
Jeremy Green (4:52 PM)
One of the hardest working guys that ever played for him. Best motor has ever been around. Tireless worker on and off the field. Randle was undrafted and never forgot that... it kept him hungry.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Good point on Russell. I guess thinks will continue to be a mess until Al Davis gives up control of the team.
Chioke Hassan, Baltimore,Md
Dear Jeremy Could you see the Raiders getting a new Staduim?
Jeremy Green (4:53 PM)
Might need to find a football team first.
Steve (Moscow, ID)
He JG how much help is the Broncos Wiegmann going to need against Jamal Williams? Can the Broncos maintain the pocket for Cutler to throw from, and how will that matchup affect the run game?
Jeremy Green (4:56 PM)
Not as much as one would think. First off he knows the player well because he also faced him two times a year in KC. Secondly Williams is not the dominant player he was even though he is still damn good. I think they can chip with one of the Guards when need to and then recover. I see a nice pocket for Cutler to throw through and if not he can move a little to his left or rigth where there won't be the usual early season presurre coming off the edges.
Anthony (NYC)
JG after watching the Saints & Panthers victories, will the race in the NFC South be close or do you expect someone to pull away with the division?
Jeremy Green (4:57 PM)
Close, but I don't think week one proved that. I always thought and this division is always fairly tight.
Jason in Denver
I'm tired of you not putting up or answering my questions...too hard for ya?
Jeremy Green (4:58 PM)
yeah brainbusters
John (LA)
Not NFL, but do you see OSU covering the spread?
Jeremy Green (4:59 PM)
NO. I just go back to the National Championship games from the past two years and look at the Buckeyes speed... I am sorry... lack of speed. USC has speed all over the field.
Robert - Vegas
Jeremy - give credit where credit is due. Do you remember me bashing Teddy C all last season, calling for Rivera to replace him...well what you think about that now, whether it be midseason or next? I mean Manusky (49ers) is running the 34 more aggressively, w/ less talent, than Teddy is
Jeremy Green (4:59 PM)
it has benn noted.
Luis (SB, CA)
JG, upset pick of the week?
Jeremy Green (5:01 PM)
last time I checked the Pats were getting points so there is a good start. I like the Vikes at home as a dog... Going to be another long day for the offense as they won't be able to block the Vikings front four and on the flip side they need to get out of that cover 2 sheel vs. teams that can run the ball. Peterson will make quick work of the Colts if they play that soft cover 2 like they did last week.
Brian, Nj
Any chance niners take the seahawks this week??
Jeremy Green (5:04 PM)
I do not see that. As beat up as Seattle is this is a 49er team that scored 13 at home last week.
kmgreen
Pizza it is...i'll get boys and see you in a few.
Jeremy Green (5:05 PM)
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.... Now that is one helluva wife guys. Pizza and kid pick up? What more can I ask for!!
Ryan (San Diego)
This is the last season for Cottrell I'm sure. Rivera will take over if he doesn't get a head coaching job. For some reason Cottrell insists on waiting for a few weeks to start getting agressive with the playcalling. It took him about 8 weeks last year
Joe(Ohio)
Will Ted Ginn Jr prove people wrong and show them he has what it takes to be a good WR in the NFL?
Jeremy Green (5:06 PM)
I think he can but that is tough when you have QB's that just can't get him the football. They have to get the ball in his hands.
Robert - Vegas
Thanks for the acknowledgment J.G. - but you didn't answer the question lol - Rivera in midseason or next?
Jeremy Green (5:07 PM)
Not midseason. I think Norv is too loyal and I think when Norv finally says "what the heck are we doing?" he will get more aggressive. You never want to lose your star player on D like Merriman but I think this almost has to make Cottrrell get aggressive.
Jeremy Green (5:09 PM)
OK GUYS... I am out of here. Everyone enjoy the games this weekend... be safe and I will catch you back here next week on Football Friday.
Brett (LA)
JG responded to his wife like his mother just gave him 35 cents to get a popsicle at the ice cream truck. I guess we know who calls the shots in your house!
Jeremy Green (5:11 PM)
AHH Brett... no son... now she thinks she calls the shots... Wink-wink.
